Is 2017 already shaping up to be the worst year of all times?

butterlord looks kinda sorta promising but as I know turks, they are gonna fuck it up somehow, and my guess is they will fuck up performance really bad

Denuvo will be our bane, young squire

We could see the death of Gearbox, Obsidian or Bioware this year. If one of those companies die it will turn this year around.

I'd buy a futuristic Witcher 3 just to fill the void that cancelled Prey 2 left.

Gearbox will die when they release Memelands 3 and it sells like shit.

oh shit I still hope that email wasnt serious. Was it confirmed by turks?

nah

[spoilers]But isn't Breath of the Wild good?[/spoilers]

I came here to laugh at you

I thought they were pinning their hopes on Bulletstorm with Duke Just'em?

It's alright newfag. Although it's not really a Zelda game.

How naive.

I mean, imagine this made in ProjeckRed's engine?

Nioh is good.

Cockroaches suck at making games

I wonder what direction Gearbox would take if genuine talent turned BL3 into a good to decent game? Would it be a rebirth, or would they return to reform and start dying again.

All that matters is whether or not it's fun.

But 2017 is already the best year of the 10's.

yeah I am hyped for that too but I doubt its coming this year

It won't be as bad as 2016 was.

Reasons:
Bannerlord
Sonic Mania
Sonic Project 2017 (i hope that one will be like colors-generations as promised)
NieR Automata
Kingdoms Come
Nioh is an okay game

It won't be released this year, if you don't want it to be rushed shit, they had small amount of time after witcher 3.

I think they said something about developing BL3 recently. But even if they didn't, there's no way they're dying without first trying to scam some goyim with a new memelands game.

try again retard

Nier is fine albeit quite repetitive but Xenoblade is trash.
And don't delude yourself into thinking Shenmue will be good or even out in 2017.

At least try.

Okay. What the next step of your master plan, stop playing video games?

It's probably going to be bad but I'm holding out hope for Fire Emblem Echoes. As far as I know there's no waifushit (I suspect they would have put it in not for the fact that meant rewriting several canon character endings) and having played the original there isn't much to censor there, it's pretty tame to start with.

...

(you) (you) (you) (you) (you)

at least fuck off back to your shithole

my plan is to play good games not fellate shit from nips

I wouldn't bet on them actually making something good, but if it happened, they'd probably fall in the second option.

Nope, if you like nip games 2017 is shaping up fantastically i've probably even forgotten some shit.

The dev team is hardly turkish. Some of them even have blue eyes.

Have you been away from vidya the last couple years or something?

Sadly that isn't a particularly grand achievement.

Literally the only game I'm looking forward to.

#NotAllRoaches

Every year post 2007/2008 has been shit for triple ayy videogames though.

Turok 2 Remastered comes out on the 16th. Yeah it's a 18 year old game but i'm still looking forward to it.

Are they making the same game but with different backgrounds and ground textures?

I honestly never really got the hype around terraria. Seemed to me like it was just mincraft with one less dimension.

That's all I got out of whats announced for this year. Maybe if Etrian Odyssey V gets announced for the west.

Maybe if you import, sure

Damn it. the wall will be long finished before this damn game comes out.

Btw, Estival Versus PC port on March 17 :^)

Lolno.

Anyways, it's a completely different game with similar mechanics done by a different developer; less Castlevania on steroids and more tower defense.

Terraria 2 is also in the works by the original devs. I'd imagine Otherworld is gonna be a testing ground of sorts for new features.

Xenoblade is a good JRPG but replace it with Sonic Mania, Yakuza 0, Blaster Master Zero, Ys VIII, Cuphead, etc.

You're 60 years too early.

Nope, it's shaping up to be pretty good.

Fuck off redditor. I just so happen to be an expert on this topic. Just look at my fancy red tripfaggotry

Zelda is okay but not as good as the reviews are making it out to be. People are treating it like the 2nd coming of OoT when the weapon durability, bad voice acting and lack of enemy variety hold it back from being great.

Mario Odyssey
Shakedown Hawaii
A Hat in Time

Also, DS3 is getting its final DLC, so that's probably gonna be good, or at least a fitting send off to the series

So what exactly is wrong with Zelda: Breath of the Wild?

There's a shorter list of things that are good about it.

Too much western influence also weapon durability weakens the combat system.

2017 is turning out great so far.

I could swear I've heard that name before. When was this game first announced?

Filtered.

Well that can make it an average game or even above average.

Other than that i found the game to be pretty good.

Hey Mark, honest question here, why don't you make vidya?

Mark
stop

But it's so red and shiny

Alright then could you at least give me an idea as to what you didn't like about it?

What's wrong with Western Influence?

A game about eating cakes?

To me, is was the lack of any good boss and dungeon designs, along with the shitty voice acting, which can be bypassed by switching it over to Spanish. Weapon durability is only an issue if you go after weaker enemies with shit weapons, because all that will lead to will be breaking good weapons and getting shit weapons in return. If you fight more powerful enemies, you get better weapons.
All of the boss fights are just Gannon. Visually, they're all the same, just with different weapons, and the dungeons are too short and easy. There's little reward for dungeons and fighting bosses other than not having to fight that boss in a boss rush mode before you fight gannon.Actually, the game does give you a reward for fighting bosses, like stupidly overpowered abilities that trivialize fights.
And of course most of the game is spent walking.

Everything,

kill yourself jew
i'm serious

Depends on the type of influence, usually the Japanese are better at making their games Japanese. With Zelda it takes too many elements from Far Cry and Skyrim and not enough from say Darksiders or Prototype (although admittedly Prototype doesn't fit Zelda). My point being is that it takes too much from mainstream western games instead of making its own identity.

The only good Jew is a dead Jew.

Western influence used to be good. Most video games, anime, and manga were heavily inspired by the West. Just look at things like Fist of the North Star and Metal Gear for example.
The only problem is that the West is producing shitty media that's not worth copying.

No it needs to be more Mark-like. Maybe a game about derailing threads would be more appropriate.

Unless you have the smash Bros amiibo

Is that the one that gives you Epona?

I barely even play vidya anymore and from what I've seen it's better than the past two at least.

Isn't every amiibo just about used for smash?

Yeah. It's a crock of bullshit.

The Link one specifically.

If you want Epona you need to use the Smash Bros. line Link amiibo.

agreed
now do it you fucking pussy

cdpr has neve rmade a good game. 2017 has been a fantastic year already. If you're a PC gamer I only feel sorry you fell for the meme, there are many good games out on consoles.

I've seen porn ads that have made a more convincing statement.

But 99% of those games will come to PC. It's a viable platform now.

but… I liked W3 and most of those games will be on PC.

...

Early 2018?

Off the top of my head I can think of Nioh, Nier: Automata and gravity rush 2 in just the 3 months we have had of the year. How fucking new are you to think that this is in anyway a bad year compared to the complete shit we have had before?

And why do you have Mass effect: Andromeda listed as a bad thing? Anyone who isn't eagerly looking forward to that trainwreck has no idea how entertaining it will be.

This guy is correct to be honest, jap games are shit and are literally the same release year after year.

Edgy

Yeah it's such a shame I'll never get to experience great games such as Horizon: Zero Dawn!
Silly me for owning a PC.

Nah, fuck that shit

Well there are a few games like Yakuza, Persona 5 and Nioh that are worth a PS4.

But user that's weebshit and my goon mentality can't handle that.

Let's be honest here. Are there ANY good western games coming from western publishers other than a select few?

If that's the case then every year should be the worst year of all times.

Anyways here's some potentially good games off the top of my head:
There, these should be better than last year where the best game was pretty much just a tech demo but a really fun one, referring to Devil Daggers

Actually yeah. 2017 is one of the best looking years of vidya I've seen in awhile
There's probably a couple I'm forgetting, but yeah there's more games I'm going to actually buy this year than I have in the past 3 combined. Yeah lots of shit too, but some good stuff actually is/has coming out this year.

Maybe the consumers have been milked, need to put tv on the head, and when that's boring you will get your head inside the tv, and then mark of the beast, and then you're fucked.

Electronic heroin.

...

I have weeb games I'm lookin forward to. To me, 2017 is a fuckin great year in terms of games coming out because I don't bother with Western AAA bullshit. Zelda and RE7 are pretty much western tier with their new releases, but games like Automata and Nioh bring me hope of better days.

Yes, ask the people complaining about it what they enjoy. They hate everything.

This. It's shaping up to be a year of great games. If you only focus on the Triple Ayyy shit, then you'll only find shit.

We do this every year. Faggots who muck around in nothing but negativity and play barely anything just bitch and moan that everything is terrible while ignoring plenty of good games.

MEHMET MY SON

Kingdoms Come

I'm just thankful the robot tag on all the different boorus I go to hasn't been shat up by HZD.

...

...

Yes it is.

Every year is the worst year of all times.

Nip fellating Sonygger consolefags such as yourself should be banned on sight.

I'm disappointed.

>Music is absent most of the game, when it's present, it's worse than the other Zelda's. Listen to youtube.com/watch?v=J_TzYGd9pjk.

It's a 6/10 for me.

You hit the nail on the fucking head.

pretty much how I feel

Would you say it's worse than Skyward Sword? What's with that musical track? God damn, are there at least tracks that match embed related?

Yeah wouldn't it be a nightmare if one of those guys was in charge of the board or something

The entire soundtrack is a single piano. It was probably a one-man operation

MUCH better than Skyward Sword, although that isn't saying much.

I should specify, the entire overworld and "dungeon" soundtrack is a single piano, there's slightly more to the town themes. Still not great

But Mark is a Nintentoddler, not a Sonygger.

Probably the only decent boss fight in the game other than the desert worms. The fight with the desert worms reminds me how we will never have a game based off of Tremors.

you replied to me. Look at the ID :^)

Why is the soundtrack so terrible? Did they have interns working on it or something? Did they kill Koji Kondo and replace him with an incompetent clone that was developed by lizard people? This is quite depressing, especially when you consider that the majority of Zelda games to date have had excellent music. I imagine in a few years we'll start to see kids waxing nostalgic about this garbage music.

...

wat?

i'm surprised there wasn't a (0) next to your post with a bait thread like this

It is unquestionably worse than Skyward Sword. Skyward Sword had dungeons, music, and the story, while hit or miss, was much better than BotW.

Holla Forums can laugh as much as it wants at the idea of the Zelda cycle, but there weren't multiple people defending Skyward Sword before last week

Hmm which game is better? I cannot think of a single great quality that Breath of the Wild has.

I encountered a few people defending SS in my time. Granted they were few in number, however they existed nonetheless.

It doesn't force you to wait through two hours of tutorials before the game starts, it doesn't make you recalibrate the motion controls every ten minutes, it doesn't have a sidekick that interrupts you with pointless numerical stats every few minutes, and it didn't retcon the entire series. That's at least four points in its favor over SS

speaking of which, I noticed that the Joycons work well as a wiimote, granted there needs to be some kind of calibration button, however the pointer functionality is kinda there.

Sorry but that won't cut it.

...

It has been forever, you kike.

When you argue that SS had good dungeons, music, and story, we can talk

Couldn't say, I don't have a Switch

And here we can see the Zelda Cycle happening right before our very own eyes. Tune in in 5 years for Breath of the Wild to be lauded by Holla Forumsirgins as a good game.

**BotW is a great game (I'd say a 7.5/10) and
also points to excellent 2017 games. There was also Yakuza 0. All of this in less than 3 months. This year has been great and contrarian/negative fags can bitch and moan all day and night. It won't stop us from having fun with good vidya.**

I fucked up. bully me.

oh right. It's on WiiU as well.

Well let's start with this shall we.

Hmm really makes you think.

Here's what Breath of the Wild is like.

Pros:

Cons:

Did you know someone who played Skyward Sword when they were 12 is now old enough to post here?

Well shit, I was hoping that this game would take what made Dragon's Dogma good and actually finish it but it sounds like it's similarly unfinished.

>Not Gerudo Link

Well they're unfinished for different reasons. Dragon's Dogma is unfinished because Capcom's board is filled with retards who lost faith in the wide appeal of the product. Breath of the Wild is unfinished because they had to scrap a bunch of things to redirect their efforts to the Switch port and then couldn't be given extra time to finish it because it had to release at the same time as the Switch

Don't know why you'd compare them anyway, DD is not a good open world game, it's a good action RPG

Oh whoops

2012

...

They both tried to be somewhat similar and failed in different ways, DD failed in having open world memes like quest markers (and little to do), BotW apparently failed in gameplay variety, and both of them failed in being unfinished.

I think they're similar because the appeal for both of them seems to be [TECHNOLOGY] like climbing on big dudes and having lots of subtle gameplay mechanics like BotW's fire/wind and stuff in DD like food rotting.

My nigga.

Really hope it doesn't become vaporware.

Mark, please just fucking allow self-moderation already.

People need to be able to unite against actual retards that don't stop shitposting until an actual volunteer stomps it out.

Come on, underage b&, don't do this. It's more similar to the original Legend of Zelda than any other game in the series. All they did trash the formula that has been rotting for years and years and go back to the absolute core of Zelda: Cmbat, Puzzles, and Exploration. Puzzles weren't much of a thing until A Link to the Past, but it still became a core element. It's very un-Zeldaish, yet is the most pure Zelda in years.

If the only reason you play video games is to see the credits roll then yeah, I guess this is a bad thing. If you actually play to just have fun, it's a non-issue. Some of your other points are valid though, there was way too little enemy variety for one, and horses seemed utterly pointless what with the mountains everywhere.

...

Even by Tales standards it's a shit game, fucking reddit tier image.

What about Nier and Yakuza 0? Why didn't you post those which are actually good?

THE SHILLING IS REAL KEK

Last GOTY from Bioware

You shills are too obvious.

put two *'s on each side of what you want to spoil

Is this the official position of the salty spergs on the Zelda general? You really are sore losers, if you believe the "Holla Forums hates everything" meme to the point of damaging your own.

Monster hunter XX has me excited, but that's probably cheating as it's just XG.

It's the best we've had in a decade. Stop cherry-picking the garbage that gets released yearly, not to mention a lot of those came out last year. Plus, a year is defined by its good games, not its bad ones. I couldn't care less if 99% of games that release were terrible as long as it meant more good ones came out because you're not fucking forced to buy and play each and every game. But Holla Forums doesn't play games, people here just critique games they haven't played.

Honestly I'm really hyped for Nier and Shadows of War.
Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2 is going to be released this spring for the West. (Hopefully)
Tales of Berseria was pretty refreshing after the trainwreck that was Zesteria.
Persona 5 looks promising, too bad I don't have a PS4 and only a PC.
Sonic Mania looks…optimistic.
I'm probably forgetting a game or two but that's what I'm looking forward to this year.
R8 my taste and call me a faggot if you must.

Well, if anything its about as empty as the NES Zelda.

Is there a rundown on why Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be bad? Is it just Holla Forums disliking CDPR after Witcher 3 or is there a bigger list of stuff?

What are you referring to?

It's been a ton of awful trash with some pretty great highlights. Hopefully we get more good stuff, and maybe see Bioware evaporate.

I guess saying any positives about a game is shilling now.

>it's fun

Why don't you want to have a relaxing time casually shooting brown people, OP?

But why? SoM was standard ol' Arkham's Creed combat with collectathon gameplay and this one looks like the lore rape will be even worse. I'll tolerate inconsistency in logic and marty stu characters, but SoW goes against the entire theme of LotR (we're gonna fight the ring of power by… making a ring of power)

Stuff like dehardcoding so we can change game mechanics, physics (already being worked on), character morphs, redone animation system to allow for combat overhauls, actual NPC scheduling, enhanced scripting system, and PBR.

Most of that isn't being worked on at the moment since everyone just wants to get 1.0 out of the way which means fixing minor bugs. I expect they'll hit 1.0 within the next couple months because the remaining issues the game has are pretty minor.

Doesn't it have Denuvo though?

The halflets in this thread need to take their prescribed cyanide pills, the future of 2017 has more promise than the past 5 years, and these 2 and a half months are already better than the entirety of 2013, 2014, and 2015.

Of course, you're not allowed to like games on Holla Forums

I haven't been keeping up with OpenMW development recently, but I wasn't aware that kind of thing was even on the table. Probably time to re-download.
Has there been any improvement with framerate issues in the big cities in Tamriel Rebuilt?

Because shooting you in real life would be illegal.

No idea, I haven't been to the mainland in awhile. I do know that some of Scrawl's recent commits have had some pretty nice FPS improvements (20-30%), I can't maintain 60 in Balmora (and presumably the bigger TR cities) so 0.42 will be nice.

Oh good the Zelda cycle

Not saying it is the best game of all time or doesn't have flaws but all those flaws you said are non issues, opinions or just wrong so its understandable that some people wouldn't be bothered by them.

Oh and the FPS is pretty much always bottlenecked at draw calls which is why implementing Vulkan into OSG will be a big priority after 1.0

Yes Truly like The Legend of Zelda™, Zelda™ has truly returned to it's roots! Make sure to play it on the Switch™ for the true Zelda experience!

People can like the game, it just seems like blatant shilling by trying to play off peoples nostalgia when the game is nothing like The Legend of Zelda.

...

Is this true? Holy shit

This better be a jape.

"incomplete product as an artistic statement"?
Also replace the zelda part for games in general. Developers nowadays are too retarded to put story in a game without it being 50GBs of cutscenes. Even some consoletard forums are getting tired of that shit.

Its amazing how much this place continues to sink.

2017 is definitely the worst year for all reasons, especially if you're American

I was reading some archives 4chan threads from 2012 the other day and i honestly couldn't tell the difference from this place and current 8/v/ other than the bigger amount of tripfags.

Wildlands is ok (if you have 3 friends) but the action should've been set in Mexico.
also lightish-red weapon skin

Reminder that FLCL is getting two more seasons for no fucking reason

Are there any at all besides Val and Mark? And ROB?

He Will Not Divide us brought too many halflets, and I'm sure that the flag theft will only bring more. It's still not as bad as present day halfchan, but it's still declined in quality since 2014. Hell, it's declined in quality since mid 2016.

archived*

I meant to say compared to 2014 and compared to 2016.

Yeah, 4AM has a few and some of the dedicated server threads like FFXI have some too. Also the Anton and coolpecker guy.

When is something ever not declining in quality?

What did i miss?

A bunch of anons used their weaponised autism to find the location of the HWNDU flag after Shia moved it to a secret location, and replaced it with a MAGA hat.

Well that is a stupid con because it's your choice to do so. The whole point of the game is exploration and if you don't do that to rush to the games conclusion and blame that their is nothing to do, that is your fault. That's like complaining in Far Cry 4 that you can get to the ending if you just wait in the beginning room.

Anyway, it would be hard to beat beat Ganon straight forwardly since you've got the durability system and the many multiple forms you take and damage you get dealt with just one hit if you don't get more hearts or better gear. You have to be speedrunner ready to accomplish that feat. The fatest at the moment is 1 hour 5 minutes but supposedly the creator says it is doable in 15 minutes which is hard to scope how that is possible with a lot of tricks done in the current fastest speedrun.

I'm glad to hear scrawl is back and doing good work.

It took less than 48 hours and involved the use of star positions, flight patterns, and playing marco polo with music in a car and the stream.

I guess it depends on what you went in expecting. If you wanted a 3D Zelda like OoT through TP you'll be disappointed. If you wanted a Samurai Jack simulator you'll be all over that shit. I guess if I actually spent money on it I'd be salty over all the problems with it but it's so easy to pirate I don't know why anyone would actually pay $60.

After someone got shot off camera in Albuquerque, the HWNDU stream went offline for two weeks or so, and went up 2 days ago just showing a flag. /hwndu/ concentrated all their autism into determining the exact location of the flag by looking at plane flight plans, star mapping, and so on. Then one of them went over and stole the flag less than 2 days later. Pretty sure Shia's on suicide watch now, and while the whole thing is hilarious and I don't regret them stealing it, it'll only bring more halflets.

To add on to that argument, you can just go to Dagoth Ur in Morrowind and beat the game in 3:14 minutes but I don't think you'd soon find people saying that everything in the game is pointless.

Which side shot which?

All the overworld, puzzle, and temple complaints could easily describe wind waker, twilight princess, and skyward sword. BotW has them too, but not nearly to the degree of crap other recent 3D zeldas do. It's been an increasing issue with each new zelda and they're finally rolling them back, but it'd be ridiculous for all the cancer to disappear in one game. The music, dlc, and fast traveling complaints are 100% legit. Weapons breaking is a mixed bag, as the resource management can be fun and it gives incentives to use everything at your disposal, plus it gives other substantial rewards for exploring. Then again, if it was that good, then armor would break too. You also have the issue of enemies becoming health sponges if you're limiting yourself to weaker weapons, eventually resorting to bombs after breaking your equipment. I'm having a hard time thinking of alternatives that incentivizes you to switch up weapons without it turning into puzzle combat.

Despite the flaws it has, it's been far better than the last few zeldas and didn't make me want to quit the series in disgust. You aren't forced through the same bullshit that's become an albatross of the series and it can be a real challenge if you limit yourself like 3 heart runs (can't really do with weapons though). That's what the original did, gave you heart containers and more powerful equipment if you sucked dick.

The shooting was unrelated to the stream, it was a drive-by I think.

Idk why honestly, I just liked Shadows of Mordor a lot and played that to absolute 100%.
I can't really give you a too well diagnosis for why I liked it so much outside of "I liked the old AC games a lot and this felt like what AC3 should have been."

Sounds like they are truly making a change for the survival of the white race with that kind of niggerish school behaviour.

Holla Forums can't be worse than it already is with Imkikefy driving the board off a bridge.

Pretty sure im the only person on the planet that even knows about this. Let alone looking forward to it. I just want to fuck around in a full 3D Little big planet.

Actually you can't do 3 heart runs at all because the Mustard Sword can only be drawn with 14 or better Heart Containers. Which means you'd have to spend all your Korok Seeds on weapon slots cause you're gonna need a fuckton

Having a fairly open world is the only thing they have in common, and even then, their approaches to the concept are very, very different.

You are truly the bearer of good news.

ohboyherewego.jpg

nigga are you serous? there are plenty of dungeons with more than one room. they might not be fully fleshed out dungeons but they have more than one puzzle to solve

Yeah that shit's never coming out, maybe in 2077.

Ebin maymay bro, have an upboat xD.

The biggest problem with BOTW's secrets is that so many are either super easy or trivialized by the fact that you can heal or equip anything at any time you want
what's the point?

...

You just need to have faith user, th-they can do a good job

look satan, i'm not trying to argue in breath of the wild's favor here or anything, but really in 90% of games if players are dedicated or autistic enough they can break the game. think of how many battles you've cheesed in any RPG or diablo or whatever by just chugging potions like crazy instead of grinding and leveling

Yeah man, it's not happening. Trust me I want it to be good too.

I've been playing BoTW since launch, have about 80 hours invested into it, 34 shrines done, 3 divine beasts done.

So far, I'd easily rate it 7. 5/10, but the magic is slowly starting to wear off because as you progress further into the game, there's less incentive to explore and finding shit to do beyond a fetch quest is tiring

So in other words, it's your typical 3D Zelda game but with an autistic physics engine and weapon durability. If you liked the GameCube Zeldas you'll probably like Breath of the Wild.

Honestly, the game would be a straight 10/10 if:
Overall, the game does something for me that very little open world games tend to accomplish: and that's a sense of adventure. Yesterday, I was talking to a creepy old fuck named Robbie who told me to take off my clothes. Then he sent me on a quest to hike an entire mountain to bring a blue flame from the mountain peak's furnace to his furnace. Sounded easy enough, but by the time I lit my torch at the mountain peak, I saw the weather forecast had rain within the next 15 minutes. So on my long journey down I lit up the lanterns down the path to his hut, and it eventually started raining. My torch went out, but the lanterns on the road stayed lit. It was roadblock in my journey and it really increased the overall scale for me. By the time the rain had stopped, I went through a bloodmoon and had to take care of a lot more monsters before finally making it up the hill. Such a simple little fetch quest turned into something much more adventurous because of the game's organic abstraction. I liked that.

The game's being a little overhyped by normalfags right now, but I think BoTW is definitely gonna be the OoT killer simply because it pushes a few game design envelopes (such as open world games not excessively holding your hand and being playable without quest markers) and also setting the standards for hopefully creating a superior sequel. let's be honest though, the next Zelda game is gonna have full on voice acting, RPG-lite stats, and full crafting system

Except this isn't breaking the game or chugging for potions, this is "oh, we can't have players mess up and miss this piece of content, so we're going to let them heal through this endurance challenge" it completely defeats the point

Well Satan, I think the point is that you can make the game as easy or hard as you want to through exploration and gaining more powerful items/equipment. The problems of good equipment and food can easily be applied to the Elder Scroll games as well. What makes it a good game is you have a choice. You can tackle the dungeons or not. You can seek out resistant clothing or not. You can seek out the story flashbacks or not. The game doesn't make you jump through the same 3 fucking starter dungeons themed exactly the same and follow a crappy story. My complaints would be that you are forced to an extent to collect better weapons, but Hyrule Castle had plenty if you could survive long enough to get at them. Also I'm not sure if you could do a 3 heart run because of the master sword. Can you beat it without the sword?

I genuinely dont get how you people are that disappointed, I've been more happy this year than last year in terms of games. Yakuza 0 alone made it worthwhile but the fact that Kiwami and Poetry of Life are making it over as well makes me excited. RE7 also had a pretty good demo that actually makes me want to buy the final game, and there's loads of games that interest me like

Damn shame some of you guys are jaded but I hope you guys are using this as an opportunity to play games on your backlog, and not just saying you are but actually shitposting your lives away.

That's some shit taste

What the fuck do you expect pleb?

I remember the reveal for that, it looks interesting but I just wonder how on earth it's going to work.

I'm not gonna argue that the industry has been going down the drain since the end of the PS2 era, but i've seen worst years

I like the music. For instance, this theme played in a big labyrinth with very high walls & it really suited the place. (it's around Gerudo Desert if you wanna check it out) The only "piano riffs" track I actually dislike is the horse-riding one since IMO it conveys more of a nervous feeling than a relaxed feeling I'd prefer during a horseback ride.

And your taste in games is that better, huh?

I thought the lost woods in this game was pretty cool. I thought it was neat how you had to pay attention to the wind.

Don't get the hate on zelda. We might even get to play it on PC soon.

It's looking like it'll be a great year tbh. Berseria was way better than Zestiria - it's impressive how I liked side characters of Berseria like Dyle and Kurogane more than I did the main party in Zestiria. That's what removing cancer like Baba from your team does. And BoTW is really good by the way It has it's flaws like literally every other game in existence, but it's definitely a very good title.

What's the problem with weapons breaking? If that wasn't there, I'd just keep using the best weapons and higher quality stuff doesn't break fast. 10 hits is accurate for branches or boko clubs, though, but stuff like knight broadswords seems to be way more durable. The problem is not weapons breaking because that makes me use a variety of weapons against worthwhile opponents and is fun, but the fact I just keep using bombs or environment against low-level mobs I have to get rid off to not pointlessly waste durability of a weapon. They should've made it so one-shotting enemies doesn't take away its durability.

The music is not bad, it's just… Not there most of the time and short. Puzzles however aren't worse than in any other Zelda game. Did you play the game or previous 3d titles? I don't know what you were expecting here, it seems same as other Zelda games except for the obvious fact it contains different solutions because Link has different abilities now. Sure, the ones found in areas with easy opponents are usually easy but the ones you'll encounter in other areas are typically harder (though sometimes it is the other way around). If you didn't play other 3d Zeldas and/or this one, watch their puzzles and compare them to BoTW's. You don't need to have 300 IQ to solve either.

The world isn't empty. There's Koroks to find everywhere, some also hidden behind puzzles, there's shrines, fighting, and even climbing hills/mountains typically is rewarded with a Korok or at least high ground to see stuff from to know where to go. Sure, the content might not be as tightly spread as in Gothic 1 or 2 NOTR, but the only 3d games like that are Gothic 1 and NOTR. I mean, the inital plateau alone seems like it's comparable to the size of Gothic 1's world, if it's not bigger.

Seriously, if BoTW is empty, then the only non-empty RPGs I can name are Gothics as they're pretty much filled to the brim and the only way to go somewhere without encountering either quests, enemies or people to potentially beat up or at least talk to is having already done it and not reaching another chapter, but as it is BoTW beats other games I can think of in content spread and how worth it is to explore stuff and manipulate environment.

Fast travelling during combat is your choice - you can use it, but that's your own fault and choice. I didn't even think that's possible, though, most games disable their travel and rest systems during a fight or at least make it hard to use (for instance, teleport rune animation can be disrupted in Gothics IIRC, but Gothics have a fair share of "exploits" of their own).

Towers are ubisoftish only in the fact you climb them, they often require you to solve a puzzle, like the one at Gerudo required crate bullshit before it could be approached because the wind was an obstacle from the higher ground, etc. Towers also do not mark all side quests/places of importance. In fact they do not do that at all and you must search for everything yourself and it's worthwhile to mark whatever shrine you see on Sheikah slate's map anyway, the towers only write the names of areas down and show you what the geography of the terrain is. I don't get your "a tower that can be climbed = ubisoft".

The game is not perfect so why not make better complaints, like "sidequests are mostly shit with shit rewards with rare exceptions"? Or the fact that content might be everywhere and is usually a net positive and arguably worth exploring, but over time wilingness to get there just disappears because the game is very long, large and overwhelming while some stuff you get is just not worth it? Now that I played 50+ hours, I sometimes need some time away from the game after every two hours I spend on it - might be due to me taking it too fast, though. Other problems are no easy cooking recipe overview, no cooking more than 1 of the same dish or Cryosis being almost exclusively for dungeons/puzzles with very rare in-game applications. Others have their applications, even stasis has tons, so at least give me an upgrade that'd create slippery ice on the floor like Dark Messiah. That'd be tons of fun to use, I don't know why obvious stuff like that isn't there.

Then I guess you'll get to understand the hate.

Here's the thing with Nintendo: they develop in a bubble. They think the rest of the world doesn't exist and for Nintendo fanboys, it may as well not.

The number of faggots I've seen claiming the game is ground breaking for having a Half Life 2 tier physics engine and mildly interesting NPC AI is astonishing. The only the thing the game has done far and away better than any other game is probably the grass, which looks amazing under the right light.

Otherwise the game is fucking bland, empty and a pale imitation of what a Zelda game should be. It's got shit combat with incredible inconsistencies, the fucking rain exists to ruin your day on a regular basis and cooking and weapon durability are giant busywork chores that seem to be there just to pad the already excessive playtime considering the size of the world.

It's not a very good game, let alone a very good Zelda game. Nintendo's developing in a bubble means that it feels like a remaster of some 10+ year old game. It has a lot of the same design philosophies in it as Far Cry 2 of all games. So that gives you an idea of where Nintendo is in the development cycle. Their hardware kinda shows it now too…

name one single good indie game, communist faggot. NAME FUCKING ONE.

Hotline Miami

Your mom.
She's good and single. Trust me, I know.

2017 has already been better than the whole of 2016. What a truly awful year.

Are you fucking braindead?

...

How is that even an argument? I am not arguing whether the Switch itself is good or not as a console, doesn't necessarily make the games shit. Try harder next time.
And it's still only 2 (3 if you count Zelda) Switch-exclusive games out of the whole list, which you just scrolled over, genius.

Its actually pretty cool from what i've seen. They did regular livestreams a while back. They uploaded them on their youtube. Its worth a look if youre interested in this type of game. I wonder why this game is getting absolutely zero marketing. It appeared once at E3 and then it was complete radio silence. The only way you found information about it was if you went and looked for it yourself.

...

Also forgot Gravity Rush 2, Tekken 7 and probably a fuckload of other stuff.

Le reddit bobby faic xD

Dustforce

Mother fucker I was just playing that.
Still can't SS Hideout.
It's the only level I can't for the love of god SS

I agree the four Divine Beast dungeons are disappointing, lacking scale or variation in themes, but the shrines have some interesting puzzles at times.

I most enjoy the little riddles you must solve to find hidden shrines. There's some that play with the lighting system using shadows to unlock them. For instance, in one situation it's suggested that you cast a cold shadow over the platform so you have to hold a big snowball over your head & align it's shadow with the center of the platform. Another instance, it's suggested that an arrows is fired into the light from the shadow of the tower (Gerudo tower) so you must wait until the shadow of the tower falls over a platform, stand on the platform & fire an arrow up at the sun. Another instance, there's a huge pillar-like mountain in the center of Rito village & it has a hold in it that casts a heart-shaped shadow over a platform & there's a song conveyed by two Rito women that provides verses about lighting a fire in the heart so you have to shoot a fire arrow at the platform when the hart shape light in the shadow is on top of it. Unrelated to shadows, there's one hidden shrine that suggests you require something with a "crown of bone", in this case, you must mount a buck & ride it to the platform to activate the hidden shrine.

In terms of enemies. I found the Lynel to be the most entertaining fights. Far more entertaining than the bosses within the four Divine Beast dungeons. Definitely more entertaining than big Guardians who can be easily defeated with nothing but a pot lid. The big Guardians should mix it up by attacking with their spider legs or throwing chunks of earth or jumping or anything. At least the small Guardians mix it up, but their combat tests are encountered so often they become tedious.

Although ZBotW has shortcomings there are still aspects of it I greatly enjoy.

I think everyone would be a little less smug if there was an achievement for the levels past Giga

...

Sonic Mania
Project Sonic
Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition
Prey

Because it's a shittier gta 5, which is already irreedemable trash. At least you didn't (directly) pay for it but you're experiencing something called "your friends are fun, but the game isn't".
Suicide yourself.

But Zelda was actually really good. At least the best Zelda since WW.

Its coming out this month nigger

Kikestarter disappointment inbound.
I already played wipeout.
Scamco hasn't had a good game in years, I don't expect this to be any different.
PC version is denuvo'd, not paying for publisher retardation.
Another Treehouse'd trainwreck? On Nintendos new dead console? What could possibly go wrong?

Actually you don't need the sword and the whole game only takes about an hour

It's a reskin of Mario Sunshine the dev keeps shilling here.

...

Fuck off fanboy.

Can't you all just fuck off back to cuckchan already? What kind of a moron wastes their money on consoles?

gb2r

Ah, my mistake.
Thank you for the clarification.

Hollow Knight is the only good game of the year until now.
I hope freedom planet 2 and sonic mania will be good too.
Also, if you keep looking at AAA games you will keep getting disappointed.

I did it with 13, lad.

im looking forward to shadow of war since i liked shadow of mordor a lot

Not worse than the last year.

Sony always win

Did anyone honestly expect it to be a better year? It's gonna get worse and worse. Only way it's gonna get better is if we purge shitlibs and get rid of huge inflated budgets. I haven't bought a videogame in years, I only come here because I've got nothing better to do and no other sites to browse.

Let's see

>Nioh is breddy gud if not for the fact it's stuck on the PS4
>Bannerlorrd this year hopefully

What are you smoking, nigger?
youtube.com/watch?v=2nkdPTs5hf0

last year we got trump.
best year

Is this just a yearly thread at this point?

A lot more than BOTW tbh

zelda.gamepedia.com/Enemies_in_The_Legend_of_Zelda

Its a shame really, i hope nintendo can get around that somehow and add more in the future possibly. But its IS nintendo were talking about here.

Breath of the wild is actually good. Its link to the past 3D

Berseria came out this year, and its very good. The gameplay is excellent and velvet is super edgy. Berseria has been the only good tales since Vesperia came out.

Hollow Knight is a great metroidvania and we hadn't had a good metroidvania in years. Actual Metroidvania, not mini-metroidvania like axiom verge.

Master Blaster Zero is the best Master Blaster we've seen since the first.

New river city ransom on steam this month. It's worth playing.

Nier 2

Persona 5

sorry just realized i double spaced and people will get triggered as reddit spacing

no. Freedom planet was never good. It's shit. Sonic Mania will be cute but it won't be as good as Hollow Knight. I have 30 hours on it. Excellent game.

What does that even mean?
At least someone with taste around here.

Mark, nuke the fucking thread. You're making people worry about the board just because you're not banning retards frequently enough.

This entire thread deserves to be nuked because edgy redditors and console fanboys

Well, there's gonna be DLC, but the vague descriptions just make it seem like a few bits of content added in a bubble and not additions to the sandbox as a whole

(checked)
It is becoming a weekly thread lately

So these are template threads?

more reason to ban them. Honestly Mark should grow some balls and start actually cracking down and forcing his team of FOR FREEs to do the same or risk losing their imaginary power

For such a big open world and such a large history of enemies im surprised they managed to fit in only that much amount of enemies. excluding the reskins

I have no doubt that there must have been cut content, especially with the amout of shrines that are just

OH YOU'VE ALREADY PROVEN YOURSELF, JUST TAKE THIS SHIT AND GO
when they could have been actual puzzles instead.

I realize the game isnt perfect and thats alright but videogames nowadays always manage to find a way to disappoint me one way or the other, even though botw is still a pretty damn decent game.

Axiom Verge is a metroidvania, but the game is indie hipster shit. The game is a mini-game.
mini-metroidvania.

I remember Zach and Chris ripping on it for being stupid and convoluted for animating. I forget what E3 it was but TBG streamed it

It really seems like one of those games where more time was put into the autism technology than on meaningful content
They didn't do a horrible job of it, but instead of being as wide and deep as an ocean, it's more like an overflowing sink, if that makes any sense

As much as i both love autism tech and content your analogy makes complete sense and in that case id rather have a filled bathtub full of soap and rubber duckies

I wouldn't say cut content. But there was definitely more shit that the dev team wanted to add to it that didn't make the cut. This happened with most 3D Zeldas, anyway. You have to realize botw is the first game Nintendo ever did of this scope and it couldn't be delayed any further as it HAD to be a Switch launch title and the Switch HAD to be released before the end of this (((fiscal year))).

In the end, I hope they pick up what was good about BotW and expand upon it while at least putting a band-aid on the weak spots. Next Zelda might be to BotW what a A Link to the Past was to Zelda 1 and that might be really amazing.

user, cmon.

I understand why you could thing it's a hipster thing, but I still don't get what about that game was 'mini', it wasn't THAT short.

Xenoblade, arguably.

Gaming will be good again when people who want to decide what others can and can't put in their games leave.

Has posting bait pictures for the purpose of giving (You)s devolved to the purpose of denying reality?

The difference is that there is that you will get a much worse ending if you decide to leave the waiting room and play the game to its entirety. If you only get the best ending if you decide to wait.

Most of the shrines that tell you that you've already proven yourself had the puzzle on the outside, rather than inside the shrine. Not that much of a problem IMO.

The game was mini in every sense of the word. From content to substance

aside from theft, nothing about that is niggerish, kike

That too, was unfinished.

The story just ends off in a cliffhanger after chapter 12 and there is still a bunch of shit that went unresolved.

Although there is A LOT more enemies in that game though compared to botw.

BotW looks alright. Makes me want to buy a Switch, but I'm probably gonna store it in a closet and wait for homebrew after I'm finished with it. I'm at least not stupid enough to buy a console on launch with high hopes–I have my disappointment under management with a plan.

Are you sure you're not talking about X?
The first Xenoblade was finished. I don't care about X much, just hope that 2 actually delivers, cause the trailer sends some worrying signals to me.

It was finished but they cut the bionis shoulder from the game, it was the original place colony 6 was going to be.

If only you knew how bad things really are.

Also yes, it looks to be quite a bad year. We probably would be better off making our own crowdsourced (ie ideas turning into huge design documents, getting the best writer anons together and so on) vidya to show all the newfags and normalfags what true vidya is supposed to be like.

Why does /leftycuck/ insist on posting outside of their hugbox?

When President Trump pulls the plug on all the leftie funding, goes after Commiefornia and kicks out the Chynese, at least half of our vidya troubles will melt before the sun.

I got those 2 Kingdom Hearts collections on PS4 in fucking wonderful 60FPS, I think it's a good start for me. And Nier, once I play the first one.

You must be retarded. How have you put 80 hours but only have 34 shrines and 3 divine beasts?

This game isn't just bad, anons. It's so bad it angers me. Not that I wasted the money, but just the decisions the developers made fucking BOTHER me, a lot. It's not even a good "first try" at a 3rd person fighter, its not even a good 3rd person anything.

Also, normalfag friend stopped playing about a week after launch.

How many times has this happened?
Stop doing it you fucking dumbass

and you bought it
kill yourself

...

Honnestly, its the first time I allowed it to happen, normally I tell them to go fuck themselves or buy it for me.

Wanna kiss and hold hands?

Wanna know how I can tell you haven't actually played the game?

Hard Mode: Name a multiplayer game that was good/looks to be good.

Unreal Tournament

You're a faggot. It's easy to consider it a "good year" if you will happily play shit games.

I'll give you that one lad. It's just annoying that multiplayer games seem to suck or be non-existant as the norm now, and single-player experiences are getting gradually worse.

i like for honor a lot
it definitely has some flaws but the combat is really fun

i think some people shrug it off for the wrong reasons – like getting their ass kicked when they start out

Have we ever had a year that wasn't the worst year in gaming within this decade? I swear I've seen a thread like this every year, and it's usually true.

People say "we have this thread every year guys" as if that means it's just a phase.
But I'm pretty sure you're right. It's not a phase, it's just that each year is worse than the last. Except 2007, which is a shitty pinnacle.

It's my personal belief that most of us keep paying attention to the video game industry for the sole reason of seeing just how shitty it can get. I feel bad for the few who have hope.

Literally looks romhack tier. What's the big deal about this game?

The worst recent years were 2008/2009

I'd say that's only partially true.

2007 through 2009 were the worst not because of the games themselves but because that's the point the industry took a sharp dive into the territory it's gone lower and lower into. I'd say the games of 2016 were worse than on those years, but the sheer steepness of the decline is larger in 2007-2009. We went from okay to total shit back then, now we're just going from shit to shitter.

Its what people have been asking Sega to do for ages and its done by a collaboration of some of the best romhackers out there with Sega.

Its like Nintendo partenered with the AM2R guys to make it an official game while giving them a budget.

As always, Sega does ehat Nintendon't

Not really, I actually think we saw a turn for the better in 2014 onwards, its been slowly getting better since then.

...

Unless you play mostly AAA garbagr you know its true.

Choose 1 FFS.

Blatantly false. I know you indiefags like to pretend you're profound but indie titles are just as bad if not worse than AAA titles on the whole.

Pharaoh Rebirth

Ok

I see. AM2R was fucking amazing, I'll give you that. In fact, if Nintendo did that for a new 2D Metroid, that would be fucking awesome.

Good job. Now find another 2000 or so to outweight the 10000 indie games released on the level of Iron Snout.

Yes, because 7th Gen wasn't full of licensed shovelware and mere shovelware.
In fact, there are no good games on the PS2 due to all the shovelware

What games of the ones I named do you consider shit and why?

For the guy who said "AAA garbage" you're a massive faggot. As I said, Indie games have both a larger number and higher percentage of garbage titles.

Tekken 7 is going to be just as bad as 6 was and likely worse, BoTW sucks ass (not as bad as Skyward but still), South Park will be poor gameplay-wise just like the last one, Xenoblade 2 sucked, Cuphead is going to be astoundingly short and without replay value. In fact it seems given the way you phrased your post that you're a Nintendrone, and I suspect you bought a Switch. In this case you have no right to be commenting on quality of games.

BotW is good. It's maybe not astounding as it first seems, but definitely not a bad game.
South Park 1 was good. Yeah, it was too easy and on a short side, but it laid a good foundation for a quality Paper Mario clone, and I don't rhink the sequel will be worse as long as Matt and Trey are directing.
Haven't played Tekken 6, so can't comment and you may be right on that, but I liked TTT2.
Xenoblade 2 isn't even out, unless you mean Xenoblade X and in that sense I kinda agree. But since X2 is (probably) a somewhat direct sequel I expect them to return to the formula of the first one, which I loved. Although some things in the trailer do worry me.
I don't really care if Cuphead is short, would be a good thing in my book, rather than being padded out, as long as it's good game it's alright. I love boss-rush type of games and liked Furi (although there were a lot of things to be improved), so I don't know how you can say it'll have no replay value when it does by virtue of being a boss-rush game.

Turok 2
NuPrey
Dusk
Agony
Serious sam 4
Ass effect Analdrama just to see the shitshow that ensues and to see the game BOMB
System Shock Remake and SS3

South Park Fractured But Whole

i'll probably buy a ps4 just to play this.
