The first two are basically visual novels with puzzles thrown in, and movies based on the Yakuza are an entire genre in Japan.

Ratchet and Clank had so much potential. But it was like they cut away half the movie and made it like watching the cutscenes in the game (half of said cutscenes were literally from the movie)

As an autistic Team Silent Silent Hill games fan, I think the first SH movie was OK. For starters, you can't fucking translate a SH game into a movie. The game was made around the fact that its a game and wouldn't work in another medium. The experience is completely different, you can't have a guy running around from one place to another with no dialog for more than 20 minutes straight. You can try abridging the running around parts, sure, but then you'll have really shit pacing.

The only real way to go about this would be making a totally different story, but in the same setting, and a plot made by Hiroyuki Owaku. But then the movie wouldn't really be able to sell well so it couldn't be a Hollywood production.

A big chunk of the first 20 or so minutes of Wall-e is nothing but Wall-e running around from one place to another with nothing but ambient sounds and the occasional beeps and boops from Wall-e. It takes a talented director, but it's possible.

Sure, that works. But then you have running around for another 20 mins. And then maybe 30 mins. And then another 20 mins. And then you end up with a 6 hours movie. You have to cut down content, and that ends up killing the pacing and butchering the story. I hate when they do that. I'd much rather have an original story written by the same Team Silent guys.

You can have a movie with the same atmosphere. That would be nice. Even nicer if they managed to make a decent story. But translating the exact same story into a movie wouldn't work.
