This is a dinosaur games thread. I just finished Dino Crisis for the first time and really enjoyed it, I hated how easy they made 2 and how they made Regina a smarmy cunt

Snek/Scaley fetishists start shitting up the thread in 3…2…

Why isn't there a game where you properly hunt dinosaurs? Turok was pretty great but the idea of hunting dinosaurs, as depicted in the fucking subtitle "Dinosaur Hunter", wasn't really part of the game. You could *kill* dinosaurs, but you couldn't really hunt them. You wouldn't track them, set snares for them at watering holes or feeding points, poison them with bait, plunge a shark-tooth spear between their ribs while they were sleeping, etc. I want a proper open world survival dinosaur hunting game. Low-tech. Iron-age alternate history at best. And no, monster hunter doesn't count. Fucking animu bullshit…

...

Turok is always fun

Ark if you hate yourself

Great fucking taste
Also a reminder that the faggot who say that there are no good Dinossaurs games are all fucking casuals that only play AAA garbage.

Jurassic Park: Survivor was ahead of its time in many ways, but something about the controls was just complete horseshit.

...

Ark is alright though if you're not playing on official servers

its only 90 megs, you can play it on anything

I wish the game had more mods

yeah your right lol
i typed in spinosaurus carnivores on google
the roar they gave the ceratosaurus was terrifying

Pretty fitting considering hes the hardest dinossaur to kill
Trex is bullshit and once you get the Sniper you're set

i never managed to get a t-rex. it was a shot to the eyeball right?
i killed 2 ceratosaurus, using the shotgun so just get good

Yes
Due to how fast the dino is and how many hits it takes to take him down he is the most difficult dino.
I never said that makes the game difficult or that I had difficulty on killing them.
I was merely stating a fact

you are the first person ive talked to who has played this. did you ever have any luck with the xbox? when i had the game in 2000 i could nail dinos but i can't anymore
one of the cerato was a literal babby so it took 2 shots

shit i meant xbow

No, I just grind with pistol
These kind of deals were the norm back in 2014, now all the cuckchan scum wants to talk about AAA garbage and weebshit while most vets have left.
I'm glad I've had a least one of these after all this time.

I even posted with someone who had played Hype The Time Quest.

I think it look like 12 shots on average to pistol a stego
I haven't played either of those games lol

I feel old

And its much more manageable considering the fucking fire rate
Xbow doesn't even have recoil animation, its just really unsatisfying to use besides being pretty shite

It may be easier, but it does not detract from the fun.
shit taste tbh

Not much discussion to be had. Although I have to say some of the most fun I've had is playing on the island map, putting on debug mode (to jump around very high and move quickly, as well for unlimted ammo), pissing off all the t-rexs on the map, then trying to take them out with a pistol.

who Carnivores Ice Age here

its more of a ballista than a crossbow. i found the firing sound pretty satisfying

No denying that
Best maps by far, the amount of detail added is fucking great

...

Hows Hunter Reborn?

I'd like to know as well if anyone owns it

...

Thinking of giving it a pirate

sarcasm isn't wits, it's being an asshole

bampu

I disagree.
>promises to come back for you at the end of the game
If only there was another sequel. Then again, I can't trust capcom to replicate such a good character again.
Is there any news in recent times about dino crisis? I gave up hope long ago, it's better that it fades into obscurity.

She's gonna be in MvC 4 :^)

There's Dino Stalker in case you want to check how the timeline hijinks are fixed. it's an on-rails shooter, part of the RE: Survivor series.

Here's hoping that the RE2 remake breaks all records and hopefully it helps bring a good DC game back on track.

Too bad the first game was terrible because the fucking dinosaurs respawn the second you leave the room so fighting is always pointless unless you're fighting a boss or need to do a puzzle in that room.

Funny joke user.

I already played it to completion multiple times. Pretty good, no Regina action but not a bad game.

They shouldn't respawn if you actually kill them, user. That's the second game where they respawn.

No they don't

No they respawn in the first game and it makes all combat pointless.

Having to actually manage your resources was one of the best things about the first game. For all that people say the same about RE games, I always finish those with ammo pouring out my ears, even on a first playthrough. Dino Crisis actually made me tense from the balance between conserving resources and deciding whether to just run past certain dinosaurs, since some them will follow you to other rooms.
Dinos >>> zombies.
I could never finish the second game, I always got bored of the dino shooting gallery too fast.

You know this is true user! look at Mega Man Ecks!

I love you dino bro. I also love Dino Crisis 1. I hate the changes that DC2 introduced.

It has its flaws, but I love both games and they're true Dino Crisis titles unlike 3.
Tense as shit, very low ammo amounts/capacity, lack of an explicit health indicator like RE's ECG, limited supply slots to juggle between ammo, meds, darts (on the upside key items don't take supply slots)
Puzzles everywhere, some boring, some neat (had a lot of fun with the DDKs the first time I played it back when I was a kid)
Multiple endings/scenarios through decision making
Mixing system and dem darts
T-Rex showdowns were full adrenaline, especially since he can instakill you
Great realtime 3D environments coupled with dynamic camera movements (at times)

Arcade and gung-ho as fuck, ammo can be refilled and there's sub weapons to help when main ammo is low. Regular vitality meter, limited supply slots only for medicine
Almost no puzzles, they're all pretty simple in comparison to 1
Combo and counter systems, bonuses for no damage encourages improvement to get more extinction points
T-Rex isn't that much of a threat now, but for that there's the Giganotosaurus
Back to RE fixed pre-rendered backgrounds, but the models are pretty damn good - this has to be one of the nicest looking games in the PS1's later days

Also, both games have pretty neat soundtracks, but 2 stands out to me with its action themes and the awesome credits song.

DC3 on the other hand… fuck that.

I used to love DC2 as a kid too and in fact, it was the first Dino Crisis I played and I didn't even know there was another game until much later, but recently I replayed both of them one after the other, and it just kind of ruined DC2 for me.

I can understand the points you make about DC2, and it used to be fun for me, but in the recent playthrough I realized the combat is the only thing it has going for it and it gets old pretty fast, and coupled with the fact of how much I loved everything about DC1 (specially the story) and how everything was butchered for DC2, it kind of created contempt for DC2.

Also, I remember having a lot of controlling issues in DC2 in the higher difficulty setting, but maybe it was just me not being that good.

Remember Primal Rage?

We need a new one.

Speaking of Spinosaurus, you guys seen the updated version of the Spinosaurus compiled from discoveries made after Jurassic Park 3?

team based shooter / tfclone where nazis did nothing wrong obtain dinosaurs to get rid of americans

The spoilers made me think you were posting dinosaur porn.

I was rather disappointed as well, user

Now why would I post something like that?
