CEMU 1.6.3 Released

Get it here faggots
cemu.info/releases/cemu_1.6.3.zip
The audio is now more accurate as well as the graphics on many games (see embed related)
check the compatibility list here;
compat.cemu.info/
Keep in mind its changing all the time and is entirely user driven and may not reflect current versions
Try places like WiiUISO, look for games in Loadline format, extract the loadline zip anywhere and load the game by running the .rpx file in the /data/code directory of wherever you extracted the loadline game

Sorry to take over your thread, OP.

WHERE IS THE REPLY BOX????

Glad it's not just me.

bait flag was unintentional

Same issue here. It disappeared out of fucking nowhere after I made a post. I cleared all of my browser history and now the reply box at the top is back after I click on "[Reply thread]" but the quick reply box isn't and doesn't come up when clicking post numbers or [post a repy at] the bottom. It only affects Holla Forums and new threads, older ones work fine and other boards work fine. Same issue on multiple browsers.

Actually the problem is triggered by posting. If you post in an old thread where replies work it will break it. At least it does for me. I posted in the Dragonball Xenoverse thread as a test and it before posting replies worked as they should and after the post it doesn't.

this is some next level shit. at least there's a thread on /sudo/ about it, maybe it'll get fixed at some point.

OP here
Yeah, I had to clear my browser cache to see it again
weird, must be codemonkey fucking our shit up again

As for the emulator, shader cache has had some great speed improvements, Super Mario 3D World is now completely playable for me with almost no stuttering, and I have texture compression disabled and GPU shader accuracy set to max

So hey is the pro controller drivers present for this and does this work with W101 by chance?

Not sure what you mean by "pro controller driver" but this does emulate pro controllers just fine

W101 hasn't been tested since 1.6.0 on the compatibility list so I'm not sure, it seems last they couldn't get it running but it might work now

I got a Wii U Pro controller is what I mean and was curious if the software would recognize it which is what I meant by drivers.

If Windows recognizes it then yes, the emulator will also recognize it

what the fuck is the point of emulating this

What kind of cpu do you need in order to run most of these properly?
Also, on the gpu side what is the minimum to run most properly?

I'd say any recent CPU, people have reported running games fine with Haswell chips and a GTX 9 series GPU

Exactly!

...

Is Bayo 2 playable yet?

Its been playable

Rustled my jimmies

It's playable if you like your sound going to shit randomly.

I say 4 is where we draw the limit.

I say 7

...

it's closed source because it's illegal, they'd face repercussions if their code wasn't, at the same time that's why it's so efficient, so I'll take it over an extremely pre-alpha emu that can't run games in a reasonably playable state any day

...

What else even needs to be added? Aside from multi-core support

1-5 are fair game.

Not ashamed to say I've tried 8.

Xenoblade X barely playable on my machine, at least the framerate improve a bit by 5fps in the new version.

So, how do you emulate things like the controller + nunchuck? Can you actually connect them to your computer with a special adaptor?

So when are we going to get Splatoon and Mario Kart 8 netplay? I wonder if we'll see a lot of modding like there is for all the various Smash Bros games.

This is why Holla Forums has gone to shit. It's faggots like you, who have not sense of taste. If I were your dad, disappointment wouldn't even begin to describe the way I feel right now.

Would that be a mentally handicapped animal?

Probably an egg or something

It would be 3D

...

...

Its the only decent WiiU emulator available. Discounting it because of its source model is playing license identity politics at this point. Linus Torvalds himself has stated many times how much he hates FOSS zealots like yourself. And by the way, open source =/= free as in freedom

...

If it can eventually run the fights with Prince Vorkken above 20fps it will surpass the original hardware. I can only dream of playing the action game of the generation at a solid 60fps.

If I had to guess, I'd say low-level CPU accuracy improvements and a multi-core dynarec and it should be fine

The reason the WiiU is so stupidly easy to emulate is because WiiU games have no direct access to hardware, instead they send high level API and kernel calls to the WiiUs OS. This also means the WiiUs OS handles memory management, making it uniform across games. In contrast, the Dolphin devs needed years of research and development to get Gamecube games to run that exploited memory tricks to get the most out of the GCNs mapped memory

Games that are capped at 30fps on console are also capped on the emulator at the moment like Xenoblade Chronicles

W101 isn't capped to 30fps, it just runs terribly.

Did you try disabling texture compression? Sometimes that fixes a lot of graphical bugs

Also, are you using an Intel GPU?

I tried it and it doesn't change much. The problem might cause from my old as fuck processor though.

SIGN ME THE FUCK UP

Do you think online will ever function? It would be the greatest multiplayer porn game ever should that happen.

Like this?

There is no sex, so it would not be porn.

I hope it will, I think it has great modding potential at least

Dolphin can play games online, so I don't see why not

...

ok

Good.

I heard it was an option during lemon tea vs milk splatfest, but I missed that one

what a time to be alive

Why stop at just pepe? Moonman Kart when

Moonman a shit

What we really need is :^) Kart

:^) Kart already exists tho;
store.steampowered.com/app/362930/

Hahahahahha

Why the fuck am I waiting for perfect MK8 emulation for when I could just be playing this?

legit reviews

So is Smash 4 playable?

Aw, that's awesome.

I wish we had fun like that here.

why

Smash 4 is one of the most playable games m8

...

...

I'd say the wiiu is pretty dead.

Might as well play the Jaguar user

I retract my previous statement. Because it wasn't really alive to begin with

One question - it internal resolution option in yet?

Nope.

no, not yet, all games run at their respective native resolution

That doesn't narrow it down much

Jimmied my Russel

Looks pretty good. A shame there isn't many good games on the Wii U though and I regret actually buying one. Maybe I'll end up trying it but I already own all the games I wanted to play on that system.

I think I'll still use Dolphin more often.

...

As long as Nintendo keeps their promise and Breath of the Wild comes out on WiiU I may not even buy a Switch. It will most likely work flawlessly on Cemu by the time its released

Noice. Still haven't emulated a single Gamecube game.

Why not? Dolphin is able to boot every single commercially released GameCube game with 100% accuracy

Haven't a clue which game to play. I've only played one JRPG, Chrono Trigger, and I feel like playing another one and just get lost in the world. I was thinking of playing Skies of Arcadia, but can't be bothered to. I just need to start playing and not stop.

Did you try something like Wind Waker?

I don't like it, even when it originally came out. Game hardly had any content. Windfall island a best though, playing hide and seek and those other quests. Fuck the rest of the game.

I understand
The game is alright up until the Triforce piece fetch quest, after that the game is pretty much over
The big open world was pretty novel for its time though its horribly dated now

Yeah it's not the worst game, it had it's moments but overall I don't like it. I didn't even beat it because the Triforce fetch quest, couldn't be bothered. I don't understand why it's so hard for Nintendo to make a good Zelda game, or a good classic Mario 64 game, they have a ton of great ips and don't utilize them. FUck them.

As long as their focus is accuracy & they've yet to optimize anything this will remain a shit emulator. Their rating of "playable" includes 12 frames per second which is not playable.

Muh accuracy is a meme. The sole purpose of emulation is to play console games on better hardware so you won't have to suffer shitty resolutions and framerates.

Are you saying I can play Bayonetta 2?

As long as you don't want sound, and don't mind graphics glitches and the occasional stutter

If only it didn't have so much content cut from it

I give it a year before this is anything close to usable. How is Citra doing meanwhile? Last build I checked was still utter garbage with bizarre file formats and still needing the bullshit home dump to do anything

Since we’re also discussing Dolphin
Does anyone know where to download a Gamecube IPL dump? Apparently it has to come from a real Gamecube, but I haven’t unpacked mine for over a decade and don’t have any way to connect or dump it in the first place.

Merry Christmas
>>>/file/361

Its not graphical glitches rather graphical accuracy. Its the sound thats a big problem but you can just disable audio altogether until thats fixed

Fuck me nevermind, Codemonkey broke file uploads, I'll have to try something else

Depends on what level of accuracy and what console you're talking about.
Some degree of accuracy is necessary if you actually want to play most game.

If you disregard accuracy either mostly or totally you your pre-2010 PCSX2 or that one XBOX emulator that played the first level of halo and crashed among other things.

Isozone probably has that.

accuracy and optimization aren't mutually exclusive. Sometimes a boost in emulation accuracy means less overhead. The main problem CEMU has at the moment is the dynarec runs on a single core only. Once they move up to a multicore dynamic recompiler it should make all the difference

This would be it, wouldn’t it?
theisozone.com/downloads/gamecube/other/gamecube-bios/

...

yes

Multicore emulation isn't without downsides, so it's either gonna impact accuracy or stability, not be much faster (maybe even slower) or be so massively complex that you're not gonna see it happen anytime soon.

if this shit will be able to run Xenoblade X on my new laptop with an i7 6700HQ I'm gonna bust the biggest nut you've ever seen

This can only go well

Is this a meme?

It wouldn't be the first time, but it's also likely that the author just wants absolute control over the project, or get his dose of patreon shekels while he can.

See, I'd sooner believe this shit because most emulators I use are open source. A closed source emulator just sounds retarded. If nintendo shuts them down then everything will be lost.

Reminds me of those "PS3 emulators" you had to pay for way back when that didn't even work but people fell for it anyway..

Take this with a grain of salt, but I remember hearing a long time ago there was evidence the author was working off code from a dev-kit or something. I have absolutely no proof for this though.

Don't get me wrong though you'd have to be very naïve to truly believe any recent emulator is the result of clean reverse engineering.
At the very least the people behind it have docs that aren't meant for the public use just like the vast majority of emulators out there.

He probably has a copy of Nintendo's API reference manual for the WiiU. That would not make the emulator illegal (because APIs can not be patented and are not protected by copyright), but using the manual for this purpose could still open him up for litigation. Sharing the manual might even be a criminal offense, because it could be considered a trade secret.

what's that good for

EMAIL ME WHEN ポッ拳 WORKS!

1, 2, and 8 are the only ones for me

...

I can't learn Japanese

...

That's what fags said about Sun/Moon.

Were they wrong? Give Citra a few more updates and you might be able to play it just fine.

I only skimmed the video, but it looks like speed is the only issue. That's kind of impressive.

Citra has come a long way in the past few months. I hope it's ready for most games soon.

It likely crashes at several points, just like most games currently.

It should run fine

A current gen i7 is as good as any user. And I'd hardly call CEMU the most demanding emulator, it just happens to be the one that runs the latest commercial console games. Surely there are more demanding emulators out there

I can't seem to get the "blow mic" bind to work.
Does anybody know how to fix it?

I guess ya blew it.

It's not a big deal, user. No need to blow it out of proportion.

am I on reddit?

Don't take everything so seriously. I'm afraid you're gonna blow a gasket.

...

bump

ebin

Did they fix Smash's sound issues yet?

yes

topkek

Gonna need to be some big fucking updates then, because Citra is shit at it's very core

t. endusers

t. fucking retard

You're the fucking retard here, you're welcome to one up them if you're not happy with the results.

So you mean like every other emulator that requires a BIOS?

Nah Citra requires a dumped home folder (for some games) which is similar to a BIOS from an user perspective but it also requires decrypted ROMs because supporting encrypted ROMs is either too complex for no benefits (inb4 "b-but muh piracy") or not legal to distribute at all and that's a bit more complex to find unless you have an hacked 3DS but as Citra grow more popular and becomes actually geared toward endusers you'll likely see more of those uploaded everywhere.

How do I get past this?

Fuck im retarded I needed to change it to a normal controller
too bad it looks like this

So basically the whole thing is worthless

You might need to buy a new gpu sometime soon bro.

F-ZERO GX RIGHT NOW

Does that run perfectly now? Last ishiruka build I tried still had some sound issues and lag on the sand planet tracks

To angry 12 y/o who can't play pokemon for free on their craptop sure, to anyone who actually cares about the console being emulated not so much.

mine looks the same, i got the 480. that should be more than enough to run it properly. it has to be something else

just realised the dude who makes the videos for youtube put his specs up and yeah, he has a 970 and the difference is negligible. i should be able to run this fine

FREE GAMES NIGGER

now if we could get other console emulators that worked as well as cemu and were developed as fast. thats the fucking dream

I don't know much about emulation but I'm not positive about shit like that, especially when cemu guy promotes *rubs hands* closed source. Well, maybe it really is the best option and the guy's doing really good job he kinda is while getting shekels to support his butt but my inner freetard doesn't like that.

So yes worthless

congrats you nigger

...

Wew lad, satan quins confirm CITRA IS SHIT

It can play games they just need to be properly dumped first, same as with any emulator really
Blame the retarded warez scene for popularizing encrypted dumps instead of properly decrypted ones.

I got an RX 470 but I literally just got it and have been having issues with drivers; unsurprisingly.

but that's wrong you fucking wrong person.
The 3ds has 2 file formats assosiated with it.
.cia and .3ds.
.cia is the 3ds equlivant of .apk or exes that install.
.3ds is what happens when you dump a cart using most dumping software. You can also freely convert .3ds to .cia without any hassle.
A decrypted dump can't run on a 3ds or a flashcart, so other than in cases where you mod the game and then repack it they're worthless for the end user.
CIA is the format a regular 3ds uses without any hassle. It's official and how both dev and live units work. If you can emulate a 3ds you have to emulate cia installation too.

...

It isn't.
They decided that just releasing encrypted roms and the means to play just that was "good enough" to run pirate games and sell stupid stuff to suckers while keeping the good stuff (mainly the bootrom key necessary to decrypt roms without a 3DS) private, it's what warez group do provide the shortest path to piracy regardless of consequence or issues and hoard the good stuff forever until someone decides there is more glory to gain from leaking it than keeping it.

Or are you gonna try and argue warez scenes have the best interest of people and long term preservation in mind?

That requires the bootrom decryption key, the one you can't dump yourself easily (as in you need to do it directly on the hardware and it's probably a decap job not just some soldering), also the one several warez groups have but refuse to release.

Anything but 8. Rabbits are assholes.

I am having some trouble with Xenoblade.

Help?

Because cemu can't resize shit set your desktop resolution to 1280x720 for much better graphics.

...

getting bootrom is something you need to decap for, but what makes you think that someone has decapped a CPU that isn't goyway or something? The cost to decap is expensive, and not doing it isn't a fault of the scene.
Decrypting a 3ds rom is an unecessary step currently in the process of 3ds piracy because it's used for an entirity of two things, modding and emulation. Why would it be added if it has no benefits yet? Most people use cia now, and skip dumping .3ds files entirely out of convience, not out of any sort of malice.

Shitty, HORRIBLY RUNNING emulation.

WiiUs are dirt cheap now especially with the NX on the horizon. Wait until march next year and they'll be sub-100 buckaroos.

Mine looks fine.

I never got that shit before in my life. It might be the "No online" message but you got a ROM with weird text encoding

I could get a WiiU

OR

I can just continue to use CEMU as it continues to improve and in the end I'll be playing WiiU games fine without having to pay a dime for an extra console I don't need

I downloaded the same one twice, the first one I can't remember where I got, it was a while ago, at the beginning of the year and I got the same kind of error. The second iso I got was the EUR decensorship off WiiUIso and it's doing the same shit.

will never understand why emulation cucks settle for this

These are the people who think that the "gimmick" is tacked on and that every game should conform to the retarded sony/microsoft controller method.

They already have access to said bootrom, not releasing it is entirely their doing.
That's what console hacking scenes do throw scraps to the public and keep all the good stuff to themselves not necessarily for selfish reasons but more often than not just because they can and not out of whitehat morality or some shit.

Because "It's good enough" is a cancerous ideology that fucked many scenes in the past, look at dreamcast / saturn / xbox / N64 and others to a lesser extent, people went for the easiest path to piracy and there's a decent possibility that doing that might have fucked emulation and preservation of those in the long run or at the very least unnecessarily multiplied the amount of efforts required to do it.

please stop. It still pisses me off that I need a Wiimotion plus to play Skyward Sword on Dolphin. Especially since I have a Wiimotion+ controller but I lost the fucking nunchuck. Fuck gimmicks and fuck Nintendo, Skyward Sword could've been a good game and it was ruined by its shitty waggle

I don't think it's perfect myself, but off the top of my head, maybe one game (dkctf) isn't designed around the options presented in the wii u, and to play the games without that is just a waste of time, an absolute waste.

lol

C'mon user, there are a lot of games that could take actual advantage of the motion control, Zelda wasn't one of them. It becomes tacked on when you need it for mundane in-game actions like swimming of all fucking things

I don't disagree, the game was unfortunately meant to be played that way. Sadly, working around a bad implementation of controls doesn't fix an outright bad game, it just redirects from an issue.

3ds emulation isn't being held back by roms it's being held back by not being able to decrypt roms. N64 emulation is held back by lack of documentation and the fact that the scene uses hacks to make games work and not making the base emulator better.
They're nothing alike, 3ds emulation isn't being held back by a lack of decrypted roms, the emulator still makes progress regardless.

...

I do collect consoles, older ones, I have a NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Gameboy, Gameboy Pocket, Gameboy color, gameboy advanced, Commodore 64…

I have no desire to buy a WiiU though, maybe in 10 years or something but even then I don't think it'll have much collector value

Buy a wii u soon because they are ending production. Maybe keep it in box and sell it in a few years, sealed.

Isn't Mupen fairly low level as far as emulation goes?
One thing that always impressed me about Dolphin, and its why I believe Dolphin may have perhaps the most talented dev team of any emulator, is that they don't like using hacks. The lead devs have described Dolphin as a LLE. Its crazy how much research into how the Gamecube and Wii do even the smallest things like memory management had to be done for the most accurate emulation. Thats how they finally got Star Wars the Clone Wars to boot. The Dolphin emulator blog alone can be used as a fucking textbook on how to make a good emulator

Looking forward to playing breath of the wild on this thing.

collector value these days is just another word for the scam prices charged by con-men for old stuff to people who either don't know about piracy or emulation or somehow think that buying old Genesis cartridges instead of the Virtual Console release benefits SEGA.

I mean collecting consoles as someone who actually appreciates the technology and is interested in messing around under the hood, which is sort of what helps makes better emulation and piracy possible.

I mean, if all you really care about is getting the Wii U library off your backlog or checklist and you don't really care too much about the quality at this point, then I guess Cemu is a better option. But the Brazilian hack seems better if you want optimum quality with complete access to the Wii U library (as well as the GC and Wii library) and a separate smaller device you can experiment with or take with you someplace else. Also, you can make a little money modding consoles and selling them right now.

get a Jaguar

Yeah it's not like the oman archive exists, oh wait.
What is holding back N64 emulation are retards insisting on keeping an obsolete plugin spec and refusing to update it, devs claiming that a plugin is bad if it doesn't run on 10 year old craptop (hi Zilmar) and some people in the scene being generally engaged in ego contests instead of working towards a common goal
Hack based plugin by themselves aren't holding back emulation it's the lack of interest in making an accurate renderer that is usable and well documented that really doomed N64 emùulation to the position it is today.

No it's not, long term preservation is, in the short term citra is actually much better off not supporting encrypted roms or the means to decrypt them on PC because nintendo would come down hard on whatever allows for that and it would probably leave 3DS emulation dead in the water if that happened to citra
The lack of tools to convert to any format without requiring the original hardware or good easy to use support for decrypted roms on real hardware is causing an unnecessary split that will probably still plague the scene 10 years from now.

tl;dr citra as a project wouldn't benefit from decrypting roms right now but 3DS emulation would benefit from having a way to decrypt roms as an independent project from citra and we can't ahve that yet because muh scene.

Different end results with the same root cause, scene circlejerking.

It has better potential than others for now but it's still badly documented, hopefully the Glupen64 and ParaLLEl forks end up making N64 emulation less shit.

It's a combo between the devs being good (hrydgard in particular is among the best emudevs out there and the big contributors are all very good at what they do even that crazy tranny), the devteam being way bigger than any other project and the console being the easiest to emulate out of the 3 6th gen console.

Relative to even some 4th gen systems the wii/gc is one of the least complex pieces of hardware both architecturally and how it performs software functions. Nintendos goal has been making systems that are easy and fast to work with. Dolphin is not some emulation miracle, it is the result of a very easy console to program for that has few complications in how it functions.

Sadly, this quality of emulation and the library it supports is more than a little lackluster. The wii and gc had some pathetic libraries and it's unlikely anyone will be satisfied for a length of time with its games.

even despite all of this, n64 emulation would still be bad by virtue of not being the original hardware

So can i already play MK8 perfectly or is there any problem.

Are any other Wii U games worth playing besides SM3DW and DKTF

5-8 is the best
