You played Pirate's Curse, right? It's the exact same thing as that where you start off with all the important upgrades for speedrunning reasons. Maybe that niche is too small, but beating the game quicker will unlock stuff. But there are other modes coming out than just Risky. We're gonna get to play Sky, Bolo, and Robbie Rotten, but I don't know exactly how different it will be.

I really doubt we're getting the Sky, Bolo and Rottytops modes since they didn't got funded in the Kickstarter. Unless they release them as paid DLC.

Compared to the previous game it's a downgrade in terms of difficulty. I found the game to be easier than Pirate's Curse and the final level wasn't as difficult. The invincibility upgrade and the tiara also remove any sort of difficulty from the final bosses.

Shantae for the GBC is the best one

it's pretty good, but the small screen does make it harder to play than the newer games

My only gripe on the GBC one is having to hold attack to run.

Device limitations. I want a Shantae GBC with Pirate's Curse graphics. Although, part of the charm is the GBC sprites, not to mention the shit ton of content it have for a GBC game.

It's okay, though the game is way too easy with the upgrades and the level design, and the story goes to fucking nowhere. I hope they can add more to the story with the the other characters.

I was worried that it wouldn't run on mine, either, which was why I was trying to get a dump of the Vita version before. Nothing came up, so I went ahead and tried it on PC. I got it to stop lagging for 97% of the content by scaling it down to 640x860 or whatever it was. The other 3% wasn't lag that broke the game. I was surprised because even the final boss didn't give me problems until the second half which was just barely slower I think.

I doubt it, haven't played it yet, but wayforward probably played the safe card for a sequel or back to statu quo. There was an extra chapter with a reformed Risky Boots, but I think it wasn't funded.

Trips of truth, I want a Pirate's Curse engine remake. Even if they change dancing to match HGH, it'd be fine. The only complaint I have is night time doing nothing but make enemies more spongey. Change that alone and GBC Shantae is way more palateable.

This sums up my opinion of HGH the most. It really felt like a weird Mega Man game. Imagine a linear version of Mega Man 7. Also imagine Mega Man 7 isn't shit. Not to mention, they immediately axed the new genie 20 minutes after she arrives and that was a selling plot-point.
