I have only played 6 hours so far but here's what I got
the game has the known ubisoft connection and server issues, sometimes it kicks you from the game every 5 minutes sometimes goes without a hitch, balancing wise I have no idea but you see everyone going with niponese stronk steel or basically any 2 handed weapon class, still the game plays fun and it looks like it requires some modicum of skill to actually play it right, but it still is by ubisoft so I would withhold any judgment until they reveal the business model, mostly because you can see how there so many things that they can micro-transaction to death.

Yeah there's Marauder's talisman and Plunderer's Talisman, both are relics that you need to craft but the blueprints are drops, so you would need to grind for them (or fucking cheat them into your save I'm not the fucking police)

Have been playing Ys I Chronicles+ on Normal, got stuck on Dark Fact and I decided to take a little break and play Ys II. That game seems to be easier than the 1st one, because bump system got improved and now I can actually reliably kill enemies by humping them diagonally, unlike the 1st game. Also, unlike Ys I you can actually use items, which made boss battles way more manageable. At least I had a better time with the 1st boss of this game than with the previous one.
Also, I recently finished Shantae and the Pirate's Curse on 3DS. This game has top tier soundtrack. I don't think I have a single theme I dislike. Saliva Island and Spiderweb Island themes rock!

My fabrication teacher said I could use the equipment and materials if I drew up some designs for things I wanted to make. Considering making a game mastering screen and dice tower for tabletops. Have some rough sketches in my head of how I can do it.

Now that I think about it, I'm pretty excited. I'm learning machining and manufacturing, and one of my favorite activities is to design and build things.

Etrian Odyssey 4. For the last 5 years i've felt burnt out in turn based games. This however has had a nice difficulty curve in my experience. Been doing a floor every 1-2 days.
Rogue Galaxy. The story in this game is garbage. Everything is a cliché and they expect you to be attached to every character for no reason. It's visually appealing and the game mechanics have been solid enough for my liking.
Prototype. Just plain fun. I enjoyed this the world in infamous a lot more but this game is easier the sit back and enjoy. Also slaughtering a group of 100 civilians running throw a tight alley is too satisfying.
Brigador. Beat every mission with every mech option expect for the the last mission. Plan to finish that up tonight maybe move into the freelance mode which I haven't touched yet.
Morrowind. Playing a Nord Crusader. I've seen people say that this game ages bad because the whole miss hit system where your weapon doesn't actually miss if you miss. However I think it's the world building that has aged. Thick fog and nothing attention grabbing to bring you to other towns make the whole exploring experience dull.
DoA 5. Been playing it with a friend.
ashens, LGR and Waveya. I've gotten into the habbit of having Waveya open on second monitor all the time.

While what you describe is true, I don't think it's gotten better or worse over time. The game asks for your imagination to do a lot of the heavy work. If you read a lot of the books, and really get into the politics and plot, your mind fills in the gaps. At the surface level it's pretty bland, but this stresses the role-playing further than it would.

I've been trying to take in the politics of the game as I play. When a Dunmer assassin was sent to kill me I've had more direction than just the main quest line. I plan to kill anyone in the group responsible for the assassination attempt. My biggest issue with getting familiar with the npcs in each town is that sometimes they aren't very visually distinguishable.

sounds about right. When I went through uni those were pretty regular. Protip: fake it to everyone and they'll believe you are actually well adjusted. Even more important protip: that's what everyone is doing. The people you meet that seem to have their lives together also actually don't know what the hell is going on, they are just really good at faking it. By far the most important protip: when you get to the workforce, nothing changes at all. You just have to learn how to fake it to your boss
