F3 "X-com" "Xcom" "X com"

Stories, discussion, mods, and snek welcome. I've been playing this mod called Xeno Operations for OpenXCOM, and it's fucking fantastic. Amazing sprite-work and technology and guns and everything. I'd recommend it to all of you. Problem is, It says it highly recommends the "TFTD manufacturing rules". How do I activate them? I know what they entail, but where can I download them?

Also, link to the mod.

Good man.

It's openxcom right, so why not just toggle them in the options menu?

Snek needs to leave

There are several, actually. But sneksteppers get jack shit from me.

Snek still a shit

That spritework is something else

Yes! We will foil the foolish Morganites air superiority via precision orbital drops on his needlecraft!
Brilliant work solider, report to base for immediate promotion and coke.

XCUM

dont tread on me

...

At least the mod team has their priorities straight in the current year.

WE WUZ SOLDIERS indeed.

The new ufos and aircraft look nice at least

...

when i get sad about white genocide i just remember that this is the kind of shit white people do

This is one of those few instances that remind me that no matter how desensitized I've gotten to shit over the years, there's always something out there that makes me regret living on this planet.

Yeah at least niggers and mudslimes don't record themselves fucking the animals. Likely because they don't have cameras but hey.

I'm pretty sure every race has degenerates. There is a reason Arabs get called goat fuckers.

I think there's levels of degeneracy when it comes to fucking animals. Putting your dick in a snake is on a whole other level compared to the rest.

A snake's a good deal cleaner than a goat or a camel.

Indeed. There's nothing wrong with dying your armpits cerulean blue and fucking a matching poodle.
Doubly so if there's a hamster up your arse.

...

Anyways, so which one do you fags prefer? The original X-COM, or Terror From the Deep?

That option isn't in my options menu, for some reason. Can you check for me if you have it?

I wonder where these people were back in 2006
did they just space out the memories or what

the one with snake tits

Someone make monster girl xcom immediately
Call it like mcom or something

Accept snekposting user, it is the only way to remain sane. I like the enemies in TFTD more

How the fuck am I supposed to be you, faggot.

Make it about hunting down furries. Terror missions are about assaulting furry conventions, and you need to root out their bases of operations.

Why hasn't anyone made a mod about shoahing furries?

TFTD is better in pretty much every way, but every fucking mission seems to end with me spending 20 turns looking for the last ayy. I guess they changed the AI or something but it gets really boring.

You deserved it, you gigantic faggot. You're worse than the snekfags.

Seconded

Nothing wrong with snek, and I used that in this context in case people are to dumb to look at ID.

Shit taste. Still belongs in oven.

It's like you don't understand why people hate furries. Here's a hint: it's not becuase they jerk off to anthro porn.

>>>/bog/

That's why monsterfags get the same treatment. The fact they're all drama and roleplay makes them almost as bad. Unacceptable.

Funny, it really is missing from the latest nightly. Maybe the integrated it completely?

I'd too would say TFTD but those lobsterman cruise ships come to mind

Amen.

Actually, it's because a few guys from SA had a problem with them back in '04 and wrote a bunch of pastas, but let's just ignore that.

Did they? If so, what are the rules exactly? You can produce more then one item per hour, is it?

No. Furfags have been an issue since the Romans crossed the Tiber. Goddamn Germanics.

Also, some shots to shill for Xeno Operatives. It's such a good mod.

There is literally nothing wrong with genetically modified cat girls for domestic ownership.

BUT WHO WILL BUILD THE ROADS

t. ufopaedia.org/index.php/Differences_to_X-COM_(OpenXcom)
Not sure how up to date it is.

...

Damnation. No Salvation.

I'm just wondering if you can produce more then one item per hour. I set up 3 huge bases just producing Manufacturing Contracts (It's a thing in Xeno Ops that is free and easy to do, giving you 30k each time one is produced) and I realized I wasn't making as many shekels I realized. Might just be my imagination though.

...

Seems to be kind of dead, with the mod author gone off to shit out his book or whatever. Hasn't been updated since January.

That's a good question but do you mean 1i/1h per base, per workshop or on a global scale? Also, are you absolutely sure they're free?

Pretty sure that is what's referred to by those rules. I also remember it being in the options menu, but I just checked and I can't see it either. Wierd.

Nah, it's been updated last June, I believe. Still yeah, he left, but'll be back soon. His pixel-art is just incredible though. Wish I took some screenshots of an Alien base-raid, the art was wonderful. He also seemed to have imported some of the terror tilesets from TFTD into the game (the industrial one, thank God it's not the shipping line)

Do you remember the Tentaculats on base raids? In the commander room, how they come from those small sockets in the wall? That is real horror.

Nah man. I have like, 200 engineers pumping them out across all bases. And yes, they are 100% free to produce.

...

How feature complete is the mod anyway?

I only really have one good one. And I'm sure you all have your own version of it.
I can't quite remember how it went, unfortunately. So it may be a little embellished and incorrect.

>he tanks the hit like a fucker and on his turn turns a sectoid into a green smear
>send him south looking for a medkit
>he gets hit again but is still standing despite being in a jumpsuit
>he drops his second sectoid of the day
>waste a few turns fiddling with a medkit, unable to heal himself while he is bleeding to death
>decide that the mission isnt over until every ayy is on the fucking ground
>go on to eliminate 2-3 more ayys (that miraculously missed every shot)
>its over
>he won

It's in beta, but it goes all the way to the end of the game. The only issue really, is that I want more stuff. More tiles, more ufos, more aliens, more things to research and more loot. Also, the only actual problem is some Aliens are extremely unbalanced. That Muton warlord I pictured? Took 20 stun batons to the face in order to bring down.

Faithless heathens.

Sounds pretty cool. Will definitely give it a try.

...

You know what he meant. You can obviously capture UFOs in the atmosphere already.

Turn based a shit

>>>/4chan/

Apocalypse was suprisingly great. Also, checked. I just wish they where able to deliver on there whole deep cyber-punk politics and shadow-runners thing they where planning.

GAS THE LUNARIANS
MOON WAR NOW

Anyone play xpirates? I'm having fun with it though it can be a pain in the ass sometimes.

...

...

Xenonauts CE is better.

how terrifying

I recently picked up Enemy Within and this was my experience.

I know something like this has probably been done but here's my shitty take on it anyways

I love it when a plan comes together.

Nu-Com is "LOL THATS XCOM BABY XD"
And Nu-Com 2 is even worse because the devs hate people who try to avoid rolling dice every fucking round, i.e. playing smart.

You can't even play smart in XCOM since there's really only one way to play. Slowly inch your squad forward until you trigger the ayy spawn and then overwatch.

Instead of trying to fix this and add some semblance of strategy to the game Firaxis just put a shitty timer on top and called it a day.

Meh. Nu-Com are very fun but at the same time very flawed games. Although i don´t think that the devs hate people who don´t want to roll the dice, considering how fucking overpowerd rocketeers and grenadiers are in these games. The biggest issue Nu-Com has is the fucked up balancing. The first few missions are incredible hard because of a lack of soldiers and tactical options, but after that you can just steamroll through the game. At least Firaxis actually tried to solve a lot of problems with XCOM2. I went back to XCOM: Enemy within a few days ago and goddam was it annoying to have no sequencial overwatch and no line of sight indicator.

For XCOM3 i wish they would expand on the base building, the tech tree and the amount of soldiers you can have in a fight. Also they should fix this goddamn difficulty curve. I guess, it has a certain charme to fight your way out with your claw and teeth in the beginnin of every game, while absolutey destroying everything in lategame, but sometimes i just want a linear difficulty curve, that actually makes sense.

If they add the airgame to it I hope they figure out a way to not just make it as boring as it was in vanilla XCOM. Long war expanded the choices but it still wasn't that interesting

Do what Xenonauts did. Also, make pilots gain experience same as soldiers and introduce a more robust interceptor customization system.

Why would you have any hope for X-com 3
The devs have shown themselves to be unbearable faggots.

Screencap or it didn't happen.

Mostly Terror from the Deep, for melee weapons among others. But seeing grenades thrown underwater triggers my autism.

I prefer the green background. Red reminds me of redtext, and obnoxious fags that use it.

TOUGH.
>>>/out/

Like bananas?

Thanks for live demonstration.

FLOOD MORE
you're welcome

I've always wondered, why roided up mutant females in XPiratez?
I'm not complaining or anything, I was always just curious about that choice.

It's clear it's the author's fetish. The greater crime is that you can't fuck you harem of space pirate amazons.

It's one half of my fetish too so I can see where the author is coming from.

...

Fine.

Because its metal as fuck.

It's not even the same systems, it's LESS tiers now.

Come on be honest, how many underage people do you think have even played nu-com?

Problem is that white degenerates can afford cameras, unlike the others.

...

>It's a boy

Now mine's interested, thanks

If you are looking for a mysterious spooky crime story with top tier waifu #1, this is it. G-senjou No Maou, if you didn't find the name.

PS: You can't fuck the guy

Speaking of Xenonauts. What do you guys think it did well and on the other hand, what things did it do wrong?

To be honest, the best part about that game was the whole spin to UFO interception, instead of it being a range-off like how it was in, well, all the X-com's. I also had to much fun with the shields, forming practically a Roman Testudo. Otherwise, that's really it. Pretty average game, in my opinion.

Which is best alien interrogation
Which is best alien autopsy

Xenonaut's interrogation is a feast and I love every single one of those, but the part where the chief RnD invented xeno language from mere ayylmao brain pulses using 80's equipment really turned me on.

You got more screenshots of the alien autopsies and interrogations from that game? Also, I remember that scientist being the smuggest cunt in existence.

You have to do it the modern way:

X

COM

do we get sneks on the team? I need muh Mia.

best girl

I'd rather have the monster girls be the antagonists a la Monster Girl Quest

...

...

...

I suspect Androns are an entire sentient race that joined the ayys when they invaded their world.

How much sense would an entire race made of machines sound?

Post more, please.

...

...

Pretty optimistic for Xenonauts 2 tbh fam

explain

Sequel is in the production

There is a free playtest demo right now showing combat and basics
gog.com/game/xenonauts_2_demo

Thanks mang.

What's the best XCOM and why is it XCOM 2?

Xenonauts its the best xcom game

It's only fun if you enjoy blowing shit up and modding to ridiculous levels. Kind of like a Bethesda game. Until an expansion comes out it's the worst.

nexusmods.com/xenonauts/mods/8/?

More research and lores added.

Its good mod but a little to big for xenonauts engine i think

Also hunting for alien specialists is boring and tiring as fuck

It looks cool I might restart a game just for these

It is pretty cool
But get preppered for frustrating hunt after alien specialists and bugs, also overcrowded UI

What are alien specialists

Shit man, I need that shit. I'll live through it.

Special aliens that you have to capture alive to progress tech

...

Oh what the fuck
Is that like Origin-lite or something

It's GOG's """optional""" game client that is required for some of the multiplayer games, and evidently, fucking free demos.

Despite all the pros and cons of the new XCOM games I feel like Michael McCann fucking nailed it twice on the soundtracks. Especially the first one.

Is there even any game with a better "get ready and get hyped" theme than nuXCOM with its deployment screen?

Was one set of quotes not enough for you or did you just fail at formatting?

steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=809184867
Hi guiz I just mad dis kewl voice mod of misef i hop u lik it.
Holy shit this is some kind of abstract autism.

there's a special place in hell for heretics like you

Going to play new update of xpiratez, but the weapons stats always fuck me. Is there a pastebin floating aroundwith the stats? its a pain in the ass to keep switching back and forth to the weapons screen. Theres a ton of new missions too that I noticed, which rocks because slogging through the same shit all of the time was annoying

...

Original.
LOL

So has anyone played Xenonauts 2 demo? I haven't bothered with GoGalaxy yet.

It's very WIP. Not really worth bothering with yet. Wait till they get the Geoscape included at least.

i hope OpenApoc has some good graphical overhaul, the art direction in that game is horrid.

I'd like the see the game over screen

W-w-w-w-w-woah, Open Apoc? Where? When?

[Current Year] +5 give or take

Soon!
eventually
If you have the know how I'm sure they would love help. openapoc.org/

Thanks man. Shame I don't know jack shit about coding.

They need more an artfag than another code monkey.

Am I the only one that finds this hot?

How the fuck did I not know this? I'm still over here pressing ctrl+f like a fucking retard.

n o

Say if you could design a new alien type for an X-Com styled game with unique ability, what would you make?
inb4 various monster girls with seduction abilities

Space chavs with gopnik overtones. Not only does it excuse their apparent never ending numbers, mediocre kit and sheer expend-ability but you also get to laugh at the accents

The mistake was instead of giving you the option to manually set loadouts because you'd realize how little you have to work with they used a RPG class system with superpower perks everytime a soldier levels up making them precious in a game series where you're expected to lose dozens of soldiers fighting a losing war until you research the right technology that gives you just enough of an edge to win. Instead of fixing this concept or the whole turtling-overwatch playstyle everyone ends up doing, they just made a "apocalyptic" retread of the last game with even less features and introduce a fancy stealth mechanic that's immediately contradicted with the Timer bullshit to force players not to resort to turtling-overwatch and run like suicidal retards in 90% of their missions.

Things it did right

Fuck ups
>The final mission just has you go to a ship on Earth and shoot a guy (And it has a chance of bugging out)

Xenonauts 2 ayylien models. The grays look better this time but the new sebillians look like crocodiles rather than reptilians.

it looks fucked

Aside from that Sebillian, they look fine. Incomplete and pretty amateur, but fine. I'm glad the Xenonaut soldier is wearing more than just pajamas and I'm surprised the Androns were supposed to be towering over everyone

I liked the pajama-look the default armour had, since it very much illustrated to the player how fragile your soldiers were at that point.

I'm fine with blue jumpsuits. But there's no indication on how they're carrying their gear. In UFO Defense the sprites had visible backpacks. At least with their small harness (ie. not armor) their ability to carry stuff is more believable.

Besides, even on harder difficulties, Xenonauts soldiers can take a hit in their PJs
