Denuvo stopped me from buying Planet Coaster and would've stopped me from getting MGSV if I had known about what it does to SSDs. UPlay is too much of a pain to register, GFWL is what keeps me from finishing GTA IV and Episodes, and Denuvo literally shortens the life of your SSD. That's what you get for buying games and being a boy scout, they'll shit all over your expensive PC.

Because of Denuvo, I'm going back to playing games on consoles. Doing that also opens the door for me to finally use only GNU/Linux on my next PC, because without games, Windows is nothing.

not one dev or publisher is required to use the steamworks drm to put their game on the steam platform. A large number of steam games you can play without logging into steam. The ones you can't? Bring it up with the publishers, steam has nothing to do with their choice to use drm.

I can play HL2 offline just fine Steam-free. Hell, I got it for free because it's a base game for Ep 2, and I only actually own Ep 2 after being gifted it by a buddy. Steam DRM is the easiest shit to crack on the face of the planet and barely even counts when most anything you want works outside of the steamapps folders either already good-to-go or with a quick .dll change.

DRM is never ok when anyone does it. It's an anti customer practice that only exists to restrict the user. It doesn't improve the function of the product. It doesn't provide vital libraries for the game to run. Every game is made and functions without DRM before it's added on at the end.
