Works fine for doom clones, specially Heretic and Hexen. Placing change select item to F makes you screw up when you actually want to use said item due to how close both are. C is already for toggle crouch unless you use Caplocks which is retarded for other reasons but whatever but even if you don't use it for that, it's akward to use it like that.

ESDF for moving, Q for use, W and R for learning, A for ducking, shift for sprint and MMB for reloads which lets you be able to reload and move in any direction while also keeping duck, jump and sprint available, and if you need it G for medkits, V for voice, tab for weapon wheel/options if the game has that and z for prone

Considering I use my keyboard with my right hand, so wasd is fucking cancer, meaning I'd have to use my pinky finger to press F or my ring finger to press E I'd pick E.
Or you know, just rebind my controls because I'm an autist who has to have my keyboard just right for every game I play.

Speaking of autism, after getting a good run in a certain game, I would make marks around my desk of where my body parts were. When playing again, I would make sure my body is in the exact same position as it was before. I refused to move my chair even slightly, and I would not change the volume setting on my speakers. I took it farther by noting which clothes I was wearing, the weather, the food I ate that day, and other things to try to recreate it hoping that it would make me play better. The results were limited. These are the kinds of things that grindy execution based games make someone do.
