But they could have picked Zarya for that, which was the "logical" choice considering her particular haircut.

Tracer has a lot of fanart with buttchasing for Widow and her shorts\trailer help that. But out of all the females, she's probably the last one anyone would expect to hear anything about her orientation. Personnaly, I was expecting Pharah to be lesbian faster than Tracer.

So Tracer was made a lesbian both for the pandering but also to fuck with people. It's pretty brilliant.
But pretty stupid too and a missed oportunity. Bastion\Zenyatta should have been the gay characters considering there's only one gender for Robots and it would be a great joke to say that Bastion's gay.

Exactly, my problem is how blown out of proportion this is, there was always this "muh LGBT character when?" thread on the forums every other day, you know what most people on the forums responded to those? basically "who cares if they like chicks or dicks? Sombra buffs. Her damage seems good, but all her abilities don't mesh well enough. Also she has a habit of loudly announcing her presence on decloak for no fucking reason.

Kinda mixed. I never put much stock in the representation side of things until I realised that I couldn't find any male representation for a chronic illness I suffer from, that I could empathise with. What I have is hardly rare, but I haven't found anyone that relates to my experiences.

Guess that's kind of the issue gaymen has nowadays: people want representation, companies produce character that represents maybe 2% of all people, and it looks shit to the other 98%. Not every character can be sympathised with over a single trait. I'm sure some people love Tracer more, and a lot more think she's now the token gay character, and some think she's just a shitty, over-energetic lesbian.

Being honest, I just think they made Emily look crap. Something just feels off about how she's drawn.

I like to think it's a simple case of there being too many people on the planet and not enough to do with them, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if there where parties involved in making a mountain out of literally nothing.

They do but in a very weird manner. You gotta have 2-3 plans all the time, you see someone at low life near companions, you don't just go there, you gotta leave your translocator behind you. You gotta know when to hack and what\who to hack, when to advance and when to retreat, etc.
It's mostly about timing her Invisibility with her Translocator but if you time things right and make sure to always have a decent plan, it goes well.

In any case, it wasn't banned because of the game but because there was no discussion about it anymore. Just some porn dumps, blog posts and talk about Genesis. Discussion was done and over way before the threads were banned.

You've never played either of the games if you're posting this. They play nothing alike.
Overwatch is much more strict with it's roles while Paladins is incredibly more lax to the point Pip, a support character, easily outperforms Flankers at dealing damage and killing people.
Paladins also has a currency and items that reward your in-game performance and allow you to tweak your character on the fly (but they don't carry over to another match) as well as a card system that lets you play the same hero in different ways.

They both focus on different things and play differently. Overwatch focus a lot more on teamwork tactics, while Paladins focus more on gearing tactics.

TF2 is on life support with a ghost team of 5 people working on it. Competitive matchmaking is dead, casual matchmaking is fucking awful having seen the game put me in servers in other regions entirely, rendering the game unplayable on that server.

As fun as high level comp leagues in TF2 are, and pub stomping with friends is always enjoyable, there's just nowhere near the support that the game needs for it to compete with any other active multiplayer shooter released in the past 2 years. Too much item complexity stops new players from getting into it, and the idea of some unobtainable unlockable weapon that'll require cash or 150+ hours of game time to hopefully get enough metal to craft it, isn't appealing.

I've heard that, since there's Vive and Dota 2 still has some success, nobody on Valve wants to work on an old game anymore. The few that do, do so more because of obligation than anything. Uncle Dane had a video about this.

Paladins is not necessarily faster. The Horse is not your default speed, which otherwise isn't that big anyway and movement abilities are present in either game.
In terms of pacing, Paladins is indeed faster, but shorter and smaller. It focuses it's engagement in a far smaller area and for less time than Overwatch tends to do.

Also, if you want a good answer, it's because Paladins is far closer to a MOBA than Overwatch, which brings with it all the problems MOBA's have (but that shitposters don't bother to even know, they just know ASSFAGGOTS are bad, mkay?)

Paladins tends to snowball faster due to the items and the credit system with little to no comeback possible, while Overwatch can indeed snowball with it's Ulti's but comebacks are still very much possible since it's only a temporary advantage you get and only if you capitalize on it.

The more general characters that can perform at any role but excell in theirs versus Overwatch model of being crappy at any role except your own also means teamwork takes a backseat.
One person is always gonna be a loner autist that flanks the other team and can safely disregard his own, other people don't need healers, just stand in a corner, tanks eat damage from everyone anyway and anyone can avoid damage too, damage is plenty and done by everyone, etc.

Paladins is fun, but it's simple retarded, brainless fun. You can't take it seriously and because you can pretty much play it alone despite having a team, the game grows dull very fast. As a bonus, this also means that you'll find far more often retards that refuse to communicate or cooperate in Paladins than Overwatch.

I played it during free weekend, and it was a fucking bore. There is no depth or long lasting appeal to it, how the fuck do people spend 60€ on this trash? Oh and the hit detection sucks ass too, the only positive I can think of is that it runs on a toaster. You're wrong on both accounts. If you see this, you did not play the game, not even during the free weekend and the few videos you've seen either were shit at presenting the game or you're shit at seeing videos.
Overwatch is neither of those.

It doesn't cost 60$ either, unless you're a good goy, but that's on you.
If you can't see the appeal, maybe the game isn't for you. There's plenty of other games that you'd probably enjoy a lot more out there, you can play those.

Some people like the cooperative style that Overwatch brings to the table, where working together matters more than having good aim.
I think the best way to explain it's appeal is using Team Fortress here.

You had people that liked to play Soldier exclusively because of rocketjump and how deep it was a gameplay mechanic, as well as having to lead your targets and that you could almost play it on your skill alone.
But at the same time, there were some people that liked 12v12 not for pubstomping but for the sheer chaos that came from the combination of several different classes, where they could all their arsenal to interact in different ways with the other team.
Overwatch is the refinement of everything the second group likes in detriment of what the first group likes and that's it.

If you value personal skill more than teamwork and you don't like to lose because your teammates can't keep up, Overwatch is not the game for you.
But if you value 2 average players working together beating 2 better players working alone, if you value tactics, positioning and strategy more than aim and fast movement, Overwatch is the game for you.

As an example, I'd say every Engy, Heavy and Medic main would gladly make the transiction from TF2 to Overwatch. They get mostly the same kit but improved on and with extra value given to them. Meanwhile, I'm sure Soldier, Demo and Scout wouldn't enjoy such transiction since they'd lose a lot of firepower and their HP advantage.

ive had OW for a while now but only started getting into comp recently, last time i played was before comp even existed. and competitive is absolutely full of immature fuckwads that can't play and don't understand anything, it's horrifying.

A couple other teammates were good sports and told him to shut up and that maybe he was the problem. We started losing and he pegged it on me. He tried saying some weak shit like "golds dont mean anything" and the team laughed at him, which shut him up, but that kind of ridiculous shit happens at least every other match.

In DVa related news, I always played her as a tank, and now I see a DVa in every single game. Usually one on both sides. The fuck did they do to her? Everyone and their mom uses dva now. It's also stupidly easy to rack up ungodly numbers of elims with her primary fire, they should probably change that. I don't think I should be able to nick the entire team and get 6 elims in 10 seconds if my teams wipes theirs. I've finished standard matches with some stupid number of eliminations, like 30s and 40s.

Fucking hell. I really don't know what to think about Overwatch. TF2 was my first FPS and what I consider my first "real" video game. It's what got me into this mess, after all. Now I've played several hundred hours and am in the top 1-2% of players in terms of skill.

Overwatch is not fun in a casual sense, unless you are like me and enjoy sniping or crushing noobs because you've wasted thousand of hours of your life playing FPS games. When I play pubs in quickplay, I want to kill myself because people will always take Widow, Genji, meme characters, or other shit, but the fucking one hero limit keeps me from doing any of that fun stuff too. The only casual fun I can have in Overwatch is in 6v6 no limits, so that I can *for sure* play 76 or McCree or Widow or whatever hero I damn want to so I can warm up or crush scrubs.

Overwatch is not fun casually because its core game mechanics rely on ultimate abilities. You cannot go into a game, mindlessly shoot, and honestly expect to win. The game was designed such that brain-dead retards can press Q and at least get one kill. This is what is fun for casual gamers and Blizz's admittedly genius game design.

With that in mind, however, this fucks over everyone who comes from traditional FPS games or MOBAs and do not immediately understand this aspect of the game. These are the people who are somewhere between "casual" players and "hardcore" players, the people in Holla Forums who criticize Overwatch for being neither an FPS nor a MOBA.

In reality, Overwatch is neither a traditional FPS or MOBA, even though it takes elements from both. I would describe it as a MOBA presented through an FPS because of how much abilities fuck over your mechanical skill when it comes to shooting your guns. Well, that's not exactly true. Abilities don't fuck up your capacity to shoot so much as they introduce *control* into fights, much like explosives in XCOM. Simply, they allow for you to rely not so much on factors outside of one's control, like lag, muscle spasms, and the movements of other players - factors that we've all had to learn to deal with on our own in other games. McCree's flashbang is an excellent example: unless the McCree is bad (or unlucky), if you have less than (140 + 25 + 30) hp, you are going to die if you come within range of that ability. Players need to account for those abilities when choosing what fights to take, and that is a concept foreign to many FPS players. After all, I'm only used to players having different guns that do different things, not reliable ways to stun me if I get in range. This is the main reason why some characters are in the meta while others aren't, even if they have similar damage numbers or mechanics. For example, Widowmaker is a good class, but there are abilities and classes (e.g. Winston) that completely disable her, which makes her less viable than, say, Soldier 76, even if Widowmaker has an easier time killing enemies.

Furthermore, the game's core mechanic of building and using ults (press Q to win) is not immediately understood because Blizzard's interpretation of "ultimate" is different from every other MOBA. There is no XP to farm before you can use your ult; all you have to do is wait, but shooting/healing gets it more quickly. For casual players, this is nice because all they have to do is dick around and *eventually* they can press Q to get at least one kill. For hardcore players, games are won or lost based on ult use. If you use too many ults, you'll lose the next fight; if you use too few, you won't win this one. Because ults have such a big impact on the game and reduce the need for one's own mechanical skill, a lot of players dislike Overwatch. This, however, brings me to my main point: Overwatch is a *team* game. You cannot carry a match on sheer individual skill alone - you have to coordinate with your team in order to use just enough ults to win the fight while still keeping some for the next. This is why solo-queuing is such fucking cancer - the only constant is your skill, but the deciding factor of the match is your team's ability to work together. This is something that is completely out of your control and would (unsurprisingly) infuriate people who are neither casual or super hardcore players, like the vast majority of Holla Forums.

tl;dr: Overwatch is only fun for braindead casuals or the highest levels of competitive gameplay.

Almost everything can be countered, some characters are better at this than others. The closes you can get to a flawless ult is to combine them with your teammates' other ults.

So yes, you are correct in that this is a team game and that solo queue can get really cancerous when everyone in your team cares for themselves alone. The recurrent problem here is that most people do not realize (or don't want to realize) that switching heroes or even clases is an acceptable strategy, and they should do it when the opposite team is effectively countering everyhting they do. Then again, you will sometimes have to work with faggots who refuse to switch because they "main" that character. You can have your favorites but you don't "main" characters here, unless it's for the purpose of getting familiar with their mechanics so you can use them more effectively later on..

Carrying implies that one person can invalidate all the work that the other team did and all the flaws your team has. Carrying basically means that teamwork is just an option, not a requirement to win a team game.
What if someone else is on the other team carrying them? What now? Who wins? The better carry? Because that's what frequently happens anyway, you'll quickly notice that not all players are at the same skill level and one will have a more promeminent role in his respective team.

Overwatch, like many other teambased games has a very simple rule of thumb when it comes to winning rounds: the winning might not have the best player but the losing team always has the worst player.
And this is how it should be since the point of the game is working together and not taking the lead alone.

That's absolutely what I was saying. I only talked about ults on their own in the shitter level, where people who can't use a mouse try to play. For them, using an ult is a fairly guaranteed way to get kills. In the higher ranks, like you said, the way to win is to use ults together.

On switching heroes, it also doesn't help that you lose your ultimate when you switch. You can have someone play a hero who isn't very good in a situation stay on that hero just so they can "use their ult and switch," but even after switching, they still have to build their ults up again. This further restricts the viable hero pool because every second spent on a hero you'll switch off of is effectively a second lost that could have been spent building an ult on a better, more reliable hero. I almost wish that you could transfer a small fraction of your ult to whatever hero you switch to based on your damage dealt or healing done or time spent or whatever so you could go for risky Widow picks or Mei stalls or things that won't completely fuck over your team's ult economy and let the enemy team snowball to shit.

Yes, two players of different skill will have different impacts on the game through their ability to gain and use their ults. However, using a pulse bomb is a near-guaranteed way to secure a kill, oftentimes more guaranteed than shooting on its own. For instance, getting it to stick on the enemy support is a more reliable way to get a kill than actually diving and shooting the support by hand. Pulse bomb is a bad example, though, because it actually requires some skill to execute properly. A better example is Reaper's ult: just walk close to someone and press Q, bam, easy kill.

It's only bad if you expect to be carried off of your aim alone, which is the point I was trying to make. Players of traditional FPS games like Quake may not have the skills necessary to coordinate with a group of random people that is required for this game. For instance, I don't think my mechanics are bad, but they could certainly be better, and they aren't as good as the top players, but I feel like my ability to lead a group of random shitters is my strongest characteristic. Of course, not all shitters are going to realize that listening to me means we win.

But pressuring themselves to wait until a full charge and using it before switching heroes leads to situations where the ult itself is not being used to all it's potential, since the player feels like they must use it ASAP. which by the way, is something I kind of hated in Splatoon where you would lose the special charge whenever you die, so people are even more pressured to drop it at a less convenient time, or they risk having to start over. I felt it was counter-intuitive
I tend to switch characters when necessary, regardless of the ultimate status.
If you are taking longer than usual to get it to full charge you are 1) waiting time that you could always use playing with a more useful hero for the current situation, and 2) not being that effective with your character to fill the charge at an acceptable rate; which again, goes back to how useful you are to the team, and whether the opposing team is fucking you over.
If all else fails, characters with a self-healing ability are the best option if you really have to carry the rest of the team.

There always the possibility of a player competent enough to be a nuisance to other players, even when using characters that are supposed to be a counter to the former. Switching is not a flawless strategy, just like pressing Q won't guarantee you at least one kill. If you don't know how to use a pair of scissors you are not going to do shit to the paper.
I just speak from my past experiences with the game, and switching after accepting that I am being particularly shit with a certain hero (regardless of how well the rest of my team is performing) usually yields better results than if I kept using the same one for the remainder of the match.

Wrongo, to be a F2P game you have to have a model that emphasizes modular content access and continual payment. This is either achieved through gating significant and finite amounts of content through DLC (characters, maps, entire game modes, etc) and/or giving players access to an undetermined amount of "minor" content through Microtransactions (consumables, cosmetics, unlocks, etc). The latter is more insidious because there's often no hard upper bound for the amount of money one could spend on these if the creators keep adding onto them. Especially slimy when you gate them behind random drops and give certain ones arbitrary qualities like "unusual" or "legendary". Of course there's almost always the option to acquire (some of) that content for "free", though you're almost guaranteed to have to spend a disproportionately large amount of time instead of shekels.

Advantages don't matter, the type of content being divvied up doesn't matter, what matters is that they charge you for content that's already in the game you've downloaded, which is what makes it like a F2P game, yet this game still charges a retail price. This has been a reoccurring problem with numerous AAA games, OW included.

They haven't charged any more than the 40 bucks I paid for the base game.

Meanwhile, I've paid 40€ for Overwatch and I've already unlocked several skins and other shit for that. I wanted the Valkyrie skin for Mercy and I got it without paying a single cent, unlike all the F2P games that don't give you any option for their cosmetics that doesn't involve spending money.
And I can even play the game and look at every faggot with a skin and know that they don't have any advantage over me (unless they are cheating :^) and if I ever lose against them, I'm just not good enough.

You know OW's unlock system works nearly the same as Dota 2's? Except in that game you can trade items or directly purchase what you want instead of needing to purchase gamble boxes or hope you get enough in-game currency from duplicates (rather than get more of those useless lines and sprays that bog down the drops). If you removed the retail pricing from OW, it would fit right in with other F2P games, and would be a pretty decent example of one given that it's not P2W (and that kind of already exists in the form of Paladins). Leave it in though and you have another shitty AAA monetization system. Maybe not quite as shitty given that it is just cosmetics and other tat, but it's still fucking over access to content for the sake of further monetization in an already retail priced game.

Example: MGS with the bandana and stealth camo. You had to play the game once to get one, then AGAIN to get the other and then one more time to enjoy them both.
Or DMC with it's dificulty levels. You play one, you unlock the next. You play that one, unlock the next.

They are "unlockables". The method of unlocking might be shitty or well done, but they're still "unlockables".
If I recall, Dota still has pay-shop exclusive items and the "trading" is akin to a gasha scam: flood the market with common items to make the rarer one's worth more.

Never enjoyed the game. Had to cover a friend because he wanted the loot boxes. Played for two weeks and nothing. Feels too clean and safe. I did get Play of the Game a couple of times and leveled up, but nothing. At least for me, I don't get the hype, and the porn got boring fast.
