Who else here is still playing tf2? I've been away from it for a while but I got back into it a few months ago and I've been having a pretty good time.
Thoughts on the current state of the game/upcoming Pyro/Smissmass updates?
Favourite class and loadout? I mostly run roaming Soldier with stock Rocket Launcher, Gunboats and Escape Plan, but my actual favourite class is Medic. Halfway competent with Demo as well.
Either Scout with stock scattergun, stock pistol, and the meat, or the medic with stock syringe, stock medi gun, and ubersaw. I don't even play the game anyone.
I've been playing it for about a year now and I don't get how people get so good at Soldier and Demo. I'm great at every class other than them.
It went to shit in 2011 and has been going downhill ever since. I may be pathetic but I know when to stop playing a shit game.
TFC has better gameplay and a more dedicated community. TF2 is shit.

Nah, I stopped playing long ago and stopped caring altogether after they added the CSGO weapon cancer
They added a matchmaking service to mixed reception. There's now casual and competitive servers, but people have a lot of issues with queueing and not being able to just drop in and out of matches like you used to. Also most games are now a best 2 out of 3 scenario, so not many of them last longer than 30 minutes.
You have to use community servers for that, and the community browser is still shit.

I don't really check the updates anymore, I'm burned out on trading items and I generally stick with vanilla weapons. You can usually find me on 32 man dustbowl servers.
Favorite class is heavy, even though sniper and medic has my most playtime. It is incredibly satisfying once you learn how to be the anchor that coordinates your team's offense.
I don't really have loadouts, I change weapons as the situation demands it. But my favorite play styles are shotgun pyro, battle medic, battle engie, disciplinary action soldier, and cuntsman.

A few years ago on a trade server an admin gave me crits and god mode and I ran around killing everything in sight. Forgot that I didnt want my stats to look like shit but i forgot and now it sticks out like a sore thumb. Other shit is legit though, probably from pubs or trade servers.
I started playing again because I remembered the fun I had years ago, and stuck around because I'm able to play the game properly now.

The competitive mode update was the final nail in the coffin for me. I could not handle a level of cuckoldry this high. Even Paladins is more fun that modern tf2.

I remember that no matter what server I was on every 90 seconds I'd get 3 seconds of shitty lag despite how good my connection was. And on top of that being unable to join a friends game unless we were in a party beforehand was complete shit.

They've fucked with so many weapon stats that I can hardly play any class now. I couldn't play pyro to save my fucking life, and I find it impossible to hit anything with a flamethrower unless I go apeshit, flailing wildly in desperation to set ANYTHING on fire, like the perspective is all wrong and the flames are nowhere near where I'm aiming or so close that it's in front of the enemy and misses them entirely.
I can be chasing tail with the backburner and not kill a slow target, and then I can get killed by another pyro with a backburner melting my face off.
Sniper is ridiculous, I can't hit shit that I get a solid aim on, but another sniper can aim for 1 second on an incline and get a headshot on me, or jump a corner with the huntsman and get a headshot while I'm midfall from a rocket jump.
The hit reg is bullshit, the lag compensation is bullshit, and the updates continue to make engine performance tank. This halloween "update" seemed to cause a gradual fucking of performance, every server for the merasmus contracts would lag horribly upon joining, one server in particular was a community made map and the lag was unbearable, the more you joined it the worse the lag got.
Man I'm having a fucking blast with TF2 now. God damn I missed just jumping around as Soldier and the new Fubar taunt for Soldier just makes pissing off people that bit easier

There used to be servers that would cycle through a variety of modes and maps, shocking as that may seem. Now it only appeals to autistic children that can't handle change and can only play on one map for 4 hours.
That's not even getting into the rest of the game. The servers have been nuked into unadulterated autism, and all the fun players have left.
I gotta say that although TF2 went to complete shit I at least got to have fun one last time with TF2C. If anyone ever gets it going again, have fun allowed, loadsa maps, saysounds, and ban commies and butthurt faggots.

The only servers I've been able to find using the community browser and some basic criteria (servers in my country, decent ping, not empty) have just been 24/7 hightower with like 4 players. Which is okay to just fuck around with a soldier in, but it gets boring fast.
I want a good alternative to the queue system instead of the neglected mess that is community servers. But valve will probably never offer any kind of support or incentive for it

They have had years to learn from what TF2 does right and they are still years behind. How does that happen?

While Stalin had a stable server he also had a no fun allowed policy that gradually killed off Holla Forums interest in tf2c. By the time he realized it, weekly activity was at an alltime low and we got one final brief period of fun when Alpha finally got a better server. I'm trying to remember the other guy that hosted between them and he was good too. The point is that tf2c lived because of the micspam and custom stuff and what dealt a critical blow was no fun allowed policies. Alpha, humongous faggotry aside, understood that even if it was because he wanted attention. Besides, you could bully Alpha the entire time and until your heart's content and he wouldn't ban you.
Literally no one plays it anymore and hasn't for almost a year. Every Holla Forums server went down shortly after march. The devs abandoned it in February shortly after a coup.

The competitive scene is undergoing a change, but it's not really a good one. CEVO and UGC are memes, ESEA is dead in the water and FACEIT is not a replacement.

You know what kills me about this game? Its humor died and no one noticed until the F2P update.
The one thing that got me so much into the game other than how different it looked was just how fucking funny most of it was, from a drunkard nigger swinging his liquor while all the other people are properly equipped to the whole concept of two bases sitting right next to each other taken to their extremes. But the one thing that was holding all of it together was the fact that everyone in-game and through the levels were taking it all completely seriously, so the Spy could use a printed photograph as a disguise, spout fitting Bond-one-liners and no one would point that out. Then they up and fucked it all thanks in good part to the disgraceful comics, the CalArts humorous "lol this is so random" lines and the total inversion of the character traits, so now Scout isn't just an annoying Bahstahn prick with a baseball theme, now he's Finn but even more cucked and trying to impress invisible ladies, or the Soldier not taking anything he says seriously any longer. Even the humor by the people making videos and content for it was so much better.
I got turned off from it a few days after it initally launched due to how fucked the balancing was. I was willing to learn the game but if your team started to lose towers the game was essentially decided. It was depressing, because I actually enjoyed the engineer classes.

Its design is fucking amazing, its characters, world, music, artwork is top notch
In execution it is by design a MOBA
-You cannot do anything by yourself
-Everyone is bullet sponges
-Game is drastically slowed down to the point it actually affects your aim
-1 vs 1 is never a thing unless you're an "ambush" class because damage output and TTK is so high
-Overwatches fastest character is slower than TF2's slowest class Heavy (With proof)
-You are 100% reliant on your team mates to do anything period, effectively skill capping even the best pro of pro's because you could be an aiming god and still will lose a match if the other 5 people playing with you are pants on head retarded (Which is %99.9999999999999999999999 of pubs)
-Maps are linear to the point where almost every major enemy entrance is always within 90 degrees of the players view, every map is full of nothing but bottlenecks with no way of being allowed to go around side entrances to strafe enemies
I could spend all day how overwatch gets everything wrong as an arena shooter, and is a watered down MOBA in disguise
it's too cluttered, there's no elegance and it's too reliant on fanservice
