Seriously, what the FUCK was it about the 1990s that made it so shit for film?

Seriously, what the FUCK was it about the 1990s that made it so shit for film?

You look at any other decade for film before the 90s and there's a large variety of groundbreaking classics being made that stand the test of time but then you get to the 90s and its all just cheesy blockbuster shit.

The only genuinely great films were released early in the decade and probably started production in the 80s, such as Goodfellas, Home Alone and the Hunt for Red October.

Sure, there are some fun flicks like Groundhog's Day and Jim Carrey movies and action films like Terminator 2, Speed and Seven and so forth, but the genuinely intelligent, gritty and realistic films just weren't being made like before. It'll probably take until the 2030s for good films to start getting made again. What gives? Is it because of the success of blockbusters like the Empire Strikes Back made film makers focus only on blockbusters, and they never recovered to making films creatively again like they were in the 80s?

It's when stoner humor and LOL SO RAD shit was in full swing.

no matter how shit the 90s were, they will never be shittier than the years that made neoliberalism a thing

*blocks your path*

Sahnic edgeog

They wee saving the best for last.

...

I think it's because a lot of the more creative filmmakers started making indie films instead of trying to make it in Hollywood and without anyone breathing down their necks they didn't put as much effort in as they would otherwise. Either that of the 90s was simply the time when embed related came into full fruition in the film industry.

are you gay?

What was with the 90's and those squiggly lines. What were those even?

He had his moments but on the whole I don't care much for him.

Compare Pale Rider to Unfogiven and say that again.

Weren't the 90's when neoliberalism began?

Try the 60's

Huh never knew it went that far back. I thought the 60's were more like hippies, socialists and social democrats or something.

80s.

to be honest you have to have a pretty high IQ to enjoy zappa's music

The 2000s and the 2010s are better than the 90s but these are essential 90s kino

Goodfellas (1990)
Braindead (1992)
Jurassic Park (1993)
Se7en (1995)
L.A. Confidential (1997)
The Lost World (1997)
Armageddon (1998)
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998)
Pi (1998)
Eyes Wide Shut (1999)

The Matrix (1999)

Its a bruce willis flick and is watchable despite its poor direction

watchable =/= good
The Rock is the only Michael Bay flick that can be passed off as good, and that's if you're being generous.

Here's another worth mentioning.

I've already seen both of those, and all other relevant virtual reality movies (Fourteenth Floor and Existenz)
It's not my fault if your favorite movie is fucking unknown

Jesus fucking Christ now even using common Holla Forums memes makes you Zach?

My dude you are autistic as fuck

Yes, you now realize that Holla Forums is full of salty assholes.

There's a little circlejerk of autists trying to force this "zach" meme. Pay them no mind.

...

you can tell that someone who didnt live in the 80's made OPs image. the memphis style was 80's. fucking plebs

Yep.

if it had more neon then i could let it pass. neo-memphis in the 90's was much more neon.

You saw a lot less of the zig-zag lines and tiger stripes in the 90s, too.

I thought he was more of a neo-conservative?

It actually goes back further than that! Try 1923 with the founding of the Frankfurt School in Weimar Germany.

Squiggly ass lines.
