Thread theme

Is piracy even a thing on smartphones ?

Nintencucks will justify this somehow.

Yeah, especially on android when 99% of the time, you can just download an APK online and call it a day

This will be circumvented on Android via root access much akin to Pokémon Go. Dev community will simply tear down the apk and find the appropriate exploit.

It's just a matter of when.

To me the appeal of mobile games is that I have games available in my pocket anywhere I go, and this should include places with no internet connection available.

(checked)
So it's a mobile game that can't even be played on the go without a constant internet connection?

TOP KEK

b-but muh based nintendo
zelda skyrim edition will have better fps!!

it sucks because anyone stupid enough to ever buy this shit in the first place probably isn't going to care. you can emulate Mario 3 for infinite more enjoyment and it's less of a pain in the ass to get working I bet.

...

Mobile users are complete faggots anyway, they can stuff it full with microtransactions and make it pay to win and they would gobble it up.

Mobile is the future of gaming.

Who gives a shit?
WHO GIVES A SHIT?

Consider suicide

In the same way that handhelds killed home devices and laptops killed desktops, right?

Isnt it Free to play? What da fug?

I'm just gonna take a whack and say they're attempting to prevent people from freely accessing microtransaction-gated content.

Oh my sweet summer child

Aren't all the top grossing phone "games" online anyway? I'm not saying it's a good decision but I don't think it's a decision that will hinder the success of the game either.

There aren't any micro-transactions.

Free to try, pay whole 10 dollarydoos to get the "whole game" for now.

There is something odd about this.

You know it's true whether you want to admit it or not.

So it'll take the pirates a few extra minutes to crack. In exchange, the game breaks when Nintendo's servers can't be accessed, including when the servers inevitably shut down for good.
After a few years, the people who paid for content will have nothing, and the people who paid nothing will still have the content.

Agreed. Big MMO gook publishers moved to it with the japs and westerners make them too.

oh

Until they give you physical inputs its not going anywhere.
Until they give you a way of playing on a big screen it aint going anywhere
Only whales pay for shit and when the bubble bursts its going to shit.
The only thing its killing is handhelds due to obvious reasons.

And its all low quality shit, most of it free for third world shitters.

Are you just an idiot or do you enjoy sticking your head in the sand?

sand is pretty comfy and good for your pores.

So is ignorance. :^)

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

The average normalfag sees a console and a computer as a must need household item/luxury and there are just as many normalfags playing ASSFAGGOTS and F2P games on dedicated platforms right now.
While the average normalfag is braindead they still have enough gray matter to understand and feel what a physical input is.

Now go cheat on a game so you get arrested you fucking gook.

...

Check em'

For some reason there are faggots here who still support nintendo, it is for that reason alone we need to have a thread every single time nintendo takes another shit on their consumer base.

You will never stop the Pokefags no matter how hard you try.
They will drone incessently no matter how many facts you throw at their face, much like liberals.

Is it really shocking? You will get banned here for an hour if you talk too much shit about nintendo. Too short to give a shit but long enough to silence dissent.

Nintendrone here, I've bought every Nintendo console since I was five.

Was Nintendo not watching when Sim City 2013 hit the market?
Was Nintendo not watching when the Xbox One was announced?
Did Nintendo never see what it was that made the PS4 sell?

I won't buy this mobile online DRM shit, and if Switch has always-online DRM I won't buy it, either.
I'm already seriously questioning whether to grab a Switch at all because they're porting every other game that was on WiiU to Switch, calling it a new game, and selling it at the exact same price to everyone, with not even a discount to WiiU owners.
Even with Splatoon, the player Octoling is in the WiiU data, but I'm sure if I want to play as it I'll have to buy the Switch version.
If all of that isn't a fucking slap to the face, I don't know what is.

There's a point where even the Nintendrones won't put up with this shit anymore.

Laptops did kill desktops. Autists like us are the only people who still have them.

...

Oh sorry this is the mobile market where all the highest grossing games require an online connection to play, casuals don't care and the real issue here is charging $10 in a market full of games you can get for free and can play forever.

Did they announce the prices?
Did they actually rename the games and call them completely new entries?
Or are you just full of shit?

I think I know what one of these is a yes.

but I have a goyPhone
;_;

But you can't get a fraction of power with a laptop that you could with a desktop.

They haven't announced prices, but if you think they're going to sell the Switch version of Breath of the Wild for any less than they sell a WiiU game at, you're out of your mind.

The exact names of Switch titles haven't been given, but it's obvious if you just look at the footage they've shown, they're just porting their WiiU software, tacking on a few characters/features, and calling them a new game (see pic related).
Yeah, sure, there's the new Mario, but even with that, the graphics are a perfect mirror-match of Super Mario 3D World, and you know it.

Now you tell me who's full of shit?

Pokeniggers are the best goys of all time.

Why would they sell the Switch release of Breath of the Wild for less when it's a simultaneous release on both systems?

Yeah everything points to a remaster of Mario Kart 8 on Switch with new content, when did I deny that, but you're the one claiming they are just going to call it a whole new Mario Kart game and sell it for full price, prove it or fuck off

Apart from the fact that it isn't.

I don't understand Nintendo's approach with the Switch quite yet. It seems that they are making a pretty hard attempt to market towards casuals like they did 10 years ago as opposed to the Wii U. But the game quality appears to market towards the "hardcore" Nintendo audience.

The new Mario, from what we've seen seems to be a return to actual 3D platforming like 64 and Sunshine. As evidenced by the camera angle and the geometry we're seeing in that screenshot. And BoTW seems to be marketing towards Zelda veterans who want something new for the series but also a return to its roots.

Could this be the "Classic Nintendo" compromise? Where they make games that are casual as fuck but can still be enjoyed by everyone, like Super Metroid?

...

You can see for the Switch edition of Mario Kart, you can now hold two items at once. This was not present in Mario Kart 8.
If you can name me one instance in Mario Kart's history where they made a change to the game mechanics like that and didn't call it a new Mario Kart, then I'll gladly fuck off.
But you can't, because that would be unprecedented in the series' entire history.

And, of course, if they present it as a new Mario Kart, they'll sell it at the price of a new one, too.

And yeah, comparing Super Mario 3D World's water stage to a desert one in the Switch title sure seems like a fair comparison.

Clearly there's new content, given the buildings you can see in the Switch footage, but you can also see the volumetric dust particles, which is ripped straight from 3D World, no other Mario game used those up to this point, I don't think.
It's the same tech, a ported version of the exact same engine from the WiiU. The gameplay is different, but the graphics are very similar. Different textures, same shading.

Just how the Switch version of Splatoon will almost certainly be different given you won't have an extra screen to dedicate to a map, but will also most likely be a port of WiiU Splatoon with some new content tacked on. Say, for example, playable Octolings…Except that's in the data for the WiiU verison…You just can't actually see/use the data in-game anywhere…

...

Screen images simulated, dumbasses.

KILL YOURSELF CODY

Nah, eat a dick

Enjoy being buttfucked

I'm telling /k/.

The mobile market is a dog eat dog king of the hill style competition between publishers, only about 10 or so companies will thrive while the rest will get scraps that's not even worth the effort. Getting big vidya gaem brands into the market is a matter of marketing the hottest skin for what is otherwise a gambling game, a skinner box, or a complete time waster like fucking pong or solitaire, and finally some cheap and simple game to play. Since those are the types of games people actually want on the go. Mobile isn't going to dominate the gaming industry like gullible idiots like you prophecize.

Splatoon on the Switch has new weapon models for even the basic stuff like the Splattershot, it's a new game. I didn't see any reused assets in the trailer. It might have some maps returning from the original, but it'll be majority new content.

When will this always-online shit die already?

Quick question. Just how much porn has been made of that dinosaur in the first pic?

But that doesn't negate my point, you can't actually prove that they are reselling it as a new entry at full price so why haven't you fucked off yet? even semi reliable rumours point to the game just being an upgraded remaster and be sold as such.

In the Switch screenshots Mario is shaded differently, it's more akin to the faux PBR of Mario Kart 8 then it is to the stylized lighting of Super Mario 3d World.

Don't make shit up that doesn't mean anything,
prove they are the exact same or fuck off. It's common to hav

It's not an unfair comparison, I was using it to highlight the very stylized lighting that is at the core of Super Mario 3d world

Is the new Splatoon a remaster or is it a new game? you want to claim it's a remaster being sold as a new game so prove it.

In the future try to not make completely baseless claims when you have no proof, at least have the fucking decency to say "i suspect" or "maybe x will", instead of trying to say that these are things that are happening and we should all lose our collective shit, people like you are the reason why we can't have good discussions anymore.

It's name is Plessie, you can go find out for yourself, I'm not a degenerate.

That's absolutely fucking retarded. Nintendo really do have no business on mobiles it seems.

Well I certainly see myself not running this on my phone any time soon.

You realize most people on this board can point you out of individual threads and that most people think you're a retard, right? You gonna spam this thread until you hit (50) in hopes of somehow stopping discussion?

You realize both of you are stupid considering the Switch trailer "games" are just bullshots and aren't actual games, right?

Are you being retarded on purpose or what? Most mobile phone games require some sort of online connection, especially the F2P ones.

...

Online-only is the norm for mobile games and not the exception? Just what I needed, yet another reason for me to stay the fuck away from mobile gaming.

The visuals are believable, and Super Mario Switch is supposed to have been showable at E3 2016, I don't see why Nintendo would need to make bullshots when they can just show the game running on current hardware, all the other games looked like they were running on what we suspect the hardware to be.

How fucking new are you to not realize this? Are you just posting so everybody can see how much you dislike mobile games or something? It's not a competition to dislike something the most here, user.

If they weren't bullshots they would have announced actual titles for the system, instead of leaving investors and potential customers wondering what is going to be at launch or near launch. Not to mention the "game" footage was added in post-production and that Skyrim and NBA 2K footage was misleading because both developers of said games said they had no plans to port those games to the Switch yet. They should have at least said "we are developing a new untitled Mario and Splatoon for the Switch" at the end of the announcement trailer or something.

I don't even care enough about mobile games to dislike them in the first place.

I asserted they are going to sell Mario Kart on Switch as a new game at full price, and I backed my assertion with evidence (the change to the game mechanics they've clearly made, allowing racers to store an extra item).
You assert that the Mario Kart on Switch will be a remaster, and your evidence is…the rumor mill.

Remind me who is making baseless assertions, again?

As far as the dust particles go: up until 3D World they just used billboard textures for dust. Just because you don't understand 3D tech doesn't mean I'm making things up.

Very little of Splatoon was shown, the graphics look new, but the question here really is: why would I want to pay another $60 + the price of a Switch for a game I just bought in 2014 (~3 years ago)? Even if the graphics are updated, I just can't see them bringing too much new to the table.
MK8 also came out in 2014- why would I want to pay $120 + the price of a Switch for two games I just bought in 2014?

There's a reason the games for Switch are a new Mario, Zelda, Mario Kart, and Splatoon, and that's because they're all titles that just released on WiiU entries in the past 2-3 years (or, in the case of Zelda, will release on WiiU next year).
They haven't had enough time to make very much new tech and content for Switch, so they've mostly taken WiiU content and tried to rehash it so they can sell it as new games for Switch.

That's just the truth, and it's simply a matter of how much time it will take you to release it.
I'll see you in January.

Yeah, the footage is edited in, so it might be footage running on development hardware that has higher specs than the Switch has. But those pretty much have to be in-development games, or else they're going to get sued to death for false advertising later (maybe the Splatoon shot was a CG sequence but there's really not enough of Splatoon shown to say either way).

Now you're being dishonest.

Yes, I pirated a music app because it's the best one out there, but I ain't paying $20 for 1kb of data and one line of code.

What? You dont have internet? Poorfag

Nigger that's not what they said at all. They said they have nothing to announce. The exact same thing SE was forced to say when the slipped and said that a new Dragon Quest was coming to NX and they had to backtrack because Nintendo has everyone under NDA. If you honestly think Nintendo just fucking stole Skyrim footage and put it in their announcement trailer when the game isn't coming to the console you are literally retarded. Did you miss the bit where some indie got sent a C&D for using the word "Doom" in a rogue-like fan-game? Do you not think Bethesda might also have some nasty words to say about Nintendo if Skyrim was not going to be on Switch? JFC it's like people are deliberately retarded.
As to your other points, game footage is always added post-production because cameras are shit at picking up images from other displays, and Nintendo dicking potential customers and investors with last-minute shenangians is their entire business model. They sure as fuck did it to Sony to spawn the Playstation behemoth, they did it before with the Donkey Kong console licence pre-NES, and they'll do it again. Go back to class and just fucking lurk moar, you summer refugee faggot.

As soon as you fucking pirates stop stealing everything.

Here, as consolidation you can gaze upon on of my luxuriously rare Pepes, just promise not to steal it.

...

That's exactly how Sonic Runners was, I'm not at all surprised. Though I honestly forgot they were even making this because nobody talked about it at all after the announcement.

There were at least a dozen "NINTENDO IS DEAD" threads here.

They only said they had nothing to announce at this time. I'm sure Nintendo would have no problems securing actual games coming to the Switch.

You still haven't negated my point, my point was that you claimed that as a fact that the Mario Kart on the switch is a port that will be released as a full priced title and as a new entry on the Switch, something that needs hard facts like official word from Nintendo that it is as such, which you can't provide therefore I am still correct. Even then the addition of being able to hold 2 items isn't good logic that it's a new game, I'd say you're going to have to try harder, but you can't actually prove that it's a new game so I don't see why you'd try and push forward that it is in fact a new game.

you are making things up, those are 2d clouds with a per pixel lighting to make them appear 3d and shaded correctly depending on the light source. the easy giveaway is that their silhouette is too perfect to make them an actual mesh, especially when you can achieve an identical string of clouds for nowhere near the performance hit.

It isn't, your logic is dubious at best, it appears to be a minor balance change if anything, when we can see a larger mechanical gimmick I'd probably sway your way but until then.

The image provided shows the effect perfectly, in spite of being lumpy the cloud flatly clips with the ground, if it was 3d the clouds wouldn't clip flat like they are.

I didn't refute your last 2 paragraphs because you didn't make a relative point.

No, it isn't, I'd say try again but you've just wasted my time by not actually proving anything and using dubious logic at best.

Oh no I fucked up, 2 paragraphs are out of order, I don't care if you can tell me which ones though.

When it was first announced? Absolutely, everyone was sperging hard. More than a week later? Not that I remember seeing, but I try to stay away from doomsaying threads these days unless they have to do with censorship.

Mario Kart is probably just going to be released as a deluxe edition. I'm sure it's still going to be full-price, but it'll probably be MK8 + DLC and maybe they'll add another two cups.
It's not like they said Pikmin 1 and 2 were new games when they got ported to wii, they just hit 'em up with NEW PLAY CONTROL

EVEN THE CASUALS GET FUCKED

This thread needs more Mark.
