Why is it that only Japanese games have memorable romances? I assume it's because more Japanese games are story focused and that makes it more natural to have a romance between characters but there are also plenty of western games that are story focused yet I can't think of a single memorable romance. They're all completely shallow, and usually because one of the characters is the player who is usually more of a self-insert blank slate than in Japanese games.
