Tfw want to learn to make 3D anime girls

...

...

Dead or Alive realised that as soon as they had the technology that they needed to make them less anime looking and more realistic looking.

Anime is 2d, and making anime girls 3d with modern graphics makes them look like alien abominations in the face. You need to add some realism.

...

Well the guy who made those models in that video has been doing those for nearly 10 years, starting out with shitty ass fanart.

But be careful on that level of realism and how you shade the models because you'll be dipping into the uncanny valley.

I absolutely hate anime with a passion, but here you go. There's no reason why you shouldn't do what you want to do.

...

Or you could just stick to pure, better-looking 2D instead of jumping through all of those hoops.

I don't think you know what that means.

Modeling humans is particularly hard, but I guess it can be done if you have some dedication. Alternatively, get some shitty 3D porn game and make the characters there, they will all look the same though.

Isn't that the whole point of learning? So you can not suck at it?

Already at uncanny valley

Would a DOA:Retro using 2D anime sprites of its cast work at all?

I cant be the only one who think these bitches have fat faces

Not all of them have fat faces, but they sure have big and wide necks.

...

why does this shit scream "Koudelka"?

...

This is not /a/, /a/utist.

Some also have spindly hips.

This is something I see all the time from you faggots-
Or my personal favorite
First of all, you just fucking do it. If you keep doing it you learn, you get better.

It's either everyone is used to having a babyfied step-by-step process for everything that they became completely incapable of doing anything themselves, OR just looking for solace because they're a lazy chucklefuck that wants to pretend to actually want start a project.

Incorrect

Looks fucking creepy, even with -good- cell shading.

How? Are you daft?

...

...

Nothing wrong with getting a few good tips so you start off on the right foot.

...

user you know exactly what I meant when I said that and you're trying way to hard to take it out of context.

You have to go back.

No, you're the one generalizing. Some people want legit commentary on things and you're the one treating them like scumbags. No one was born perfect and doing something after getting put on the right track is infinitely better than "just doing it".

Back to Memes 101 with you.

Smilies and ugh aren't a necessary part of green texting, you have to go back.

Even fully disassembled into multiple planes she doesn't lose her smug.

I forgot to mention, that shit is stupidly high poly like all the animu looking cell shading stuff. Pic related are 124k and 212k polygons (left and right respectively), DOA characters are usually somewhere around 30k with some weird exceptions going up to 60 something. That's not even taking into account the additional computing power the Euclid system might demand. It won't be used on anything game related any time soon (well, maybe VNs as backed animations, but VNs aren't games).

fug

Just because symbols make you upset it doesn't mean they're not valid. Grow up.

Why do anime girls have such cute feet?

Just because being told to go back makes you upset it doesn't mean you're not from cuckchan, all the opposite. Grow up.

...

You actually defending the use of emotes?
Hes right you have to go back.

Unfortunately the old art proverb remains true.
There's no fast track. I've looked

Goddamn, you're a faggot. You already got btfo for being retarded, so fuck off already, you contrarian little shitcake.

Raging faggot.

...

PSO2 is the best 3D rendition of anime art style so far, without shitty cel shading too.

Entirely disagree. Guilty Gear xrd is in 3D if I recall glancing those threads. Also i'd rather have Live2D games.
pso2 is a terrible game and should be crushed for destroying what pso1 was

I guess you've never played an Atelier game.

1. Xrd looks like a gamecube game.
2. PSO2 is better than 1 in every aspect.
3. Unsage.

Have fun playing a game where you can't even go into Ultimate endgame and its been out for 4 years. Muh artificial level caps and slow updates, microtransaction 'mmo' game with limits unless you pay them monthly.

1. PSO2 looks more photorealistic than anime (it's just the face proportions that follow anime standards).
2. Xrd is still by far the most successul replication of anime style with 3D rendering.
3.Resage

...

That was a good laugh.

All I have to do is look at the hands and can easily tell it's not 2D.

Away with your shit taste.

No shit, Sherlock. It's a 3D model.
All it does is mimic the 2D anime stylization very well (specially being rendered in real time).

Well it doesn't do a good job.

Are you brain damaged?

user 3DPD is a state of mind, just because 2D has become 3D does not mean it will become PD

The modern woman may be 3DPD, but that is because they have lost their way

But I can clearly see polygons and textures stretching and even goddamn clipping. And this rectangular shading doesn't help it, in fact it gives up the whole thing even more.
I can't comment on gameplay, because the last GG I played was +R, but this in no way looks 2D or hand drawn.

As usual, clothes are one of the toughest things to get right, at least in anime-style models.

...

...

Never said it was good, just that it's the one that does it best by now.
But quite frankly, I think it's already pretty good for what it is. As I said, it's rendered in real time so the camera can rotate around their animations freely and those models could potentially be animated or ragdolled freely.
The modeling and shading techniques seem already perfect for it's objective. If it would to be pre-rendered or the machine that rendered it in real time was strong enough, it could possibly have a larger polygon count and look even more beliavable to be 2D, with the advantages of being 3D.
Feel free to show a better 3D representation of 2D anime if you want, as of now, I think that's the best we have.

I get your point, but keep in mind that the texture stretching and visible polygons are just results of hardware limitations, the game does need to be rendered in real time.
As for clipping, it "comes packaged with 3D". With 2D there is no such thing but 3D objects tend to try to occupy the same space as other 3D objects, and without a super realistic physics engine behind the animation, or every animation being having every frame of it fixed by hand to remove the clipping, it will happen.
As for the shading, it's the one they think better reproduce the artstyle of their old sprites

You're saying your pics(specially the second, I agree that the quality in the first scene isn't as good) look as 2D as pic related? The shading on her face on the second one makes her look like there are actual strokes drawn there.

Its much more than that though. They're actively trying to combine aspects of 2D animation with their 3D models with all of the model distortion and morphing. It's why characters like Millia, Zato, and Dizzy have a billion models

While not anime, I think that Mad World does a damn good job better than Guilty Gear Xrd

On Wii hardware, nonetheless.

That IS a very good example.
But I don't think it'd look as 2D if they tried having colors there. Would look more like an upgraded version of Viewtiful Joe graphics. Still very good.

Valkyria Chronicles did some creative shit in this regard, especially the shading. Muted pastel colors also helped by somewhat flattening out the color scheme.

Too bad the cutscenes are pre-rendered and look fucking awful.

OP here.

pls rate.

It's not good/10

Better than Runescape/10

Nightmare/10
I like it.

groovy

you still need to be good at 2D because 3D uses 2D textures you fucking nigger

Another top tier example

I consider that a different style to the 'true' 3d models as seen in the OP. It's more 2d that happens to be a 3d model but still looks 2d, like ggxrd, as opposed to trying to look 3d.

3D doesn't mean 3D rendered, it means real people.

Uh, user? That's kind of impossible, as this game doesn't use textures in the normal sense.

Shame Jam looks like garbage.

Yeah they tried their best, but you kinda still see it. I dunno if it's not really stretching textures, but it does look like shit and gives out the whole low poly 3D model thing going on.

I mean I get it, drawing high resolution sprites is cost-ineffective, that's why everyone switched to 3D. But holy fuck, why use 3D that is even more cost-ineffective than traditional sprite art but also looks worse? Xrd absolutely doesn't beat 15 year old sprites of X era, and it is even more hard and expensive to produce.
The fucked themselves over, but what baffles me is an army of fanboys trying to damage control it and parroting that it somehow looks superior.
It just doesn't.

...

Somebody link OP to Illusion game torrents.

Both of those have to do with the shader, not textures. Also remember you're looking at still images, none of this shit is visible in the game. And no, this isn't more cost-ineffective than sprites, at least if you want full HD without NN-upscaling the sprites. It's both more cost-effective and faster to create and change assets this way.

Read up on technology behind Xrd's graphics.

Japan has a bad track record with 3D but they'll improve by the 15th re-release.

here or here >>>/hgg/29088 for Honey Select threads

I already have, user.

Then why are you saying it's more cost-effective than sprites, when arksys said otherwise themselves? I don't remember if it was Ishiwatari giving interview or someone from the team, but it was there.

Are you saying FFXV will look good?

I'm not sure why they don't just outsource it to the Koreans who actually do have a good track record with 3D. They already outsource a bunch of animu to them for framing.

That's a good example really. People shit on berserk's image quality, but praise Xtrd, while they look exactly the same, minus maybe color palette.

Ahh, memories

One is an anime and the other is a game. i think they're both tough but the game is more forgiving since we won't notice it right away while playing the game. Source: Hacka Dolls ep7.

He's gonna croak before we get any kind of closure. Togashi too

Why not learn engineering or something useful?

Because what they were talking about is it being less cost effective than the old sprites. But it's not comparable to those sprites too, as those were only 200x300 pixels in size (roughly for standard human sized characters).
A full HD sprite would have to be 2-3 times bigger, which means every frame of animation is going to be between 4 and 9 times more memory. 3D models can scale to any size and still cost the same amount of RAM. Models are more cost effective than sprites. Doesn't mean they cost less at lower costs.
I realized halfway that you and that employee might be talking about actual monetary value, in which case that's logical because you can't outsource 3D model generation to 3rd world countries for 5 cents per 10 frames of animation. But fuck that.

Maybe he doesn't want to make the world a better place?

Make me.
