Technically yes, this can be done fairly easily .. ON PAPER. But teaching kids to do it this way is literally teaching them "an algorithm," and it's teaching them to do everything in almost twice the number of operations every time. There's no way anyone's going to be able to do this in their head.

523-176 is 3 operations via the "old math."
413-176 is 3 operations via the "new math."
The commoncore method is 5 operations.

My own number (which was not intentionally 8888 at the end, but that's funny anyway) is 4 operations via old and new math, but via commoncore is 6 operations to reach the original number, a 7th operation to place all the digits together to add them together, and an 8th operation to add them all together. That is literally twice the operations.

Given a few seconds, I can do subtraction or addition of most numbers in my head with a precision within 5% accuracy depending on how quick it has to be done. With commoncore, I would never be able to do it in my head at all, I would need a piece of paper on hand. If I have a piece of paper on hand, I can just do the operation in seconds. CommonCore doesn't make kids understand math, it teaches them how to formulaicly lay out their mathematical problems in "beautifying ways" that are both inefficient and slow. Even that first operation in their example pisses me off… 176 + 4… Just do 176 + 24… You could fucking reduce the number of operations so much if you weren't doing everything so slowly… Would I be right if I put my equation on a commoncore paper, or would they dock me points because I didn't do it in some retard fashion like X+1000=Y+1000=Z+1000, counting every single 1000 together until I reached the 8000 mark?

Maybe the problem isn't the "old math" or the "new math" methods, but the fucking retards who don't understand them well enough to explain them in simple terms for young children? So they turn division into figuring out the multiplication operation. But this begs the question, how do you expect your school children to reach the multiplier for growing numbers?

As an example… 20÷4= gets turned into ×4=20. Simple problem, I can tell you that the answer is 5, right? But let's say you didn't learn how to quickly group together strings of numbers and add them together rapidly in your head, and you don't understand the relationship of multiplication to groups of addition in rapid succession, where you can do this in seconds…

968÷4= will quickly turn into x4=968. Here lies the problem. How are kids going to reach the conclusion of this problem without literally counting the numbers in a slow and cumbersome way under CommonCore?

Under the CommonCore method for multiplication, they literally tell you to create a drawing of columns and rows tallying together until you reach the number you want to reach. So this means that kids are going to have to draw either 242 rows or 242 columns of 4. Because in CommonCore they teach you not to "use shortcuts" like making the leap of logic that if 4x100=400, you can add together 2 100s in rapid succession to reach the conclusion that much faster by multiplying numbers and adding them together. Instead you are supposed to make a big diagram of groups of numbers, and then circle one of the "walls" of the square/box and add them up together. So you draw out 5 rows of 4 columns for 5x4 to reach 20, then you circle the rows and add them together and now you know that _x4=20 is 5x4=20… How fucking ridiculous.

Once you do any kind of mathematical operation that exceeds 5x4 or some other low number, CommonCore falls apart. And they know it does, and they hope that no one reaches a grade level where you should be able to do astronomical numbers where CommonCore is going to break down and fail because they didn't prepare for that because they don't know how to transition without teaching kids how to do the new math or the old math to do regular division or multiplication.

Eventually it took him blowing up his arms into giant metal boulders, and using a form of his Gatling move to beat a steroids-enhanced fishman.

As for Doflamingo, Luffy combines haki and finally pumps air into his muscles rather than his arms, into a sort of transformation state. Only problem is, he can't stand still 'cause he's always bouncing, but he has clear air superiority, and can stretch his arms ten-fold into a sort of homing punch. Doflamingo controlled strings, and can use them to cut people up.

So, take that for what you will. Anime is bullshit anyway.

I actually learned division in a way similar to this years and years ago. However I also learned multiplication tables BEFORE I got to this step. This is another issue since I am use CC is NOT teaching that since modern schooling (except in a few physical locations) trashed those decades ago. And it is very cumbersome and also not always very accurate since you have remainders rather than decimal output. I basically got around it by building a reverse multiplication table in my head that allowed me to crunch larger numbers very fast and with some degree of fractional accuracy, and very rarely use pen and paper to resolve a problem. However I was only able to accomplish that by having learned about those kind of tables in the first place, which remember is not taught anymore! So these newer kids are FUCKED.

Now if you want a real shit show, you should take a look at how students are prepared for algebra. I fortunately had a great teacher on the subject before CC was "common", but there are many more are terrible teachers and they are now using these inadequate methods. You might have some people that can figure out how to do basic maths even after all the poz but when you start heading into intermediate shit, kiss your ass goodbye.

See, I was taught that if you needed precision, you could literally just add a decimal point and keep going. You DO NOT have to stop doing your division as a remainder, that's only if that's how you want to do it. You just remember that the value of X is equal to X*10^-Y (or X*.Y). So for tenths it's X*.1, for hundredths it's X*.01, etc.

The decimals are really small, but you should be able to see them nonetheless.

When you understand that 4 is half of 8, it's easy to commute 4÷8=½ or 0.5. Once you add in a decimal place, you can keep dividing the numbers. If you reach a point where you reach the same result as earlier, you quickly infer that the number can not be resolved as is.

A great example is 7÷3. It's the most convenient example because 7 divided by 3 on the calculator shows you that this loop is immediate. 7 divided by 3 is 2.33333333333333 (repeating). You reach the ultimate state of the equation immediately, you end up doing the same number over and over again, 10 divided by 3 = 10 divided by 3… The only thing changing is the decimal place.

You could write that was 2 R1 or 2.33 (and put a line over top of the 33).
