I guess I'll repost what I put in the Holla Forums thread about this, before putting more thought into what I'd expect from the Capcom side of MvC4 (if it actually happens):

I'd love if they kept more of the 90s roster, but for sure some new characters are getting in there and reactions will be… mixed. First off, everyone with a movie or tv series will be in, so expect to see Luke Cage, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, a few Inhumans, Daredevil, etc join the cast. Of the teen heroes, I expect Miles and Kamala for sure, with Amadeus MAYBE replacing Banner as the Hulk. Miles would be better as a color option for Spiderman, but they may force him into a whole character. I don't hate Ms. Marvel as much as most, and since Mr. Fantastic is definitely not getting in, she probably won't be too bad (and she hits that Captain Marvel and Inhumans connection to insure she's considered).
As far as pure feminist agenda snorefests, Patsy Walker and Mockingbird have very little chance of getting in. There is nothing about Hellcat's powerset (even when she's not written terribly) that makes her stand out from anyone, and Mockingbird's biggest claim to fame is being written out of Agents of Shield for a spin off that never got picked up. Squirrel Girl has a chance just because the Japanese might be behind enough on things to think she's still cool, but at least she'd end up being made cute instead of repulsive.
Big question on if they'll be able to keep mainstays like Magneto, Sentinel, Storm and other X-Men related characters due to not wanting to push other studio's movies. I can see them getting to have Wolverine and that's it for mutants.
Capcom side would probably most be adding in SFV characters in pumped up to Versus level of power. I'll think about it more, but I don't think it'll be that different from the MvC3 roster.

I didn't play it much, but it's neat because it has a shitton of characters, but the backgrounds are really jarring in style compared to the characters (the backgrounds are much higher res). I think 6 is the one with ANDREW JACKSON in it, so I'd suggest it just for that.

I do have the Xbox360 version of Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 and both the DLC characters and all the DLC costumes for it, as well as both Marvel vs Capcmo 2 and Marvel vs Capcom Origins, all on my Xbox360.
However, I have just gotten a PS3 for super cheap (Black Friday sale) and although I can still get a physical copy of UMvC3(if I want to, that is), I cannot get DLC nor can I get the first two Marvel vs Capcoms on my PS3 now.

You should learn to read elitist. SamShoVI is a weak entry of the series. It has grooves that don't resemble at all their respective games(plus a few more that I don't even know why they put there). They removed blood and the fatalities to make the game PG-13 by having some really weird hit-effects. It's basically a dreammatch game so no story. But SamSho story makes no sense on the other hand.

They do and might even have some today but can't help but think they keep them all in the "storage", just like how Capcom does.

And then there was the MvC1+MSH re-release; holy shit! whoever did that splash art should be fired.

Overall, I remember being simply awed by COTA and I was already playing Nightwarriors at the time. It always bummed me that the characters lost a lot in terms of animation in the next games like the Colossus giant swing special and Sentinel losing about 6+ command moves and a bleepin' awesome intro (but he was top tier so people won't complain).

I don't think the 2v2 with an assist makes perfect sense, at least if the assist is a fully modeled character anyway. It made sense in MvC1 due to sprites. Perhaps it's more like a striker system, where everyone can be a main fighter OR an assist, but that also seems like an odd choice.

I hope it doesn't. Literally everything about it sounds like a complete and utter trainwreck from the sparse details so far (Yep, get Sony to pay for it and rush it to market again. Favorite character select theme? This one is pretty simple but the main thing the theme is supposed to do is amp you up and it does its job perfectly.

I'm not good at fighting games, and I only play kof 98 with my jap friend, whos been playing fightans since he was 6. I use terry, andy, and blue mary. He uses joe, king, and either robert or kyo. Mary is the easiest to win with, followed by andy but terry is my favourite. Any tips or tutorials in english for terry? Or tips on how to overcome his racial advantage?

For tier lists that's usually the main difference between an early and later tier list, when the games fresh it's who gets what easily compared to others and later on is when people think more into in who's the overall best.

If he really knows how to use Kyo, you're fucked either way. Well, Terry and Mary are good point characters (first on your team) but Terry has good normals, safeish Burn Knuckle and Power Charge so always use the first to apply pressure and the second one to start a combo. C+D go over lows like Iori's fireball. Mary is great for poking but a little limited compared to other characters (EX Mary in 98UMFE is great tho) but still a good character. Don't know about team order so maybe put the one you like to use supers the most as your second character.

I think after 2002, the gameplay deviated too much from "classic KOF" like XI having "weird jumping/hops", hitboxes and XIII overal with its hitboxes and Drive system.

I just hope XIV can build a fanbase as strong as previous iterations like 2002(UM) and '98(UMFE). You don't even need to drop and forget XIII existed if you liked that game. Hell, there are people still playing and making tournaments for Maximum Impact regulation A. Like me and my friends yesterday at our monthly meeting where we usually play Virtua Fighter 5FS and DOA5LR and we played the PS2classic version available at the Japanese PSN for the PS3.

But I think it could still get some tweaks. Extra mode was useless in vanilla but in UM(FE) they made it a little too good. Maybe they could tweak the Advanced Mode like letting QuickMax be available there too to extend combos but maybe spending two bars so it won't be too good. It's just many characters benefits from the Extra system now than the Advanced mode.

Well, I gave it a shot.

Fighters in general usually have Critical Mass and thus everyone, or it's a ghost town, but it's not really just fighters.

All multiplayer games that aren't free to play/mobas/mobalikes (or both!) that are on PC are having the same problem, which is that PC has a massive library and ADD is only increasing, not decreasing.

It's becoming increasingly hard to retain players without some kind of secondary grinding mechanic to "make" them play, and the breadth of f2p offerings mean people can gamehop continuously with a group of friends with no consequences.

No, it's only going to get worse as games get more numerous while competing for a limited player base and that player base's cash dollar money, and inter-game competition means that games will probably continue to be fairly cheap as they are now (on sale.)

Bursting libraries and enormous backlogs will continue, meanwhile people will just play x game with their friends, or whatever game perfectly fits into their autism matrix.

Even if 99.9% of all games are trash some good ones will still slip through and add to everyone's collective backlog, and we'll all be crushed under the weight of time like we are with books, which means that people as "gamers" will continue to have increasingly divergent experiences as they all fall down their rabbithole of choice, instead of 20 or 30 years ago when we all might have played a canon of a few games and games were so expensive that we had to autistically wring out every last cent of enjoyment from them instead of stacking them up in the back room with the rest of our dust-covered pile.

SF5 feels like a slower, clunkier version of SF4 with even more hitstun slowing the gameplay down.

Breakers Revenge is a better Street Fighter than SFV. SNK games like KOF, Garou, RealBout and SamSho are ground based just like Street Fighter and they all have people playing on Fightcade.

KI Season 3 is trash, and I'm not interested in Tekken 7 if my main isn't in it, yet they add losers like Chloe, Gigas, and maybe some some slutty vampire bitch nobody who played Tekken Revolution took seriously Kuma main for life.

Every track in Guilty Gear (except Keep in Gates, apparently) was composed by Ishiwatari. His style's changed pretty dramatically, and Xrd's noticeably a lot closer to the style he used for BlazBlue (before CP). Lily of Steel and Reunion in particular sound like they should be BlazBlue tracks. Some other Xrd tracks do sound a little closer to Isuka or Overture (Marionette, One Dawn), but unfortunately nothing even comes close to XX.
