NEW TO ACE COMBAT? Ace Combat is a series of arcade-y dogfighting sims where you pilot a multitude of fictional and real planes in various conflicts in the alternate world of Strangereal. This game isn't like other flight sims such as DCS world or EF2000, in that it doesn't strive for an absurd amount of realism in its flight model. Instead, Ace Combat is all about fun. Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is the latest game in the series and will be releasing on the PS4 in 2017 with PSVR support. If you want to try out the series, grab the latest PCSX2 build from here and use the settings pictured (or if you know what you're doing feel free to raise your graphics settings however you want): buildbot.orphis.net/pcsx2/index.php or grab a PS2 and play Ace Combat 04, 5, and 0. Those are the best of the series and if you enjoy them you'll enjoy the rest. If you have an Xbox 360 then grab Ace Combat 6 (No idea whether it runs on Xenia). See the chart for any other games you may want to try.
I finished my first playthrough of the translated AC3. Ended with the Neucom path because I liked Fiona. I'm not a fan of their aircraft, so doubt I'll be flying for them again anytime soon. How does New Game + work, if it exists? Just want to be sure since not everything in the menus is translated.
Levi Howard
What's the quality of the translation like?
Mason Thomas
While I am by no means an expert in moonrubes, just about every piece of dialogue is translated properly from the looks of it, with the exception of some minor things said by characters during missions, and a couple of the animated cutscenes from what I've seen (that may be due to a technical limitation however). I haven't noticed many, if any, translation typos or other such fuckery, although I have only played one path so far. Overall, I'd say it's pretty good. Still needs a little more polishing in some areas, but the Japanese version of 3 is definitely worth playing.
Adrian Brooks
Fuck, meant moonrunes
Angel Myers
My antivirus thinks OpenHorizon is infected, can anyone else confirm this?

Bumping for Belka.

Has Mega always had this hebrew shit?
Benjamin Fisher
Greetings fellow aces. In a bit I'll be posting the complete soundtracks for every single Ace Combat game (including the arcade ones). So stay tuned for that.
Liam Davis

Hudson Ortiz
Personally I enjoyed Zero a bit more than 5, and it definitely was less cheesy in its plot.
Christopher Evans
Truly low-effort
Leo Hughes
I liked the aces in Zero more, they had more personality and were actually a challenge for once, but Pixy was such a faggot that he brings the whole story down, especially because it's centered around him.
Then again, it's hard to top Nagase.
As for the cheesiness, I didn't find 5 cheesy at all. Maybe a bit naive, but it opens up with Nagase commenting sailors are being burned alive in the sea, proceeds to murder the shit out of the nuggets and then you're forced to sink a whole fleet, murdering thousands of loyal soldiers merely doing their duty. It's far darker than Zero in that regard.
Christopher Cooper

Does meme magic exist in Strangereal? Could Belka use it to reclaim their rightful clay and slay Osean pigs?
Samuel Cooper
Remove yourself from this board.
Aaron Sanders
We must make Ustio Belka again
Blake Watson
Who would be the Trump of Strangereal?
Asher Lopez
Make me.
Luis Rodriguez
If you don't post "0% BORDERS" to 5 other boards then tonight you will be visited by 3 ghosts. The ghost of Pixy past, Pixy present, and Pixy future. All 3 will then gangbang you until Belka reclaims it's rightful clay.
Now get out of here and start posting. You want to protect that tight virgin butthole, don't you?
Jason Hernandez
Who else, buddy?
Wyatt Green
Gamerips or external releases? Or both?
Carter Flores
Of course, only he could make Belka great again.
As far as I know it's both. It also has extra tracks included in certain ones (Like GATTA STAY FLY in the Assault Horizon OST)
Included here is the soundtracks for: Air Combat Air Combat 22 Ace Combat 2 Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception Ace Combat X2: Joint Assault
All in one convenient 2GB .rar file.
Leo Ross
Razgriz protect you user.
Even if it is a .rar
Luis Cruz
Do your yes/no answers matter in AC5?
Lucas Sullivan
user you had one fucking job.

AC threads are surprisingly comfy.
Austin Robinson
Probably because this is one of the few game series that's largely untainted by any of the drama that plagues many other series.
Zachary Foster

Lucas Cook
Besides that, but even that is not so much the game but over the plane in real life.
Jonathan Myers
Nice to hear an opinion on the overall quality. Do you have any examples for what you thought was good and for what was off or weird (maybe too literal)?
Andrew Mitchell
Kill me. I should have remembered to get rid of that stupid name after shitposting on a different board
Christopher Rodriguez
It's also because pretty much everyone on Holla Forums can agree that the games are good, barring Assault Horizon, and everyone agrees that AH is shit as well.
Isaac Green
Assault Horizon is weird. It feels like the creator of Ace Combat 5 had some gameplay ideas (DFM, helicopters, bombers, etc) that he wanted to try out in the next major Ace Combat game, but wanted to make sure that they were actually good ideas before he actually went through with it. So he basically threw together Assault Horizon to try them all out.
If you look at the plot, Assault Horizon is literally discount Ace Combat 5. You have your main War[canine] squadron (Warwolf, Wardog) fighting against a former adversary from a cold war (Russia, Yuktobania). The enemy then reveals that they have a new burst missile superweapon and it wrecks everyone's shit below a certain altitude for a while. We then have the tragic death of a squadmate (Chopper ;_;, that one guy who I never cared about) which drives the characters to fight harder to avenge his death. They literally made a testbed game with an already-written plot to test new gameplay features.
After seeing the negative reception to DFM and helicopters, they were omitted in Ace Combat Infinity, but bombers were left in because people seemed to like that. However, the interest in bombers also eventually faded, and so now Kono knows exactly what to do and not to do gameplay-wise for Ace Combat 7.
TL;DR: Assault Horizon's purpose was basically to be a testbed for future AC games. While it was shit, it will probably contribute to making AC7 even better.
Tyler Clark
Let's hope that's the case and the fuckers don't go full "Dumb white devirs don't understand grory of DFM" and treat AH as the benchmark for all future games.
I mean, they went on record saying they wanted to make Call of Duty with planes.
Wyatt Perry
They've already stated that DFM won't be in AC7. It wasn't well received in either Japan or the west, so there's no way they would think it was a good idea. I don't get this whole "Will DFM be in AC7?" meme.
Julian Murphy
You should take advantage of the six slots available in your save file. Save at the branching points so you don't need to replay everything again. The endings you get are saved in a general 'global' area of your save file, and when you get all 5 endings you will get the epilogue.
The Delphinus #3 is pretty damn nice…
Sebastian White
Yes
Adam Watson
Just realized that most of the music is unorganized and mislabeled. I went through them all and fixed them by hand. Here's the fixed download:
O'er azure skies And emerald plains Where freedom and justice prevail With courage and strength We'll fight to the end For liberty in our land!
Adrian Clark
I would be fine with bombing missions in AC7, as long as they're sparse, or we can do them with multi-role aircraft like the F-35. :^)
Mason Phillips
I beat Ace Combat 6 tonight, kind of disappointed that it was so short but I enjoyed it for the most part. If only it had been on something other than 360…
Benjamin Gray
I still declare this graph to be bullshit as long as it lists Northern Wings as better than Xi. Northern Wings is pure garbage, even worse than Advance if you ask me. Xi may be an iOS game but it's far better than shitty Java phone garbage.
Henry Allen
I enjoyed AC6 a lot, cheesy story and all. Shamrock got too emo for me over the city, but he redeemed himself.
Cameron Ross
fuckoff shes mine
Jack Ramirez
According to reports from green flag and red flag, the F-35B is supposed to be really good at bombing and ground attack, so it could be pretty fun to relive that in AC7.
Joshua Miller
The liberation of Gracemeria is probably my favorite song in the entire series.
My number two would have to be Demon of the Round Table though.
William Evans
I loved AC6's pride and cheer it had, The Liberation of Gracemeria is great to go along with it too. The feeling of liberating it while people are cheering and Garuda 2 is screaming 'We got our city back!' and the AWACS saying it too is great
Post fucking disappeared, The scene after you destroy the Aegir Fleet in AC4 where they sing the anthem of Usea is great
Josiah Clark
That reminds me. I really think they dropped the ball with how they used that phrase in the game. It's like they couldn't make up their minds if it was supposed to be a positive or negative phrase, the emotions tied to it are all over the place. Needed to find one purpose and stick with it.
Evan Morris
thanks user
Noah Lewis
No problem. Tell me if you spot any issues.
Carson Jones
Neat.
Camden Howard
You wouldn't be able to treat her right. She deserves a real man, such as myself. I bet you don't even know her name.
Owen Gomez
Wouldn't it be cool if there was a survival mode in AC7 where you would have to face off against the protagonist squadron of every single main AC game up until that point, culminating in having to face off against an AI version of yourself that copies your own style perfectly?
Andrew Nelson
What view mode do you play? Third person gives me headache HUD feels best for me but I wanna get into cockpit for that immersion but some planes limit view so much
Zachary Rogers
...
Mason Miller
Sounds about right.
Ryder Thomas
Cockpit all the time.
Landon Evans
Third person is for plebs.
Cockpit mode is the only way.
Owen Anderson
I HAVE SO FAR TO GO

Asher Thomas
My niggers right here Didn't know Holla Forums was so casual
Luke Thomas
What does that circle mean that looks like a gear in the middle of the screen that sometimes pops op?
Jaxon Howard
Well Galm trips, nothing the characters said seemed particularly weird to me to be honest. All of their dialogue is human and believable I'd say, except perhaps Rena at times, but she's autistic anyway so that's probably supposed to be the case. This is likely the second fan translation I've ever experienced, but it definitely isn't bad. Most of my nitpicks come from what is possibly technical limitations for the subtitles, and my own controller settings while emulating which made the inevitable tunnel run tedious as fuck. Admittedly, I always found it weird that a character would say a faction name, but the subtitles had to slowly show said faction name at the other end of the sentence, but that's just them backwards speaking Japs for you really.
Oh the R-103 Delphinus was definitely decent as fuck, but the other two I was stuck with before on the other hand, I didn't like those. Just didn't like the way they handled compared to the other, more traditional, aircraft.
That's likely your gun sight, for aiming bullets instead of missiles at a close enough target.
Justin Jackson
IS VIC VIPER GOING TO BE FLYABLE?
Lucas Thomas
(checked)
yes
Michael Morgan
You mean that small circle in the middle, right? Whenever you get close to an enemy target, the reticle will appear. You can then use your gun to some effectiveness. If you use your gun when you don't have the reticle, you'll only be wasting ammo.
Nicholas Thompson
When I was younger, I used third person because of the unrestricted view. Now I love cockpit for the feel.
Daniel Turner
You actually can hit your target without the gunsight, you've just gotta git gud.
Ayden Ross
Post your planefu My plane has a toilet, mini-stove and space for walking around/lying down, does your plane have that?

I love 5th gen aircraft partly because of their appearance and partly because I'm tired of people acting like 4th gen aircraft were the apex of aerospace engineering. They definitely look good, but the 5th gen is taking those design principles to the next level.
Joshua Adams
Why does the F-4 look so good?
Austin Sullivan
Because we all love taking MiG-17s to school on our magic flying school bus.

Dominic Lee
More games need Viggen.
Lucas Morales
It starts with Wardog. You face Blaze, Edge, Chopper, and Archer in F-14As. After you take them down, Yellow 13 and 4 members of Yellow Squadron spawn in front of you, Mobius 1 behind you. A three sided battle breaks out. You'll see Yellows take shots at you and Mobius 1, and vice versa. Once you make it past that wild furball, you face Galm team in their Eagles and Crow team in their Falcons, complete with Crow 1 and 2 to form a 5 man squadron.
After taking them out to the beat of delicious flamenco, you get to land on Aigaion to reload before you face off against the Emmerian Air Force: Garuda team in F-15Es, Windhover's squadron of F-16Cs, Sky Kid's squadron of Mirages, Avalance's F/A-18s, and Snake Pit. Fighting near Snake Pit is more difficult, but the Emmerians will be very protective of their ESM source if you get in close. Otherwise, they'll use the SAAMs on the Super Hornets to try and snipe you while they're near Snake Pit. Once they've all been eliminated, you take on Scarface Squadron. Slash and Edge are in X-29s, but Phoenix is in the XFA-27 and is capable of using both its 4 lock missile system and ECM to throw off missiles.
Once they've been downed, you land on an island airbase before taking off to fight against Grpyhus and Falco squadrons. Gryphus 1 is in the XFA-24, flanked by a pair pf Raptors while Falco 1 is in his XR-45, flanked by two YF-23s. Take down the OC Donut Steel squadrons and Warwolf Squadron in four Raptors complete with bullshit aerial mobility intercept you. Take them down, no DFM required, and rearm at an airbase.
Next up is Reaper from AC:I and the Arrowblades. You get the Arrow squadron's mishmash of planes: Reaper's F-35, Omega's Typhoon, a Fulcrum, a Falcon, and alt-universe Nagase's Ridgeback Squadron with four Shinden-II's. They tend to fight better when they're paired up, but obviously Reaper and Edge are the real threats. Once they're down, Joint Assault's Antares Squadron shows up. I don't know anything about them, but maybe it's just a straight up dogfight.
After that, shit gets weird. Beating the JA Boys will replenish your ammo without need to land. You then square off against one of each of the R-series and all of the experimental super jets of Eletrosphere to the beat of sick techno. Take them down and suddenly, the music changes, and the Razgriz squadron flies in with F-14Ds. Take down Blaze, Edge, Swordsman, and Archer to move on to the final battle: a perfect copy of your squadron.
Wyatt Young
Having finished 4 5 and 0 once my opinions Best briefing, best story, overall worst missions Too long, super cheesy at times(dog part, rock n roll),Yes/No was annoying, best missions Best music, best fights against aces, amazing ending.I liked it the most.

Is it possible to emulate PS2 Ace Combats with just a keyboard? Is the right stick essential for gameplay?
Ryder Reed
Yes, just bind keyboard controls. Not essential in a sense that you have to use it, but essential in a sense if you want to see where the enemy is.
Isaiah Lopez
Thanks, I just checked the controls myself and started donwloading it. Haven't played any AC since the first one, so my hopes are up.
Luis Richardson
I am new to ace combat. I want to try the ps2 games first but i just want to ask, is there any story connections between them? Should i play them in order 4 to 5 to 0 or can i start from any of them?
Chase Edwards
Release order always.
Parker Green
What about AC 1,2 and 3?
Brandon Cook
Well fuck, it runs like complete ass on pcsx2. Weird ass vertical lines everywhere, mountains shimmering in the first mission, sudden drops to 5-10 FPS. I'll just get it for PS2 when I see it.
Parker Ortiz
You could read the thread and PCSX2 wiki to find solutions to that.
Aiden Roberts
The older games are a bit difficult to get into, so you're better off starting from 04. You won't miss out in story at all, so no need to worry about that. 04 and beyond is where the series really started to spread it's wings, so you'll probably want to save 1, 2, and the fan translation of 3 for later on.
Ayden Price
I have not played 1. 2 felt kind of meh 3 is pretty good.
4, 5 and 0 is considered perfection so you wont lose any sleep from not playing the first 3.

It doesn't have a real toilet, it's more like a vacuum cleaner you piss into. I don't think it has a stove either user. You're planefu isn't that good, you're not thinking clearly.
Bentley Sanders
You're correct. The Su-34 doesn't really have a stove or anywhere you can "walk around in". A lot of that shit was just made up either by enthusiastic fans or Russian propaganda.
It's honestly surprising how much shit about Russian planes is flat-out made up for propaganda purposes, such as the usefulness of the Cobra maneuver, that Russian engines spewing smoke totally isn't a major design flaw that needs to be fixed.
Sukhoi and Mikoyan planes are amazing, but a lot of people elevate them to godhood statuses for little-to-no reason.

How can you so easily disregard the ace combat game with one of the best soundtracks? It's only flaw is it's StarFox tier graphics, the inability to roll, and lacking of any story. It's easily one of the comfiest and most relaxing one. Also that final mission was pretty dope.

That's just objectively wrong.

Poor choices as well, these aren't even the best song from their respective games. Here's something good.

I don't believe the first game had that option.

I think you need to get your hearing checked, 6's soundtrack was great.
They don't have to be, they're still better than AC1's soundtrack (which isn't a bad soundtrack, just inferior). Lifeline is alright, but it doesn't get you pumped like those other songs I posted.
William White
...
Jason Torres
6's soundtrack, while not bad, is the worst in the series. I don't know what to say about X-2 as I've never played it. Air Combat gives my such a good feeling that when I get done playing it I feel like I just woke from a fever dream. I get this sense of euphoria from the first game that not many other games give me. I feel like a lot of people skip it because of the graphics, which upsets me because it's one of the most fun games.
Austin Bailey
I tried it, but skipped it due to its vastly inferior gameplay and almost total lack of story (not to mention what little story it has is totally irrelevant to later games). It's not a bad game, it's just not as good as any of its sequels.
Juan Turner
Angus Dei doesn't count because it's not even music. It's the sounds of god
Tyler Williams
Its gameplay is just fine. The controls are a but stiff, but what would you expect from an early 3D game. I skipped it on my first time playing it because of the same reasons as you, the lack of any story bored me and I didn't like the tank controls. Once I went back to play it a few years later just for the sake of finishing all the mainline AC games, I ended up having a lot more fun the later I got into the game. I recommend you finish it before you pass final judgement on it. Also, are you telling me that you didn't even fight the flying fortress since you never beat the game?

Oh yeah? Well what if I nuke myself huh?
Jason Johnson
This is a thread on Holla Forums about a video game series that happens to be about planes in a fictional universe.
It's common fucking sense to realize that discussing real-life military acquisition programs is off-topic.
If you feel like discussing Belka's development of the F-35, then be my guest, but if you're gonna be a twat about one dude's favorite plane just for the hell of it then bite me.
Robert Moore
Go ahead, just please give me some time to get myself some popcorn.

Man I love these comics.

Come up with ideas then, maybe some artfag will pick them up. Not that I'll have access to my tablet for a few more days, mind you. You know what I'd like to see? National anthems. Especially for Belka, being some unholy mixture between Germany and Russia. Their anthem must be awesome.

Would Osea's national anthem be some weird mix of the US and the UK?
James Adams
Have fun user. You're in for a wild fucking ride. This series is fantastic.
Yup. A lot of the century series fighters were also equipped with internal weapons bays specifically for this missile.
Anthony Nelson
Clearly you don't appreciate lifting body design. That "fatness" gives it a crazy amount of lift for its size and allows it to pull stunts like flying with one wing.
Ayden Lee
So what you're saying is that the F-35 is thicc.
Grayson Bennett
Precisely, user. The F-35 is actually pretty thin for a lifting body, but you can still see the similarity in body shape if you compare it to other pure lifting bodies like the Northrop M2-F3.
William Hughes

Kill yourself. A lot of people don't have PS2s, and emulation of AC games has gotten pretty good.

DARTS vs VIPERS Two Air Defense Interceptor Pilots vs Two Tactical Fighter Pilots
by S. Michael Townsend, LTC, USAF (Ret) "Viper 1, Pierre, Bucko, Genie, FMO, Rafsob" Circa 1984
I was a Captain stationed at Tyndall AFB as an F-106 Instructor. This day my wingman, a fellow Captain and Instructor, and I were scheduled for Dissimilar Air Combat Training (DACT) with two F-16s from Shaw AFB. I was to be the Instructor for the training on the Air Combat Maneuvering Instrumentation Range (ACMI) over the Gulf of Mexico, a highly accurate tracking system that would record all maneuvers in the airspace by the aircraft, score all shots taken and simulate any kills. None of us had ever fought against the other type's fighter. Tactical Air Command pilots considered Air Defense pilots a lesser breed.
I started the preflight briefing after introductions with the Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) and his wingman a Lieutenant (LT). The LTC immediately interrupted and told me he had no idea why they were scheduled for DATC with aircraft that were far inferior to the F-16 and that it would not be much of a challenge for them resulting in very little effective training. He stated that we should engage with full up all weapons capability for both fighter types even stating that even though they only had heaters (heat seeking missiles) and guns he saw no disadvantage for them. I hid the fact that he had pissed us off and verified that he meant for us to use the full weapons capability of the F-106. He replied, of course you can! I smiled as I looked at my wingman while stroking the inside of my thigh, this pecker checker was going to get hammered when the Genie popped up!
I briefed the LTC to take his flight to the farthest most southern point of the airspace and be prepared to attack the coastline that we would defend. We would place ourselves on "Five" (five minute alert) and scramble when we saw him takeoff giving him the advantage of being ready when we arrived. I told him to be sure to look at the F-106 ramp on takeoff to verify that we were there on "Five" and this would be important in the debrief. We briefed two engagements followed by join up for 1v1 basic fighter maneuvers (BFM), him versus me and the wingmen against each other.
The fun began as they lifted off and saw us on the edge of the ramp, "communicating", with a raised finger over two rising moons! We had a hard time getting our crew chiefs to stop laughing so we could launch. A gate (full afterburner) climb to 41,000 feet put us in the airspace in 6 minutes when I called "fight's on"! I felt sorry for my wingman because he would not get a shot on this first engagement. One minute later I called "Fox 3" "KILL, two F-16s north bound at 18,000 feet. Nock-it off, nock-it off, fight's over, return to your safe area" was immediately passed to the Viper pilots. The LTC was so confused that the ground control intercept (GCI) controller had to tell him that he had been shot by a "NUC" (Genie tipped nuclear rocket) and that him and his wingman were DEAD so return to your point! I told GCI to inform him that we had one more Genie but that we wouldn’t use it on the next engagement.
Score: Darts 2, Vipers 0
Ryder Williams
I put my wingman in four mile trail as we began the next engagement from 41,000 feet at 1.2 MACH racing down to their altitude of 18,000 feet, dumb a - - he didn’t even change his altitude to make it harder on us. Since they had face heaters (firing heat seekers in our face), we cooled our jets by retarding the engines to idle power to cool them off and denying the face shot while maintaining supersonic on our downhill slide. They took the bait, the leader rolled out behind me, the wingman behind mine. We had them right where we wanted them! Not even an F-16 can sustain a climb followed by a 9 G turn and roll out 2 miles behind a supersonic target and chase them down so the missile will make the kill. The leader found himself in front of my wingman who easily “Doe popped” him with two missiles while outrunning the F-16 wingman.
Score: Darts 1, Vipers 0
After a fuel check we split for 1v1 BFM. Starting from line abreast each fighter turns 45 degrees away from the other to gain spacing. At the fight’s on call the fighters turn toward each other passing canopy to canopy with no advantage. The knife fight begins in earnest as they turn to gain six o’clock on the other for a guns kill. Hands are helpful in explaining what happens next. Obviously the Viper can out turn a Dart and the LTC was behind me closing for guns! My next maneuver required exact timing or it would turn out all bad. As he closed for the shot I presented him with the infamous “F-106 Barn Door”. This is a frightening experience for anyone who has never seen the Dart act in such an unbelievable aerodynamic manner. Never attempt this maneuver at home as it should only be done by a highly trained and experienced Dart driver! With him captured solidly at my six, in a hard four G turn, closing for the kill, fangs out and dripping, I held the G while applying full opposite rudder. The Dart responds beautifully with an opposite direction roll through the vertical to a full nose down dive where I apply full afterburner and dash for the deck. From the Viper’s cockpit it looked just like someone opened a barn door in his face, nowhere to go and no idea what to do. Suddenly the Dart disappears. His only option was to call nock-it off because he lost sight having never squeezed the trigger. Meanwhile our wingman had to nock-it off because the LT was low on fuel.
Score: Darts 0, Vipers 0
I sent the Vipers home and my wingman and I played for a while. My debriefing was short and sweet. The Fighter pilots had to fly again to get some real training. It went something like this: Know your enemy. Never underestimate your enemy. Never enter a gun fight with a knife. Never engage an enemy when you don’t have a clue. Lose sight lose the fight. Pecker checkers should be well endowed. When the Genie pops up, you’re gonna die! Nothing was ever said about the moons, I believe we “communicated” effectively!
Final Score: Darts 3, Vipers 0 America remained safe from attack!!
William Ward
Thanks, you gave me a reason to replay the game a 6th time

Nigga the hell you talking about? The Lightning is fun as hell in-game and has some pretty good stats. You can pretty much breeze through AC5 with a squadron of F-35Cs. Sure, it's not the best plane but the superfighters are OP anyways.
Hudson Barnes
Also this shit is why people like Pierre Sprey and John Boyd shouldn't be trusted. On paper, a Delta Dart should never be able to defeat an F-16. The F-16 is leagues ahead of it in technology and design. However in reality it all depends on the skill of the pilot, the tactics being used, and the ToE.
Never listen to someone who'd rather kick your ass with a slide rule than with a jet.
Julian Wilson
Reminder that John Boyd once got laughed out of Top Gun because he insisted that a F-4 could mathematically never shoot down a MiG-17 to a roomful of instructors, a few of whom had accomplished that personally.
Carter Mitchell
I recall from a thread way back when an user suggesting that a final mission song for a Belka based game would be something Gregorian sounding. Embed related was the song in particular he posted with it. Maybe something along those lines would be their anthem, to fit their history of honorable knights and rich clay?
Cameron Reed
Reminder that John Boyd only briefly flew F-86 Sabers in Korea as a wingman and never scored a single kill. After that he would never fly in combat again.
Reminder that Pierre Sprey was never the "designer" of the A-10 or F-16, only wrote the preliminary requirements for both programs, and was unhappy with the results of both programs, saying that they were "loaded up with crap" as he always does.
Reminder that the self-dubbed fighter mafia wasn't hated for their "rebellious" nature, but because they were considered a bunch of self-aggrandizing pricks who never shut up.
Owen Cruz
Razgriz bless you drawfags
Josiah Turner
Wasn't that the same thread where someone suggested Mongolian throat singing as an atmospheric song in AC7?
Brandon Brown
A Strike/Brave Witches video game made by Project Aces would be pretty damn awesome.
Henry Wright
That was me. I can't remember if it was the same thread, though.
Zachary Ross
I have never played an AC game before so i don't have anything to add to this thread but i would just like to thank for giving us the links to these games and i would like to thank for giving us the music.
Jaxon Green
You're in for a real treat, user.
Elijah Butler
You're too kind, user, I just copied and pasted the links from the last thread. Anyway, have fun!
Cameron Rivera
I can't wait to play these, but i have noticed that i can't download Ace Combat 3, it seems like the files can no longer be downloaded.
Josiah Morales
That's the cutest post in a while
John Thomas
Go look at emuparadise then. It should be up there. I'll upload it right now so if you can wait I'll have it for you.
Jason Adams
No problem, user.
Wait a bit. I'll upload it to MEGA. All of the other links should work, AC3 was uploaded by some other user.
Joseph Wood
I will wait. You could upload it with the patch or you could just link the official site for the patch: projectnemo.net/ Either way, thank you very much.
Sorry. Make sure to upload yours, maybe there's a newer pre-patched version that I don't have on my PC but you do.
Aaron Murphy
I uploaded AC3 4 days ago

What is this, a russian imageboard?
Samuel Barnes
But user, isn't Russia supposed to be our friends now? Isn't Putin totally trustworthy now and only wants peace among all the inferior western states?
Cameron Peterson
nyes xz and .tar.xz is better though
Ethan Baker
Does somebody have a link to an already patched version of AC3, for some reason the patcher refuses to work for me.
Michael Torres
I am really tempted to take up pottery and make some clay models of Belkan Air Force.
Joshua Murphy
Just make a clay model of Strangereal and call it "rightful Belkan clay"
Owen Young
How can anyone seriously believe that either Russia or China actually wants to make peace with the US? I genuinely cannot comprehend the logic behind it.
On a more serious note i'm assuming user won't compress it with something else since he didn't so i'll download the thing and upload it myself. my download speed is 1.7MB/s (although mega only lets me reach 700KB/s) and my upload is 192KB/s although i expect 100KB/s to be a more realistic speed. I'll properly compress it to .xz which is a very popular format on unix-like operating systems and both 7-zip and winrar can extract on windows (although i'm not sure about other utilities)
Aaron King
What's is it with the anti-rar memeshittery these days? Are we being raided? Who hasn't had winrar installed for the last 10 years? It's the superior compression format.
Next you'll tell me to pack files into ECM format.
Parker Taylor
I think it's mostly just hate against RAR5, which requires the latest version of winrar. However if you're a unix basement-dweller like over here then it's just bitching for the sake of bitching.
Brody Lopez
fuck you nigga, also 7-zip and unrar can decompress rar5 files. The file itself is apparently compressed in it's own way so while i did save a few megabytes from .xz compression it doesn't really matter even if someone just posted the decompressed file itself
Liam Turner
There's definitely a difference between AC2 and the 3DS remake. Big differences, and extra tracks from other Ace Combat games.

You could always go to Amazon or eBay and pick up the PS1 and PS2 games and play them on real hardware.
Ayden Roberts
I don't know how much you'd be willing to shell out for physical copies of rare games, especially if you're not sure you'd enjoy the series, but do as you please.
Edgy flat mango Nagase a cute.
Jaxon Gonzalez
You are correct, but if you need to use hardware acceleration and have an AMD video card then you are forced to use DX11 for performance reasons.
Jace Hill
shit didn't mean to post that
I still get much better performance with the Dxd11 renderer for some reason
It's almost like you enjoy getting fucked user. Also, what's your problem with emulating games when they look far better on PC? Is it just your autism? It's okay user, you can tell me.
Jayden Allen
i think the "m-muh pirating a platform that died 10 years ago" has genuine 'tism
Cameron Flores
user, I think you need to improve your reading comprehension. I love emulating games, my post was >implying that emulation != piracy.
The games are cheap as fuck when buying used of Amazon, worst case scenario is he spends $8 on Ace Combat 04, doesn't like it, then skips the rest of the franchise.
Julian Robinson
Dude, I could go on Alphabay and buy a gram of some fire weed with that kind of money. I wouldn't waste $8 on anything I wasn't sure about.
Jonathan Wood

Noah Reed

Wyatt Walker
Don't tell me you've bought into the bullshit propaganda from the drug war, user. I bet you'd defend the batshit insane US scheduling system too.
The only truly right answer here.
Leo Jones
China and the US are economically codependent. As much as they may hate it, and each other, they need to continue building economic ties, or they're both fucked. Now Russia and the US are a different story. The only critical international trade that Russia does is in natural gas, which the US has no need for (since it has plenty of its own natural reserves), so both countries are more free to rattle each others' cages. Also, Putin thinks that Russia can become a great power again, which is delusional at best.
Carson Wood
I totally get that the US and China are codependent, I'm just mystified by people who think that China's happy about that fact. If China ever got the chance to drop the US and overtake them, they would take it in a heartbeat.
I totally agree with you on Russia though. Putin seems to have some delusional notion that they'll be able to keep up the same shit they were doing in the cold war. I just can't understand how some people (such as our president-elect) think Russia doesn't consider the US just as much of an enemy as the US considers them an enemy. It's absolute insanity.
John Lee
You are a sheltered retard.
Juan Jackson
Lol do you volunteer for DARE too?
Gavin King
That pic of the guy flipping off the camera was actually my dad. He got 5 years for having pot. I believe that he was imprisoned unfairly and because of the damn war on drugs I didn't grow up with my father. I believe that there is nothing wrong with weed, I just fucking hate the smell and don't like being around people while they are smoking it. So no, I have not bought into any propaganda, I just enjoy giving people shit.
Fuck you :^)
Jayden Price
Sorry to hear about your dad. Fucking pisses me off to see how many lives the DEA has ruined thanks to stupid bullshit.
Fun fact: medical meth has been legal for decades. It's classified as a schedule 2 drug and is marketed as a ADHD and narcolepsy medication under the name Desoxyn
THE DEA IS ACTUALLY TRYING TO SAY THAT METH IS LESS HARMFUL THAN THC OR CBD
Fuck that recent scheduling of CBD as a schedule 1 drug still has me riled up. sage for off-topic.
Fun fact: When the Drug Task Force raided my family's house over him having weed, one of the officers threatened to blow the brains out of my 8 year old sister with cerebral palsy if she didn't stop crying. Because of that my grandparents were able to sue the police department and they had to get rid of the Drug Task Force in our county.
Michael Cooper
Agreed. Anyone here seen the Ace Combat reference in Flight Highschool? Berkut's only friend is the ASF-X.

Justin Wood
I-it still hurts.
Isaac Collins
What do you guys think is the best stage in the whole series?
My favorite's probably Sea of Chaos in AC5.
Gabriel Jones
Chain Reaction at Apito Airport. It's like something out of a Clancy novel. Night mission defence flying, then the military carriers unload the tanks with the civilian airliners still flying around.
It's delightfully chaotic.
Dominic Smith
While perhaps not the best mission in the whole series, The Liberation of Gracemeria stood out for me in Ace Combat 6. It truly felt like a massive battle to take back your capital to me, aided by the larger amount of operations necessary to complete the mission. On higher difficulties you couldn't just slack off either; without you to aid your allies, operations would fail and the mission goal would suffer for it. It also ended with you facing off against Strigon team's own ace Ilya and his super plane, fighting solo to give the other Strigon pilots a chance to escape. Plus both the mission and ace fight have some real good music.
Kayden Reyes
A lot of the missions in AC6 were big, with several operations. It's cool, but ceased to impress me after a while. I started appreciating having more variety in the operations, rather than simply having large fights or many operations. I hope AC7 keeps the operations, since they can affect each other and the overall success of the mission–but I hope they scale it back a bit and make each one feel a little more special.
Josiah Gomez
THE GAMES HAVE NATIVE 16:9 OPTIONS GO TURN IT ON THE GAMES HAVE NATIVE 16:9 OPTIONS GO TURN IT ON THE GAMES HAVE NATIVE 16:9 OPTIONS GO TURN IT ON THE GAMES HAVE NATIVE 16:9 OPTIONS GO TURN IT ON
Matthew Martin
Got that image from a youtube video. It really is poor resolution.
Ayden Thompson
Yeah I'd expect that I suppose. Morons.
Hudson Rogers
The maps in AC7 are already confirmed to be massive (there's apparently going to be a free flight mode just to explore them) so we'll definitely see operations returning in some form. Hopefully something that can give a sense of scale and make you have to work to keep up. I definitely hope that it's tweaked a little more from AC6, cause it could get a little too hectic in some missions.
if there's a branching story system based off of what parts (or all) of a mission you complete I would cum buckets. Stories with multiple endings are sorely lacking in [current year]
Hunter Martinez
Holy fucking trees with dicks Batman, I love AC4. Finally decided to give it a go, and what a fine game it is. My only other AC game was the first one on ps1.
Having a great time here.
Lincoln Richardson
First game in the holy trinity user, gotta give 5 and 0 a try as well.
Ian Bell
Play the rest of the holy trinity dude. It only gets better from here.
Wyatt Robinson
I'll definitely play the rest of the holy trinity. Guess I'll go for AC3 after I'm done with 5 and 0.
Joseph Davis
They haven't really done branching story lines since 3 (and even then as I currently play it, it seemed they were experimenting mostly), although I notice they go with an alternative often. Like 5's Yes/No choices sometimes affecting which mission you will do, Zero's Knight/Soldier/Mercenary styles, and 6's own operations. If 7 doesn't have branching storylines, I'm expecting some sort of alternative to boost replay value like in those cases. That said, I swear there was an interview stating 6's operations system wouldn't be present, and neither would AssHorizons's DFM.
Justin Nguyen
Yeah, Kono has mentioned a couple times that the maps are 100x100 km, which is 10,000 km^2
William Thomas
Yeah go for that. 3 is really the only PS1 Ace Combat worth playing.
William Scott
Will do. By the way, the MEGA link to AC03 in the OP is down.
Elijah Price
I've linked a new version twice in this thread.
Do you niggers ever read anymore?
Christian Sullivan
The real shit about AH was the Press-A-to-Win (PATW) dogfighting sections where no matter how many missiles hit a plane it wont go down until you go into this shitty scripted close-up mode
That ruined the game for me, not the helicopter part
Xavier Watson
Did anyone else find the plane controls in Assault Horizon slippery? AC5, 0, and 6 feel a lot tighter. I'm not necessarily talking about realism either
Jeremiah Mitchell
Didn't see it user. Sorry about that, I wasn't really reading through the thread. Thanks for the upload.

This is my personal GOTY 2016. I don't care if it came out in 2001. I feel ashamed for putting it off for so long. Unf/10.
If only more games were this well made. It isn't perfect, and to be honest, all the 'score attack' missions where it's just "kek score x amount of points in x amount of time lol" were lazy as fuck in my opinion, but despite those flaws the game was the bomb until it ended.

ACX is only good for its sick techno soundtrack and the ridiculous amount of superjets with stupid made up weapons in the hanger. Having alternate versions of missions based on Gryphus 1's choices is kind of cool too.
It's alright.
Hudson Peterson
Happy new year faggots.
Nolan Price
Well, I never meant it as being as powerful as the Holy Trinity, but in a pinch, it's standard Ace Combat with a slight twist as you've pointed out. Plus customizable planes, that's sometimes fun.
