What do you want to see?

What up Holla Forums.

I'm Cavalry user. Some of you may have seen me around, and others hopefully will get to know me a bit better. A year or so ago my housemate and I were smoking in our backyard, and every time we did we ended up listening to some awesome music and then just talking shit. But usually when it ended up my turn to talk shit, I ended up ranting about shit related to communism. Wage slavery, the Spectacle, how capitalism really works, and etc. I mean, it was cool and all but I never really thought much of it until he told me one day that "dude, you should really start making a YouTube channel or some shit". I batted around the idea and ended up asking him how I'd even get started. My housemate being a cinematography major showed me a few techniques and what not for video production and ended up pointing me in the direction of a DSLR.

Well, it's been about a year since then and I still haven't published shit. I'm really conscious about putting myself out there as anyone would be, as well as possible professional backlash from such a public display against what people take as religious dogma (capitalist culture, etc). I make a whole bunch of videos where I talk about shit, and then delete them because I just don't find them good enough or any other plethora of reasons. I recently showed some to my gf and she basically scolded the fuck outta me about being that much of a coward. So, here I am. I'm going to start making some and publishing them, because god knows we can't have faces like Jason Unrooha, or teenagers like Muke and LSR represent Leftism. I want to show that functional, rational adults who aren't spergs can make leftism a viable and even an attractive intellectual choice in today's world of loud noises and unfiltered posturing. I've got a good camera, a good directional microphone, and spare time in my last semester of school to dedicate some time to it. What I wanted to do in this post is throw some ideas I have for videos at you and hopefully get a gauge of some shit that YOU guys want to see talked about.

Here's my list so far:

- The Spectacle: Living a Dead Life
- Cultural Appropriation: What It Really Is
- Myths About Socialism (this one will be multipart and include shit like muh big government and position on gun ownership
- Why Trump Is Just a Symptom
- Contradictions of Capitalism (also multipart, where I look at examples of how our culture displays the contradictions of capitalism in plain sight)
- How Capitalism Waters Down Sports
- Addressing "Brocialism"
- I'll also talk about other shit I care about, like traveling, sports, philosophy and culture.
- Marx: Lessons From The Man (multipart where I talk about excerpts from Marx's work)
- The Plight of Both Sexism: Why Feminism and "Meninism" Must Give Way to Socialism

This isn't going to be some niche channel where I discuss theory no one understands in the mainstream. I want to reach people with sentiment any average joe can understand. Hopefully that gives you an idea of what I'm trying to accomplish.

I haven't made all of these yet, but I've begun to. But all in all friends, I'm asking for help and suggestions about any other topics you'd like me to talk about. I'd also welcome tips about production, as I'm an amateur at this all the way. I'm asking for any help or tips you can give, although I'm not saying I'll necessarily use them I will appreciate all I can get. By the way, if anyone wants to see an example of other work I've done I have three published pieces in the bunkermag under "CagyProletarian". I just want to do my best in this moment that I personally can in the collective effort to hopefully one day bring about socialism or at least the beginning of it. Thanks for reading.

ctrl +f : shit

satire is the way to go my friend

Honestly I think the spectacle video and the Cultural appropriation videos would be a good start
Not too commie but if they're good it'll build a sense of raport with your potential audience and would make talking about socialism easier for them.

I think you've got good topics, but the main thing is the ability to explain socialism(and communism and anarchism and marxism) well without requiring your audience being read on theory. That isn't to say you shouldn't encourage them to read, in fact you should link articles or text for those interested, but approach it from the angle that you will be educating these people and explain it in a way most will be able to understand. The biggest problem leftists have in reaching people is that they're not schooled in our jargon or understand out terminology so we may as well be speaking a different language. Then there's having someone who doesn't look like a sperg or pubescent talking, but it seems like you've got that covered.

So I'd start it with something like "What is Socialism" where you explain what it means and different interpretations on it/how to get there and debunking the myths. The I'd start splitting videos between explaining certain phenomenon through the leftist lens, videos on different theories/historical figures/events, and a few about sports, culture, philosophy, food, sex/relationships, etc.

The main thing I'd stress is try to do videos on subjects that aren't talked about much. Something a friend of mine who reviewed indie comics, books, and films said to me once is that he didn't see the point of writing a review when there were several to hundreds out for it already and preferred to shine a light on something that was fairly unheard of. It sort of stuck with me and while videos about socialism are probably less in number than reviews of shitty Marvel comics, I'd try to avoid videos about something there's many of already(like say Lenin) and educate people on something they likely haven't heard about.

user, here's my advice:
DON'T BE A YOUTUBE TALKING HEAD.
Make videos if you want, but it's totally pointless and stupid to put your face all over the internet. Instead, make video montages like Adam Curtis does.

this, or you could make a mix of the two like stimulator or kapitalism101

This

He is wasting time. New medium is memetics/aesthetics. Express yourself to destroy the capitalists consensus trance

Good luck famalam.
I'd love to do the same thing, but with my job I'm concerned about the consequences (working in the public sector).
I have been considering doing a reading club here though. I am woefully under read and I was considering making a thread where I read something, ask idiot questions and hopefully I can get some other anons into reading and break down this mentality of "I haven't read anything but I don't want anyone to know that"

Yeah, we have enough talking heads.
But don't be ancap ball or whatever is name is either. You don't need some idiotic persona or cartoon, just select images that make the point clearer.

Sorry guys, but what you're talking about is just not possible for me. I am entering the full time work force again, and between trying to pay rent and also maintain my social life I don't think I can gather all that footage and also take the time to edit all of it so it is coherent with what I say. Although, I'll say it is a brilliant idea.

What I was aiming at was not just me talking into a camera; instead it was more me doing what Jimmy Dore or that idiot libertarian Crowder does which is talk into a camera but also display images in a "news board" style right beside myself. I think that's the best I can do with my time allowance.

I'm also afraid of that, but its a risk I'm willing to take given my passion for the subject. I mean, personally I decided that unless my supervisors or interviewers were huge YouTubers or something they would probably never find out anyway. Its also illegal to fire someone for what they do in their off time. But I am alas, still wary of what you're talking about.

Tell that to all the shitposters who have been fired for offending le idpol fags

Be careful user. Do not put your face to radical ideology of any kind. Porky is more pernicious and cautious than ever. They search soc media especially at nicer firms.

If your videos get popular don't let it get to your head like so many other YouTubers. The message is what's important, not you.

You should start with something like Myths About Socialism. It's important that people who aren't quite there can find as much people pointing out that maybe Marx didn't write about taxes, state ownership and gulags.

"top 10 myths about socialism"

It sounds like you're on the right track cavanon

Then you don't have time for any kind of video project. And if you're just rambling into a camera, unless you have a spectacular personality and you are really good at impromptu speech, nobody will want to see that.

I will get jumped on for saying this but take a page from the atheist youtubers. Look at how dominant they have become. If the "be a bombastic assholse" strategy is applied to communism on youtube, it may actually spread. You yourself compare capitalism to religious dogma. Many of the same approaches should work. Always make sure to be mocking and silly. Being silly will keep the capitalists from taking you too seriously, while wrapping up the message in a humorous package that makes it easier for normies to digest. You posted Carlin in the OP so you probably get how that works.

Also, response videos are like the hottest shit right now. Take some Prager U videos and explain how fucking ideological that shit is.

Fair enough user, seeing as you have no idea who I am or what I look and speak like. But I won't be rambling, it will be scripted and rehearsed.

I unfortunately don't agree with the bombastic asshole approach. It may work for others, but I'm trying to open minds and persuade and not ridicule others. I hold the material conditions thing to be a rock solid foundation of my beliefs, and I can't ridicule beliefs that I know come from somewhere for a reason.

But response videos are a good idea, thanks user. Maybe I'll warm up on that Unrooha guy.

Something that can keep people's attention with visual aids. Get a good animator and you'd probably be the best source to send to normalfags.
