The game is rated what's equivalent to "T" in Japan (CERO B), but when brought across to America, one scene of a silhouetted man holding up a silhouetted child with an impaled blade (he was stabbed OFFSCREEN). They care about the character's "identity". As such, none of their "characters" have any fleshed out qualities that encourage the gamer to continue playing the game. Look at Rev60. The lead character's backstory makes no sense. It doesn't inspire anyone to want to continue playing the game. As I said, I would primarily focus on the character of the player character, not game play or game visuals. Another example is Tracer. Tracer has enough of a character that motivates people to play as her. When Blizztard said that she was gay, the gaming community said "what ever". Not only did all the expected salt failed to produce but it showed that pandering was pointless due to the lacj of increased sales.
Motivation is a PRIMARY factor in someone playing a game and to continue to play the game or its franchise. Without it a game will always fail in the end. Just look at Battlefront, Sunset and Nu-Duke Nukem.
As for women/minorities in the games industry, as long as they add to the industry (as opposed to wanting to control it) they are welcome and you should get over your hatred of women and minorities. Freya didn't start out blonde, but because one person tried something new, it caught on, and it's now her default look. Look at Holla Forums: He went through many battle-scarred variants until people settled on the "Punished Holla Forums" look, and all it took was one person to scribble it in MS Paint for it to catch on.

Many people like Gilda as she is, and it's because comics and art ENDEARED her to them. So if Eltonel does some more comics about a new-look Gilda, and it's damn good and quirky and adoreable and catches on, then others may emulate her new appearance in their own art. And others. And others. And there it is: you successfully changed her look.

And if people don't like the new look… you can still keep it.

Just look what Kukuruyo is doing with Tay AI. She has had several different appearances from many drawfags, and she looks different in each one. But Kukuruyo gave her his own unique design and just started making comics with her. He never "crowdsourced" her new look; he just made comics, and people who liked the them used his design. It was that simple. And if they didn't use his design, it didn't bother him. This was how HE drew her, and will continue to do so. The Project SocJus game is also sticking with their original Freya/Danielle design, despite the community deciding they look quite different.

So just draw comics and art how you want, Eltonel. Give Gilda your own look, and run with it. If people like it, they may adopt it in their own works. If they don't, you can ditch it or keep drawing her that way anyway. Draw Gilda however you like. No Holla Forums 'Official Seal of Approval' necessary. I am of the opinion that Gilda is already Holla Forums's thing. The design is by TFYC salvaging that K-on porn posing monstrosity without any arms but the personality is all us. No one on reddit even knows who she is, /kia/ doesn't have her anywhere, and when they changed the up/downvotes they used Vivian and Lilian. The original plan was for her to be the smart, upstanding, and well natured opposite of Vivian's and we made her a helpless goody two shoes retard.

But Eltonel draws a cute Vivian and the one Gilda he drew is just another outfit and hairstyle. No one makes a fuss when he draws Vivian in pretty dresses instead of her usual hoodie. However, there's a difference between making different looks for characters and actually saying 'I'm going to change them because I don't like them'. It goes from good natured to mean spirited. Think of it in terms of something like Street Fighter, or any other game with different skins for characters. If the devs put out a new skin, cool. Maybe you like it, maybe you don't. But if they say that in the next game this character's base look is changed to one of their skins, and their old look isn't available anymore, then people have a problem with it.
