Isn't it online, though? You really need two equations, one for no online multiplayer, one with. The one with online would obviously be cheaper until the amount of months you pay for ends up exceeding the cost of the joycons.

Most people would want to play local multiplayer, but the online will be $20 a year after the trial, on Nintendo's AWESOME online service. I doubt this game will live beyond the trial period personally.

What in the fuck are Arms and 1-2 Switch anyways? They look lower in terms of quality than something like Metroid Prime Hunters in terms of launch titles and something like Pilotwings Resort on 3DS which is little more than a tech demo.

I'm hoping for a gamecube virtual console not only for melee but the gamecube had some of the best and most challanging nintendo games but mostly for the melee I'm tiered of having to lug a big ass crt if I want to play melee at a friends house. I also heard that there is a possiibility of adding online multiplayer for virtual console games including ones that didn't originally have online capabilities. I'm hoping they basically just rip off dolphin to add netplay.
They did add online to one of the Genesis' games on the Wii's Virtual Console service. I forget which one though.

I'm hopefull for a melee port but I also know that nintendo likes to fuck things up they even fucked up the smash 64 port on the wii but at the moment theres nothing that stands out to me that will he released for the switch other than maybe oddesy but if melee gets released as is without some bullshit like sneaking in the PAL version and has online multiplayer then I'm instantly buying the switch

Last time I played something with local mp was 3 years ago and I don't see it [local multiplayer] getting more popular.

A versus mode in this game where each player uses 1 joycon to fight would make the game's multiplayer more accessable, and would offer an alternative playmode to shake the experience up a bit.
However, if you honestly have to buy a second set of joycon controllers so your other friends can play with you, they probably don't want to play this game with you.
