Tfw Holla Forums said this game is shit

Why did you lie to me Holla Forums?

Darkest Dungeon thread.

Vita vpk yet?

(checked)
I'd like to know this as well.

It's cool, but very RNG heavy, which is a huge turn off for some people. (Not that it's particularly worse than, say, XCOM in that regard.) I can take it or leave it myself.

Because it had the potential to be something truly great but it shit the bed

Wait a while, it will sink in.

The early game is actually quite enjoyable, later on when you realize it will take 6+ hours to grind out a replacement character for someone you lost it will start to wear off.

How'd it shit the bed? I'm 40 hours into it and it's fun as hell.

It is shit, just because you have terrible taste and low standards doesn't mean it's not shit.

It's too grindy for me. Early game is really fun but later on it's unbearable

Developers are no fun police and nerfed all the cool builds.

What the fuck, seriously? I haven't noticed any nerfs yet, what got nerfed?

The constant shit changes from early beta to removing all fun team comps/trinkets + monotonous horseshit grind etc. There was a time when the game was great, but now it's just a grind

Most people here who played the game liked loads of things, in the end the devs fucked it all though and it became a RNG fest shit game

What? I remember dozens of threads where everyone loved it during the beta.

Yeah I sound like I'm shitting on it but I do like DD, it's just that it could have been so much better if the devs understood what made the game fun

Lurk more tbh

These two things hit the nail in the head. You either really like it or you won't go anywhere.

Rip crusaders train and full jester party.

That's the problem, the devs changed the game a lot during and after the beta. I loved the game during the beta, but not so much anymore.

The Plague Doctor is adorable, but I might be biased as I have a thing for fully clothed girls in masks.

What? I thought Holla Forums liked this game. I sure do although it kicks my ass constantly.

Well the broken comps rendered the entire game pointless and boring. Why should I care about party composition if I can use 4x hellions spamming crit breakthroughs at zero light and remove all tension from the game? It stopped being about resource management and instead was about pressing 1 and click forever.

I'm okay with the game now. It is not something you binge play - I play it a few times a week to get my dungeon crawling fix. Very grindy and stupid party restrictions aside it hits the nail in the head in that aspect.

Agreed.

Rape mod when

what changed?

The Jews got their hands on it and sucked all the fun out

...

That doesn't answer my question. What changed, not why did it change.

Can you be more specific?

Read the thread, faggot. People have already listed builds that got nerfed because

wait, the Plague Doctor is a woman? I thought that was just some rule 63 shit.

Off the top of my head not counting character nerfs…
- Intentionally delaying killing the last monster to heal your party gives stress to your characters.
- Stress no longer caps at 100. To avoid people running Abusive (?) comps where everyone is always at 100 stress they added the ability for characters to have heart attacks when they hit 200 stress.
- Instead of every single ability dealing at least 1 point of damage (including pointing fingers) to the point where you could immensely buff an AOE attack and have it one-shot anything those attacks are truly buffs/debuffs (which was the stupidest change in the game IMHO)

Wow, this comment reads like a totally unbiased reply

BULLSHIT SON

I'll give you that, it's irritating.
I don't see why this is a big deal. I also like the threat of a heart attack if you fuck around. At least make "Heart Attack Mode" an option?
Agreed.

...

How the fuck is that biased you shitlicking fag herder?

it's a mobile grind RNG game. Nice art and style and tone, too bad it's a shit game.

Have you actually played the game? Numerous mechanics like Heart Attacks and Corpses are entirely optional.

I'm 40 hours in and I've only turned off tutorials in the options. I had no clue heart attacks were optional.

Ooooh, right. Corpses. Frankly that was a band-aid approach to stopping the whole "cut down the front row to reach the back row" problem if you ask me, but it did work on making people try out new compositions.

I play this as long term game which goes on for months playing 2 or 3 dungeons runs per session. If you're playing this just to clear out your backlog or marathon this it you'll get burned out.

Only reason why I think this is a positive addition.

It's really not fun. The devs just constantly make anything viable shit so it's a disgusting slog. A game is meant to be fun and challenging. Not unfair and boring.

Nice art but the animations are fucking atrocious

You are a huge faggot and you know exactly why

I heard they kept patching out fun for balance, which hardly makes sense unless they plan to go multiplayer.

I think it's just been released on the PS4 too.

This meme has gotten pretty stale.

...

FUCK DEVS THAT USE REDDIT AS A FORUM

PLAYERS ARE WINNING? END OF RINE

Fuck off, I watched some trashcan LPer on youtube who couldn't grasp fucking civ 5 perfect the game and never lost a single mission on legendary on his first run where he just fucking ran at objectives with no thought of positioning gets crazy fucking lucky with lowground to highground shots, then I watch another who's actually decent at strategy games and he gets rekt because he kept missing 95 and 98% constantly despite actually preplanning and positioning, but that's xcom baby right xD? Game is dicerolling simulator for retards who can't into any real strategy games.

His fault for not being more lucky. He should have gotten better luck.

XCOM's RNG is massively biased in favour of the player. You faggots are just terrible.

Yeah, I liked the first xcom until I realized that was the only way to really play the game.

When I first played XCOM on normal difficulty I didn't use overwatch a single time and still did great. In my second game I started using it, yes it makes things easier but you can definitely finish the game without it

Never said it was hard, I said it was shitty dicerolling simulator for losers like you who get their shit pushed in a game where skill is actually a factor.

But that's false, tile scanning / blind explosives wouldn't be a thing otherwise.

No OP. Why are you lying to me?

I liked the game until I tried the final dungeon. Fuck that shit.

The game was really cool until I got to the darkest dungeon.

Nah. I was already getting kinda bored with the fact that there's only 3 types of missions and all of them end the exact same way. Mission accomplished, here's loot and gold! Is only interesting the first 100 times.

why can Holla Forums not play a game the way it was meant to be played?

Are you fucking nuts? Those builds were fun to do in one or two dungeons, that's it.
Oh boy I sure had fun playing with one character soloing everything just because he was overpowered as fuck, right Man-At-Arms.

From all the fucking points you niggers could have said, you cry the most because the game tries to not be easy.

p r o j e c t i n g

I just hated it because it was a boring grindfest

It's pretty fun for a while but it has so little content that you're forced to replay so many times I quit about 1/3 of the way through the 3rd difficulty because I just couldn't bring myself to do all those medium-length dungeons in every area AGAIN to unlock and kill all the bosses AGAIN. You don't even get new skills or anything just bigger numbers on everything, the way you play is exactly the same. Not a horrible game but horribly wasted potential.

the irony

I'll admit it is a bit grindy but until higher levels, simply doing the LONG missions will level up your heroes in a short span of time.

Also by using camping skills to recover stress and cure diseases you can manage to continually go on quests with the same party.

Not only that but the item quests now give you positive town events for completing them and there's even random events that give you free levels.

I'm in the NG+ right now where every enemy has higher stats. I'm only allowed 13 deaths of which I only have 2 because my 3rd death came back from the grave, and I have to beat the game in 91 weeks.

It's really not THAT hard or grindy if you know how to properly manage your resources.

I like it, and I'm still playing in order to get my dungeon crawling fix. An expansion has been announced as well.

Also Grave Robber the best.

How? She ruins team composition with her movement shit but those are her only good moves besides the poison darts that is worthless in some dungeons.

Because she's cute.

Well I guess that is important for morale

Nigga the grave robber is one of the most versatile classes in the game

...

It's good at the start but it gets repetitive.

...

I can handle a little RNG, like random events and bad outcomes to actions you know might fuck you over.. but with this game it's like they couldn't figure out a good way to make things hard, so they just took some things entirely out of your hands, leading to RNG events that trigger RNG consequences, which lead to RNG damage and RNG outcomes, and should you survive, then you go to town where trying to help your guys recover is also triggers more RNG events…

And if you want to overcome that by playing slower and more carefully with grinding.. The game punishes you further.

Sorry, but not everybody enjoys playing like a scrub. It's a risk/reward thing. Live on the edge.

Faggotry clarified in a single post

People highly underestimate the importance of crits. With the right know how you can make it so everyone has a nearly 25% chance to crit which nearly insta kills most enemies.

The main deciding factor of this game is RNG control. It's all about tipping the scales in your favor as much as possible with each choice you make.

...

Sauce?

that is living on the edge, yes

Not to mention you're forced to let 2 characters die in the final dungeon on the final boss.
Shit's retarded

Any porn mods for this game?

it's not terrible, but the fact that the developers have confused "difficulty" with "let's just patch out every single strategy that the community has ever discovered and force them to die because it's like an allegory for the futility of life or something", i had a great time when i first played it, then came back a couple months later and found out that the enemies had been doubled in strength/HP, left corpses you had to "kill" to get at the sweet sweet enemies behind (even though those same enemies could ignore said corpses and attack as normal), etc. I just don't have the patience for it anymore. great atmosphere and art though

Holla Forums isnt one person faggot
Im enjoying Shadow Warrior 2 even though the reactions to it are mixed to say the least.

It's ok. Content is too front loaded. Some minor changes in enemies in the mid and high level dungeons, but nothing exciting. Middle of the game is a grind and boring. RNG can be too punishing even when you do everything in your power to mitigate it.

Devs didn't know how to create the rules they needed to get the play they wanted, which resulted in lots of changes through out the beta, and change is fertile grounds for saltiness to grow in.

Some good porn came out of it, so that's a plus.

Holla Forums never lied to you, user. Holla Forums is just schizophrenic. For example, I do believe this game is below average, wasted potential, but if you talk to me (Holla Forums) at another time, you will likely see a different opinion. You just have to get used to it.

You need to dig through their forums
whenever players found a really effective team set up the devs would proceed to nerf said classes into the ground
Plus mission variety is shit

this is a nice review of the game, has spoilers tho, also some of the things he critiques in the video have been fixed

Holy shit. See I liked the game even after some of the patches (helion shit, even my favourite 4 crusader build), but that is just bullshit. Why do I have to sacrifice two characters I built up, carefully kept alive and free of their goddamn traumas, just to fucking have to grindfest beyond an A team and a B team because the game is going to kill off my dudes? That's like the last straw for me. No fun allowed was what stopped me from playing for a while, but I don't think I'm ever going back after reading this stupid shit.

I remember being really happy that Dismas and Renauld are still in my main party and kicking ass until I stopped on my first save (In fact, Dismas is the ultimate, always gets kills, always has virtues if he ever stresses, deals tonnes of damage, gallows humour is amazing camp skill, etc).

The stuff points out pisses me off too, namely:
1. No more leaving last enemy behind (I used to do this all the time, healing with either my vestel or Occultist while one other character focuses on stress reduction, like the bard)
2. removing debuff/enemy targeted ability single damage (Used to buff these up to kill stragglers with 2-4 HP, fucks sake)

Basically everything is just anti-fun at this point, nothing makes you want to stick with the game. Shame too because I used really like the game, especially for when I have to do shit on the go or can't bring my mouse (like at cafes for meetups, etc).

You're not understanding but since you got spoilered I'll explain.

The game, like most lovecraft shit, is about feeling defenseless and being dust compared with what you're confronting.
So with this in mind, the final boss, who is easy as fuck, forces you to make a choice: Kill one of your heroes. When you do that, you can see what each character says, some welcome death, some cries for mercy. When you do that, later, the heart of darkness will ask a second and final time.
It would be bullshit if the game continued, but that is the end. There's 0 reason to continue the game further except for startin from scratch in hard mode, so losing those two heroes means nothing.

All of this is not "oh wow the game is shit they force two of them to die", it's all about the game forcing fear into you when you play it the first time, being scared of losing that hard earned character and being afraid of failing to kill the boss. But that is all, it is made to shake your heart.

The only problem this game has is the grind, it has been toned down yes, but it's still there. One friend of mine can't handle grind and just used cheat engine to give himself double or triple the reward each run (gold and heirlooms), which would be a workaround for those who can't into grind.

It's a stupid as fuck choice because you don't have to live with it outside of the crappy… what % exp bonus does each remaining alive hero give to other people?

It's really just there because the makers be retarded, wanted to shove a message in there, but didn't know how to implement it correctly.
Much like the rest of the game, it's a series of bad choices made to combat people actually enjoying themselves

It's a stupid choice because it doesn't matter.
They got scared of people whinning about "muh forced death" and did that, when faggots that can't into Iron Man mode will whine about it regardless, so the impact was (besides the cutscene) a minute or two during your first blind run.

Reading or watching the game ruins this way too much and being a little bitch even further

All RNG shit can be avoided, all those "insta kills" or such can be avoided if played well, and when you have doubts that you will survive the next encounter, simply abandon the quest, choose to live rather to risk it: do not fucking cry because you took a risk and did not want a negative outcome.

yeah surprise, it's a mediocre game made by bad devs who jack off about it being hard as opposed to anything actually good about the game

as desperation creeps in his weary mind the fanboy's butthole clenches in agony
