Square did the opposite of what (((you))) said. Real final fantasy became Bravely Default. And World of Final Fantasy, I guess, which is actually decent. The gameplay loses steam at the end when it devolves into Gravity+Gravity Counter every round, but introduces some cool lore that can very easily be built upon. It's clearly meant to be the start of a new branch of the franchise. Not sure how I feel about the Knights of the Round being the big bads, though.
