Nu Male's Sky is being updated

Hello Games is trying to salvage their wreck of a game. But they'll never be able to salvage their reputation.

Usually when a highly publicized piece of shit game offers an update that "fixes" things there is a wave of apologists in the throes of denial trying to validate their purchase to everybody. Not this time. Even the shills can't be arsed trying to get people excited for this anymore.

BRAVO MURRAY

Just you wait, user.

Notice how they don't say that you can build a base. Just that they're adding the foundation for it. It's literally nothing the update.

Why the fuck would you build a base when the whole point is traveling? Holy christ they're retarded.

...

They are still gonna fuck it up, even with the base building.
Most likely gonna add some autistic way to build stuff down to very small details but nothing of that is gonna interact with anything or matter at all.
Building will most likely serve as a resource sink and a way to be creative but serve no purpose.

In a game where you keep traveling from planet to planet and spend only a short amount on one planet, the concept of base building makes very little sense, you'll most likely never visit the same planet again anyway. Starbound is proof of this shit where players just keep all their crafting stuff in their ship and barely bother with base building.

What they'd need to do would be some simple enough "drop module for function" so you could quickly make a base on a planet that serves a few purposes like repairs, opening a shop, mining local resources and transfer them to other planets. Then create a trade infrastructure so resources can be pooled back into a single planet of your choice where you'd build a bigger base with better modules and fast travel to every now and then. Have pirates\other factions also building bases and attacking yours and that'd do it.

But none of that is gonna be present, building will serve little or no purpose, factions will still be more static than dirt and you'll only build things on one planet because the game will gate content until you build something to unlock the next tier of upgrades.

unless you can build your own ship then whats the point?

I'm so confused, what happened to Sean Murray?
He was practically everywhere before the game released, begged people not to look at the leaks, and then suddenly vanishes without a trace?
Did they remove him from existence? Will all his pictures be gone? What's next?

Sean Murray was just a hired actor user

If you promised the moon from the sky, fully believed you could deliver it and then totally failed making thousands of people angry, wouldn't you disappear? Can you imagine the shame and depression he's feeling? Honestly kinda feel bad for him in a way. Then again this sort of thing happens constantly with video games so maybe he should've thought about it before opening his mouth.

Way more.

Like I want to give him credit for trying to stick with the game, but vanishing for 4 months is a terrible idea.

Buildings are just gonna be another empty resource grind. How are they going to add to or affect what little gameplay is already there? They won't, I guarantee it.

He's in another galaxy now, user.

hundreds of thousands is still thousands

With the millions of bucks he has in his bank account?

Yeah, tottally.

That's not how companies work.

I thought the changes you made to a planet were reverted when you left. How would that work?

Nobody can fix this garbage.

There's no need to wait, just take a look at the comments section of dualshockers. It's like faggots have never heard of the saying "once bitten, twice shy".

it is when youre running a scam, dummy

You mean like Space Engineers?

Some say he was Todd Howard wearing a mask.

starmade is probably a closer comparison since its big block graphics

Should we care? They would have to make an entirely new game to actually make no man's buy worth playing.

He was a PR guy. Nothing more.

maybe thats what theyre doing and theyll sell it as a separate projektski

Isnt sean murray working on star citizen now?

I mean, almost everything you were supposed to do in NMS was already possible in Space Engineers, at least when it came to travel and building.

No way, he's a rank amateur compared to Chris "$15,000 ships" Roberts

but space engineers has engine limitations. in no master space you can do anything

Anything like what?

WEW

...

I read it in another thread, dont have a pic

One of the Hello Games developers left to go work on Star Shitizen, but it wasn't Sean.

...

youll have to buy it and find out. i wouldnt want to ruin the surprise

Such trashy planets.

reminds you of somewhere?

Isn't this cuck from like the UK ? dosen't EU laws apply to this kind of shitty scam ? i mean come one, i know in Europe things are shitty, but for this kind of stuff there is always something or someone to a sue againt's it.

He fucking deserves it.

You'll see, they will iron out all the bad stuff and put in what they promised, just you wait.
They will make this game the best thing since the wheel. I can't fucking wait, I'm so hyped already. You will be able to do so much shit in it.

We should speculate, reasonably, all the amazing features they'll add in!

They'll add a control box to every planet that allows you turn that planet into a ship and fly from system to system in it.

Base building guaranteed to be happening

Just dont leave the planet because it all resets when you do

I honestly think we should try to hype the new patch as much as possible, as a joke

Spoiler: EU is the scam.

Yes and sort of. I'm sure the EU has some laws that apply, but in the UK we have some fucking strict laws on false advertising and misleading consumers anyway. Which is why the fucknut is being investigated by the ASA.

What do you mean as a joke? I hear they'll be adding in aliens you can woo, and you can even take a wife! They're procedurally generated, and you'll have random human/alien hybrids that carry your name with them and can mate with other hybrids they meet from other players. They only grow up in real time though, so you have to play the game for 15 years before they start exploring on their own.

That sounds amazing, holy shit. I can't fucking wait.
What about the multiplayer? I heard the space battles can span over entire systems and you will never know if you're fighting against another player or an AI.

Its also pretty much confirmed by rumours that they will add a nearly infinite amount of procedually generated ressources you can get from the infinite number of procedually generated aliens.
These can be traded and used for entrepreneurships, you could open a planet sized restaurant were players and all NPCs of the galaxy can come to eat the alien food you brought there by your delivery drones which you got by your enorme income.

And thats only one of sheerly endless choices, you will never need another game in your life!!!!

People who actually develop games don't get loadsamoney, the people funding them do. It's like any business, the people doing the actual work get jack shit and the leech in a suit steals most of the value of their labour.

Imagine paying 18 and a half grand for that and thinking you got 100..000% your money's worth. Do you think the faggot who wrote that autistic drivel killed himself by now?

If you could bring your base with you it would be cool. Terrestrial building could be done with the purpose of harvesting mass amounts of material for building an ever expanding spacestation. As you progress, growing ever larger in size and harvesting more carbon till you were a massive force of gravity devouring entire gas giants in an instant. End game is you become the hype dense center of the universe.

i saw him getting his dick sucked on chaturbate the other day.
maybe it wasn't sean, i didn't have my glasses on

That's not Sean.

But it's close enough that someone could tweet this at him and ask if it's a planned DLC for No Man's Sky…

I hate how he looks fat and gross, but I admire his chest hair. I bet it isn't as soft as mine though, I have the softest chest hair! That I guarantee!

Then again, it's not his fault that his tiny indie studio became Sony's white whale because he was developing something besides game: but it's a remaster guise/game: last year's release +1

Then again, he's also a beta numale faggot who would probably answer "Awesome!" if you asked him "Hey Sean, what would you like for breakfast?".

he lied out of his ass in numerous tv shows and interviews for months leading up to the release of the game. how could you possibly feel bad for him?

You know she's terrified her actual adult father is going to hear her from the other room and come to beat her ass and never let her see "daddy" again.

That was my point. He got shoved into that position by Sony but he still fucked it up by thinking that taking sonydollars would make a good game automatically

Yeah, it's hard to feel bad for a guy who straight up is saying bullshit when he knows a lot of that shit won't end up in the game. If he made a statement about how the game would have no multiplayer the day the game went gold, there would have been way less of a problem. But no, a vague tweet the day before release after straight up saying multiplayer was a big thing in multiple interviews? Fuck that guy.

...

Yeah it's about time the game had one.

Did you really just greentext their entire reply?

Pretty sure he'd be the one sucking the the dick, friendo.

As tierd as I am it's a wonder I even quoted the correct post.

I think it's time to go to bed, user.

Here's the problem I have with base-building.

Your goal in this game is to get to the centre of the universe and you achieve that by travelling from system to system.

The base you build will be a static building on a planet covered by static buildings. So building the base might be good to give you a point to rest and store shit but what about when you leave the system for the next star system? Then that base becomes another abandoned structure on the planet.

You'd have to keep building the bases over and over again just to get a place to rest. It's not a static place like Minecraft, you're going to have to eventually abandon it to move forward, so why build a base at all?

To artificially lengthen the time it takes to get to center even more

Now we just watch the retards who haven't had the chance to refund it go "s-see, they're updating it, it's going to be great after all!"

You guys can't stop touching the poop, can you?

Not like the game lacks core mechanics that need fixing, right?

We revel in shit. Come join us.

We have patch notes now.
archive.is/TETle

Found a location you like that's better than where your autism fort currently is? Dismantle it and get all the resources you spent building it fully refunded so you can build it elsewhere. Build Communication Terminals that let you leave sub-space messages for others to find. You still can't run into other people but now you can leave shitposts for them.

you're telling me this game didn't already have this?

I bet it's going to be like Dark souls where you form your message from a list of words instead of actually leaving a proper message because that would make it too easy to be problematic and toxic.

I'm sure this is just (((pure coincidence)))

They can't fix this game

The whole point is to "reach the center", i.e. travel literally for hours, and in the end you're teleported to another galaxy making everything previous unreachable.

It's too late to add base building bullshit.

I hate the desatured greenish look of the game. So monotonous

I don't think it's too late to keep adding on to NMS, but I'm not sure if base building and farming was the right way to go at all, especially on planets.

It's not too late to fix it, but in order to fix it they'll have to fundamentally change the gameplay, not add something that contradicts the ultimate goal of it.

Or Empyrion

hey what's going on?

I've always enjoyed base building, so I can't see it hurting the game. wasn't the point of it to be able to "do anything"?

wtf I like No Man's Sky now

I just wonder what can even be done with NMS though. There's so many planets, but where do you go from there, especially from a game that had an endless amount of hype and was given a full retail pricetag?

The only things I remember being the point to No Mans Sky were to "Get to the center of the Universe" and the 18 quintillion planets.

I am ALMOST interested in pirating it….ALMOST

I've never even played the game though, so your ebin maymay doesn't apply. I imagine the faggots that bought it would at least be somewhat happy there finally is something to do in it

I never really payed attention to the development of the game, I was satisfied with Empyrion.

I mean, I like the idea of base building, but Christ.

What's the point of base building if the game is all about going forward?

I could understand the appeal if the game actually rendered a random galaxy for you to explore at your own leisure, giving you the option of building bases on "Goldilock" planets rich in resources, but as it stands this is just a shitty gimmick.

The really sad part is that the cuckolds are crawling out of the woodwork to give Sean a few more blowjobs.

Sony stopped paying them after release.

But can I fuck alien bitches in hydroponics? When is an update going to give me the one thing we all want out of a space game: the ability to be a pioneer in the alien sex trade?

And will anyone actually see all this shit you build?

I've already seen some slimy-as-fuck apologies to Sean Murray. Just kill me.

They didn't take the suggestion to commit suicide, though I'm sure it's in the front of their minds all the time.

WE WANT THE CRADLE AUDIENCE!
I KNOW WE WANT IT LOL

At least the freighters make sense, but I just know you’ll be so fucking restricted in how you can customize them that it will be almost better not having them.

They stole subnautica base assets

I'm pretty sure there are games like that.

There is, it's called Empyrion. Your first ship will likely end up being a small piece of shit and eventually you can build as big of a ship as you want. Pic related

What's even the point?

Holy shit, they did.

Oh, hello, interface element from The Long Dark; how are you doing?

I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO BELIEVE ANYMORE

Fuck them. For me, devs have one chance per game to get my money. I hope no laps this up just because le epic autism base building and le epic survival mode, lest they contribute to the cancerous culture of letting devs know that it's okay if the game is crap as long as they fucking fix it later

Fuck that, especially in the case of Cucked Man's Sky.

They should've delivered something on launch that didn't function like shit and didn't look like uncensored nigger ass. They should've delivered something that was at least mildly enjoyable and THEN add to the game to make it even more fun.

If they couldn't fucking do it, then they should've set more realistic launch goals for themselves. If you fall flat on your stupid fucking face at launch, then fuck your game forever. $60 is too much these days to risk on a video game, of all fucking things, being a disappointment.

They really don't learn do they? Remember everyone saying that even the normalfags are fed up with this shit and that they will never buy their shit again? Fucking hell this is why the industry is so crap.

now it's really living up to the "Starbound in 3D" for real

The Sims did it seventeen years ago.

What the fuck is this obsession with first person building? Minecraft almost works since it's not pre-made objects, but shit like this, Fallout 4, Subnautica, and embedded related, which is the worst offender of them all, drives me up the fucking wall. I wish a game would actually do something like AutoCAD or even fucking Google SketchUp with some terraforming features as means for building bases.

Well, at least he isn't Anthony Burch.

Gotta superficial retards

...

Remember when FFXIV came out, was a huge disappointment, and tanked miserably?

Remember how the dev staff for the game ran away and we never heard from them again?

Oh wait, they actually owned up to their failure, apologized, shuffled the team, and unfucked the game through hard work and not being pretentious cunts.

To see this studio behave so shamefully is appalling. Own up to your failure like adults. It's not like posting a 'We fucked it all up' message is going to lose you sales at this point. Hell, I saw something TB mentioned a week or two ago where, for a few hours, there were ZERO people playing the game on Steam.

And do they really think a patch is going to do anything for the game? The brand is poisoned beyond belief and no one is going to touch it if they were on the fence.

I found the patch details on plebbit: reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/5f5o4k/introducing_foundations_update_v11_and_full_patch/

You have to go back

well that proves that.

Blame Garry's Mod.

But you can't reach it.not even after 50 tries

This gif pisses me off way more than it should.

Back to Holla Forums

Literally the only thing this shitfest needed was a functional persistent multiplayer like a MMO, so I could have mediocre dogfights with retards and griefing cunts out of their mining shit. Then I would have bought it on 80% sale maybe

...

Are you all excited for multiplayer?

Seems like you're the one who needs to go back to Holla Forums bud.

Wasn't Cradle about building your own waifu?

10/10

Cradle wasn't that much of a walking simulator though. It had puzzle sections and enemies. Walking simulators don't have failure states. Whether it was a good game or not, that's up to you.

...

Every time I go to any store that sells games, I see 20 to 30 copies of No Man Sky sitting on the shelves in every store. The only reason this update happened was because

Stores desperately need to get rid of the surplus

Come to talk about it, I have never seen the two in the same room.

I bet this is what Hell feels like

The only one that doesnt bother me is the egg

The biggest mistake on the part of HG was the absolute silence that preceded this announcement. Like some have said in this thread, it would've been nice to see someone, anyone from the dev team put some apology message (a genuine one, not the typical half-assed, passive-agressive non-apology that some shitheads produce when in a similar position) along with a small developer diary where updates would be regularily occurring. Sure, that wouldn't fix the game but at the very, very least it would mean that the team is working on pulling their weight somewhat.

I can see the angle of silence being thought as a logical solution so that the shitshow wouldn't end up in a situation where communication would only add fuel to the fire, but you just don't do that when the thing that people demand the most are explanations and reasons as to why the game turned out like shit, this wasn't a blunder that people would expect, it was a blunder born mostly out of ambiguiously made half-answers that only created more quiestions, so communication was vital, not silence.

To be fair, I kinda like some of the aspects of this new update, especially the fact that you can now buy bigger ships and generally be able to do a bit more than just shooting lasers at rocks ad infinitum, but it's not that enticing when this is just an initial feature update instead of one that not only adds but actually fixes some of the built-in problems with the way the gameplay works. It's cool to see them attempt to breathe new life into a game that direly needs it, maybe they'll work towards restoring that game to live up to its full potential but I doubt it.

Cradle was a legit adventure game. It had inventory puzzles, dialogue trees, and failure states. It also looked gorgeous *as long as you did not move the camera.*

Oh, and it even had some annoying action sequences.

w-what happens when you move the camera?

We don't talk about that.

The blur and smear kick in. Of course, there is no way to disable it.

They aren't adults, user.

He slipped and fell in to a memory hole.

Apologize.

...

That reminds me, anyone have a picture of their empty offices that got posted here a few weeks ago? You know the one with all the empty computer desks and a sole MAGA hat?

For what, not lynching you before you ran away to your bunker with all the cash you could carry?

...

There's nothing wrong with the genre. It's fun building bases with friends and then attacking other bases. If you don't like it then just fuck off you autist.

>>>/reddit/

Sorry you are a sociopathic misanthrope.

That argument doesn't apply to this game.

Try improving your reading comprehension.

normalfag cuck

Geez not even a steam friend? How pathetic are you at making friends?
