Android Thread

I know mobile games are fucking cancerous and hold a huge stigma on the industry, but I've been using my Galaxy S5 a lot more for emulation lately since getting a decent Bluetooth controller.

Anyone have any know-how of what the best emulators are and where to get them? The Play Store is just a wasteland of shovelware and I've given-up looking there. I have a few other questions as well:

android is just linux without the gnu userland
so its pretty much nogames

just google jfc

There's a series of emulators that are like GBA.emu, GBC.emu, etc. They're free and good, or you could go for Retroarch. I don't know about Drastic, though.
Also there's a port of PrBoom and a bunch of Quake ports on F-Droid.

...

This is semi-on topic but Advance Wars and Fire Emblem are perfect for emulating. I've been really enjoying playing through FE, it's a pretty comfy game that has a good amount of challenge and thought, too. Add Golden Sun and Superstar Saga, and MyBoy is practically the only vidya-related app I need.

Downwell is an excellent game I would recommend to anyone. Fun combo system, hard, replayable, and enjoyable in short sessions. It plays to the strengths of the mobile platform without neutering itself for it.

I can't get a decent Bluetooth controller. The best I ever got was a keychain mini controller, but every mini controller has a shit joystick. What I would do for a decent "modern" phone that has a half decent keyboard. They use to put overlays over them that where easy to carry with your phone. Really you can adapt if the phone had a decent qwerty keyboard.

Also, Moga proprietary drivers scary the shit out of me. Anyone know if its legit? Not that its at all convenient to carry a Moga controller with your smart phone. Shits bigger then most phones.

Are there any good up coming smart phones that actually have a physical qwerty keyboard.

Much appreciated. The .emu emulators are pretty good from what I've used so far, Retroarch is nice too but it'll take some fiddling to make it work. Never heard of F-Droid but I'll check it out.

Moga controllers are fucking trash, avoid them at all costs. I purchased one previously and never got it to work correctly. Developers barely support it anymore (don't even know if they still produce them either) and you're better off getting any HID controller.

I got the Beboncool controller in the OP pic, it's not perfect but it's affordable and connects without any major issues.

Sadly doesn't look like any physical keyboard phones are coming out anymore. iPhonefags and Samsungfags ruined everything. Next phone I might get is the special version of the Asus Zenphone 3, it isn't too outrageously expensive and the specs are mind-blowing for a cell phone, putting it almost on-par with my laptop.

While we're on the subject though there is the GPD XD handheld that runs on Android, it has a nice DS-like form factor and physical buttons built-in, though I doubt it could function as a proper phone who gives a shit. Only problem is that it isn't cheap from what I can tell, $200 at the absolute minimum.

Even better is the GPD WIN, which runs Windows and has surprisingly confident specs, granting access to much higher-quality software.

USB Host adapter + Xbox 360 controller works, but it's a bit much to carry around. I wish the Xperia Play was still a thing, it was amazing for emulation but, like all the cool Android phones, it's stuck at Gingerbread.

RIM switched to making Android phones now. They're working on one called Mercury, which is kinda like a more normally proportioned BB Passport.

Seriously what is it with Sony having great idea's for hardware only to drive those products into the ground with terrible software and zero support.

I had hoped Microsoft would step in and give it try with an Xbox phone or something after buying Nokia with a similar slide out controller as the Xperia Play but it seems the entire smartphone industry seems deadset on fucking useless gimmicks like 3D screens and stuffing more mega pixels in the camera's to the point of diminishing returns.

You can flash a custom ROM to the xperia play and get something newer than gingerbread. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get the official PSX emulator to work on CyanogenMod. I could probably fix it, but I'm a lazy fuck.

retroarch
also since it's open sauce you can compile your own optimized version and get better performance/battery laifu

I recently fell for the xperia play meme and broke my root. any recommendations for the shit hardware?

but the s3 was a good phone

i use dosbox turbo to play might and magic 4 and dungeon master 2 on long bus rides. really comfy the nature of the games compensate for the lack of a physical controller. some games work, some don't - some just require workarounds and a little fiddling. some games that work on dosbox turbo ($$) don't work on adosbox (free), so just yoho it.

Any good h-games? All I've got is a fairy onahole app. I've heard html based games run fine too, so I could throw Free Cities on there.

Install Cyanogenmod Gingerbread. It supports ICS but Qualcomm didn't release a driver for it, so you'll have shit performance with the ICS version.
Haven't used mine in ages, but last time I checked it wasn't that hard to flash.

I've got a Moga something or other (the small one). Works decently, but I'm open to recs.

Specifically, can anyone recommend a controller that would fit a Nexus 7? I like the idea of using it like a giant GBA.

the problem is my root is broken due to me being a retard, whenever something accesses root my phone just freezes up for a second and does nothing

Do you know what the fairy onahole app is called, I tried looking it up on google but I can't find it.

This

It's a custom OS but doesn't necessarily mean it's mobile only

I found it a couple of years ago on halfchan.

thanks

I reccently played through Tales of Phantasia on Snes9x EX+, the fact that it had autosave, mening i coud pick up exactly where i left off made it very easy to pick up and play. I reccently started playing the soul blazer series and I pretty quickly realised that I needed more accurate controls. Do you know some good controllers/joypads for an android smartphone?

You can fix that by flashing a new ROM. There's even a port of Lollipop or Marshmallow, don't know if that has the same issues as ICS

Link to a good copy?

Any cheap HID/IME controller would be fine. More expensive controllers fail to justify their price with their mediocre if not shitty build quality.

Avoid MOGA controllers, they're terrible, worst of both worlds.

What would be the best emulator to play mobile shit with smoother controls?

What on PC? I guess Bluestacks. If you're looking for smooth controls though good luck.

I just need something that can run YGOPRO for android since the FPS keeps dropping even after messing with the system configuration like everyone says to.

I got Moga to work pretty well with a third party driver but the weird thing is, in order to get it to work, it had to "take away" the functionality of the touch screen keyboard. Not the touch screen itself mind you, but the keyboard wouldn't be able to come up. Didn't really bother me, since I wouldn't be using it anyway, but you have to play paddy cake with the settings sometimes. Where sometimes the button to "switch them" worked, sometimes it didn't.

If Japan loves mobile so much, where the fuck's the porn games?

Dlsite maybe? I wouldn't really be able to check since I can't read moon.

That's what PCs are for

There are a fuckton of lewd mobage. Some of the shit on just Google store is pretty lewd but if you want actual nudity you'll have to go to places like DMM or download them directly from the games' websites. Obviously they're going to be in runes and in general stay alert around korean games because they like to censor that shit sometimes.

Also since most pc eroge have terrible gameplay the problem is even worse on mobile where the gameplay standard is even lower.

DMM?

Bump

Finally found an actually good swf player for any poor fellow mobilefags called Flash Game Player NEW.

Not at all creative, but at least it doesn't fucking fast forward through my porn games or outright not play them. Don't waste your time with any of the other shit in Google Play Store. The one by issess used to be my go-to, but now it's just being a shit.

You know all those grinders that are supposedly action rpgs but not really? Like Kritika or Dynasty Blades (that totally didn't steal everything from Dynasty Warriors)?
However shit they might be, I now want a proper diablo-clone but with more intense, musou styled combat, you know, wide swings and over the top super attacks.
It's a shame that only mobile shit covers this niche.

gud meme fam

What the fuck do I need to do to make pirate games just werk. I've had android device for years but never figured it out. APK name says patched and shit so it should just run, no?

explain

DMM, DLsite, and MelonbooksDL are sites were you can purchase doujin and game stuff of this ilk digitally

we mean explain what DMM means

unroot with supersu

That's exactly what he did though. It's a service where people who make games or shit that has tits or sexual content in it can distribute it since you can't do that on the Play Store. To use DMM you need to have a japanese proxy I think otherwise it'll redirect you to Nutaku which is shit.

But honestly sexual mobile games aren't worth playing. Just stick to the ones with cute girls doing cute things.

okay i didnt think i would have to explain this, but we meant the acronym, what does the acronym stand for? what do we search when we google?

How the fuck should I know what it means. I don't even know if it's an acronym. The name of the website is DMM.com. Did you even try searching for DMM you inbred idiot? "DMM game" if you really need to be spoonfed. But like I said, you need a proxy for it and if you can't even find the website I doubt you can handle one of those.

new xperia play when?

retroarch you hipster

console controllers are shit but they're your only choice if you're on android, any version of the linux kernel your phone uses should support 360/ps3 through bluetooth

I can vouch for the gpd XD. Bit expensive, but it runs everything aside from some psp games just fine.

What's a decent source for pirating APK's besides just torrent sites?

You have too root it to play pirated shit.

Speaking of which, anyone know if the LG stlyo 2 is rootable? google gives crap and vague answers

T-Aiko! is a pretty good port of Osu!Taiko.

I also use my phone a lot to emulate shit. Got myself one of those 8bitdo keychain BT controller just to play it on my lunch break at work.

Anyway, here's your list, OP:

Retroarch (all), PPSSPP (PSP), Exagear (some PC games like HoMM 3, Diablo II, Civ 3 and so on), My Boy! (GBA), FPSe + ePSXe (PSX), .emu family of emulators (various), Drastic (DS), Snes 9x EX+ (Snes), Reicast (Dreamcast), ScummVM (point and click), VNDS (some VNs).

I recommend installing the Aurora Play rom. Amazing performance, stable and bug free. Dont go beyond gingerbread or you break the touchpad support.

The Crazy Taxi port for andoid is great. The touch controls are ok, I haven't tried the motion controls though.

hello rato

I remember it being nearly unplayable on my phone, might have been an older version though.

Hello rato.

(Very noice)
The basic procedure for knowing if a phone is rootable is to look for that ṕhone model on XDA Developers

Apparently you're in luck, since there's a TWRP Recovery and Root for the Stylo 2, have fun.
