I pirated W10 about a year ago and have not had to deal with updates since then, i am not sure but i think newer games like Forza Horizon 3 will not run on this version for some retarded reason. IIRC, MS didn't care what version - legit or pirated - you upgraded to Windows 10 from… because the personal information they collected and sold to third parties still gets them paid. It's still filled with ads which gets them paid. And they'll still end up pushing a yearly subscription fee for you to access your computer.

Maybe there's a difference in file size in the different versions.

I just took this so it's not a fresh install. This is what / on Linux Mint looks like after 1.5 years of usage with only occasional booting into Windows. (On the other hand, the 1TB /home disk is almost full.)
Coming off Windows I had no idea I'd use this little space outside of /home.

No, only shows the SSD because my /home is on a separate disk, and my /tmp is mounted in RAM. The properties only shows files in that directory on the same partition. Here's my /home folder if you want proof. (It's still searching for files, but you should get the idea.)

you can try installing /boot on the usb stick and / on the ssd, plug in the usb when you need to boot then plug it the usb out since all the resources in /boot is only needed when booting up linux

I am under the impression you think i said "i want to install the OS on the hard drive" which is a really dumb statement, but what i really meant is having only the boot files there that is, using a really small ext4 partition which i presume at around 100mbs , and have the programs and the rest of the OS in the flashdrive, then unmount the partition with the boot files, just to make sure nothing is written to the non removable hard drive and thus leave no trace besides the fact a linux drive boots from there
