When you listen to people talk about the arts, there's two things they value: novelty and meaning. A work of art has to be as novel as possible, and it must have some kind of deep meaning or message or twist to it that really makes you think or makes you feel like you are thinking. Aesthetics and craftsmanship, though, are completely irrelevant.

Recently I've come to realize that I was always a natsoc/fascist at heart. I've always been obsessed with aesthetics, and my first political inclination was republicanism. I had a phase post college where I thought New Deal economics was just more effective, because the propaganda and (((data))) is convincing if you have never really been exposed to anything else but neoliberal/trickle down bullshit. So you conclude that this Keynsian stuff is the way to go. But outside of that leftist sensibility was brainwashed into, I was always a racist and homophobic, but uncomfortably getting less so over time. I just didn't think that demographics mattered as long as whites could be tended to economically and not cast asunder for corporations and international jewish banking interests. It all clicked when I realized that demographics are at the heart of things, and that you cannot sustain the America our ancestors built if it's run by a Jew elite and the populace is essentially parallel societies of different skin tones, most of which are low IQ and more prone to criminal behavior than us Europeans. Then the redpills come and come, and you just see the poz and the Jewry everywhere, in every modern building, in all the furnitue catalogues, and it's obvious that the destruction of aesthetics and classical European styles is part of the psychological warfare being waged on us.

SG is certainly contentious, but I'm an Assadaboo through and through, despite having absolutely nothing to do with Syria them geographically of ethnically. I've just read a lot on Western media lies and the whole Arab spring plot.
That being said, that photo is actually an Iraqi T-62 photographed in 2004, but likely knocked in the 2003 invasion. Aside from that, I didn't have any politics going into making it, I just thought that it was a good image for it. The original is attached.
"Fashwave" is absolutely pathetic and I'll tell you why. Vaporwave uses 80s imagery and sound samples specifically to evoke the Japanese economic bubble and prosperity experienced during that decade, and the optimism everyone back then had for the future. It slows down and distorts those samples to exemplify the slowing down of the people who lived through those times, and the slow gradual fading and distortion of their memories. Vaporwave tracks often have dissonance or droning undercurrents throughout that give a looming sense of dread and loss, because the future that people living in the prosperity of the 80s never came to be, and that sense of optimism is gone and dead.
"Fashwave" is just a mish-mash of ancient high art with the same 80s imagery, yet the 80s has absolutely nothing to do with ancient statues or aesthetics. Throwing VHS filters and Japanese text over an ancient Roman statue is an absolute insult to the legacy of ancient Rome, for example. It's as if the movement is perpetuated solely by people who just think 80s aesthetics look neat and lack any understanding whatsoever of when they are and are not appropriate.
What on earth does Julius Ceasar have to do with VHS artifiacts? What on earth does Hercules have to do with primitive computer graphics? And how are these elements, combined, supposed to produce meaningful artwork meant to motivate, or convey a message to, a sorely deflated people?
The very materialism and consumer culture that its proponents claim to despise is a central fixture of its works, as the artform it so shamelessly rips off (vaporwave) uses imagery from that consumer culture to evoke nostalgia. But it serves no such function here, and is contradictory. You can't claim "we need to overcome consumer culture and return to traditionalism" while plastering a statue from that traditional culture with completely irrelevant and unsightly Windows logos and Japanese cars that have absolutely nothing to do with Western traditions.
"Fashwave" is a complete embarrassment and should be discarded as the garbage it is.

I kind of feel like what's important about fashwave is the conflict of the materialistic/consumer culture against the ancient grand-narrative heroes in statues or depictions of battle/struggle which the VHS filters are overlayed onto. I am trying to debunk nothing. The way so many on this board handle simple critique makes you into a caricature of what leftists imagine you to be. If that were the intent, why use such dated imagery as 80s video/audio technology? If the message is to break through the distortions of modernity, why not use imagery that is, well, modern? Maybe if you were to incorporate more internet/social media imagery juxtaposed with ancient works that would make more sense, but as it is these 80s nostalgia elements seem to merely be a remnant of the artistic movement it ripped off, without any adjustment or thought put into how it relates to the subject matter at hand.
If you hate them so much, then why not make your own AESTHETIC imagery? This is no different from those old medieval schmucks hating on Renaissance when it came out from Italy.

For a thread calling out modern art for what it is, many people here sure don't seem to understand what made traditional art good.
At best fashwave is shallow and ineffective motivational propaganda. At worst it's a derivative of another artistic movement that fails to understand the substance of that movement and only copies its style.
The idiocy of comparing slapping photoshop filters over photographs of old statues to Renaissance art is staggering. It is low effort and low quality. To produce the kind of art I would deem worthy would require significantly more skill than I currently possess, though I do wish to cultivate that skill and produce such works at some point. Until I do, I will not settle for the kind of low effort works of fashwave populating this thread. They're too simple to convey the magnitude of what is being faced in our times. That's why I referred to using ancient, glorious imagery in this way as an insult. I fail to see how it can be anything but insulting to that very history.

Nice work, if you look at my post you can see I've used a similar tool to you to do the scan lines, but I set them in a different layer and lowered the opacity so it didn't disrupt the image so much, I think it gives a better effect. Experiment with that and you might get less intrusive results

You're incredibly naive if you think that works like those found in fashwave are going to make even a slight dent in the Marxist propaganda machine. What you need to ask yourself is, what would your average normie think upon seeing their first fashwave image? Would it awaken him to the cause? Or would it merely produce confusion, or at best, an "oh, that looks cool"? I find the latter to be far more likely, if not guaranteed. If the goal is to rally our folk, we'll need far better than that.

I shopped some Mirage 2000s onto this premade backdrop I stole off the internet. Note sure what else to do with it, but I like the Mirages, I like the backdrop and I like the cyber exhaust plumes.
