They're deduplicated now. If the same file is uploaded multiple times it gets the same filename and URL every time. That saves server storage and makes file URLs last as long as their file is uploaded somewhere, even if the post they came with is gone. It allowed the file size limit to be raised.

All that could have been done while showing more or less the original filenames, though.

You get NMS. I didn't even get to much hyped base building and land vehicles because of how boring it is.
