No game is like planetside. If someone shat out "open world shootmans: dubstep edition" everyone would jump ship. It's also free (as in free shit) so it's not like we're losing anything other than our time.

Because the times that it does shine, it feel great. Plus, I know some guys on the NC that I get organized with and that definitely adds enjoyment in when you're coordinating with other to hold and push objectives rather than farm. As puts it, the bantz and salt a great when they're going.

We've been playing since ~May of last year and have invested too much time to stop playing occasionally, it's free, there isn't much like it, and it's playable enough to be enjoyable if you're fucking around. The threads only started back up because the decal someone in the threads made got in the game, even though it was on a different faction for some reason.

It's fun. I think Holla Forums is just pessimistic on this game, it really isn't that bad. The shooting elements are okay, the vehicle gameplay is fun, air is fucking annoying and it offers some moments no other game can offer. For example, I remember a D-Day like 20 man rush towards up a hill. We were at a clear disadvantage, but some other guys just happened to be at the right place at the right time with a Valkyrie (air transport vehicle) managed to kill a lot of the enemy and draw their attention for us to push up and secure the area. It feels great, there's nothing like it.

I can't wait to see how Planetside 3 will turn out and if they will make the game fucking run next time if they'll even make it, I wonder if this game is even in the green and making dosh to be honest, they might be supporting it just because they have to.

When you play it its 30% of the time bad, 60% "I could be playing something else" and 10% good.
When its good its REALLY fucking good, but since its mostly not even good, combined with a lot of grind, the good parts do not outweight the bad ones.
We'll propably stop playing in a week or two and then start playing again in a couple of months.

If there were more games like it, Daybreak would actually have to make the game enjoyable after you get to the point where you're forced to the having to grind for literally everything after buying a gun thinking it's good in VR and losing 650 or 1000 certs depending on the weapon, with the possibility of more if you bought attachments (remember, 250xp creates only a single cert and you don't get free certs for leveling up after level 15 meaning you have to grind out the ass) because VR isn't like the actual game and trials are so short and spaced so far apart you can't really get a good idea about the weapon.

It, like the Mass Effect series, had awesome potential.

Ok right I've been thinking of really annoying strategies to try out with you nerds, the last one we did worked out pretty well so I made another. You know how normally the engineer doesn't have access to smoke grenades right, and how on some carbines and scout rifles there are underbarrel launchers. What if we got a team of six or so people to cert into spitfires and buy the TRAC-5 S with the smoke launchers, we could spam the shit out of them over walls of bases or inside rooms and use the smoke to either advance through or cause panic. Like say we were to do this at quartz ridge on the side with the sunder garage, we could fire the smokes over the wall there and cover most of the area between points not only causing confusion and giving allies cover but frying any br computers unfortunate enough to be there. If we were to slap HSNV scopes on our TRAC-5 S's we would be able to see everyone through the smoke while they would be forced to Q spam just to get an idea of where we are, and while in the smoke underbarreled smoke launchers refill from ammo packs so we could keep the smoke up we put down all of our spitfire turrets which auto target any enemy we don't see and add to the chaos. since almost no one runs HSNV scopes in normal combat and most people don't even own one much less want to buy one for what they think would only happen once to them we would be able to stomp through most open bases with just that engineer team, let alone if we add infiltrators to the mix giving us motion darts and the ability to cloak in and out of the smoke with the activation knife.

Well, the problem we're running into is that they seemed to have nerfed spread on lmg's so the old tactic of blanketing "sniper hill" in a firestorm doesn't work at ranges past 50 meters, which is odd as fuck to see after coming back to the game after so long. Hopefully we can get the devs to get away from this trend and back to better infantry gunplay; it's all worthless if we can't get them to stop making stupid shit like base building and instead focus on meta though.

Heavy Assault is best for being an annoying shitter with overshields basically being an 'I win' button along with suppression, while LA and Infil are best at flanking the suppressed people while Medic and Engineer are best at resupplying and healing the HA. Doesn't change the fact that TR is more or less designed around filling the air with as much fire as possible to try to drown the enemy in bullets while NC is a built around high damage rounds that aren't followed up as quick and VS is built around being accurate to the point where HA can fuck with a sniper infil if you have an IQ at at least room temperature.

Virtually all of them value accuracy over damage, but that translates into a fuckload of damage because practically every shot will land where you point the gun. Don't forget the Lasher which can hit you around cover because it's shooting aoe balls rather than individual lasers. I may have over exaggerated the range but you get the idea.

Original weapon balance during beta felt better before they started nerfing guns to get us to buy the next one. For example, the TMG-50 was a valid lmg for long range engagements, but now everything is about short range engagments and the TMG-50 just isn't good at its primary role. I hear you and that sounds really cool. The problem is, every time we try to use LA for a valid use outside of squad leaders getting eyes on things, we end up going back to heavies. We flank with other heavies is the thing; the guns are straight up better and the aforementioned overshield makes life easier for shitters like me. Some LA can outplay me, but I pop overshield and can gun him down; that's a solo setting though… in reality, there are a hail of bullets, cheaters, vehicles, .etc so our policy of heavy assaults plays out really nicely, especially with vehicles.

There is a very near TR equivalent for every VS weapon except the Ursa (which is notoriously their shittiest LMG). Maybe back in beta there was actual faction flavor but that's long gone.
The TR kit is great. There is not a single equipment class they're lacking in except for perhaps empire specific rocket launchers and vehicle weapon secondaries. The "S" variants for default carbine, LMG, AR weapons are the shittiest ones in each category.

Besides, weapons are just sidegrades most of the time. There might be like 5-10% performance increase in some cases. If you're good you'll dunk with default shit. This isn't a game about fighting fair, or statistical matchups. Positioning, awareness, and reaction time+aim will carry you way, way farther than any weapon stats will.

Sniping provides cover fire, and pins most players to not progress forwards. It's a support class whose efforts are unseen to most. But really I don't really care about all that. I'm just fucking with you. I use the sniper to clear out other infilshitters and use my pistol most of the time to cap points and hack terminals.

I have never seen sniper fire pin an enemy for longer than it takes a shield to recharge, and most will advance to forward cover anyway. HA is much better at suppressing fire since no one likes to run through a door that's visibly being shot at.

T1 Cycler is for headshottin as a medic. Very accurate, good gun.

T1B cycler is a burstfire and cycles fast enough to have more rounds going down range faster burst firing than the T1 does full auto while being more accurate simply because it bursts.

Its not an engine issue, its the fact that mechs in PS1 were OP as fuck compared to everything else. Mechs on the field meant infantry and a few vehicles weren't. If they were added to PS2 they'd have to be greatly toned down, and even then what would they add that vehicles don't already have covered?

We didn't arbitrarily redeploy, but went naturally with the VS tide, trying to hold at least a few of our bases. The problem was that every base was capped along the way. Not even with a good fight, honestly.
This is actually closer to how I remember WWEW operating early on, covering the massive gaping holes shitfits left and trying to capture and defend bases. Something we explicitly set out to do, even, rather than muh meatgrinder IVI big ops bullshit.
The only real difference is that the players were more focused and the quantity were higher.

It works perfectly fine anywhere as long as you have two gunners, but dealing with groups of infantry is a problem, yes. The point of even doing it is to fuck with planes; though tanks also have a hard time dealing with it unless in groups as well.

The orbital strike might work, but you'd actually have to build the thing at a base in order to ever use it, so just use the overpowered Prowler :^)

I can only really see the orbital strike working in places that have huge fights going on that large groups can't dodge or when trying to bust hives. The problem with the prowler is that it's an mobile artillery piece rather than a tank in the fact that you're more or less required to deploy somewhat far away from a base and just shell it into oblivion and hope there's an ammo sundie nearby along with 2+ other tanks with you.

The prowler should have had a beefed up Vuclan as the main gun that is just fast enough to shit on tanks but slow enough to not cause infantry to complain enough to get it nerfed into the ground (it would anyway), while the NC tank is more or less alright were it is (minus a nerf for the overshield) while the VS one should have been the long range one.

The problem is that the Vuclan is the only real TR exclusive top gun that easily jump between infantry and vehicles. NC's gimmick is shotguns so you can't use that, VS's gimmick is accuracy so you can't use that, and since TR's gimmick is shitting out tons of rounds, you could either have a xbox hueg chaingun that shoots slowly or have it similar to what it is now but reloads faster.

If you're sneaking up on someone, you will kill them with your knife, if it's just a knife with annoying range and 1 or 2 stab kill capability then it's gonna be well, annoying. Most close quarters engagements will just end in spamming the quick bayonet stab key or it will go unused because it's probably not going to be useful.

everyone in close quarters uses melee, since more often then not you're inside each other and hip-firing will not hit them

People use the knife when there either isn't the option to shoot or switch to the pistol and running the risk of being shot by another enemy without being able to shoot back because you're too busy recovering from using the knife, or are running stalker cloak with the one hit kill knife.

it's not that rare, specially in zergs as well trying to take a point or removing sundies it can get clustered very quickly, it doesn't have to take up the rail slot and can easily be it's own slot since you select your melee weapon anyway with the standard melee being the butt of your gun

Smoke grenades can be easily ignored by the nv scope and I don't think anyone uses the shotgun/grenade launchers because they don't do shit, but the grip and laser are probably the two best attachments in the game. I don't know why it would be on the rail, since you could easily just make it sit in the same spot the compensator/suppressor/flash suppressor slot and that would even make sense as a bayonet is going to be at the end of the rifle and not right under the fucking action.

GL is useful for shooting into groups, SG is useful for peeking at someone who is close range because it 1shots people.
It would be fucking useless and a waste of effort, it has no purpose at all in the game and you might as well just take out a pistol if you're out of ammo or bind your knife to a set key to take it out and stab someone.
Cool isn't practical but practical is cool and that sums up why bayonets shouldn't be in the game, they're fucking pointless for anyone except infiltrator but even infiltrators would keep their knife out at all times if they're stalker cloaked.

A flamethrower or some other AOE weapon would be better tbh. I really would rather have the game actually fucking run properly.

In any case someone hopped on and I warned them of a band-aid fix that may have went out. It seems DBG disabled warping to VR which is where it's done. So if it's just coincidence here's how you do it:
1. Go into VR
2. Equip implant
3. Go to Implant tab in menu (the one where you can view what each upgrade does)
4. Purchase rank 1 upgrade
5. Warp to normal continent
6. Giggle at incompetence and enjoy your 75 ISO-4 implant

It's… okay. 8 seconds to cloak means it can't be cheesed but you can't cancel it without moving, and there's a delay when you move. You won't be infilshitting as a heavy or anything. I'd rather have got the other rare, honestly. Regen is good if you get it to level 3, then it's pretty quick to heal up with your shields.

Vamp only works with WIELDED KNIVES. It's only "useful" for infilshitters running around with 1HKO knives.

Assimilate, at Max Rank, restores 100 Shield. To put into context how little that is, a Lynx (909 RPM) does 100 damage per shot at minimum damage (50m+). And it only works on headshots. No one in our outfit is some 50% HSR, 3.0 KPM god. And that's maybe the only people it would get some mileage on. It's fucking trash and you'd be way better off running Battlehardened + Catlike/Sweeper/Ammo Printer.

the ammo printer is useless for us since we've always got engineers anyways, the assimilate is going to make VS HA all that more caner though, since it's going to add time it takes to kill them which means they're going to be unkillable to any infantry asides from other HA

Each recycled implant gives 25 ISO-4. That's for the common ones. A rank 5 implant requires something like 3500 ISO-4. The big pack gives you 9 implants for 750 certs at like 83 certs per implant. So you're looking at like 11,500 certs to max out one implant if you have no ISO-4. Don't forget there's still more planned implants, and there's probably going to be some gimmicky hype shit which they'll nerf after it's OP honeymoon period to fleece the whales.

Only a turbojew could have thought up something like this. It's like they're actively trying to deter new players from playing the game.

The old system cost nothing. You just played the game and recycled implants for chances at higher ranked ones. There was only a couple that were actually markedly better at higher ranks (Sensor Sweep and EOD HUD).
