To all 3DS and Vita owners, who is going to upgrade to the Switch in a year or two?

To all 3DS and Vita owners, who is going to upgrade to the Switch in a year or two?

I keep hearing that the Switch is doomed even though it is a new Nintendo handheld launching without competition so I'm interested if that's actually true. Sure, Nintendo is marketing it as a home console first and handheld second, but we know that's a stupid way to look at it. It's a handheld first and a home console second. All you need is a USB-C portable battery in your bag or luggage and it's the best handheld on the market with a TV dock at home.

You play it on the TV for an hour, put it in sleep mode, undock it to go to the doctor's office and continue playing, put it in sleep mode, go back home and dock it again to play some more, and then put the joycons back on the tablet in the dock to charge it at night. It seems amazing. The only true concern I have is the size.

So what is everyone's thoughts about this as a handheld? Are you going to get the dock or buy it used without it?

It's a shit handheld since you can't tuck it away in your pocket and shit. I'd rather keep my Vita. Maybe CFW will redeem it, but at this moment, the Vita has more interesting games than this piece of shit.

Reminder the X1 chip can't run Half Life 2 at 60 without constantly dropping frames.

I'll only "upgrade" to the switch once it gets hacked.

No. I don't see people making much use of the undocked gameplay outside of taking it to a friends' house or to a party. The lack of portability means you can no longer put it in your pocket like a 3DS.

If I get a Switch, I think the undocked mode might be good for taking to the shitter at most. I liked the Off-screen gameplay on the Wii U, my only complaint was how far you could take it.

It's more of a console than it is a handheld.

but it's much less of a console than an actual console.

It's the worst of both worlds goy! Only 300 bucks! Thank you Nintendo, truly you are gaming's greatest ally.

...

Are you some kind of weebcuc?

I'll probably get it after I get a vita. I typically move around with a bag a lot, so storing it undocked wouldn't be a problem. However, I would like to see if it comes with some charging solution that isn't through it's dock.

I wanted to get it at launch before the presentation. Now I'm going to wait a year or two for more games to come out and to see if paid online gets removed and the price drops. In particular the accessories are ridiculously priced, I'm not paying $70 for a fucking pro controller. Sad that I'm gonna miss the launch of Splatoon 2 but I'm not terribly impressed by that either tbh. gj Nintendo ya blew it

Good thing this isn't using the X1 chip.

Don't most people carry their 3DS in their bags anyway? The battery life is a much greater detriment to portable play.

But it's still not mobile enough to be considered a real handheld

I don't know, I'd probably get a shield over a switch. The size of the 3rd party library will be a dealbreaker for many, but even then Nintendo's insistence on charging full AAA price for every game forever is really offputting. I didn't play Zelda as a kid either so I don't have that weird addiction either.

nigger, going from a 3ds or vita to a big-ass tablet with no battery life is not an upgrade

norman get out

I plan on getting one if they're not out of stock within twenty minutes when they come out purely to sit on it for piracy purposes. Launch lineup is a tad weak but a new Zelda and a Splatoon right out of the gate are pretty damn good incentives.

I have a 3DS and a Vita. Both are about to be blown wide open, and you can already pirate games on them. There's plenty to play, so there's no reason to buy a new console for a long time.
Get a Switch when it gets a second hardware revision at least. That way you can see where they're taking the console, it'll have games worth playing and the price will have dropped.

Personally I think it looks good. The paid online stuff is concerning, but aside from Wonder Trade I never play online anyway. 1 NES/SNES game a month is barely compensation for this new system.

God speed, user. Retaining the stock firm ware is always a good idea.

Paid online is concerning but I wonder if Nintendo will even adhere to it whatsoever. I remember hearing NA is the only place they're pulling paid online, and with that long of a grace period they might just extend the grace period indefinitely or remove it altogether and stick with free online. Nintendo doesn't seem all that sure about it, especially with not revealing the amount you pay for subscription.

I'm still kicking myself because when I first bought a 2DS it had crackable firmware at the time, less than 9.2, but I didn't even know piracy existed yet so I updated it to 9.5

Honestly I'll wait till the CFW is developed in a year or two and buy a used one for $150 after the eventualy price cuts.

Sounds unlikely considering the console is no longer region locked, but it still wouldn't surprise me. Fucking Reggie.

...

I still use my Vita, but not my 3ds, so I'll get a Switch soon, especially if Pokemon Stars is really coming.

I'll probably play Zelda on my Wii U rather than suffer a downgrade though.

You didn't "hear" it was doomed, you read it here where salty XBones and ps4 owners shitpost all day since they have no games to play. "Nintendo is doomed" is a shitty meme that has been perpetrated since the days of the Sega Genesis, and no matter how many generations we go through there is always a core group of mad as fuck autists who are no better than unwashed hobos screaming gibberish and wearing a "The End Is Near" sign.

It already sold put preorders in many states and countries. Its going to be a huge success and there is nothing the world's oldest doomsday cult can do about it.

Every firmware is now hackable.

Sure. I'm gunna use my portable battery for it.

My biggest concern.

More like 3ds + Wii U

No excuses here. Might pay for a month or two for Splatoon and ARMS and then quit.

You forget that it is also a HUGE upgrade to the 3DS or something? It makes the 3DS look like a child's toy.

...

Only thing worse than a Nintendrone is the fucking antis the crawl beneath our threads. They get so salty over people enjoying Nintendo games that you swear there are people being paid to shill AGAINST a company.

But is there proof they're doing this or just assumptions?

Seems like NoA is getting its fucking shit slapped with how little involvement any NoA staff had in the Switch reveal. Fucking Todd had more screen-time than Reggie did there, and there's no region locking now.

Yeah, I know. Got a N3DS all set up with A9LH, though I did that before Soundhax/Safehax came out. I had my 2DS set up with RxTools last January when 9.2 downgrades became available and I've been running tech-support in 3DS threads ever since, along with in that Volafile.

No fuck you.

They're not even assumptions, the correct term is "foaming at the mouth and screeching."

The share thread vola? Have those lazy fucks finally upgraded to a9lh

I heard that this was made to encourage Japanese devs not to jump to mobile. I expect a handheld only model when the technology becomes cheaper.

I haven't stepped in there for quite a while since it was devolving into one guy spamming gayfur/trap porn and attention-whoring every so often and I didn't much care for the other regulars, but it may or may not have gotten subsumed into the general Holla Forums or share-thread vola considering it was the only one with any real activity. When I was there it was a dedicated 3DS vola though.

Why would I? Every nintendo console has less good games than the previous one. This looks like yet another underpowered piece of shit. It's probably made to teach the programmers at nintendo how to make games for android before they go full mobile.

Goddamn are you deluded if you really believe that.

So the consensus seems to be it will be a purchased when it gets hacked. Jesus, Nintendo can't please people unless they give their games away for free lol.

The only handled that i use is smartphone, to play casual games when i travel to some playce, but i use my smartphone mostly only to mesages, music, youtube and pictures, nothing more.

I use linux and notebook in a live CD configurated for maximum privacy to visit websites like this and nobody will know this.

Maybe i will think in buy a unblocked Handled console easy to put pirated games and emulators.

out

Nintendo has confirmed that Switch is not the 3DS' successor. They are working on their next handheld.

You can get portable batteries that'll double or triple it's battery life for $20.
What is a backpack?
The worthwhile games in it's first year is almost equal to the WiiU's entire lifespan. And there'll probably be more 2017 releases announced at E3.
Fair point.

How is that even acceptable?
And you're delusional as fuck If you believe companies will shit out as many games for this as they could for the 3Ds.
This is a homeconsole with portability on the side, almost like a gimmick. It's their last attempt before dropping homeconsoles for good.

They also said that the DS is not a GBA successor. I say BULLLLLSHIIIIITTTT

Portable batteries are pretty much the removable batteries of today. It's a decent solution.

It already has SMT, Fire Emblem Warriors, and Project Octopath Traveler: 3 games with 3DS franchises from 3DS developers.

Hola amigo taco espanol

The Switch is a tablet with proprietary controller slots. I am not saying they are going bankrupt (God knows that their autistic fanbase will keep them afloat buying garbage like amiibos), but every knowledge you can get programming for the Switch can be easily used for android. They have already published smartphone games and the switch is paired with phone apps like the parental control one. It's common sense, really.

That can be applied to every electronic device. It's not excuse, and means you have bring with you extra shit that you have to connect to the console while you play.
Something you stop wearing when you finish high school.
They are not out, so you can't know if they are worthwhile, that's not saying much anyway.
Air here.

Believe it or not, there are people who use backpacks for work.

Not taco/paella poster, but English isn't my main language and I'm on a cellphone with no English dictionary, writting is constant struggle

In my office everyone uses handbags, I don't know how it is in other places.

Stupid gook, gtfo my board.

Have you never been to a city before? I see rich assholes all the time wearing $10k suits and wearing $800 backpacks all the damn time.

no. If you don't want your shit to be stolen, you put it in your pocket.

Programming knowledge in general lets you easily develop phone apps, that suggests nothing. Weren't devs circlejerking about porting to Switch being a drag-and-drop affair from PC?

Published smartphone games, which were developed by third-party companies. Mind you Nintendo announced they wouldn't abandon traditional gaming for smartphone apps at all and their stock plummeted immediately after that announcement because of mobile-market hopefuls latching onto the company after Pokemon Go. Pairing the Switch with a phone-app for parental controls strikes me as more a move of Nintendo trying to be modern as well as convenient than it does a leap to Android or other mobile platforms.

Quads

Ironically, it'll probably be more socially acceptable to have one of these in public, because of it's bigger size. normalfags will just think it's a tablet. They aren't wrong.

Look if you're gonna try and derail a shit thread, at least put some effort into it.

You tried, mate.

Are nintendo consoles worth it? They never seem to have more than 5 games that are good, 2 of those are a mario and a zelda game, sometimes even 4 of them.

I'll buy one second hand for $100 next year and jailbreak it to play dolphin mostly.

the 3ds got a pretty good library, though when i got mine i bought it primarily for layton games. i'd have avoided it if it had paid online like the switch.

Since the Wii Nintendo libraries get inflated by having previous-generation libraries on them through Virtual Console but usually each system's got more than enough of its own games to warrant the purchase, secondhand at the very least. I've got some 50-100 games on my 3DS through Virtual Console and original titles, plus ports of other stuff like MGS3D.

Grab a n3DS for cheap and hack it. It's got a fuckton of great games and it's more portable than a PC. With Freeshop installing a game is as easy as it can get, you just pick it from a list and wait.
Alternatively if you have a powerful PC get Dolphin and emulate some Gamecube/Wii games. There should be a GCN/Wii infographic somewhere, listing all it's best games.

Either way you're better off playing the games yourself to form an opinion.

Wii U has a small number of very good games (Splatoon, Bayonetta, W101, maybe a couple of others depending on your taste). 3ds has more good games than any other current console. Both can be hacked on current firmware, so you can get their entire libraries for just the price of the console and an SD card.

Programmer here.

Yes, if you define "tablet" as "Some sort of computer with a screen on it and no keyboard." It's a "tablet" in the same way that the Nintendo DS is.

All programming knowledge can be used easily in other programming areas, yes, but you can't really compare native embedded programming with Android programming. It's a 100% different world. Android is designed through and through to be a general-purpose environment where all development works on all devices, and there are an insane amount of safety and sanity checks for stability at the expense of performance. Android is so heavily Java-based (in literal language terms and also in ideology terms) and has such a unique development environment that it doesn't directly apply anywhere else, unless you really think that the Switch games will be developed using some standard XML format for all UIs and a heavy MVC design. It's stupid to say this; you'd really have to know absolutely nothing about how programming on Android works (and equally little about embedded programming) to claim this. Android programming is enterprise as fuck.

So? They didn't even make those, they published them.

Most importantly, why would you suddenly think this now? Nintendo has been making handheld games for decades now. They added a touch screen with the DS, and emphasized it with the 3DS and Wii U. I don't understand why you think this is any more of a mobile push than their already heavily mobile approach since the Game Boy launched. More than anything, it just seems to be an approach at unifying their largely disparate mobile and console markets, which have always run largely parallel with only novelty interaction between.

I'm not even looking forward to the switch for various reasons (paid online, bastardizing of the perfect Wii U Pro Controller design, and retarded prices more than anything else), but this "it's pretty much just like Android" shit is retarded.

This is not a true portable, just like the Virtual Boy wasn't despite what the box said.
I mean, a 10 inch android tablet can be carried around comfortably on a bag or briefcase but that is not truly portable.
You have to carry not only the base system, but the joycons too (these can be attached but it would increase size). Then there's the plastic grip or charging grip if you got it… And you've got to use some sort of carrying case or bag or you will risk damaging the screen.

Not just that but it's during that month only. Didn't want to try out the freebie game because you were playing something else? Too bad gotta buy it now.

You fucked up. Give it time to get enough games to actually be worth the purchase. It's also way too big to be a true portable

Why would you carry around the joycon grip? All you need is the tablet and joycons in handheld mode. You just throw into into your bag or luggage for long trips.

...

It's preorders are already sold out. Anyone who thinks the Switch is "doomed" is a fucking retard you shouldn't be listening to. This thing has a lot of attention from normalfags and normalfags buy shit.

inb4 someone tries to say nintendo is staggering the sales to make it look more popular than it is. Keep telling yourselves that faggots.

we all know its going to be a piece of shit, BUT it will still break record sales.

its nintendo after all, every console they've made since the 64 has been a piece of shit with nothing but marios, zeldas, and pokemons, and they still sell billions everytime.

That's not a good crop.
It's a furshit character with a normal porn expression.
Meme harder, 0/10.

The last Nintendo console with games was the Wii and thats due to the fact that motion control normalfag appeal brought in a shitton of shovekware and third parties.

N64 had a some selection but it was still piss poor and the Gamecube aside from some great exclusives and great hardware was a fucking flop, almost as big as the Dreamcast.

I want the kikes at Sony to have competition , I want a good console, but Nintendo stoill

Am I really about to ask for the full picture of animaniacs porn? Yes I am gib sauce please.

Exactly. Even if you think the Switch is going to be hot garbage on a cold day you still need to realize that normalfags don't think like that and will rush out in droves to get this thing. The most reaction I've seen about this console has been from friends on my fucking facebook and they are all eating it up.

I have no opinion on the console until I play it, and I won't play it until it has a good collection of must own games, that said I know I'm not everyone. This shit will sell like crazy (and again: it already has).

It looks to be the most comfortable way of using the controllers. Joining them to the screen would increase the size of what you have to carry even more. Additionally, with the joycons off, the screen is a solid slab so you can protect it better in a bag or whatnot, whereas with them attached the joycons will bear the majority of force on the (presumably) fragile sticks.

The kind of 'long trips' or heading to a friend's house sound convenient, but this does not make it as convenient as other real portables such as PSP, Vita or 3DS. Pull out, play, done.

I see the switch as an unfortunate middle point just like tablets:
Tablets are a middle point between smartphone and laptop. But they're too big for a phone (and most lack a sim slot) yet they're too small and weak for a laptop.

Switch is basically the same - an unfortunate middle point between portable and home console:
It's too big to be a real portable, and it has removable pieces such as the dock and joycons, yet it's too small and weak to be a proper home console. I'm curious to see how it will pull off Skyrim.

I have some hope. Ninty finally took off region lock so I can import whatever they fuck up regionally, but right now the system will be barren as fuck and I can't help but feel they rushed the launch. Even the PS4 had cheap PS3 ports on launch such as CoD Ghosts and sports games, but this will only have Zelda and 12Switch (which should've been a fucking pack in, goddamn it Nintendo).

The DS wasn't the GBA's successor either and look where we are now.

i'm not saying it's happening but since you mention it i wouldn't doubt it even a little.
i've never understood the mentality of buying a console on launch anyway. sony impressed me pretty well with their nogames4 sales on launch.

I think its a clever concept and an improvement over the wii u's clunky design. I've never personally cared for Nintendo consoles but the switch has me interested since it seems like a genuine step towards making an actual console again. I think most of the people saying its going to flop are just being either pessimistic or begging for it to fail so they can do the asinine smug parade.

the thing about that was there was such a long gap between console releases many people jumped on the ps4 simply because they wanted their next hardware fix. Obviously this didn't pan out.

Do you keep your laptop in your pocket?

You know that in two or three years we're going to get a new Switch model that's smaller and actually acts like a handheld. Plus better battery life and hardware.

No. They're saying the Switch isn't replacing the 3ds now because the 3ds is still going to get support for another year or so, while the Wii U will be 100% dead after Zelda.

There are going to be 2 million Switch consoles at launch. It's not an absurd amount, but it's on par with the PS4 and Xbone release so I guess by tin foil logic they must have staggered their releases to try and seem more popular too.

Oh look an android tablet with hdmi for $100 and a bluetooth controller for $40.

I am hyped for BotW though

I think it'll be the opposite:
new SWITCH XL LL Plus along with exclusive games.

Now, something that came to mind here… This system is supposed to support multiple users, so I hope it can actually manage the save data on the gamecarts or just use the internal flash to do so, because I fucking hate that Zelda games have 3 save slots. Even the Wii games have 3 fixed fucking slots despite the system having 512MB flash on it.
Nintendo needs to learn how to properly do savegames, for fuck's sake.

...

And no gaems other than emulators and android shovelware. I already have several machines that can run emulators.

...

Nah, fam. Done with console shit after this. Going PC.

i've decided i don't give a shit about nintendo anymore.
they died with iwata.

Just get a messenger bag and don't leave it lying around where nigs can see it

Probably. And around that time the hacking scene will probably start making major strides. Anons hate that the n3ds came out, but since it was the only 3ds I bought I didn't feel cheated at all. Especially with honebrew.

No, thank you. It's a console to me simply because I generally like to avoid suffering. Though some suffering builds character, that's why I bought a Wii U. I still kind of want a Switch, but it's not leaving my bedroom.

This, though if you're set on getting a tablet, get a PC tablet.

Don't buy one of those controllers. I bought one. They're sexy as fuck, and I'm a stupid fucking hipster who loves the NES aesthetic, but everything else about them is wrong. I could go into a lot more detail if somebody wants it, but suffice it to say that it's nowhere near being worth the money, regardless of how good it looks.

Are there any good phone/tablet controllers or should i just stick to my 360 controller?

I typically travel in my line of work, so backpacks are a common sight. Especially since airlines charge you for everything that's bigger than a duffelbag.

The only thing the Switch has going for it is that the Vita will be kill in a year, two at max. Sony is pulling out.

In the land of the blind one-eye is king.

Vita is actually massive in Japan thanks to the otaku. The US doesn't really matter much for handhelds and people in this country really need to stop acting like they do.

In fact, the only reason the Switch has portable aspects is because Nintendo wants to bury the Vita.

I'm getting a lewd vibe from this screenshot

Nintendo consoles are for people who like Nintendo games. Don't care about Zelda or Mario? Buy something else.

It's a recent Ghibli film called When Marnie was There. You should watch it, I thought it was gonna be SJW lesbian shit at first but then it hit me in the feels.

I know the Vita is relatively huge in Japan user but it is ancient hardware that even Japanese devs can't work with anymore. Motherfucking Falcom is dumping it.

Or maybe the market is just moving too fast.

Well you may be right there, still devs tend to develop on what sells. For the past long while the Vita has been Japan's go-to portable (mostly because all their favorite otaku brands come out on the system). We'll see how it looks in a few years though given I do think the Switch will work as Nintendo hoped and shake things up. Plus I'm sure Sony is already working on a response so you may be right that they'll faze out the Vita before too long.

No idea. The Wii U Pro Controller is the best I've used for PC use, but I recall that Android 4.2 fucked the ability to connect to them and it was never fixed.
Those 8bitdo NES30 controllers are actually alright for phone use, if overpriced. They connect very well and stow away in a pocket very easily. The buttons are mediocre, the d-pad doesn't rock right, the sticks have a strong bias toward the axes (ie. it uses separate springs for horizontal and vertical, meaning you have to apply double the pressure for diagonals as for axes motions), and the sticks have pretty big external dead-zones (the stick actuation area is a square, with direct diagonal being 100% on both axes, so horizontal or vertical pressing reaches 100% actuation at only about 78% of the tilt), not to mention that the shoulder buttons are flimsy (and really awkward to work with the 1 and 2 shoulder buttons at the same time) and the sticks take a lot of force to press for the stick buttons.
Bluetooth connectivity is pretty good. Lots of options, and they even let you use raw USB control without wireless, but the bluetooth range is also really shit (dying out after just about 5 feet for mine, which doesn't work for playing from a couch on a TV or anything like that). There's also that it's annoying to pair, because you only have 1 pairing with the controller for one mode, so if you want to use the controller on multiple devices, you have to fully re-pair it each time you switch which device you're using.

That's all actually not that bad, though. You can get used to most of it, and the portability gain is worth those trade-offs in a sturdy portable controller, and the main things (being the face buttons) are strong enough to use without much trouble. My main issue is the price given all those things. The controller would be a great one with a lot of strengths for $20 to $25. At $40 it's simply very overpriced.

If it ain't got planes, I'm not gonna watch it. Fuck feels, to hell with whimsy, I want flying contraptions and beautiful sky.

Only if Melee HD comes

I don't bring my laptop out of my house. I bought it because it's functional.

I don't give a single fuck about the Switch until there's an Etrian Odyssey game on it, then my hand will be forced. But everyone must surely be aware that the day Nintendo releases a Pokemon game on it, they will recoup all of their costs designing, manufacturing, and marketing the thing. It really can't fail no matter how mediocre it is.

nintendo is literally the Japanese EA.

they make nothing but piece of shit after piece of shit and people consume it and consume it. they are too big to fall

It's gonna flop.
It's gonna lack 3rd party games like Wii U.
It's a console that rides on a gimmick and nostalgia.
No, I am not gonna get it.

I dunno, they could fuck up Pokemon on the Switch. They have paid online now which could contribute to failure as well.

Even if they fuck it up that won't matter, it will sell. Them fucking it up only means the next one might not sell as well (and it probably will anyway because of nostalgia).

The topic is how is it as a handheld. It is going to replace the 3DS and will be the most badass handheld out there.

Portability issue due to size
Paid online
Will likely lack 3rd party

Still not getting it.

Technically accurate since there is no competition in the handheld market.

thats like when timmy the neighborhood retard organizes his own olympic event in his backyard, and he wins, but he's also the only participant.

Hell no I'm sticking with my computer.

Nintendo staggers sales for everything though, scalpers play into their hand too.

I don't understand how anyone can deny that at this point after everything from amiibos to nintendo mini.

Oh jesus op please tell me you aren't the kind of person that resells their consoles and games whenever a new one comes out

No, it's too big. Paid online. It won't get that many games.

wew

Not everyone owns a Steam console. :^)

While the couple of trailers I saw looked good, I'm not terribly interested in the Switch. I'd be curious to see how it does after a year when the novelty wears off. I don't like tablet(or Nintendo products, to be frank), so I likely won't get it.

I'm sticking to my Vita. This does seem to be a clear step up from the 3DS, so maybe it'll see some good titles. I know the first-party support will be there, so that's at least something to look forward to. If it looks good a year or two from now, I might change my mind.

It's a tablet, everyone lugs those around nowadays.
The only shitty thing about the system.
Already has more support than the Pii Pu.

Wii U had a lot of empty promises and some shit ports.
What's to say support isn't empty promises too?

No, not really. It's supported, but it's not booming.

I don't see anyone carrying around tablets. Maybe mixed race millennials. On the games things: Nintendo for more than a decade now has show their consoles aren't worth anything but little kids titles and 1st party borefests and shovelware. It's not a good investment. I'll use the $300 to upgrade my CPU.

No, it's really was booming. It outsold the 3DS at one point, mind you now those are flipped, but I chalk that up to market saturation. Plus if you go to Japan you see Vitas fucking everywhere, and I'm not talking about advertising.

That the only reason I own a vita.
Gotta love those cute/lewd weeb games that the PC never sees.

What games would I buy? All the Jap shit I'd be interested in would get censored, and unlike you people I have principles.

Switch is region free though. So that's more of a non-issue this time around.

No more region locking

I suspect it will sell like hotcakes as if it were the 4DS with tv-out dock included. I won't buy because I have no need for portable at this time, the psp with the big battery expansion pack was a life saver on the the night shift years ago. Thought about a vita too, but liked the tv out function of the psp when I went back at home after the shift. It is a shame the vita did not have this as there seems to be some interesting exclusives I'd like to try.

I'd still be supporting a company that pushes censorship. Besides I don't actually believe there won't be region locking, neither would I support them even if it wasn't there. Nintendo has always censored games and will always censor games.

Only if you buy it from NoA, you dumbwit

While I can do nothing to convince you that NOA will hopefully be put on a leash as there is no indication of that aside from some rumors, that I hope are true. The no region lock is 100% confirmed. Nintendo itself even made a big deal about it at the presentation.

rule34.paheal.net/post/view/1725260#search=Dot_Warner
You seriously couldn't find it yourself? It was made by bleedman, some mediocre webcomic artist.

You're right, you can't do anything to convince me. History speaks for itself. Only a complete idiot would think Nintendo might change their ways at this point.

I'm going to wait until the eventual re-release with better batteries and larger storage capacity.

It doesn't matter, man. There won't be any fucking games for it.

I'm fighting the temptation to get it at launch even though there's nothing of value I couldn't already play on my Wii U for free. The weeb lineup does look very strong for the end of the year, but who knows if we'll get anything after it and who knows how many of those are getting delayed into next year if not 2019? They said SMT was in the very early stages of development, so I don't expect that for at least 2 years. I know I'm being a real good goy here, but my decision hinges on what they have to show us during the FE direct today. Even if I choose to delay the purchase, I'll probably still be getting one this holiday season at the latest. I easily resisted the PS4 for over 3 years, I don't know what's wrong with me. I think the lack of region lock just has me more willing than I should be to get over Treehouse's shit localizations.

FE has sucked for a long long time, user. Let it go. Truth be told I'm interested in XB2.

So, to all the dumb anons out there. Ya think the paid online just may have something to do with DeNa?

Buy it used or off of somebody, you may just find a few more of them during report card season.

And if i were to get a switch, i would make sure that i would be able to pirate games on there so i wouldnt have to buy any.

With this process, you lose money getting the switch, you spend no money getting games and $0 goes to nintendo. Its kind of a win win in your situation.

Nothing quite like a handheld that you have to pay extra to play multiplayer.

I think it's more likely that Nintendo chose this form factor so they can iterate faster.

Next year will be the Switch+, the year after will be the Switch HD, then the New Switch HD+.

If they keep the same dimensions people can keep using their joycon and docks, and Nintendo can make use of the fast iteration in the SoC space.

They're practically forcing people to upgrade given the shit battery life and the general lifespan of ion batteries from 200 to 400 charges.

I almost imported a preorder from the UK, but I have a suspicion that region-free might still come with some downsides, like being locked to a particular online store.

That's like going from a phone to sticking a laptop in your pocket.

Fixed.
With that pathetic excuse for a lineup, it must be really hard for you shills to get anyone interested in this thing, huh? Even my cousin who was a diehard Nintendo fanboy until the WiiU thought the recent presentation was complete trash.

It becomes much less of an issue if you already need a bag or something to keep the console in, and it means less bulk in your hands.

Then carry it in any other bag. I carry a small bag around with me to keep my old netbook in whenever I'm going to have to sit around somewhere while I'm out. There are plenty of military surplus bags out there still so you won't end up with something that looks like a faggot man purse.

I recognize that lizard

I'm not that desperate to play Nintendo's shitty little rehashes and censored games thanks.

Will not pick it up until they decide to drop this shitty excuse for "better experience" since that never changes even on other platforms
Yeah seeing how much power it uses this will not last long especially on big games like Zelda:Botw
Seriously $70 for a Pro Controller who the fuck is gonna pay thatmuch for it?

Vita's already too big for a pocket and pretty much needs a case anyway.

I was going to buy one after it gets hacked. After hearing that the Switch's online multiplayer capability requires a smartphone to use I'm willing to bet there will be no web browser, which is how most game systems get hacked now a days. I thought gen 8 was bad, looks like gen 9 may be worse.

People are still going to play this as a home console rather than a portable. Nobody is going to even think about using the tablet part because it is awkward as fuck to hold.

The original PSP was the first game device for which I purchased a durable case. Something about a screen taking up that much of the hardware just makes me uneasy. My Vita-chan doesn't leave the house.

This is a good example of an OP that reads like a paid shill posted it.

Don't know where they are going to get their software. Also it's too big for even the most determined autist to whip out in the lecture hall like they do with the 3DS now, and in the world of cheap and large 4K TVs it's going to look like dog shit at home.

That's not just your opinion, that's basically the reaction to anything Nintendo does. The result is entertaining either way.

I guess it's pretty much perfect to pass back to small children on car trips and stuff which is probably what they were going for

As someone who carries a small bag on occasions so I can keep an old netbook (and sometimes other larger than pocket sized items) on my person and readily accessible. I'm wondering how you think a determined autist could have a problem just whipping out a Switch.

Iwata was actually the guy bringing the companies closer and closer to the garbage heap. Watch how rapidly Nintendo approached this point every year with him in charge and how it went up with anyone else.

I have to admit I don't know the true depths of what compels these weird dudes to clutch their 3ds in their trademark autism grip any time they should be paying attention

That's the Nvidia K1, not X1.

Still, I'm not liking the way the Switch is turning out.

They do this every gen. The Gamecube had "shortages" the Wii had "shortages". It would not at all surprise me if they calculate how many people would buy on launch and then produce less than that intentionally.

This is the most retarded thing I've ever heard. Tablets ARE defined as computers with primary touchscreen controls. Having controller attachments doesn't suddenly not make them tablets.

This is why Nintendo can release retarded shit gen after gen and still live. Their 1st party IPs are popular with normalfags to the point they advertise themselves because, without actually giving a shit about the series previously, everybody goes insane about Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, even fucking Fire Emblem that nobody cared about before, all without remembering that Nintendo consoles are shit.

Not this one, but when they release a Switch with 9 hour battery life they'll drop the 3DS.

The PSVita TV is pretty cheap right now and you can pirate on it pretty easily.

The size of the Switch isn't an issue if you don't put it in your pocket to play in public "on the go" like an autist. Handhelds are for comfy in house games not so you can show off how much you tickle Miku's asshole ON THE GO. The problem with the Switch is that it doesn't commit to either side of the console spectrum.

every NES game had shortages. Their distribution strategy has literally never changed

(checked)
I'm not even sure how to hold a 3DS in public in a way that doesn't make you look defective.

What the hell are you talking about? Playing on the go was one of the main reasons I had a handheld when I was younger. I guess my childhood involved a lot more long drives and waiting than most other people's did.

you know god damn well that nintendo doesn't want this competing with the 3DS

Try doing it without bending your thumbs. Autists palm grip everything

The 3ds and vita are both at the end of their lifespans. Sony isn't making another handheld and probably not another console, nintendo knows this and isn't going to make a portable either.

What are children you dumb fuck. Did you forget kids play video games? School kids take their handhelds to school to play at break or lunch or on the bus.

School kids take them to school to get STOLEN or their ass ROBBED. lmao dumbfuck

Don't school kids have backpacks in your country?

Are you retarded? Or are you just projecting your insecurities of being seen with a 3DS in public on everyone else and proclaiming that handhelds are meant to be enjoyed only indoors?

Rethink your statement, then go get help.

t. American

mobile tech has advanced enough that I'm sure sony will throw something together in a couple years just to sustain the market they already have in Japan

This is why you could get away with it. Travel is a thin line. "Waiting" implies you are one of the autists arriving 45 minutes early to work/school/etc so you can get in some dank gaming time while not realizing you are autistic.

Oh boy more autistic faggots

Did you forget everybody here is supposed to be over 18? That would mean nobody here is a child. Kids taking a big ass tablet to school to be autists are looking to get their ass beat and robbed by niggers.

You realize those features work without being used in public and are aimed at children right? When I leave my house it's because I have shit to do that doesn't involve being an autist. I think you may want to go get your free diagnosis, be sure to print out this post.

I'd be surprised if Sony didn't have something announced this year, they pulled the same shit with the Sixaxis, the Dualshock 4 and the touch fundtionality of the Vita, were those even used much or well for games, I swear they existed primarily as a way to make Nintendo's offerings look less appealing, although Nintendo generally does a good job at that themselves.

Where do you think you are?

I'll wait for a Vita successor. Never ever?

StreetPass doesn't work unless you either run into another 3DS unit or into an AT&T hotspot that acts as a collective hub for StreetPass accounts.

And there is no proof that StreetPass was designed specifically for children. It was designed primarily for the Japanese audience who spend most of their days commuting or working outside home, and it's better suited there for it.

And if you think playing a 3DS outdoors makes you autistic, you probably need to go to the doctors and ask where your balls went since you're so preoccupied with how total strangers perceive you.

Have you never had empty time between classes during college or between two tasks that you had to accomplish during your day but not enough time to drive home and do anything productive? Have you never had appointments for anything where you had to wait a while because you arrived 5-10 minutes early but they won't be ready until 5-10 minutes after the time your appointment was scheduled for? Have you never heard the phrase "hurry up and wait" be used in your life?

You don't need to be actively playing it in public for it to work it can be used in sleep. "Being used" in this context meaning "you don't need to whip it out and play like an autist"

You're right, all those games aimed at adults that work using Streetpass tags must've slipped my mind.

No, that is what cell phone games were designed for. Handhelds are designed to be easily stored in a home. Contrary to what your weeb mind wants to believe sitting on a train playing a 3DS like an autist is still frowned upon there.

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. Your insistence on pushing "not only autists play handhelds in public" leads me to believe you feel offended that you've been outed as an autist.

5-10 minutes isn't such a long time that I need to stimulate myself because I have ADD. There are nonautistic ways to wait. Read a book, listen to music, you could even play a game on a phone. But pulling out a fucking 3DS or even worse, this fucking thing, is just screaming "I'm an autist, please don't startle me because I'll cry."

This. Can't fit into your pocket = not a handheld

The Switch doesn't know what it wants to be. It's a handheld that doesn't have a battery and doesn't fit into your pocket. It's a console that's extraordinarily underpowered even by Nintendo's nebulous standards. The controller is an ergonomic mess and speaks more to budget constraints than anything else. The launch titles are a joke. It's overpriced, with paid online and nobody is going to use that touchscreen in any insightful manner for the next two years if not more.

Nintendo decided to drag the most successful part of their business into the console stew hoping they would fix the leaky dyke. They were wrong.

The switch would be a downgrade from the 3DS as I have it now

Will do

Go shill your console somewhere else, nintendo.

I take a 40-odd minute train ride to and from work every day and play multiplayer with a couple of others who ride the same train at the same times. I'm going to play the switch on it, too.

I will enjoy playing BoTW on an SD card

How is pulling out a book or playing a game on your phone, worse than your handheld?

Besides, why do you care so much about what people think of you? I use my handhelds while I am away from home, like at doctors appointments cause the wait is long, and I have a blast, I don't care about what others think of me.

this

they WILL release an improved version

again, never buy a console at launch

Holla Forums said the PS4 pro was doomed and it's fairly difficult to get my hands on one. Oh and 4k is a meme.

People here just hate everything. And that's fine, just don't take it so seriously.

t. murrican

This argument is flawed.

The PS2 sold 20 million in Japan alone and yet nobody is making games for it anymore. Technology gets depricated. The Vita is reaching the end of its lifespan. And I say this as someone who plays 10 year old VNs so I'm not a graphics hoer. But you cannot look at the Vita now and be impressed with it. It is time to let go.

Even in America not everyone lives in the ghetto.

Most kids walk around with hand me down phones, Galaxy S6 or iPhone 5s.

I own both and I have no interest in the Switch. At the moment it has no games I'm interested in. I am however looking forward to the inevitable price drop in Wii Us so I can play Bayonetta 2 and Wonderful 101

Wii U's are only getting more expensive. I'm glad I got it for 300 bux in 2015 because they're $500 used every time I look online.

Nintendo ain't making them anymore.

I understand that there are real human beans interested in switch but all that shilling is vomit inducing…

lol

Sometimes Holla Forums is totally out of touch with reality, and this is one of those times. Constantly I see salty consolefags claim Nintendo is doomed, yet everyone, and I mean fucking everyone wants this console. Just because the autists here can't see why this would appeal to people doesn't mean it's not going to be a huge success just like the Wii and 3DS.

Holla Forums is very much disconnected with reality, mostly due to the disillusionment the density of pc gamers bring with them.

Why does everybody assume I think people would judge me for playing a console outside of my house? I'm not concerned with that.
I am the one who thinks people who carry handhelds around to play while they wait for 15 minutes are autists, not other people. Handhelds are worse than books or using a phone because their only use is to stimulate people who can't keep their autism under control in public.

I'm talking about the chip in the Shield TV, unless that shit is a K1 as well.

Since this is pretty much a handheld thread, what should I buy and jailbreak, a 3DS or a Vita? My last handheld was a PSP.

Do you want to play extreme weebshit or 1st party Nintendo titles? That is 85% of the choice.

Both have a fair share of weebshit, though. Especially if you play old DS titles.

How are the emulated ps1 games and ps2 game collections on the Vita? Haven't also played Ninja Gaiden Black yet, but I do also crave for some Icarus, Kirby, Xenoblade and FE.

Not that much of a weeb but how is the Ghost Recon 3ds game. Is it just as good as FE?

Btw, can you also pirate virtual console games?

PS1 games are a bit limited because the Vita doesn't have L2/R2 buttons (it uses the rear touch pads) but it does have an emulator for PS1 (Retroarch/PSN technically) and a native PSP emulator (PSN again/Adrenaline) if you're into that. As far as I'm aware the only PS2 games the Vita can play are those ported to it and since I haven't checked that much I only know of the Ratchet and Clank Collection on the PSN.

That's true but when I say extreme weebshit I'm more referring to the lewd or extreme niche titles the Vita got. Which was a little bit more than the DS (in English anyway, as far as I know)

3DS. It's easy as fuck and you can do it on the latest firmware. Freeshop makes piracy easier than on PC. All you have to do is follow 3ds.guide
Vita piracy is a thing, but they're still trying to properly crack it. Also fuck Vita memory cards.

Vita currently has the PSP part unlocked via Adrenaline/Ark, but PS1 support is still soundless eboots via Ark or emulation via Retroarch. PS1 is expected to come in Feb to Adrenaline.

Can install/dump games via Maidumptool on Vita, alongside overclock to get more performance from some.

Retroarch being improved, N64 emulator is coming to the system soon.

So basically when the vita finally gets games, they're from other systems?

Vita piracy (even what it has) is very much in it's early stages. The only dumpers for games are still userland based which means they don't ever dump right. No games released after Septemberish of last year because Sony actually changed the encryption on games with 3.61+ and reacts instantly with requiring firmware updates for new games. So if is looking for ease of piracy and all that the 3DS is far more mature.

Yes

Vita has games Sony just marketed it as BroHandheld when it was very much WeebHandheld

Also to point out, since dumping became a thing, Vita also has viruses floating around that brick your system. It's fucking hilarious really.

This is surprising to anyone? Unless you're a weeb, this much is true. Playing Sonic 2 on the OLED was a nice time at least.

They were literally just vpks that call system format fuctions and they were nearly entirely made worthless with Molecule requiring the enabling of unsafe homebrew for 95% of things that call functions. This, in addition to Mai being superior for dumping 95% of games mean vpks wiping systems is so low that you would have to do it intentionally.

Still funny that it happened. Of all systems that could afflict, it was the fucking Vita.

I agree, its hilarious that you still can't bring up harry potter on the vita without some fucktard complaining about harrypotter.vpk formatting the memory card early on

Will Switch have portable games? Like monster hunter, pokemon. As i saw, Nintendo keep saying that switch aren't a portable console, maybe they are using this argument to not launch portable games on it.

This is what i am concerned about the most too.

They are only saying that to get people to continue to buy 3DS consoles when they know they won't be making or selling games for them in three months.

What the fuck happened to the vita though? It had the hardware, no shit-tier gimmicks and every 3rd party loves sony yet it still went full nogames.

Sony dropped the fucker for the most part, and the memory card issue meant no one wanted to drop so much money on a handheld and then shell out extra for a memory card. No people means no games.

Really, at this point, CFW is its saving grace, and even then the development is slow since everyone circlejerking for the most part.

According to the weaboo goomba, it's only dead here in the west. It actually has a lot of third party otaku games that are keeping it afloat, and more popular than the 3ds in Nippon. It's not no games, but as an user said earlier, it was marketed differently over here, causing a majority of its library to be ignored as >weabshit

No it didn't. 3DS was miles ahead of the shita. It didn't even have 3D
They're paid to love Sony

Steve Jobs.

Phones are killing handhelds.

Sony doesn't know how to market their handhelds. When it launched they advertised it as AAAMini handheld. In reality it was WeebmachineR2 (PSP being WeebmachineR1). This, in addition to them refusing to advertise to the Weeb market, caused the console to die really fast (in the West) and Sony disowning the console with the commonly used tactic of taking their toys and going home. 3rd party support was good enough that it lived even though Sony hasn't supported it since 2014 though.

Additionally

Sony is thinking they can get the installbase of a Nintendo handheld without actually getting handheld unique IPs or actually supporting the damn thing. Most likely they'll "try" again in 2019 and cry again.

The 3DS specs were lower than the Vita in every way. The 3DS 3D was a retarded gimmick. Sony tried to copy Nintendo with touchpads everywhere and it wasn't used by anybody in a decent fashion. 3rd party weebdevs liked the vita because it had higher specs than the 3DS and let them create games with tits in them.

Only normalfag consumers think smartphones are a replacement for handhelds. The vita has a far smaller installbase than the 3DS but generally sales figures are claiming the average vita owner bought more software per console than the average 3DS owner. Niche markets sell well as long as you account for size.

PS4 happened.

It had some hardware, but it couldn't play PS3 games. Also no L/R2 and 3.
The rear pad wasn't as idiotic as the Nintendo 3D screen but it came close. It forced the first big games to use it just to show it off, except it's ass.

Oh fuck the rear pad, i forgot about it completely. What the hell were they thinking anyway? It was like putting the UMD reader on the psp. touch pads literally work by having electricity constantly run through them in a grid so when you touch the thing they can tell where you did it by knowing what area changed, and then they already have the touchscreen on the screen itself. It just increases costs for no reason and drains power on a portable system.

You just sent me on a journey of disappointment.

Who am I kidding I'd still mount it.

The rear touchpad is a shit-tier gimmick. If you held the Vita the way you're supposed to hold it you'd think it was some kind of joke. I use a plastic controller grip thing that clips over it and gives some handles to handle, because without it the Vita is really uncomfy. They might have fixed this slightly with the Vita 2000.
There's also the memory cards. Checking Amazon.co.uk now for 64GB memory cards:
The Vita ones are also slower, and apparently have a higher failure rate.

It's a shame, because the Vita is great on other points. It actually has analogue sticks, which feel nicer than the 3DS's circle pad and trackpoint. The buttons are really tactile, and the Dpad is fun to just roll around. It has loads of good games, and I love the tiny cartridges it uses. Sony just fucked it over with a bunch of really stupid decisions, then left it to die. It's still worth getting if you're into obscure games, CFW or no CFW. Just be thankful to the devs, not Sony.
It feels like a modern GBA, while the 3DS feels like a modern GBA SP. It's like the concept of the vidya handheld diverged with the GBA, which I think is pretty cool.

They were most likely trying to get Nintendo buyers because they thought what sold the DS/3DS was the touchscreen (ignoring that Nintendo has 30 different 1st part titles they float consoles with). They tried to up the touch by putting it fucking everywhere rather than realizing they should aim for a different market. The massive mistake they made was not trying to get L2/R2 buttons on the thing with physical buttons.

You're forgetting that the 64 GB card also has no warranty outside of Japan even if you buy it new. All the vita memory cards have a higher than normal failure rate (for sd cards) but the 64 GB has the highest failure rate of all the cards so you're gambling nearly 120$ that you got a good one. I heard they are almost identical to older SD cards minus a few pins moved around, that nonstandard pin configuration is probably what drove up the costs
The rear touch pads seemed like they were thrown on as an afterthought and they decided to also map them as L2/R2 to make sure people didn't think they were as retarded as they were.

...

I was stupid of buying a WiiU back in 2013 so I'm only buying the Switch after:

1. a price drop
2. after the library has at least 10-15 worthwhile exclusives
bonus: is hacked and allows homebrew

The 1 is a given. The 2 is probable considering all Nintendo consoles/portables except for the WiiU managed to reach that number of exclusives. And, to be fair, the WiiU came close to that number as well.

The bonus is not only for convenient piracy but for substituting the Vita as the portable emulator monster. So tl;dr I will probably buy it in late 2019 or something…

That explains the PS Vita but not the 3DS.

Sony can't market anything that isn't a PS4

There was non-stop shilling for the PS Vita on the first two years it came out. It is just that they can't sell the hardware with a shitty multiplat.

So, any word on this controller?
3rd party stuff may get a purchase off of me for once

It had the same hardware as high end larger phones/phablets that were around when it came out, and unlike consoles vs PC the average person has that hardware with a phone rather than just people who choose PC specs for the purpose of gaming. The only way that handhelds today compete with phones is content curation and not having "app stores" flooded with shovelware.

...

My Vita's battery lasts for ages and on standby mode I've left it weeks and it barely degrades. I can also fit in my pocket.
The Switch lasts about 3 hours and cannot fit in my pocket.

I can voice chat, browse the internet and play more than 2 shovelware titles on the Vita. I cannot on the Switch.

So much for an. "upgrade"

A big mistake a lot of people who think the Vita has bad batteries do is leave the screen brightness on default, on default it's utterly fucking blinding, at least the OLED is, and drains a shit ton of power. I keep it on lowest and it's honestly still too bright, but the battery last 4 times as long.

It's not that fucking big I don't know why everyone thinks it's a huge brick

The 3DS folds. The Wii U is not claimed to be portable. Fuck off shill.

More importantly, it's about the size of a Sega Game Gear.

The Switch is barely taller than a folded 3DS XL

The gamepad is also wider and fatter than the switch and you can't take the joycon off

I'm not buying this until Mario Odyssey comes out

9 shovelware titles, right? Course, you do have to pay out the ass to even play 2 titles at a time.

Considering their statement about no region locking is technically in the past, you'd do well to pull your head out of your ass and realize you overturned your own position here, all because you tried to be an avatarfagging memelord.

You're forgetting length.
The Wii U failed for a reason. inserting a tablet into a controller is retarded.
Cool, still shilling for a retarded Nintendo console

(1)
Most likely will be similar to the vita, no region locking but DLC is still locked to regional online stores.

I sold my 3DS when the library was so abysmally disappointing. I would have sold my Vita, but who the fuck is going to buy that brick? At least it is a portable FFT rig.

No one is making the games I want to play anymore, so I'm done with consoles. If/when the Switch somehow has an amazing Pilotwings game, an amazing F-zero game, and some kind of sims-ish game (SimCity classic, SimEarth, SimAnt, fucking whatever) then I'd consider it. If there was some kind of MMO-style pokemon RPG I'd consider it. But paid online? And I'm sure I'll have to re-buy the digital copies of games I already own from Nintendo's shitty e-shops of the past. Fuck me once, shame on you Nintendo. Letting myself get fucked generation after generation? …shit, even this Nintendo fanboy wakes up eventually. I miss the days Nintendo would take a chance on shit like Mario Paint.

What am I looking at now?

please use archive.is/articles/all-of-the-nintendo-switch-launch-games-confirmed-/1100-6446924/

Nintendo Switch Games:

Launch (March 3):

1-2-Switch
Gimmicky mini games.

The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+
Old rehash IP.

Just Dance 2017
Fucking laughable.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Will buy on WiiU

Skylanders: Imaginators
Not even my kids want this.

Super Bomberman R
Promising, maybe.

March/Spring:

Arms (Spring 2017)
Could be fun (Punch-Out and Super Punch Out were good) but it looks like motion control gimmicky crap. At least we get Rule34 out of it.

Has-Been Heroes (March 2017)
Already on Steam and FFS I've played Golden Axe before.

I Am Setsuna (March 2017)
ALREADY ON FUCKING STEAM, although this Chrono Trigger homage looks decent.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (April 28)
I already own Mario Kart 8 and if Nintendo thinks I'm re-buying any goddamn DLC at this point, they are out of their fucking minds.

Puyo Puyo Tetris (Spring 2017)
Not a fan of Puyo Puyo or Tetris, but I am glad to see at least something in the puzzle game genre on here. Where is my 3D picross sequel, Nintenjew? And Dr Luigi was bullshit, how about a real deal reboot/remake of Dr Mario?

Snipperclips, Cut It Out Together (March 2017)
Physics/logic based, multiplayer puzzle game…holy shit this actually has potential. Not worth the price of admission, but this one is actually interesting and doesn't look like I've played it before and isn't' already on Steam.

Summer:

Rime
ICO looking, but ALREADY ON FUCKING STEAM.

Splatoon 2
The first one was meh (FPS on a console? Seriously? Fuck you Golden Eye and Halo for making this goddamn timeline possible) so I'm hardly interested in a sequel.

Beyond/TBD:

Disgaea 5 Complete (TBD)
I've never been a fan of Disgaea, as much as I love tactical games. I'd rather see an HD remake of FFT, personally.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 (2017)
Shitty fighting game ALREADY ON STEAM

FIFA (2017)
LOL fuck soccer games.

Fire Emblem Warriors (TBD)
Boring.

Minecraft (2017)
ALREADY ON PC

Minecraft: Story Mode (TBD)
ALREADY ON PC

Rayman Legends (TBD)
Was on the fucking PS3 LAST GENERATION FFS

NBA 2K (2017)
FUCK NO

New Shin Megami Tensei (TBD)
Promising.

Skylanders Imaginators (TBD)
Boring.

Skyrim (Fall 2017)
Laughable. If this isn't the HD remake, even more fucking laughable. Have I mentioned Steam yet?

Sonic Mania (2017)
Potential.

Steep (2017)
ALREADY ON FUCKING STEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM

Super Mario Odyssey (Holiday 2017)
This one could be interesting…I was a fan of Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 back on the DC, so this could be fun. Hardly worth an entire system, though.

Syberia 3 (TBD)
Boring looking STEAM GAME.

Ultra Street Fighter II (2017)
Boring.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (2017)
Fuck this series in the ass, boring ass stupid typical unimaginative JRPG garbage.

TL;DR
Get a laptop and steam, play most of the Switch's titles today! The only things with any promise at this point are Super Mario Odyssey, Sonic Mania, New Shin Megami Tensei, Snipperclips, and Arms and none of those stand out as worth picking up the system day one. I got burned picking up a Vita before I knew it had games I wanted, I'm not making that mistake again. I'd rather plunk $300 on a new video card.

It doesn't matter whether you like it or not, that's the way the market is going. I'm surprised you even care considering you believe only an autist would use a handheld for what they were designed to be used for and suggest playing phone games instead when on the go.

That only happens in America.

Only idiots do these things. Don't be an idiot.

The 3DS XL is pushing it, and the Switch without Joycons is about that size. The joycons make it a little too big for my liking, and I wouldn't want to put them in my pocket without some sort of protection for the sticks because they cost a fuckton. If they made a hard plastic case that went over the Switch with joycons attached and added a hard cover to protect the front, I'd be ok with it as a pocket portable. If not, I'd only use it in a backpack with enough padding.
A modded PSP Go is still the best pocket handheld. It's tiny, very solidly built and the battery lasts forever.

???

You can turn them off

Just stop

Unless they come out with an improved version and axe the PAID ONLINE, I wouldn't even give it a glance.

You are under the assumption I believe handhelds were designed to be played in public. This is incorrect. Handhelds were designed to be stored easily not to tell people to avoid you. As with every market there is a small group that it is possible to market to even if the market goes in a different direction. These people still buy gaming handhelds and do not consider cell phones to be a replacement.
This is a marketing meme designed to appeal to autists. If you are truly "on the go" you do not have time to do shit like pull out your 3DS.

It isn't an assumption. Region free currently only implies discs can be used in any system not that they share storefronts. Sony consoles are region free and but the DLC is not and requires the same storefront the game was released for. This is for several reasons (including censorship and payment processors) and while I agree that very little DLC is actually worthwhile it is still a form of region locking.

Nigger i remember the Game Boy ads, the GBA ads and the PSP ads that advertised it as gaming on the go and showed people playing everywhere. You are full of it and coating all your posts with your own insecurities.

3DS library never excited me. I think I'm finally realizing I'm not a console player but a PC player after 30+ fucking years of being disappointed in console after console.

Splatoon was ok, I just still can't get over aiming in first person using analog sticks and not a mouse. Blame it on years of Doom/Quake before every asshole I knew was blowing up over goddamn Golden Eye and Halo. Since Splatoon 1 did nothing for me, the sequel is hardly a selling point (to me, personally). Even my kids thought Splatoon was just "ok".

Maybe in two years.

It's like, companies have a vested interest in appealing to autists. Congratulations on believing it I guess? Are you sure you aren't feeling offended because you realized you have autism?

Not an argument

Have fun being that faggot on the bus.

it's time to stop

I wonder who you could be

Not me

This isn't fucking reddit. Get out.

Not interested. I can buy it used way later if it has good games, but that's an unlikely if.

wew

It doesn't matter what you believe, what matters is what the company designed them for and what the vast majority of purchasers use them for.

Your group that believes handhelds are only for use at home is incredibly niche and would be better served with a dumb handheld just built for game streaming where their computer or console does the work. Hell, this even can be done with a Raspberry Pi today so basically any newer device can do it. Go get something set up for that and stop complaining about new handhelds not being designed to cater to you, because you can already have everything you'd ever want or need in a handheld given your planned usage.

If we're going by what the vast majority of purchasers use systems for the 3DS is for children to play pokemon and animal crossing. Companies have a financial interest in making their products not look like they're for people who live inside 95% of their lives so their designs and advertisements should not be considered in what they are used for.

Game streaming isn't actually a replacement for an actual handheld because it still requires a full size Console/PC and is still trash for real time games.
I'm unsure if you were restating the subject but a niche would, by definition, be a small group and the small group in question would generally find an actual handheld gaming console to be a better purchase than a streaming box.
Dedicated gaming handhelds will always have an advantage over smartphones because they don't have to be designed to make calls and have physical controls.

I'll wait and see how it goes. After the shitshow they pulled with censoring games over the last couple of years I'm a bit standoffish with Nintendo now.
In saying that, if it's the only place I'll be able to get weeb games then I might be persuaded to give it a chance. As long as it doesn't get dropped like a hot turd in the space of a couple of years.

You're aware most people are normalfags? Us autistic videogame enthousiasts are a small minority. Something to keep in mind.

Yes, but the people claiming gaming dedicated handhelds are entirely dead because of smartphones are apparently ignoring that niche markets exist and are successful.

Actually Nintendo handheld sales are declining as well. But Nintendo has Pokémon and Monsterhunter to slow down the terminal illness.

Would you get the one with grey joy-cons or the red and blue ones?

the colorful one, of course
also most of the switch games will appearantly cost fucking, 70€ (Bomberman wont, thankfully) according to amazon, the fuck is wrong with nintendo

They're probably going to make new colours, soGreen and Purple
Bit of a shame they couldn't find a way to do the whole n3DS cover plate thing again though. Even if it's just on the back of the Switch. It added a nice bit of personality to the console, and it's a neat place to stick vidya reference sheets and other things.

None of them

They probably see it as high end item that people read: normalfags will flock to like they did with iphone. So they think they will be able to get away with hiking up the price because people won't have a choice but to pay it.
I can see game prices being the first thing to get cut with the switch honestly.

Red and blue, I like me some color.

Both are non issues if you're just playing at home and aren't playing competitively (which no one does on a handheld). Using a regular PC is even an advantage because you don't need to worry about fitting the necessary hardware to achieve the graphics you want in the handheld or running that hardware off batteries. At this point it just seems you're trying to find things to complain about when you can already have all you'll ever want for the role you want a handheld to fill.

No shit, pretty much every separate single purpose portable electronic device has done its job better than the smartphones (or sometimes tablets) that most people have used to replace those devices. Idiots like you who call everyone who still prefers the older single purpose devices for use in public or for use in general an autist and say people should use smartphones instead are just another part of the problem.

Don't forget they'll never lower the price.

I wonder if it's pc gamers specifically or not. I spend probably 99% of gaming time on PC, and I'll admit I'm hopeful for this console. Mainly because we'll finally have a standardized Monster Hunter platform (but BotW looks good too…).

please

wtf are you talking about? are you talking about those hipsters who go to a caffeteria, order a coffee and then has either tablet/laptop/book in there? Those are not the kind of people I want to associate with

It's not a handheld though. It's made entirely with the West in mind, and that's why it's bound to fail. I'm sticking with the 3DS and Vita for the foreseeable future.

Companies don't underproduce to create hype they underproduce to guage market interest without making a shit load of expensive electronics that will take years to move.

It isn't hype, it's artificial scarcity. Nintendo does this with every console release. Don't try to bullshit, everybody here is at least old enough to remember the Wii.

Point and laugh at the guy with hopes in humanity.

How exactly could they know the wii would be the reigning, ps2-tier, champ of its console generation?

I don't see how the Wii somehow proves your point. It sold 20 million units in the first year alone; it would be crazy difficult to have predicted to manufacture enough to meet demand without ending up with a Wii U situation.

Honestly given how badly they've managed to predict the demand for the Wii, the amiibos, and the NES Classic, and how they overestimated on the Wii U and 3DS, I think it's just that they're really bad at guessing how popular their products are going to be. Might be the Japan-centric part of the company, maybe that keeps them from being able to read the American market very well.

How is the Switch an "upgrade" exactly? They're dumping the clamshell design, this thing is not portable.

The Wii had production problems for nearly two years after launch. You can't really chalk that up to "we didn't know" after a year goes past. The Wii U didn't have issues selling until people realized it had no games at which point sales dropped. Amiibos are intentionally under produced to sell all their units. You can tell this is the case because they also announced they wouldn't be reprinting most Amiibos implying they were using artificial scarcity to intentionally sell them all without having to commit to the medium and make them "collectibles". The NES classic was just another case of Nintendo being Nintendo, trying to play on nostalgia to sell people something and it obviously worked. They also had 3DS shortages they didn't forsee when pokemon sun/moon launched though I suspect that was because they were winding down production and going to end the 3DS soon, hadn't announced it yet, and kind of put themselves in a corner by saying they weren't going to drop the 3DS when the Switch launched

It's a sidegrade filled with the Wii U hardware they couldn't sell, it isn't a portable until they have good enough saturation that they can end the 3DS without much complaining at which point they announce the SwitchPlus which is the actual next home console they develop

I'll buy it when it has a mainline pokemon game. Even then I might wait because Nintendo has a nasty habit of releasing improved versions of consoles/handhelds several years after launch.

Which would be? I don't think it shares almost any components at all with the Wii U.

All those ugly bitches and niggers. I'd rather play my switch anyway with those ugly mugs

Then why make go outside with it?
Why make it mobile?
