Presumably, what happens is they ask someone who hasn't preordered one but likes Nintendo, maybe the sales rep sees them checking out Nintendo games or consoles, or they're buying one, then they offer them the chance to preorder one.

Since the customer likes Nintendo, they're aware that the Switch has limited preorders, so they lose their spaghetti and trip over themselves to throw all of their money onto the counter, without thinking about whether they actually want one or whether they have the money.

Scarcity only produce more money if it also inflate prices, and such a thing never happened. The carcity behind the WiiU meant only one thing: Caution when threading new waters.

Considering the Wii U alone sold 10 million units worldwide, I think the US would want more than 2 million units, especially if they can even get half the amount of the Wii's lifetime total, which would mean they'd probably want about 10 times as many Switches in the US at least. 2 million is large but at the same time, it's not really a whole lot.

It reuses a lot of the same maps, adds very little in loo of new features except ones that were already in development for the original Splatoon. It's basically the complete or ultimate edition of the original. Not a bad thing if you liked the original, but for the average gamer it never achieve prominence beyond good porn.

Well they are implementing new maps over the time that the game is out, so even if the map roster of the base game is rather old map heavy it isn't accurate to assert that this will be indicative of the game in the future, say 2 or 3 months after release. Though I am curious as there wasn't a clear shot of it, whether the multiplayer map with ink rails is the Moray Towers map.

There is no quality guarantee here. Any time they like they can decide not to, and you'll feel silly if that happens. The DL servers for the new maps can also conveniently go down at any time after the equivalent of it's warranty expires.

Pragmatically, they can't nor is there any real benefit to doing that. So the only thing to actually hinge on is ideological reasons which again. I don't think that would actually be in the interests of Nintendo of Japan, and then even after that you would also have to consider that literally nobody ever would make a doppleganger host for the new maps and that new downloads/prints of splatoon 2 will not come WITH the additional maps which is typical for any and all games even back to like, ps1 era disc prints where new versions of the game would go out regularily and there wasn't any real way to check other than the usual guess of "The Greatest hits version usually is a reprint with bug patches". which was typical way the fuck back then.
