So why DOESN'T Steam allow Eroge and R rated content on its platform?
So why DOESN'T Steam allow Eroge and R rated content on its platform?
All urls found in this thread:
Why would you want that?
Same reason as youtube don't allow porn
Kids give more money than adults
Any more retarded question?
Why do you care what Steam does? Do you like DRM?
They do, just no demand for it because, like normal porn, you don't share shit with your friends faggot.
It does. There is that one free VN game with loli in bed with woman having sex.
That way they can get 2 sales from retards who buy porn games on steam then realize that it was censored. Also noone on your friends list wants to see you boot up Girl Vs Girl then close it after 30 seconds when you're done you fucking fag.
youtube has lots of pozzed pornographic music videos with vaginas and stuff. it's fair game as long as it's ((((art))))
if everyone is the jew, then no-one is the jew
Make a "Private Collection" section?
That's too much work. There still isn't even an invisible status option.
Probably because you'd be blaring that shit all across your friends list, it's akin to "like/share us on Facebook" links on major porn sites to tell everybody what you're fucking jerkin' it to.
Plus I imagine there's legal issues as far as distribution across various countries goes and Steam can't even be fucked to acknowledge that their servers fucked up pretty bad around Christmas time of 2015 when everybody was logging into other peoples' accounts or even had their home addresses revealed through having ordered a Steam Machine/Steam Controller. No way they'd go through that many legal hoops just so somebody could buy a shitty monstergirl VN off of Steam.
Wasn't there controversy over a game with porn in it on steam that got hailed by gaming journos because it was made by one of their friends yesterday? Did it get taken down already?
Yeah looks like that ladyboy game is "fully uncensored" so the porn is enabled by default instead of like everlasting summer where you just have to go into the config and change porn=0 to 1
the fuck are you rambling about?
I don't know, I guess normalfags don't buy that shit. Having erotic media even where there's oodles of violent bloody gory media is some kind of crime in America.
Some shitty indie porn game that won/will win awards because the dev is friends/slept with the games journalism clique
It does, you just see devs take the Patch the sex in yourself approach in case it blows up in controversy (Which should be nonsense)
Ladykiller in a blind, haven't looked at it myself though but apparently it's a porn game on steam made by a former girlfriend of Patricia Harambe.
I should point out that though it's supposed to be a porn game the porn is bad and it's a VN so it's a game either. Don't know who they're expecting to pay 30 bucks for this piece of shit.
But didn't Steam just allow a lesbian erotic VN?
He isn't a woman
Holy shit this looks terrible
Takes up space that could be used for shovelware and RPG maker games.
Is there an easier way to spot nepotism in this shitty industry than to check for award nominations and wins?
Anyway, enough laughing at the excrement of disabled SJW's, back to my original question:
Will steam still somehow ban other porn games, effectively aiding in a possibly illegal monopoly on their platform. Or will porn games be ok now on steam and how will they deal with the lawsuits from Timmy's mother who just discovered her son played porn games on steam?
why DOESN'T Steam allow Eroge and R rated content
Your assertion is incorrect
Neither of those games are considered eroge, Nudity doesn't immediately mean anything.
Gal Gun isnt either of those things and HuniePop requires a patch for the ero content, so no.
Probably not. Nothing is even close to competing with Steam, let alone with adult content. Nutaku want to try using Pornhub daddy's money, but theyre known to censor anything they come across so I wonder if theyll be trusted.
They might allow them, but only kosher games that are made to educate the player to hold correct beliefs.
Sweet merciful fuck, what the hell is wrong
Oh, nevermind. That explains everything.
It does, you always see one weekly in 'New Releases' and by 'New Releases' I mean real new releases, not that "Popular New Releases" bullshit.
They actually officially talked about this, I think. It's not strictly forbidden. Like said, there's just no demand, people get their porn games elsewhere without the DRM and social crap.
“The game oozes a magnetic confidence, from its sound design to its narrative tone—which is at once playful and intelligent. …the national anthem for sluts everywhere.”
72% – Kill Screen
Yeah, i just read that, that's like an actual review that the developers felt was fit for the steam page.
Or the pricetag
Unless something changed, they actually have yanked an erotic game from Greenlight before.
Then again they let any shovelware on Steam these days so it wouldn't surprise me if they stopped caring.
There is certainly a demand, but its predominantly toward niche Jap games. Check any all-ages VN that features an 18+ version that is released on Steam, the forums for them are always full of people asking about or requesting the uncensored version.
Cinderella Escape got knocked down for its content. Dev had to make a second version to release on Steam and put the original on DLsite.
It was banned until somewhat recently. But a couple of VN dropped in 2016 that were uncut so I guess it's no longer verboten.
Manface McGee gets to sell their propaganda VN uncensored
Jap devs have to censor their games and release uncensor patches outside of Steam to circumvent it
Justice does not exist.
Don't know who they're expecting to pay 30 bucks for this piece of shit.
It's barely doing better than Revolution 60 even with the awards and praise.
it's weird how the amount of people that own rev 60 jumps from less than 600 to almost 3000 in 4 days.
do I just not understand steamspy?
i really don't know, i only get more confused after reading through the facepunch thread talking about not porn porn where people were going through youtube looking for fetish videos uploaded for people to jack off to but weren't porn in the nudity sense
at most you'll get a censored game on steam with an uncensor patch on the dev site
Is it because Oney played it?
I don't think so, his videos on it are 3 months old now and broteam's video is 2 months old.
It would create a money singularity at Vavle's offices that would destroy their company.
Wasn't there /b/ tier totally not CP on youtube until a few days ago?
It was underage girls dancing around in skimpy clothing that got removed. While it doesn't break pornography law since it wasn't explicit I think it breaks child exploitation laws since most of these videos were obtained by men pay minors to dance for them in front of a webcam and distributing the videos on private youtube channels.
The youngest was twelve I believe. Most of them were teenagers.
It's patched in.
Yurirei is allowed completely uncensored, although sex scenes are fairly softcore and don't show genitals
Steamspy isn't considered accurate under 10k sales mark.
I can assure you there are enough degenerates on steam to make that first point irrelevant.
I was disagreeing with op.
But technically it doesn't have it because the base Steam version requires an outside of Steam patch.
That Ladykiller games has 22 reviews on Steam.
2 are from purchase, 20 from keys.
Wowee, Journos must be fucking salty about that Steam review system change.
It is an R-rate eroge, censored or not.
It's like saying Nintendo doesn't allow T-rated JRPGs on their platforms simply because it censors them.
Wait, do reviews from people who activated keys not actually count towards the game's overall score now?
They still count, but they're highlighted in the review counts.
No demand for it
But there's a demand for early-access-zombie-shooter-survival
hidden object games
RPG maker games
Western visual novels where the art looks highschool-grade
Oh, that was the VN I was referring to exactly. Looked like trash.
There's a box that you can manually check if you want the "I received this product for free" tag, but I can't find any other difference on there.
salty about the Steam review system
but not enough to buy the game and support it
Journalists are the lowest form of scum, the kind of scum that betrays its own kind.
Because videogames are for children and showing sex or violence to children is pedophilia.
The youngest was twelve
Because valve does not want to be associated with that niche.
Steam's current reputation is the digital games storefront, if they allowed pornographic material the few competitors they have, namely Origin, will no doubt try to push the steam>porn association in an attempt to kill that platform and take over, which would be bad because the new platforms would be run by companies even more jewish than valve.
Forgot to add that the digital erogame distribution niche is also already occupied by dlsite and numerous other services which are much more preferable for the material than steam would be, so they probably wouldn't even gain all that much.
They do, only their decision to allow/disallow a game is arbitrary.
It forces you to have that tag if you activated a key, I believe.
I think the option is only if you got it as a gift and want people to know.
Not much point. Even if they did pay for games using their patreon bux, the money would just be funnelled back to the reviewers by the devs patreons.
No it doesn't, the game has all the content in it already and just checks that a file with a specific name exists. If the file that can contain literally nothing as long as the name is correct is present then it uses uncensored mode.
It doesn't require modification of the Steam files
you have to add a named file that Steam doesn't download
I bet you're one of those niggers who gets mad when people use hack and crack interchangeably. It may not be a patch in the traditional sense but it is still changing how the files work by adding something.

You're contradicting yourself because the uncensored content IS hosted on the steam platform (packaged with the censored content), when you were arguing that you had to patch the game because steam doesn't allow uncensored content on its platform. It's more like starting the game with a command line switch.
Not really. There are several games hosted on steam that have extractable models that can be naked but those aren't accessible without extracting them. By hosting those games they technically host those nude models but you can't access them without messing with the game files. Adding a file to the folder, while not as significant as extracting models and the like, is still changing the game files.
My friends can already see I played 2110 hours of TF2, I have no dignity left to lose on Steam and I suspect most people can say the same.
Are they games intended for people to whack off to though? Nudity isn't inherently sexual.
No, but in the US, where Steam is based, nearly any form of nudity gets a game the R rating and the OP asked about Eroge AND R rated content.
Who gives a fuck what the jewish drm peddler does?
I fucking bet if steam allows porn, furries will be all be fucking over the front page.
I sure hope so. Anything that could shit it up further and hurt it is a plus in my books.
Sure it sounds good on paper. But this shot will just encourage them to go even more mainstream and infect other normalfags
R rated content on its platform?
Steam isn't for movies, faggot.
Kids (and their parents) are more profitable than the frankly small number of people willing to pay for such games. Also consider that even the people willing to pay for lewd games probably don't want them linked to their normal Steam account or linked to any account at all.
