"In communism, everybody gets the same slice of pizza, even if it's all stale pizza"

...

And, at a different point on the chart:

Why are you a socdem

"Socialism has never worked."
"That's because socialist countries were in conflict with the US, a fervent promoter of capitalism."
"Yeah but you can't just give everyone the same thing, it's human nature."
"Human nature isn't static and changes depending on your enviornment."
"Holy shit. Read a history book you dumb communist."
"I'm actually just a socialist."
"Socialism leads to communism."
"I wanna kill myself."

...

Short answer: Because the current political climate in the U.S. heavily favors the right, and I believe social democracy is the closest thing we've got to the left that actually stands a chance of getting elected.

You gotta realize: It might be par for the course in most European countries, but Porky's posturing has made SocDem a borderline radical ideology here in the States.

What do you think of the LTV?

Don't stop the train, comrade yank. Let it crash.

Some green legislation would help, though…

Thats why you should have voted for Hillary.

She's awful but the environment is top priority, Now trumps going to turn it into his personal golden shower

Listen, I wish Leminism was real, too…

I have no idea what this is. Please enlighten me, comrade.

Come on. You call that shillposting? Low quality. Sad! You need to mention Chomsky more and call him Drumpf or something.

Don't do it famrade. Don't become a socdem, there's still time for you then.
Socdem is not an ideology, is organized crime. If elected, socdems will become an octopus and grew it's tentacles to every state department. It will become systemic corruption embed to everything. They will pass laws to fuck you and force you to give money to private enterprises.
People will join the socdem party and sucking the leadership only to then have a nice cushy useless government job, created just for them.
And if you dare to criticise, you will be labeled a demagogue and a populist.

t.socdems have ruled my country for decades.

how do you debate with these people? it's just fucking impossible.

some people are too deluded to hold revolutionary potential

Protip: In the US, our "Democratic" liberal party is in line with your "Conservative" parties, whereas our "Republican" party is basically your far-right nationalist party without the (explicit) racism.

The Democrats are okay in my opinion, but the Republicans have done literally everything you just described happened in your country. THEY were the ones who opposed universal healthcare here; THEY are the ones who want to constantly increase the military budget; THEY are the ones who seek to privatize government agencies; and THEY are the ones who complain about not having a private jet to go along with their sinecure.

Only difference being that they'll call you a "socialist" and a "traitor" if you disagree.

Ahh, I get it now. I'd seen it tangentially referred to many times on this board, but never given an explicit name.

Personally, I think it's an interesting concept! And as an ultimate goal, it makes a lotta sense; in a communist system, why -should- the proletariat receive only a fraction of his labor?

In the capitalist system, however, LTV appears somewhat less compatible: Entrepreneurs are required in a capitalist system to bring together the factors of production (machines, men, raw materials), and require an incentive to do so. The numbers that sum up to this incentive may be controlled via state regulations (taxes, subsidies), but it absolutely must be there in some form.

Personally, I think this is fair for our day and age. The problem is when entrepreneurs become exploitative, drafting unequal contracts and returning mere pennies on the dollar to their workers. Again, we have regulations to safeguard against this, and I'd like them further bolstered.

Marx's LTV is a theory of how labour is allocated in Capitalism, despite our transition to fiat money making parts of the theory outdated it's really about Capitalism. I was just wondering because I often find social democrats are really hostile to Marxian economics.

Sounds like a buncha lamewads. Though to be fair, that's likely because they don't know what you're talking about. They hear "Marx" and automatically get all "OOH GOMMUNISM!!1!"

To me though, communism is the ideal; just one we won't see successfully implemented for a long, long time.

I actually like PK a lot, but I don't know if you've seen the blog "Social Democracy in the 21st Century". This socdem who ran a "debunking Marxism economics" and Austrian economics series and he always got destroyed in the comments. He does occasionally make a valid point, but he quotemines Marx and reads contradictions into his work that aren't there.
