A.I. (while i was going there anyway) basically had a guaranteed job placement program in it's game design course and EA is one of the largest partners. Basically once you graduate one of the large publishers in the Vancouver area hire you on for a short contract just so A.I. can pad the stats on "amount of graduates hired" and swing around the promise of GUARANTEED JOB PLACEMENT ON GRADUATION! But usually you end up working as a crunch time slave and then get shit canned and rendered unhireable shortly afterwards, because A.I. is a fucking diploma mill, you're better off learning to animate and code on your own time, because so many shitters get puked out of that school nobody beyond manpower farms and QA will even touch your resume without some other experience or another schools courses on it.

Chances are this lady finished her course and was farmed off immediately to wherever EA needed her, and considering the general talent and work ethic of everyone attending A.I. she probably WAS the best hire in the pipe. Knowing that and considering the apparent rate of staff turnover at Bioware in recent years, she was probably promoted through virtue of being the only person not quitting in the department.

That said from my experience the faults in animation are probably the direct responsibility of whoever was in charge of decision making, who (knowing EA) was probably someone with quite little development experience as well probably a corporate yes man terrified of losing his path to promotion by delaying milestones.

At least with software development and business positions they are putting people in jobs that pay well. Recruiters for art institutes and game design schools are putting people into debt.
