Anyone played Mordheim?

Anyone played Mordheim?

Its my favourite GW game and i've seen this on sale on PSN real cheap. Is it any good? doesnt have to be a 10/10 but if its fun enough i might pick it up.

The retarded enemy AI ruins every bit of fun that single player could have. Havent played multi in a while but it was ok when I did. A shame because they were so close to getting it right. The lore, setting, aesthetics, were spot on but they couldn't put it together with the programming.

Its not bad but its not a 1-1 adaptation, and being a gw game its missing a tonne of content and then charges you for it later.
It doesn't even have all the official warbands.

Yeah its a shame it just appears to be the generic chaos undivided vanilla stuff and not carnival of chaos.
Still if i can fight for treasure in the city of the damned as a skaven warband im interested.

Why not check for yourself?

I regurally play the tabletop Mordheim.

Its dead where i am in Bongland, but luckily its spiritual successor exists and theres a fan version which makes it a Bloodborne tabletop.

I enjoy the "active turn based" gameplay or whatever you should call Valkyria Chronicles inspired gameplay.

Pirate it on the PC, and as usual, GW and maybe the devs didn't get it on some limelight, few vidya websites reported on it, only he niche ones that do Tabletop, game has had some updates, but god, some terrible dumb AI.

I got it recently and after the dreadful first missions where your guys get rekt easily, my warband got off the ground nicely.

Not perfect, but at least it's less RNG bullshit than Xcom.

Yeah i bought it and tried a few Skaven matches, amazed i havent heard Holla Forums talk about it before, it seems right up most folks alley. Still not the "Bloodborne meets castlevania meets dankest dungeon meets valkyria chronicles" i want from a god tier mordheim game but this is pretty fun.

Visually it's pretty fucking awesome, there's not a whole lot else to say on that.

Mechanically it can be both great and enraging. I have a lot of fun with it and there are nuances for each warband that can be hard to pick up on at times.

If you decide to skip the AI and go straight to multiplayer, don't. You have to progress in the single player to have a bad ass warband in the multiplayer.

It seems very similar to a pull out minigame i got in a WD issue like 15 years ago called "warbands of chaos" where it was a straight rpg and you start with one hero model a few goons and they level up and get blessed with mutations by your patron chaos god.

It's damn good. The gameplay is pretty solid and the enviroment in the game feels like you are in a city damned by the gods.

The thing is, of course, the RNG. The dicerolls can fuck you harder than horse high on steroids and viagra, but sometimes the RNG gives you a break, the AI has a brainfart and you get some nice stories here and there like:

The RNG was with me that day

Again i really dont know why Holla Forums doesnt rave about it, even a 7/10 game with chaos god shenanigans and ratmen should be in the regular rotation with monhun and XIV and the like.

I don't know either. The game has an incredible fun potential despite the brutal RNG, but somehow it's a hidden gem that skips almost everyone here.

Weird to see it happen.
Also, which warband are you going with? I rolled the cult of kek and so far i've done decently with my guys despite losing my first mutant

Since there is no Nurgle cult i go with what plaguebros i can.
Chaos undivided is so vanilla!

Well, you can make all your chaos guys go green and dressed as if they worshipped nurgle, but you don't get dedicated pestilence spells, only very vanilla stuff that it's pretty good.

Still, Sisters of Sigmar have better spells than most factions. At least in my opinion

Yeah in the tablettop nurgle has a roaming carnival that lures in townsfolk it stops at with japes and jolly times but eventually people notice they are immobilised and all sorts of bugs and parasites are nesting in their bodies and the carnival moves on to the next town outside Mordheim.

Damn, that looks so fucking fun. Wish you could pick a chaos god to side with or just go generic chaos cult.

Still, the chaos warband is closer to Tzeench than anything.

They always are, even in the mmo it was "undivided, but we lean tzeench so you have generic fantasy sorcerors".

Whens a man to get his game about being the plaguedoctor thats actually bringing the plague from town to town?

I've played a fair bit of it, but I have this unhealthy perfectionist mindset and keep scrapping my campaign warband whenever anyone takes a permanent injury. Not exactly a good mindset for a game like this.

I think never, because they want always to implement magic somehow and Tzeench is the only one with they can do it.

I want plague doctors. Or khornate warriors.
I miss them.

Actually some permanent injuries are kinda good depending on how you build your guys. Someone with a missing eye and double daggers will make the best explorer ever since it will have a crapload of initiative. And some injuries can be bypassed thanks to habilities

It's pretty mediocre. Check out Battle Brothers instead it the full release should be coming out early this year.

Can I just keep doing random battles while building up a warband and basically play it as a sword and sorcery PMC simulator or is it more limiting?

...

This is true. Fucking warpstone deliveries man. I understand the mercenaries and the Witch hunters sending warpstone outsside but with everyone else it's just stupid lorewise.

And the forced delivery it's fucking annoying

Because it's shit.
The AI is so bad that they make it have a constant advantage to you.
They will always hit harder, be more accurate, have more health and better morale.

This isn't so bad at first until you start playing into it and realize its a war of attrition, eventually you will have something happen 100% out of your control and it will make you descend into a spiral of self destruction as the people you get are inferior to what you have now but the game doesn't properly adjust so you are essentially playing with 5 units against 6 more powerful ones.

The Warpstone shipments are RNG bullshit.
Also the Side mission are fucking awful, half the time you will be trying NOT to kill the enemy so you don't win before finishing the side mission.

Which will happen more then not.
Try killing both targets you need to, having one trophy but unable to pick up the last one because your units are blocking the pick up spot and the next turn the AI routes.

Yeah, probably one of the best turn-based games out there. Its not an exact copy of the board game since the henchmen are supposed to be groups of guys and not just one dude. They have all the warbands that were in the main rulebook and they are planning on adding the rest eventually. Probably either the Orc & Goblin one or the Dwarf one will be next. Its not very strong story-wise but everything else makes up for that. Yeah, sometimes the AI acts retarded but when it dosen't you will get fucked. RNG plays a big role in the game, not just for combat. If you have a member go out of action there is a chance they can die in the post-game summary. There is also numerous injuries that can turn your best fighter into a piece of shit. Don't forget, there is also the chance of getting multiple injuries from one match on the same character, so they might only have a chest wound, but then they loose an eye or other crazy shit once you click 'Next'. As everyone else has stated, mandatory deliveries are annoying, but the devs have claimed recently that these deliveries will give you reputation as well. Which makes the game slightly more easier. It gets kinda crazy when you get an Impressive character. Also, watch out, just because it is the first mission does not mean it will be easy.

Overall I'd give it a 8-9/10 simply because they don't have all the unbalanced shit from the tabletop and the character appearance customization is lacking horribly behind every other GW based game with customization.(ie, they only have like one or two styles of hair, or just two colors for one thing.

Dwarf is next, they mentioned really wanting to add them next. The devs actually chat in the comments on Steam.

Based estalian.

Damn, that's a fucking brutal Flagellant. I also have a nice story:

That day, i started believing in the miracles of RNGsus

You mean Nuffle, right?

It never ends, years ago on /tg/ when they had Mordheim threads they always talked about how RNG would fuck them up as well.

Juan was great against Undead and Chaos. He passes all psychological tests automatically. I would pair him with my Executioner and those two were best of friends.

The Executioner and Juan were bros to the end. My force got raped by a Manticore later on with those two being the ONLY two to walk out unscathed, even though I routed.

THOSE WHO PRAY TOGETHER, SLAY TOGETHER

I started an army with the battle bitches but went out to play other stuff in the meantime.
Thanks for reminding me about it, I still got it installed. Time to get those psycothic virgins fighting again.
Don't have good stories yet, just my expectations from diferent matches.
Seryously, about 4 missing legs, 3 dead and a couple missing eyes. Even lost the main weapon of 6 guys.
So I thought "uh, so THAT is mordheim"
Fuck yeah, I'm the best at this shit!
No matter how well you thing the game is going for you, there will always be a moment where the universe sticks it's middle finger in your ass and makes you spin like a gay caroussel.

The sisters make me think of that one user that just played games where he could jerk off watching women die in pain. Probably mained the shit out of them.

You're goddamn right I do.

I had some fun playing the witch hunters, but it turned out the version I pirated had a game breaking bug in one of the story missions… then I couldn't transfer my save over cause the working one wasn't cracked by different group, and the files were different somehow

maybe i'll try it again

what I learned for sure was that units immune to fear/all alone are OP (that's why the flagellants are so strong besides the great amount of str)

That's why Darksouls from the Chaos guys are also really good. Also, they start with 2 handed axes that are brutal rearly game… If you manage to hit, of course, since for being a slow weapon they have -10% hit chance unlike the great flails from the Flagellants

Getting Flagellants with bull charge, mighty charge and strong blow pretty much will make them become the heavy hitters of your party

Love this game. It's got the setting down perfectly and you always end up with an interesting story or three. I've got a mostly ranged witchhunter band going and this one Zealot with a bow who outshines everyone. I knew the bastard was destined for greatness when he survived a Sigmar matriarch due to dodge and the poor matriarch exploding the moment she tried to cast a spell on him. Somehow the one eyed archer never misses, and crits when needed, best mook I've ever had.
By the time you get your warband up to lvl 7-8, the warpstone shipments shouldn't be an issue with higher difficulty ranked warpstone rushes. Not sure why anyone would find it odd that Skaven would use warpstone and ship some back home, it's done out of fear of the higher ups murderfucking them if they don't get something back.
