Arcadefag here, Ridge Racer Type 4 is the best arcade racer I've played. Get PCSX-R PGXP and Gnneco set up with a wheel and it's a fantastic racing game.

For NFS, I enjoyed the older games like 3:HP, High Stakes, HP2, and Underground 1 and 2. Never played anything past those, so I can't help with that. They have PC versions as well as various console versions you can emulate in case the PC versions have compatibility bugs due to how old they are.

Are you looking for arcade, simcade, or simulation in general?

PS2 version of Hot Pursuit 2. All other versions are garbage ports done by another studio.

Rubberbanding in The Crew is only sometimes noticeable in PvP if you happen to go against chinese or japanese. If you don't care about leagues or online tournments you'll be mostly playing against AIs so it's not an issue at all.

I feel like I've heard it, but I've never played. If you're looking for something closer to Carbon, Underground 2 and Most Wanted are the two you'll probably enjoy the most.

It's hit or miss in some cases. The NFS games all seem to emulate well, though, according to the wiki.

PSX peripheral that looks ugly as sin but allows for better turning response. There's a plugin for PCSX that you can map a wheel to match it, and get a normal wheel working with these games.

Not sure what you mean, other than if a game supports wheel usage, I have my G920 hooked up and use it instead of a controller. If a game doesn't support the wheel and I can't map it in anyway, I just use a normal controller, like my Fighting Commander or a normal xboner controller, or anything else I have lying around.

The source isn't available anymore and he won't release any source code for online multiplayer even if he releases source again. So no, it's not anymore.

He temporarily closed source because he couldn't get his own networking code to work properly so decided to use steamworks instead.

In the future he plans to develop an open source release in parallel the steam distribution but with all the propriety steamworks multiplayer code removed.

Yes, you twist the two pieces to turn, though there's a few different control schemes. The two red buttons are also analog buttons, usually for gas and brake.
I never said it didn't function well, I just wish it was a bit better looking. Actually, I wished the jogcon was better looking and then that would have been the best mini wheel controller. The jogcon actually has FFB, and works with RRT4 and RRV, and I think that's it. No plugins for it, though.

Depends on how well you can hold the pad, and whether or not it can be detected as a steering wheel and not be filtered like a stick.

Say, which thumb would you use to hold the wheel? Both? So you need two paddles on the bottom of the pad to shift (or 4 to have the clutch paddle like an F1 car) and the traditional triggers for the throttle and brake.

Because the Drivatars don't actually need to hit the checkpoints like players do. Additionally the player has a sort of "Sim bubble" around them where the Drivatars actions are accurately simulated but when they fall outside of that bubble (say two to three miles away), it falls apart and their cars can do ridiculous stuff. When I got to about lap 10 it wasn't uncommon for Drivatars to come barreling from behind at like 300 mph only to slow down when they passed me.

That's similar to The Crew and understandable, but cutting half the lap time is hardcore

Consider it the predecessor to PCARS, the same dev studio even worked on it. Since it's early 2010s EA it's going to have tryhard dudebro shit in it.

It really is, outside of nice shaders (which are also so poorly optimized you need a modern gaming computer to play this game) it has a lot of bad shit going for it. Keep in mind the devs of AC were so inept, they couldn't figure out how to program more than one light in the game engine and combined with the awful multiplayer interface that it's a Chris Harris Hotlapping Simulator and will continue to be. The only thing it had going over it was tire effects, which rFactor 2 now does and better as well.

If I had to pick the most autist sim game out right now, I would pick rFactor 2. If you search around you can find a working multiplayer yarr, else I hope you like paying $35/year or $85/lifetime to buy the game.

If you're on a toaster though, can't go wrong with rFactor 1.

It supports a few DInput wheels so maybe yours can do the job.

I did a quick blind run of all of these to make sure they're mostly road, so you guys shouldn't worry if you converted to RWD. You guys can go ahead and practice but there'll be no real prize since I can't gift stuff. Maybe I can figure out how to give the winner a car through auction house shenanigans. Regardless, this should be more than enough for an initial test session. Realistically counting all the loading and extra drive times to the locations, this'll probably still be well under 2 hours so I'm going to start the session at 7:00pmGMT and send invites but the first race won't be until 7:30. This should give you all enough time to get ready and join.

Oh, and important advice: Your mic is enabled by default in Horizon 3 on PC and the only way to turn it off is to go into windows 10 privacy settings, mic options, and disable Horizon 3 from there. Pic related.

I remember that Touring Car Thursdays was well received, most of the spinoff events were generally well received if less crowded than standard events.

Right now I'm trying to figure out the race settings. From in the thread I now have times to work with but now comes deciding on race length, amount of races per event and day to host the event on.

Not sure how easy RACE 07 is to host, but rFactor is beyond easy to crack and already has content from almost every other gMotor engine game including RACE07. The tracklist is one thing that I'll be working on figuring out as well.

Figured that already, but you know, in case we want to do away with this whole finding the correct mods and host links thing it can work.

In Steam's tools tab you can download the dedicated server, and the exe seems similar to rFactor's own one. Don't know if there's a Steam-less exe

It's simple arcade racing fun. It can also be very hard, especially the snowy levels.
The online has been shut down (I think) but it's still a fun game with quite a few unlockables. Be sure to get the PC version for 60 fps.

It's garbage, as much as dynamic terrain deformation is neat they dropped the traditional Sega Rally gameplay (3 or 4 stages one after the other with position that was carried between each) to a generic points based championship system, and that's enough to send it straight to the trashcan

Over at /1cc/ apparently they found a way to crack the Sega Rally 3 board, be patient and we will be able to play the real game

In other news, SEGA Rally 2 has online functions for the PC version, but I've never got them to work. If you're up for it, we could try to get it to work together.

I'm on linux through wine but i had the same issue on my windows 10 partition, apparently they were both different issues, with windows 10 just not playing well with the game and the fact that the game constantly recompiles HLSL shaders making wine run it slow too which i just fixed

You're capped at 3 skill points per chain, the XP cap is higher (400k I think), but you should bank at around 300k unless you're going for beating your PB skill chain.

Yes, and yes. Tuning is back and seems similar to what I've seen in FM6:Apex and you can convert all the hypercars to AWD for srs fasts.

AWD swaps? Not really, it's still a Forza game so AWD is op as all fuck. The cars understeer a bit more but you can counter that a bit with some setup work and the acceleration bonus is worth so much more.

In your root rFactor folder, you replace your (unactivated) rFactor.exe with their already preactivated rFactor.exe, and that's it.

In CSGO it forces the game to run at 30 FPS until you tab out/tab in. And it's the only game I had issues with.

There's an Xbox 360 configuration included if you use a 360 controller. Feel free to tweak it as you feel comfortable with it.

There is, you have to up your texture filtering high enough to get antistropic filtering.

Just the amount of anti aliasing, though why it doesn't set that in game and sets it in the rF Config application I don't know.

Check your system settings, you should be able to now that you use wangblows 10. I used Windows 10, I found that it performs worse overall when gaming than Windows 7 on my PC. Switched back after being unable to stand half my shit not working right.

No. I'm not sure what exactly causes the issues as I jumped back to 7. Part of the reason too I jumped back was because I felt insecure using Windows 10 in comparison to 7 like the sensation of someone staring at your monitor over your shoulder constantly. It has some nice features, but not enough for me to go back to 10 from 7.

There's always a learning period. Ask anyone going from controller to stick in fightans. Also don't be afraid to rip on the wheel for sharp turns and corrections. Also play Ridge Racer Type 4 with it.
