He just wanted to lift and get fit with who he thought was a real friend ;_;

...

...

I hear you, bro. Danganronpa gives it rough at the start.

Only because I happened to finish her free time events just before the chapter kicked off. I held on until the very end for some surprise twist to exonerate her.
Looking back I don't remember exactly what got me so much but none of the cases effected me like that one

He was basically me and I wanted to protect his smile. I still need to go through The Answer.

the only good thing about that game was the spider porn and fish abs, but the fish bitch was ruined by being a dyke.
as for my answer, i always felt bad for letting my cpu teammates die in edf.

maybe she reminded you of someone?

I hated that I had to kill him, when I agreed with him about literally everything.
>>11111111

I was fucking sure they did.

Let me save you the trouble. He's not fully dead, his soul is basically the door preventing Nix from reviving, even after his physical body dies. Elizabeth tells Aigis that she's planning on freeing him some day and because Aigis is an unaging machine that she will live long enough to help. Or something to that effect.

I don't think so. More than likely just a matter of really wanting to protect that smile

Not a video game.

He went out like a man, give him respect.

Not a video game.

Not a video game.

Not a video game.

Though I recently learned he didn't die, he just turned into Peco.

Seriously, what happened to that thread I made about vidya characters you were forced to kill? I didn't delete it. Did someone spam it with CP while I was playing video games?

are you serious nigger?

...

She was too good for this world.

...

I understand that feeling man. Being a gymbro, I would have totally helped Chihiro get past his complex and get fit, because I had the same type of complex. Really hit me in the gut.

...

You're a double nigger, you know that?

you can't save him you fucking retard, he dies after the last boss either way

I fucked up on all my choices and got everyone killed on my first BO2 playthrough; it's a shame BO3 had nothing to do with the first two, and went back to a linear shooter with no choices.

Do you have brain problems?

You almost make it sound like the former is worth a playthrough.

You can argue that MGS2 is a video game, but it's "play" time is around 2-3 hours to 6h of cutscenes and dialogues.
JRPGs are less interactive than point and clicks and shouldn't be considered video games though.

Do you?
it's not directly in the game though, but devs confirmed the he dies either way

I'm glad I'm not as retarded as you are.

You ARE retarded if you think JRPGs' menu navigation is "gameplay".
DVD movie is just as interactive.

Nigga, dev's headcanon is the only canon. Get over your memes.

:_;7

Are you so retarded that you're confusing JRPGs with visual novels?

So you'd accept it blindly if they said the whole game is a metaphor for the dangers of capitalism and takes place on the moon?

I did on my following run accidentally

oh
i though you were are a retard that thought dangaronpa was only the anime
turns out you are just a faggot

Visual novels are even less interactive.
But if you like selecting attack and watching numbers pop up without any thought then sure go ahead, grind your favourites.

Danganshitto is a bunch of guessing puzzles like Ace attorney. It's shit and is not video game.
Compare to that 999 thing had actual puzzles in it.

Filtered for being a dumbass.

you are making the argument that if the game doesnt have x hours of gameplay its not a game

so snes games that you could bit in 20-40 mins are also not videogame?

Chapter two literally fucking never, was just confirmed on modDB

I'm saying that if you can just press one button to finish a game, it is not a game.
Also nice reddit spacing.

Again, if it doesn't happen in the game itself, and is not mentioned anywhere else in the series, it didn't happen.

If Miyazaki came out tomorrow and said Snuggly the Crow is actually a sentient Boeing AH-64 with a light-bending stealth field that identifies as a bird, is that canon? No. Eat shit, nigger.

Yes actually.

It's not the game's fault that you're retarded. Not every game has to be MGS, you know?

Fuck, user, you scared me there. I thought you meant never ever never ever, but no, it's just the usual never ever on the ModDB page.

I dropped this garbage after the very first case, seeing how supposedly "detective" game doesn't give a shit about you being detective.
Enjoy your waifus I guess.

Fuck you why did you make me remember

But how would he fuck up the door? His tools were still in their shrink wrap. Did you read anything at all?

the problem with Duncans death is you don't spend enough time with him to form an actual bond to be honest. He just kind of shows up in whatever intro you chose and then boom you're at the battle and he immediately dies.

the possible deaths at the end mean more like Loghain who did absolutely nothing wrong or others

Are you fucking with me, or are you the most dense human on the planet?
I'm assuming your talking about the MC here. If so, yes. Those statements are correct.
Why would you even assume this? Why would the MC switch rooms if he did that?
How the fuck is this anime logic?
Yes. Yes you are.

Also, technically, you aren't a detective. Please don't reproduce.

He's clearly got difficulties with reading and is taking it out on the game to disguise his anger at his own ineptitude.

Duncan is a rogue, what could you possibly learn from a rogue mentor

fucker couldn't have taught an invulnerable battle mage anything

Take them for the other room he got access to.

To say that he knew door was fucked so nobody would though that he wrecked it. If he was the culprit that would be a natural thing to do to shift the suspicion off him.

You would be right if it weren't for Alistair's constant reminiscing about how Duncan acted like a father for him. And I genuinely liked Alistair and thought that Duncan would act like my own father in my new life as a Warden.

Except he isn't the culprit. That was the entire fucking point of the case, to prove that he is innocent.

And what room would that be? There were no tools in Sayaka's room. You'd know that if you could fucking read

The thing about Duncan's death wasn't that you were supposed to feel bad about it. You barely knew the dude. The trick was learning about him through your interactions with other people, basically finding out that he had been a part of so many people's lives that he could have been the protagonist of the game if set a decade or so earlier.

Essentially, by the end you change from thinking "suck he died and didn't tell me shit", to "sucks he died, lotta people depended on him and he really made an impact on them."

**Loghain was weak-willed and a spineless coward. He completely shit himself in his fear for Orlais and would have completely fucked over Fereldan if the Warden hadn't intervened. "Oh, the Blight is coming? Let's just kill the only people who can actually stop it!"

the king deserved it

Maybe one of the only good things about that game.

thats a good point. Plus you'd all be fucked without Flemmeth

who you can just try and kill later anyways for that sweet morrigan relationship boost, who again, fucks you over

Can't forget about these either.

I must be playing some pretty weak shit because I can't really recall character deaths of any kind, much less ones that got to me.

Though as a kid I was really haunted by Prince Albrecht's fate from Diablo (likely helped by the fact we were around the same age when the game came out). Kid did absolutely nothing wrong and got fucked over the hardest of everyone in that game.

Im a huge faggot for this kind of stuff

user was not touched by the berserker rage of Lord Caim

that was another

why Wolf, why did you do it?

Kid never should have been in charge of it. He wasn't ready. He deserved better. . . .

...

Sadly the king was also foolish and put his troops in a disadvantageous situation because of his overconfidence in them. Either Loghain's daughter or a hardened Alistair was what the nation needed.

Protip: if your plan involves losing your entire force if the reinforcements don't arrive, it's a bad fucking plan.

RIP joe

But they weren't waiting on reinforcements, they were waiting on a charge to the enemy's flank which they planned out beforehand iirc.

GET ON HIS LEVEL

Which is the reason I respect Bancho-sama-sensei-senpai-kun-san and that limp-fisted pseudo-savior is so pathetic in comparison.

Bancho doesn't pretend to be a messiah (and fails).
He just becomes Best Bancho so hard he kills Izanami

Abandoning the king is treason. Especially when your plan calls for defending the king. You conveniantly leave out the part where the King was in that position due to Loghains strategy. And he gave only the slightest protest at the king being on the front lines when he was nervous about the situation.

He obviously wanted King Cailan dead. And even worse, King Cailan was his best friend, or rather his brothers son. Who was also married to his daughter. He actually left his own family to die so that he might take power.

Pretty sure Loghain was saying that the plan was stupid the moment you meet him. But it figures that he would just voice objections and not take any actual action to stop it.

As I also mentioned, the man abandons all rational thought when the name "Orlais" is uttered within 500 meters of him. Idiot should have just looked in Cailan's gear chest for the papers.

DANGANRONPA 2 SPOILERS
Yeah the DR series has a lot of these. I even hated Ibuki at first but she grew on me quite a bit and her death was on par with Chihiro's in terms of giving you a haunting image to remember.

It was haunting as fuck until you find out what really happened. Her being told to hang herself and in that gullible state obeying would have been disturbing. Being strangled beforehand and the whole thing staged isn't
That whole chapter is a fucking mess. I'd wager there were rewrites and that chapter in particular got whacked.

Absolutely, every time I discover a body I stop playing for a bit and hypothesize how it could have gone down, and the series of events I came up for with that chapter was far more interesting and fucked up than what they actually went with, here it is:
But nope, they just went with DESPAIR LOL

I wouldn't be surprised if the order they wrote the chapters was 5-6-1-4-2-3 and they had to rush chapter 3 before release. I believe it was that order because I think the entire game was built around Nagito and that's really the only reason they went with the stupid simulation +
Monokuma hacking + brainwashing ultimate despairs thing because all of that is the only way to explain a murder with a motive as crazy as that. And the reason I put 2 at the end there is because Nagito isn't as big in it and it presents a slight plot hole in relation to chapter 5 (that the mastermind counts as the murderer).

Oh and I forgot to mention:

All they needed to do is actually utilize the illness and have the illness be consistent. Akane going from confident to crybaby and Nagito from brutally honest to pathological liar make sense but Ibuki was never terribly skeptical. With that in mind, why does Mikan suddenly get her memory back? She was clumsy, not forgetful.
Other than that, some dumb stuff could be trimmed. In particular, the trial segment that just clears up if Hajime saw the movie was really stupid.

I thought Ibuki's was fine not because she was skeptical but because she was a rebel that would never do what anyone tells her to do. It was just Mikan and she would have worked just fine as confident, manipulative, and not clumsy (which means she has the manipulation skills and physical skills to pretend like she was just as she always was, could have also been used to explain how she elaborately tied up Hiyoko).

My characters, they die so often

Those all hurt but you left out Shadowlord's daughter. That was the worst.

Both of you forgot pic related, I could bear that other stuff pretty well but Beepy and the shade devastated me.

...

Bitch wanted to frame your for a murder.
Mukuro is best. Or atleast, Kirigiri

Why do all my waifus suffer the same fate

Probably my fault for trying to ignore the story, but I never could like Duncan because of that.

I don't know why, but I never really was affected by death. Not all that severely.

STOP? I CAN'T STOP. THERE IS NO STOPPING. THERE IS NO STOP

They didn't even try hiding that it was inevitable for you.

But user beepy got out in the end he's very responsible for the events of neir 2

Gets me everytime when playing Darkest Hour or Hearts of Iron 3/4.

This scene was and still is fucking infuriating.
Of all the hundreds of thousands of locked and stucked doors in that game he could open that one.

She's not dead user, she comes back in the third game. She was best waifu though.

Fuck user I feel like shit now.

silly, user, humans are not worth saving, they are selfdestructive beings faggots, that is why aigis will wait for the humans to an hero one day and save him, to populate the planet with robot waifus and husbandos.
Its like you didnt understand the story.

...

The FMV kind of lessened the impact for me, but when they started playing the sad music at the End of Time, the feelings came back full force.

Duncan was either a huge cunt or bro depending in which origin you picked
If you play dalish he lies to you about your bro being dead and basically forces you to join, forces you to join him in human noble too

Fuck. I mean maybe he'll countinue it on Source 2?

It kind of is out of sheer curiosity. They somehow managed to implement several of these choices in a way completely seamless with gameplay unlike 99.999% of "RPGs" to the point where I didn't even know either Woods or Hudson could die like that user was implying. The Mason one in particular was great because higher ups tell you to take a sniper rifle and shoot this man with a bag over his head at some point in the campaign and they tell you it's the antagonist. If you feel suspicious of them, you can just shoot him in the leg and he will live but otherwise he dies. He turns out to be Mason and they don't have some big dialogue prompt that says "PRESS A TO KILL HIM OR PRESS B TO MAIM HIM" like you see in nuRPGs, because then you'd obviously get suspicious and just shoot him in the leg. Additionally it lets you choose your loadout in singleplayer which instantly makes it more of an RPG than a lot of shit nuRPGs like The Witcher since there's actual builds.

Unfortunately it's still a COD game with hitscan weapons, regenerating health, near mandatory ADS (can be alleviated in loadouts by choosing SMGs/shottys with laser sights), and it's slow as hell. Apparently BO3 fixes the last part but removes all the neat decisions.

Your loss, that part still makes sense to anyone who doesn't have a dangerous amount of autism and the murders get considerably better going forward.

Chapter 5 of DR2 is my favorite whodunit of all time and yes I've read some good whodunit books.

Is that for real or are you fucking with me?

I doubt the adorable shade child did though.

Both of them.

Character death that makes me the maddest is in multiplayer games

I wanna eat his boypussy

Hey Zero,
I had a lot of fun

The killing was hard, it was really hard, but

Sorry, there are a handful of good JRPG's out there, but the good ones are usually western-inspired at the very least.

The vast majority of them are just Chrono Trigger/Final Fantasy clones.

It's not necessarily the boring combat that turns non-weebs away from JRPGS. Western CRPGs do this, too. But the difference is that WRPGs at least have a focus on rolePLAYING by making the stats autistic as fuck, and making the world interactive beyond "talk to poorly written flamboyant villager"

I don't think RPG's inherently need shit like Choice and Consequences (although those do help), but at the very least implement some kind of reputation system and let the player have impact on things like other NPC's dispositions and how well a town's doing, etc.

There's just no real appeal in JRPGs. There's little to no abstraction involved in the worldbuilding. The stat systems are always simple. Only a handful of them have serious stories that are worth investing into. The combat system is sluggish and shallow. The settings are all the same, either steampunk or high fantasy - or both.

Overall it just seems that people play JRPGs for the same reason they play Bethesda games - they're just not very good at games.

VNs are video games? Since when?!

Since videogames existed as a medium.

Since mark said so.

...

FUCK YOU
I JUST FINISHED THIS GAME A WEEK AGO
WHY DID YOU HAVE TO BRING THAT UP AGAIN
FUCK YOU FOR MAKING ME FEEL LIKE SHIT AGAIN

wrong route and wrong ending fag

shit forgot the spoiler

Half-Life 2's story was alright despite what Holla Forums likes to say. A pretty developed world, too. I liked it.

Too bad HL3 never ever.

Jesus christ, I don't give a fuck about anyone's opinion on what a video game is. I just wanted to see a thread where everyone comes together and talks about video game character deaths that got us. Never mind that some of you probably are cancerous with your own tastes in vidya too. Probably someone who falls for the Early Access scams, plays Dota 2 and Overwatch in their spare time.

But discuss something like a JRPG or visual novel, and suddenly someone needs to tell someone passionate about a decent game that they're not actually playing video games.
And JRPGs have existed since the very beginning of video games. So I don't know what these people are getting so upset about.
Guess it's just shitposting.

Thanks fam.

Well, visual novels are arguably not videogames. I have no issues with anything else you said tho.

Lol git gud fag

False.

You're backing this up using no actual analysis and are only saying they are all similar because they have over-worlds, battle transitions and oversimplifying how diverse the combat systems between JRPGs are. Saying no skill is required despite the fact there are plenty of JRPGs out there that can kick people to the curb is stupid. That's like saying COD and Half life 2 are similar in that they're both 1st person, combat initiates in real-time and after most encounters you get a moment of down-time where someone talks at you and there are also gimmick vehicle segments and sometimes massive battles with friendly AI there to help you.
Your statements wring at best true of only older FF games and the uninspired Indie-wannabe-JRPGs you see on steam and not at all of the major or well loved JRPGs that exist whilst making no mention at all of the fact JRPGs usually blend into other genres like puzzle and strategy consistently.

The reason people are turned away from JRPGs can range from incredibly pedantic to being incredibly mis-informed. I know people who think all JRPGs are going to be waifu garbage and that Etrian Odyssey is only for lolicons. Also not all WRPGs are autistic as fuck and not all JRPGs are simplistic and easy to understand.

Reputation systems are garbage and this widely agreed upon. Also there are JRPGs that have choice and consequence in them and do have characters dispositions change according to choice. There are also JRPGs that have none of that, but instead have an incredibly unique battle system that you would never find anywhere else.

What I think you mean is that you know very little about them and are just making sweeping statements and that in actuality they just hold little appeal to you.

One more sweeping statement that's honestly retarded. I could say anyone who likes Racing games at all is bad at games as racing games consist of holding one button down and reacting to an obvious turn and thus they're casuals. Its just as stupid as what you've said.

Wrong.

I'd be tempted to say this was bait but the level of confidence that I can feel from all your statements makes me think it isn't. I don't even play that many JRPGs nor care for them much and I can already see how overly-simplified your logic is and how broad and sweeping you're being.

>comes back in the third game
>at the very end, and has zero relevance to the plot except for Haseo dropping the edgy facade and straight up hugging her
>the entire third game is rushed garbage anyway
>fourth game cancelled
>they shoehorn in Atoli as the love interest at the end against all logic
She may have ended up surviving in the end but it was a very hollow victory.

geese isn't dead, he got the scrolls that made hi immortal

No wonder weebs are trap loving faggots

Tell me more

They're still viewed as video games at the end of the day. Albeit, they don't really have any of the substance or mechanics of a video game. Got nothing against anyone who is basically reading a book in a virtual format.

Do what you want at the end of the day. But I'm just tired of people confusing JRPGs with visual novels.
When certain modern WRPGs are definitely close to being on the level of a visual novel with their mechanics and focuses.
Yet people have to generalize JRPGs as generic weebshit. Because they have some mental problem that causes them to associate the Japanese gaming industry with anime and waifus.
It's like they're more scared of changing their tastes and interests by playing a game outside their comfort zone.

Reputation systems are usually garbage as its less of a reaction to your actions and more of a reaction to an arbitrary scale of what points your character has in regards to. "EVIL REPUTATION or GOOD REPUTATION."
Much like Karma in Fallout 3.
Sometimes your actions are tied to this scale and go up even if those actions were done completely 100% out in an isolated area. Someone somewhere somehow knew you did the bad guy thing and now is scared of you. Also a reputation system usually opens itself up to being cheated around easily and most of the time doesn't actually offer much in the way of Roleplaying nor cementing your characters place within that world.

Sometimes this scale ends up inhibiting roleplaying. Mass Effect is an example of this. You can't be an asshole to the one character you hate because if you are you get Renegade points and miss out on the Paragon points you usually get. This will then lock you out of making certain responses as you aren't well-known enough for being one of those two archetypes. So in Mass-Effect you can only really play Ren-Shep or Paragon-Shep and anything unique is punished. In other games it turns issues into GOOD CHOICE or EVIL CHOICE limiting the ability for a situation to have multiple answers that allow you to define your character. OR in Mass Effect 3's case, if you turn down gay sex you get renegade points.

Fallout New Vegas has a reputation system for each individual faction and this is the only type that actually adds something to the game. Yet, its still limited and shows how its usually better to just have NPCs change their opinions of you based upon actions taken in quests/events to allow for multiple different choices to problems that can arise.

See you on the crossroads.

Danganronpa was kind of shit as a game though.

It's XJ6. Step it up, sonny.

I felt worse for those two than I did for anyone in Nier.

Mehmed done nothing wrong.

...

I remember Ascalon. This man was a hero who fought to protect his nation. Fuck NuANet.

They both went down like badasses, but that won't stop me from shedding manly tears over them being gone.

I cry all the tears of my body and soul at the end of the season one, and it was way to fucking worst in the season two, why the hell this game is so well written ? ;_;

It's not, you're just underage and fall for blatant and obvious emotional manipulation from a shitty interactive movie.

1 was such a fantastic game all-around. F.

...
