EVE Online Socialist Mining Corp - Building Space Communism

We're starting a Holla Forums Socialist Mining corp on EVE Online.

Join the channel Holla Forums if you wanna join.

No matter how new you are you're welcome to join in.

Here's how it's gonna work, copy pasted from last thread - though the set up does require a benevolent dictator to not run away with everything, that's why it's being run by someone who's reputation would be on the line (Muke):

Basically, start a mining corp and have corp hangers. Have two wallets as well - one for all the corp's money, one for the members.
All members put the products of their mining into the corp hangers and then this can be hauled and sold off together, the profits being put into the corp wallet.
You can then use this money to do things. Firstly, buy better ships for the members (who gets what and when is determined by the members, unless they're newbies and dont even know the difference between an exhummer and a barge) and then you can also put some money into the member corp wallet, in which all members can take from. This means the members themselves have access to a pool of isk for general things they need, it's size depending on their own productivity, but the main bulk of the corp's money isnt open to be stolen by simply anyone.
As the corp grows larger, you can begin to implement more layers of the wallet, more trusted members having access to higher levels which in turn have more isk, and they can also help with filling other divisions of the corp wallet for members, and you just keep pooling the fruit's of everyone's labour together through the corp hangers.
To top it all off, make sure all the decisions are made by the members democratically.
So this is, of course, dependant on the benevolent dictatorship of the owner of the corp. There is no way around this due to the way the game is made, which sucks. You can try do some fancy stuff with shares, but at the end of the day, if you're trying to vote out the CEO with those shares, they have plenty of time to take anything of value from the corp if they want.
If you wanna give this a try though, I'm down. I've done it on small scales before, and it's really fun, you get a great feeling of working as a team and when things really get rolling you actually have access to a surprisingly large pool or resources all together.

If you do the member wallet amount say, percentage based, this means if someone were to take all of the isk inside, you know how much you've lost and you know you can replace it. Furthermore though, before you replace it and hope you dont lose it a second time, EVE will allow you to see through the wallet it's self but also API checks who has taken the isk and when, as well as items as well from corp hanger checks and again the API. This means you can see exactly who has what and who's taking what, so if someone does decide to steal all they can, provided they don't have too many roles, they will be promptly kicked and your operations as a corp haven't been hindered too much.

Fuck off. I had my suspicions this board was full of 11 year olds, but this proves it.

"Fun" isn't going to free is from capitalism, so no thanks

How cute. You'd be better off claiming a W-Space system and taking advantage of all the sites there. Or, if that's not interesting, run salvaging/hacking sites in nullsec.

I know very little about EVE, will you show me the ropes if I join the channel?

Yea I know, this isnt really for the profits but just for the fun of it. We're mostly gonna be working with newbies, I assume at least, so hs mining makes the most sense.

We do already have two long term PvPers in the corp, including myself, so we might jump on our mains sometime and take people for a small gang roam or something. Idk, whatever people wanna do.

Yea of course.

Seems fun, I will download the game. It went f2p recently, right? Also, does Holla Forums have a discord channel?

It did yea, so you can jump right in for free.

And yes, unrelated to the corp though.

Got some links for the channel?

this game seems complicated as fuck

It has a steep learning curve, but if you have someone showing you how to do things it's not that bad.

If you can get past the tutorial, you'll be able to do at least the basics to make it once you've been dropped into the larger galaxy.

Ultimately the complexity extends to however deep you want to get into it, be that the humble but often flashy life of mission-running/mining/whatever, or up to high level trade and political manipulations where it becomes less space adventure and more complex number manipulation.

So from the time I tried this a while back its basically fancy farmville with point and click pvp right?

Everything is technically point and click…

The PvP is amazing, but we're just doing some chill mining socialist experiment. As I personally am a beast at small gang PvP, I will most likely end up taking people out on roams once we get the ball rolling, and that should be a lot of fun.

Until then we're building Socialism in space.

Is writing bots for this game forbidden?

If not, does the game have api's you can use or do you have to use the interface?

The game does not allow botting.

People sometimes still do it though.

Only really in the early levels when your arsenal consists of a gun and an afterburner. It gets a bit more in-depth as you specialize into different kinds of weaponry and PvP roles.

Unfortunately yes, though that doesn't stop a lot of people from using them regardless.

Lots of off-time with little hands on action, basically a skinnerbox where you log on to check on your shit, fix whats broken, and let it work overnight again. IE check your crops, but in 3d with spaceships.

Is the discord what this is being done through?

No, we're doing it all in game.

Depends on what roles you specialize into. If you go into stuff like planetary/structure management or construction, then yes, it will be mostly hands off. Stuff like PvP, missions, trade, salvaging, etc are all pretty hands-on. Stuff like mining, industry, and research are kinda middle-ground in terms of necessity for direct activity.

Skill training is very much as you describe though, though it does act as a decent balance to further promote specialization of labor.

Are you going to expropriate the means of production from the older and wealthier players?

Ah. The usual.

Yea, we're doing the best we can given the restrictions of EVE's mechanics. It will still be fun though.

Nobody involved at the start here really had that much in the way of means of production. What wealth we did have got put into the joint fund and is mostly being used to buy starter kits for joining players.

do you need a good PC to run it?

Not at all.. Though, EVE is a beautiful game, would be shame to miss out on the graphics.

i'd imagine we would be doing pvp as well so we can screech Holla Forums memes at scrubs

The link to the discord expired :(

Autism Speaks

Sounds fun

Are you that Maoist guy that said that socialists should spend all their spare time and money digging trenches and constructing bunkers?

Wouldn't an alliance of independent mining corporations adhering to a single charter work better?
That way you can operate on a shared ownership model while avoiding a situation where a CEO can run off with everything. It also scales much better than a single corporation.
And if the corp goes to shit or you disagree with its management you can just grab your personal property and move to a different one. Thus avoiding situations where you have to put up with people you don't believe are pulling their weight.

Overall I don't see much merit in mining though, it's generally boring, and a single raid or awoxer can set you back a lot. Though ice mining can be very lucrative.
I'd focus on manufacturing, W-space PVE and planetary industry (Just grab some high-sec worlds from Red vs Blue). I'd also suggest you team up with some traders (Oh no, porkies!), or at the very least teach trading skills to members.
Trading is extremely lucrative, secure, and with an industrial alliance backing you it can bring in a lot of ISK for it's member corporations.

Another benefit is that with an alliance backing you mining low-sec becomes viable. Same with local low-sec manufacturing and station trading.

WHY HAVE YOU BEEN RAIDING US?
NOW WE"RE NEVER LEAVING.
FUCK YOUR BOARD.

卐 卐 卐

Alliances cost 1b to create though. Maybe in the future.

Mining is boring yea, that's why we're gonna get some PvP roams going too, we will have the isk to give out T1 frigs for it.

As for awoxers and raids and spies or whatever, I'm extremely experienced in running corps and alliances, it's gonna be pretty hard for someone who wants to fuck things up to get in. Also awoxing is banned now (I actually hate CCP for that though).

I'd be up for ice mining, trading and wh fun times in the future for sure, but right now all we really can do with our little amount of isk and mainly alpha clones is regular mining. We just need to get the member base first, then we can focus on where the big bucks are.

Why dont you come join fam?

Create a good charter and ill fund it. This has my curiosity, and I still have a load of isk laying around on my old account.
Besides, this is a good excuse to meet other socialist minded people outside of local events and idpol obsessed subreddits. (Pol has been doing stuff like this for years)

I'm still more comfortable with an alliance of small corporations though, but if you can give me a link I'll check it out.

Well, join the Holla Forums channel and we can talk more man

I keep getting emails from these clowns trying to get me to play their excel sheet simulator. The last time I did was something like 2009? con Goon Swarm

The only thing that makes me hesitant aside from the massive time sink is the knowledge that the devs like to fuck with people just because.

No they dont?

is there supposed to be anyone else in the Holla Forums channel. I dont see anyone

anyone on?

can someone update the discord link

Who are you and why would people be emailing you?

It's late tonight. You're better off trying tomorrow: we had people on earlier.

Holla Forums threads are alright
ive heard this game is free to play for low level now

Will join Saturday after exams. Looking forward to getting into EVE again. Was fun the last time, but leftist corp is what I always wanted.

We're at 6 members now, all active. Not all of them are from leftypol but that's fine.

yea it is, you can get mining at least straight away. I havnt looked into the limits for PVP but I will soon.

Awesome, just join the Holla Forums channel when you can.

How do I find the corp?

You join the Holla Forums chat channel.

invite?

I keep trying to kill people but I keep getting rekt by someone call concord

You just type it in on the in-game chat.

That's the NPC police. Don't attack randoms in high sec space.

I am in the channel. Can someone invite me?

How fares the space communism?

Is everything on fire yet?

Still early days but so far our growth is going really well and everyone's getting on.
