Give it a few months, another NMS will occur.

...

the tripleA full priced indie games? may happen after some time.
scummy indie devs? never

Doesn't matter, the game still sold 750,000+ units at full price. Devs are laughing all the way to the bank.

indie games will remain and so will the parasites using whatever trend is popular to get shekels. the only antidote is to be critical of games you are looking to buy/pirate.

King Liar still in hiding?

...

i remember reading about dewrito pope gonna pull him to talk about it in this year game show or something like that? take this with a grain of salt

I dunno, there isn't anywhere near as much of a buzz about indie games nowadays as there was back when Super Meat Boy/Isaac or Fez were really in vogue. Probably the fad's already well and gone given there's nothing huge coming out in that area besides Shovel Knight's King Knight/Specter Knight stuff and everybody knows a large amount of people related to indie gaming are scumbags or just there for the self-perceived fame.

There is absolutely no fucking way it is going to happen, but if it somehow does in the next few days it is going to be the funniest fucking thing ever.

Let them laugh all they want, because absolutely no one is going to buy shit from them ever again

My fucking sides

I think you underestimate the stupidity of the average gamer. Mean people dumped their life savings into Star Citizen demanding Freelancer 2.0 forgetting how much a turd Freelancer really was.

Don't worry goyim, they're really busy fixing the game!

indie games are the only shot we have to pull through this mess unless you wanna stay in a hopeless land where AAA devils have consumed everything you once liked. but theres no reason for it to be 'over' as anyone can grab some basic game engine and with some dedication get something interesting up and running

Fam, this is whan an indie game looks like.

What OP talks about are "indie games"

Everytime, also very surprising how everyone already forgot about the game

pardon my confusion

How is it even an indie game to begin with, they've had fucking sony sucking their cock for years.

they still somehow managed to bill it as an indie game

I don't think indie is dead, I think this is the bright new beginning of meritocracy.
Death to false advertising and con artists, long live talented and entertaining developers. Viva la resistance.

Indie games in general are fine, 90% of them are just little things that do their thing and that is it, problem is when they try to be bigger than what they actually are or try to tell some pretentious story.

Most of my recently played games are indie games, not because I specifically play them but because they just happen to be fun games that I liked playing.

What would you do if Sean Murray appeared one day and released the game we all wanted NMS to be, and said he's been gone because he was busy making it?

Dorfs and La-Mulana are indie games, this is just the vidya equivalent of clickbait.

but those games are also shit.

There's a lot of not known actually good indie games around.
They're pretty much all I play lately.

Also No Man's Sky wasn't indie, might've started as indie, but the end product sure as hell wasn't.

Is Endless Legend an indie game?

*was

If it had pixel graphics and was mostly in 2d, people would eat it up and you'd see a thousand "analysis" videos about how it's a genius game.

Shit like that has happened before, and will keep on happening, as long as enough retards "care" about vidya.

I'd consider it on the level of third party games
A step above indie

Nah, people will still buy their shit.

I agree on the first two, but Molyneux is done

I'd like to see the amount of recent sales

what was the last thing he did? the mining cube thingy?

Their office is abandoned, their twitter is inactive and they are nowhere to be found. They took the money and ran.

He made a phone game that he only released in the philippines

...

Never user.

Valve was very clear about it. They'll let anything through (except Japanese games).

No man's sky could recoup it's losses by adding sexual characteristics to the random generation, the furfag market doesn't care about quality

you have stumbled upon a platinum mine

Found Sean in his own little universe where everyone who thinks his game is great is with him.

you'd really need to be morally corrupt to even work on something like that

you'd need to be morally corrupt to scam people like they did, so I don't see a problem

bullshit youre just lazy like me

I actually did work on a porn game for about a year, and lemme tell you, you need to be morally corrupt

if it gets you shekels in an honest way…

I hope he did learn his lesson.

should have asked him about Scam Citizen too

kek
He says that now, but next time there's an overhyped piece of shit coming down the pipe he'll be right back on the hypetrain.

yeah okay, and im just a neet because i dont want to pay taxes and support the corrupt government

FUND IT

I swear

I only hope this shows """"""""indie"""""""" gamedevs that they can't lie about a product and put no effort into making their work while expecting them to be well received.

oh well in that case i have no choice but to believe you

As long as it sells it will continue

This indiegame early access walking-sim shovelware meme is, I'm sure, a conspiracy of AAA devs who fell for the "indie games will save gaming" rumor and decided to fund a bunch of tiny startups by hipster geek artures for the sole purpose of injecting the indie scene with so much cancer that it will never recover from the chemo needed to kill it.

user, you don't seem to realise NMS's popularity was 90% luck, it's unlikely they'll pull this off again.

It wasn't luck, it was Sony pouring millions into marketing and normalfags being clinically retarded and a prime example why universal franchise was a mistake.

That's what I meant, it was lucky they got the Sony deal. Sorry for not making it clearer.

Literally every cuck from the gamejournos clique was shilling it to hell and back

Pumping NMS was a huge work of coordinated effort by many shitty blogs and other ecelebs

It wasn't luck, it was no coincidence

Nothing gets that kind of coverage for free or by accident

then it would be starbound

You just need enough exposure and then if there is demand, it will sell. If the demand is that you get not even elaborately tricked by otherwise unsuccessful devs that is.

you severely underestimate the stupidity of "gamers". Most of them wore probably pre ordering other games as they wore writing negative reviews for NMS

No. They literally ran with the money, his name is tainted and he's never working in games again. The money he made isn't going to last long either.

the idea is now he goes in to game journalism with a fake name and others follow suit making scam games while he gives them godly reviews rinse and repeat

That's impossible. You need to register your real name when you start a business, which is required after a certain profit margin. People can get away with not showing their face, but essentially, there's no escape from a black mark in any industry.

Get your pessimistic head out of your ass, even if he somehow paid off enough people to register a fake name, he'd be under investigation by the feds as soon as he made a certain amount of cash, the system is not so easily gamed as you'd think.

Other avenues need a name AND a face, and the internet has made it MUCH harder to fool everyone. Face it, good things happen in this world, and there's no reason to be a pessimist, because it doesn't help you in life.

Pessimism is the worst thing to do to yourself. Stop.

Also records are easily found, and fake names require a lot of backing. If you don't register your real name with a business, and the business is found to have been duped, they're liable as well as you, so they have incentive to not cover for a faker, either.

This is basic US law.

im not emotionally invested in this at all i think its "hilarious". im just having fun imagining wild scenarios. but okay, thanks for the sweet talk.

If people were learning animals everyone would have been calling NMS's bluff at the very first gameplay video instead of just a small minority.

You need to learn about StarForge developer.

I don't know why I keep seeing people that say that Sean Murray/Hello Games got so filthy rich that this shit is irrelevant to them, but I don't believe that in the slightest. Sure, they sold a metric fuckton of units for an indie game at full AAA price, and it would make sense to assume that the devs are loaded now, but only if we ignore the following:

Did the game make back the cost of development? Very likely so, but I highly doubt that the devs are swimming in shekels, especially when you consider that whatever's left from the costs that I mentioned above must be split among the rest of the workforce.

They might have money, but I don't think enough for them to ignore working on anything alltogether.

Everything already looks like a penis, though.

I dunno, I could stretch 143 million dollars pretty far. Even once you pay off the debts to Sony to keep the yakuza from burying you in the Pacific.

Gamers are dumb. Attention span and memories of gold fish. Everyone boycotts EA until the next EA game announced. Then they buy it, get mad and boycott EA again. The "indie gaming" fad will never die and the games industry will never see itself parted from gaggles of fools wishing to part ways with their money. Every minute a sucker is born. I can't even begin to imagine the delusional mind that could ever entertain the idea that the bad shit in this industry could possibly get better with consumers leading the charge.

...

If I ever feel desperate for cash I'll make this happen

Does someone have the image with the Holla Forums group with almost everyone playing Fallout4?

Early access may have failed the last 99 times, but what are the odds it will fail 100 times in a row?

They've probably already rebranded, and are developing a new game with all that money.
Just expect Sean Murray to lie low for a while.
It wouldn't surprise me if all that DLC they probably made for No Man's Sky (And trust me, there is probably DLC) will probably combined with the old game with some assets added, changed or outright removed, shoved on stage at E3, will get praise for being "What No Man's Sky was aiming to be, but failed to be!" Hyped up to a ridiculous degree by the media, and then on release day we see a repeat of what happened with NMS.
Remember: Normalfags are dumb folk. They buy FIFA every year. It's the same game every time, yet they buy it. If they can be tricked once, they can be tricked again.

and everyone will be happy.

"Run an intergalactic sex trafficking ring or incite planetary-scale genocide! The choice is yours!"

I want this so bad. Destroy all those who will not submit to the dick.

When you sell millions of copies at $60 he doesn't need to make more games. The lying cunt can probably retire now.

Not that Finland Simulator is out

lmao
If anything, the industry's just beginning to realize the power of 'pseudo-indies' when one checks out the sheer profit margin of No Man's Sky.

finland simulator is made by an autismo car enthusiast, not some faggot in a SJW clique with a numale beard. it doesn't really apply.

The people who would join a public group explicitly for an imageboard administered by Mark the Cake-Eating Kike are irredeemable reddit-tier faggots in the first place. Just post the current user list, it's all the same no matter what they're playing.

Fucking hope so.

Suomi a best
Sweden a shit

How do you say "Suomi"?
"Sue-o me"?

It's closer to "soo-me"

Nigger, my boss, pre-ordered and bought this shit ans says that he wasn't disappointing because he never really knew everything about the game in the first place so he didn't get too hyped. I'm sorry man, but some people just love forced anal pleasure.

Either way it's a one and done tactic that can't be adopted by corporations. The fact that they actually had to fucking run with the money means that anybody who tries a No Man's Sky is just another scam artist, so it's not going to be an industry tactic at all.

He's going to be quietly investigated as well for this as it does count as fraud.

Considering how absolutely worthless the gaming press is. It's actually not much of a stretch.

Indie games are fine but "indy games" are cancer. Hopefully NMS will lead towards the end of this trend.

you understimate the retardness of normalfags senpai
