It's fanbase and Drakengard's fanbase was nowhere as big nor as loud as it was. It's like these people suddenly showed up over night.

I've seen good Drakengard/Nier discussion on Holla Forums since 2012. Bitching about localization was the worst of it, although everyone tended to acknowledge the gameplay issues.

Yoko Taro started to have a huge fanbase when Drakengard 3 was announced to be a thing in 2013, let alone discussion surrounding the rest of the Drakengard games already existing beforehand. That's when interest was piqued into the rest of Drakengard for who didn't know it, and Nier by relation.

Nier didn't get the respect that Drakengard had but still was talked about because of the ending and shitposting about being either the dad or the brother dad is better. It takes about an hour to move through a single room. The "game" is full of walls of text that bearly advance the plot. I also hear the combat is shit but I quit before I got to test it outside of the tutorial.

There is a point to be made when the only thing I ever see about the game, even in the threads is about how admittedly great looking her ass is. I don't want to discuss a game that's circulated more around memes rather than the actual content.

Nier has never not received universal acclaim for its writing and music. But I do think you're right on that a bunch of faggots on this board only give a shit because of the porn and Yoko Taro's aberrant ways. They couldn't give any less of a shit about the actual game and how it's the dream team treatment the series well deserves. I don't think it not being a console exclusive did much for how it's talked about here at least. I played Nier before the announcement on PS3 and was willing to buy a PS4 for Automata. But can you blame me for being happier that I won't have to buy a PS4 and I can play it on the superior platform?
It really doesn't matter. The game will be amazing by virtue of having the same talented people who made the music and writing for Nier combined with bringing Platinum, masters of gameplay, to the table. I couldn't imagine it being any better. And we should be happy for that, not griping about how some fucks talk about the game on Holla Forums of all places.

Only on PC, yes. Denuvo is terrible for gaming in every single respect and you should pirate the game as soon as possible so you never lose it. But it won't stop me from buying and enjoying the game because Denuvo has no problems for me in the short-term. Others are not so fortunate and I hope the crackers are quick.

They fell into the typical open world game fallacy where everything is pretty to look at but there's nothing to do. Sure you have dungeons but they're noticeably worse than every iteration prior. It looks, visually, worse than other games that came out years prior with the same form of style to it. Which is a huge problem itself. It tried cell-shading plus realism but couldn't really make it work in their favor. I'm not the target audience for the game, but I can still look at it and say, "yeah, this really isn't appealing to me."
