Does this case prove that workplace democracy is unworkable?

Shitty gimmick restaurant designed to appeal to hipsters goes down in a cloud of flatulence, quelle surprise.

I'm excited to see everything run like this.

this is the good, hard hitting journalism i crave

The workers should have elected a leader to formulate things like rotas and opening hours. Committees are notoriously bad at stuff like that.

Now thats a good meme.

wew lad

they were moaning about the star wars film this time last year too. Sad!

No, it's because they ran it retiredly

Of course it had to be in America.

...

lmao who would wait a full 40 min to get a sandwich

just leave smh

...

It's funny how these sheep can only get agitated politically if it involves consumer items. Corn Flakes, Star Wars, Ghostbusters, video games, etc. etc.

It would have done much better and could have had lower prices if they didnt do something so niche.

Subpar (self) management exists even among worker cooperatives.

They should've been prepared to work longer, harder and at prime hours. Running a cooperative is not a walk in the park, you can't just slag it.
And the no-tipping rule is nice and all, but it's expected in most western countries. So if your prices do not include tipping people might be put off at first glance.

Advertisement in general as well

Why would it even take that long? I can make enough chicken sandwiches for four in 10 minutes or so, and that includes baking the chicken.
Regardless, I admire them for trying, they're actually doing something.

If it had more people it could run regular hours while still having short shift times.

it's not doing something if you are full of crapitalist ideology and happen to find /r/socialism and a few blogs on tumblr

No

Self-management is socialism. What should they've been doing instead? Waiting for the "revolution" and it's vanguard party to save them?

...

>Self-management is socialism.
wew

Sure, but they failed at "management" part. They were apparently just a bunch of petty-bourg kids who think socialism=no work

I get it. It's not "flashy" enough. You want blood running in the streets, the capitalists dragged from their homes and beaten to death to the sound of gunfire, etc, etc.
Except that's never worked.

Self-management and collective ownership of the means of production. Sounds pretty socialist to me.
Unless of course, you're a Bordigist.

So? There are plenty of examples where it does work. In Argentina, in Spain, in Rojava, etc.

I don't know why you're swallowing this ideological hit piece whole, but you should probably think more critically for your own sake.

Actually, I want them to stop claiming its a marxist restaurant if its owned by one person and the workers are all idiots. If you're going to do something, do it well, or dont do it at all.

Okay, solid point.

Reality is more complex than that. When starting an enterprise there's no certain way to tell how it'll play out. The point is that we have to keep trying and learn from our mistakes.

Just because it might fail doesn't mean it's all bad or that we shouldn't give it a try, even if we don't know if it will succeed to begin with.

ohoho comrade, convince me that workers in countries like Argentina or Rojava have work morale of these kids and I will give you myself as your property.
I'm not shitting on worker-owned business, I am shitting on their approach to the business.

You could start with having common sense, like having consistent opening hours and not taking 40 mins to make a sandwich.

Im all for coops, but they should be coops and you should use common sense.

Your knowledge on this workplace comes almost exclusively from a hit piece you muppet.

Also I will shit on anything "vegan" regardless of what it is

yes, and that's more than enough for me to feel disgusted by it. I would gladly dismissed my opinion on that if you can give me more info about it.

Why would you form an opinion after reading an obvious hit piece? They have intentionally made unfalsifiable information and soaked it in twisted rhetoric.

you know literally nothing about it aside from what little is provided by the article. it's literally just hearsay.

even the only one sentence that restaurant have very inconsistent working hours is enough for me to form opinion.
By this, I can understand that it was poorly managed, and since they had somewhat high degree of """workplace democracy""" proves that they are all ideological consumers, not producers.

tell me more about it, I'm always glad when I am proven to be wrong.

Could you provide an alternate article?

No, I can't, because this is a manufactured story.

LISTEN TO WHAT HE IS SAYING, IT IS HEARSAY. AKA IT IS BASICALLY MADE UP. WHAT ABOUT THIS IS SO DIFFICULT FOR YOU TO GRASP GODDAMN TANKIE RETARDS RREEEEEEEEEEEEE-

according to who, you dumb nigga?

accoring to the reddit reddit.com/r/grandrapids/comments/5e7jf9/bartertownthe_garden_is_closing/

But ok, I understand that this place might not even exist, or that this article is made just to prove that "worker owned businesses do not work" or whatever you are trying to tell me I don't seem to comprehend.

Stay btfo

Reminder that under socialism all restaurants and "shops" will be open every day. Sunday will be abolished by your new metric overlords.

Thats technocracy, but I would not oppose such a system. Its much more efficient.

Let's hope they keep moaning about the new Star Wars film every year. Yes, maybe even the new Star Wars film twice a year!! I love Star Wars!!! I'm a consumer and I love the products I consume!!!!!!!! Feed me shit everyday cause FUCK H8

Correctly is L'vov. Maby it was a russians? ))

Yes, absolutely. Men invented love.

How many of you fucking mouth breathers are gonna keep saying this?

I see it in literally every thread.

No.

Okay wiseass, why don't YOU come up with a massive exploit, along the lines of what OP has been counting on, for an acclaimed RPG??

bottom right corner, you can end the scene there.

...

lol fucking retards. Is it because she doesn't look 12 years old?

Capitalism only becomes useless when the supply of everything is so vast or people become so self sufficient that demand is zero and value is none existent. In that society, colonizing space would just be a hobby to kill time and fight boredom instead of a concerted search for greener pastures with exploitable resources.

I hope such a society never flourishes and humans are forced to expand our horizons to fight some kind of problem or lack of something important, kicking and screaming the whole way.

about as likely as a civil war
