How can a game be this good?

It's just pretendos that pretend to like nintendo to try and give their arguments more weight. They try and enforce this narrative that Nintendo has been going downhill even though they've been killing it for years now.

Once you get done playing with the physics for a few hours you'll start to notice the lack of variety, how empty the open world is, how non-existent the music is, how bland the boss fights are and how generic copy pasted the temples feel. It's a 6/10 at best. If only they put as much attention to everything else in the game as they did to their physics.

I think my only real complaint is really I want more, I want more dungeons, I want more Shrines and I want more enemies, even if for the most part they are cosmetic.

I didn't like it, the game suffers from the same problems that most other modern open-world games do and my main gripe was the weak soundtrack, the first Zelda is the only one that i have truly enjoyed to be fair. Maybe you should play more videogames if you think that BotW is so good, you gove me the impression of someone who only plays relatively new games.

Well I guess by that time Cemu will be able to run the game perfectly, it runs everything else at this point amazingly and the progress the devs make with new games is frightning.

nah, ps4 has bloodborne, uncharted 4, ratchet remake, odinsphere, nioh, yakuza 0, persona 5, resogun, the last guardian, and it's only getting more. It's been a slow gen for every platform but wii u is a clear loser here.

to be fair, xbone only has two games I can say are worth looking into, wii u has double that. pc well, hasn't appealed to me in a long time.

dkctf is the wii u's best game, smash 4 and 3d world were incredibly disappointing and I can't say they are remotely worth playing. Wooly World is worth playing if you're an Ebisu-fan like myself but I cant honestly suggest people to check it out unless they are familiar with his games. TW101 is a good game but it's a bit of a desperate times situation in the case of its praise, I'd still consider it one of the few games worth playing on a wii u.

most people here are PC gamers, they can't play it until the PS4 will be emulated in 15+ years. It's a good game and does some very interesting things with its design that will be extremely valuable going forward in the industry.

Well it's a zelda.
Depending on your tastes it can be good or bad thing. Basically it's simplified action+puzzle+rpg that sets you on a journey to save princess and kill big bad. It's formulatic, but it's dedicated enough to make it entertaining.
But if like most PC people you grew up with properly separated action, puzzles and RPGs it will feel too simplistic, easy and lacking substance for you.

So the game is polished, hmm I can tell you that the dub is good (the latin spanish) I saw a part of a walktrough.
The english dub is bad (princess Zelda) but the rest of the game looks fun.

I loved BOTW. Still do. The magic's worn off a bit after 100+ hours, but those first few days were just heaven. It's not like a traditional open world sandbox bullshit. This is a full on toybox. They give you a massive world and just let you loose, you don't even have anyone bugging you to complete quests, and you can turn the entire HUD off except for the hearts top left and the stamina wheel which appears when you're using it.
There are so many little touches in the game that just feel amazing, simple shit that you think should work, and it does, like holding apples in your hands and standing in front of your horse to feed it to build a bond with it. Plus you can ride a fucking bear, or a buck, or a goddamn skeleton horse.
It's not a perfect game, there is a lack of enemy variety, the enemy colours change based on the number of enemies killed instead of being regional more dangerous variants. I hate it when games try and level with the player, that shits me. The blood moon is cool though, and is a nice in-game way of explaining monsters respawning while giving some bonuses to cooking, and making some nights that bit more terrifying. The lack of variety in shrine environments and divine beasts, as well as the low number of proper dungeons, is also a bit of a bummer. Honestly, the game really feels like a "first try" and seems like the kind of game that gets a sequel when the developers really know what they're doing and everything just clicks and it ends up amazing. Which I suppose it is, in a way. I really, really hope Nintendo don't backslide on Zelda and revert to a more Skyward Sword style with whatever comes next, but given the sales and the praise that's been heaped on them for this one, I'm not too worried.
So, yeah, it's not perfect, but it is the best open world game in years. It's just fun to play. It lets you loose, gives you toys to play with, and doesn't give you a checklist of shit to do, aside from a few basic quest pointers. There's no "ten enemy outposts and four buried treasures left" shit to check off like you're fucking filling in some shopping list, and then that data gets mailed back to PublisherHQ where they can datamine to find out what features they can cut from the sequel, it's just a game that only asks to be played for fun, and doing that is easy. I haven't seen anything like it in a long time.

Generally maybe, but Skyward Sword was definitely a huge step back and very archaic despite actually including some new neat mechanics, which would be expanded on in BotW.
I'm glad Nintendo actually listened and undestood the point in which the series stagnated. In fact, listening to Matthewmatosis' analysis dating back to like 2012, they basically included everything he proposed for a rebith of the series in BotW, so I'm glad they actually turn an analytical eye on their flagship series and are not afraid to experiment. It seems Mario Odyssey is going that route too, we'll see.

Since the series peaked with LttP, every game has been worse than the last - with the one notable exception of WW which was surprisingly excellent. This also holds true for the Metroid franchise which peaked at Super Metroid, and the Mario franchise which peaked at SMB3.
The safe and rational assumption is that every time Nintendo releases a game, it will be an order of magnitude shittier than what came before it.

Nothing quite like sitting in a boat doing nothing for nearly half of the game. Most other games would be rightfully shit on for having 4 minute load times, but wind waker gets praise. Its not like the boat rides take you to anywhere appealing with the majority of islands being single use or unappealing to return to. Worse yet the dungeons are some od the blandest and most lacking in personality the series ever saw.

It ain't 10/GOAT but it's a really solid game with mechanical possibilities out the ass and a great comfy atmosphere. Variety is somewhat limited to allow you to do whatever the hell you want right from the start, but it just means you get rewarded for experimenting with runes and fucking around in the middle of nowhere. Some areas are easy and some will push your shit in, but if you already know what's up the game will let you do whatever you want to.

There is a teleport system and food you can eat anytime, as well as letting you reload from the last couple checkpoints. This lets you cheese through the game, I admit - but if you're gonna be a faggot you have no one to blame but yourself anyway. It's like saying Doom is too easy because god mode exists. Hero Mode being DLC is some next level kikery though.

You can beat the game in an hour if you're a speedrun assburger, but that's missing the point. Finding new (temporary) equipment and experimenting with how yo best deal with enemies is kind if the highlight since there was actual care put into the systems. It remembers it's a fucking video game and not a movie with some button prompts, to the point where you can skip the whole backstory if you don't want the Master Sword.

Voice acting was a HUGE mistake (though it does mean cut scene hungry faggots got BTFO - if they speak English at least) and the idea that there's an entire story with Link we don't get to see irks me somewhat. But playing Zelda for the lore is like watching porn for the dialog - occasionally great but ultimately the same shit over and over.

Waifubait is strong in this one though. Science Loli, Muscle Loli, Thicc Zelda, Sharktits, Trap Link - goddamn even Pokemon games don't try to be boner fuel this hard.

Performance is ass, too - not an issue if you're emulating I assume, but something I will remain salty about. ( I'm playing with my wife on the Tropical Dong box. Fuck it. Still had more games than PS4 until about a month ago.)

I actually like the bite-sized shrines but admit a few more sprawling dungeons would have helped the game feel more complete. Taming horses is neat, but I'd shank my pony for a fucking Hookshot. I hate that I'm curiois yo see what new DLC is on the horizon - but Nintendo isn't getting a fucking dime unless that New Area is a sizable one. (Even then the main game is like 60 sq km - and a whole lot less empty than MGSV, Mad Max or any other open world title I can think of.)

The story side of things needed work but the game built around it is bretty good. If you like Nintendo charm and polish or are a normalfag at heart you'll love it extra hard.
