there's another way to play the game? I had no idea. I personally love the game, teh shooting is great, the voice acting is pretty funny and all the monsters are grotesque as fuck.

Shame about the sequel apparently being dogshit.

It's pretty gud. The only thing i don't like is leveling your perks takes too long.

I found a way to cheap out the healing class, you just play objective mode and there is a npc in steamland that loses hp every second. You can heal him and level up. Also if you choose not to kill every remaining zed you can let them chop him to bits as you heal so his hp drops faster.

KF1 is a godlike co-op game. KF2 should've been great but was fucked by Early Access and shit devs.

I played KF long ago so it might not work anymore but I'm sure I just cheated for perks using SAM

The dev team took A FUCKING YEAR to add the marksmen class, and they released it like it was a gift from the gods or some shit, even though it's a default class in KF1.

Most of the perks are easy to level, but commando is a pain in the ass no matter what. It's the only perk with no crowd control and a lack of high single target damage.

The devs are massive fucking douchebags, John is especially cancerous and should be put 6 feet in the ground. He's the kind of guy who would steal your work, profit off it, claim the credit, act like he's such a generous dev, and silence anyone who ever dared to say anything against that or even ask questions.

KF2-wise, they gave zeds massive resistances to the most retarded of things (stalkers get shotgun resistance? crawlers get fire resistance? fucking WHY) they release a microtransaction market in a PARTIALLY FINISHED EARLY ACCESS GAME, and took ages upon ages to finish releasing the last class or two that was missing. Anytime anyone would ask "yo it's been months what the fuck is the holdup, I know development takes time but there are indie devs half your size doing twice as much in the same span of time" and they would either give radio silence, write this massive walls of text about "game design and production" and how it all works while their beta orbiters thank them for such a grand explanation that doesn't answer the question, or just outright say "whenever we're done with it :3".

Oh, did I mention that when they finally released the full game, they were selling it for LESS than the early access price? Tripwire are massive jews, and not only is John one of the biggest assholes on the planet, but he has a raging hardon for the SJW progressive agenda and makes sure everyone knows it. If you don't agree with that, you're off the dev team, he does anything to shut down anyone who doesn't let him say or do whatever the fuck he wants.

It's pretty active, actually. Not as active as it was before KF2, but there's a decent selection of servers that aren't filled with custom garbage.

I forgot how much Killing Floor stuff I had saved.

First game's great fun, being able to weld doors shut and set traps gives it a great mini-strategy element to what would otherwise be waves-a'-zombies. Only complaint is that the perks are hilariously grindy or obtuse, especially for Commando where you can only get points towards your total by killing certain zed types. There's also the faggoty DLC weapons, but almost all of them are just gold-plated versions of the normal weapons and the ones that aren't aren't very fun anyways.

I just used Cheat Engine to bump up my kill-counts/headshot counts with perks so it'd level up.

Original KF is great. It's actually hard, and has a high skill ceiling. You have to plan with your teammates, and know the guns that you're using. it takes a bit to get into, but is definitely worth playing.
As for KF2, give it time. They might make it good eventually, but right now it could do with a bit more polish. Personally I'm of the opinion that if a game costs money it shouldn't have microtransactions, but if you don't feel that way pirate it and see for yourself.

im being sincere. i think the game is alright, even an improvement in most ways, that the anons bashing it are talking out their ass based on Holla Forums hearsay, further based on misinterpreted versus mode patch notes.

It's not a terrible game, but hardly superior. Zerker is the only really fun perk to play as. Anything else without a movement speed buff is just fucking annoying, seeing how the game revolves around kiting an arena area and either punishes you or just straight up does not allow you to do the traditional campy lane stuff like in 1.
It's just so god damn frustrating to know of all this lost potential. It could have been so much more.

KF2 they made the zombies on hard have the same hp as the zombies on HoE

I used to play the shit out of KF back in the day, but now I can't play for more than 5 minutes without remembering why I stopped playing in the first place, it's almost always horde survival, and after a while, it just gets repetitive and formulaic.

I vaguely remember damage bonus from headshots not being accounted for when calculating perk progress. At least my progress seemed to go faster when I just fanned at zed's bodies with an ak.

It's an option in KF1, which I appreciate. Camp or kite, they're both good strategies. In KF2 though it seems like they've tried their hardest to keep it impossible with the chosen level design and zed movement. Even the best camp lanes in KF2 have these fucking vents above or behind you where trash drops out of to nag you out of doing well.

i used custom maps with long straightaways and multiple clear fallback positions mostly made possible by abusing spawn mechanics (if you know where every zed will spawn you can sometimes find sweet spots that prevent zeds from spawning behind you)

the doom map and that one square castle map where you fight up on the walls are great for leveling sharpshooter and demolitions solo

KF2 is perfectly fine nowdays (though Firebug is still shit, I hate firebug though so fuck 'em)
Most of the major issues (zed teleporting, bullet spongeyness, permanently breakable doors, etc.) have been fixed, but the game was in fact in an absolutely putrid state a while back so you get anons like pointing out issues that did make the game shit but don't exist anymore.
Doors have weld strength and HP; anyone can weld a door, but not the HP. Once the door takes enough damage (which is represented on the model) it shatters, removing it whether it was welded or not.

Support specialists can (as of several months ago) repair door HP and even restore shattered doors with their perk-specific welder.


Every game has pretty much the same shit in their EULA, Tripwire's CEO just worded it in an especially faggy way to virtue signal and (rightfully) caused backlash. As far as I know they still have yet to take action against anybody with that shit clause, and with how rocky the Early Access period was I doubt they have the balls to do it now.

I don't think Support can repair door HP. It can repair them like you said though. Welding has become much more useless in KF2, utility is very circumstantial even with a Demopan that remember that his class can make door traps.

Even though they have the same premise I find KF1&2 are different enough on a lot of small/important gameplay related stuff (and even the aesthetic as grindhouse horror was replaced with futuristic shit) that you can get a different kind of enjoyment from both. All jewry and terrible character design aside of course. Both games being different may be a good thing for some people and a bad for others, personally I enjoy both but I still find that KF quickly became a classic while KF2 right now sits between good and pretty good. I don't think Tripwire could've been able to make a "true" sequel that did it justice so maybe they were right of trying to do something separate from its predecessor.

KF2 seems the superior game, but it lacks the charm of the original. Removing the gritty filter and letting you sprint ruined the spooky atmosphere

KF2 has better hitreg, hitboxes and better feedback when shooting shit. On the other hand the weapons feel like they have less weight to them. Still, I feel like like there's a lot of things gameplay and balance wise that are better in KF1 so it's the better game.

Also like that user said the futuristic aesthetic of the game is complete shit and I much preferred the gritty mood of the first game. It also had much better maps (though they came pretty late in the game's life cycle so maybe KF2 will have some too). I hope they're planning of doing something like Mountain Pass or something, it was refreshing to have some huge maps where you could lose yourself and it was difficult camping. Also encouraged moving spots during waves since otherwise you wouldn't be able to get to the trader in time.

There are whitelisted leveling maps on the workshop now.
I got all to 6 in one of those the other day, after 5 years and 150ish hours of mostly topping the scoreboard. Before that I had medic at 5 and the rest at 4 except berserker (because worst perk) and commando. And even using the leveling maps it took me another hour and a half. Fuck the stalker requirement, holy shit.

Yeah I agree, KF2 has issues but the hitboxes and hit registration was vastly improved. There's still some fuckery going on sometimes for melee but considering some games built around melee combat still can't get everything right I guess there's only so much you can do while focusing on guns at the same time.

It's a great game, unlike the piece of shit that KF2 is.

Also stop playing the fucking Doom map. And westlondon. There are other maps. Don't just play those two maps forever. The Doom one in particular gets boring fast.

Never understood why so many servers were just running the base rotation (London, Biotics, Manor, Farm etc.) when later updates added so many great maps. Sure, some were hit and miss like the one on the Tanker but most of them were bigger, nicer looking and with better spawn points. Yet people kept voting for fucking WestLondon and Farm over and over.

I didn't even remember this happening. Considering the abysmal level of pubs in KF1 I'm not surprised they removed that feature. Wot a shame.

Both games are charming in their own unique way. KF2 trumps KF1 solely on realism and gameplay. KF1 has too much character compared to kf2, but thats a sacrifice for realism and immersion.

They're just different games. I enjoy KF2 more simply because its more challenging than kf1.
