If you ask me, imageboards should ideally grow their own posterbase naturally, the way people used to back on halfchan before stuff like "Hackers on Steroids" and other events brought it more into the public eye. That does require at least some amount of anons to weed out newfags that either clearly don't belong or haven't lurked enough, and the ones that adapt to the way the place works are the ones that are prone to stay as regular posters.

Much as I like the idea that anyone can make their own board, there needs to be a weighing of broadness of topic in whether or not a board warrants being made. Also, there's an issue where some (probably most at this point) boards either never get real well know, or if they are popular for a while, eventually slip into a spiral of decay as some people who aren't satisfied with the amount of other posters leave back for more broad boards that have more posters to talk with, prompting even more posters to leave as the UIP and PPH count continue to drop. Look at how /vr/ and /svidya/ are these days.

I'd also argue for banning shit like coonrunes, but as I recall Mark pretty much endorses that sort of shit himself.

I know at least one user has been getting really annoyed about how 90% of Atelier/Gust threads made are generally "Impregnate Rorona" or "Marry/Fuck/Kill" tier template threads. I can certainly see why he's angry too, when that makes actual discussion of the games harder to have.

There's also the fact that rather there mostly being halfchan refugees here from years prior (such as the Gamergate and Holla Forums harbor exoduses and before; I myself had been on halfchan from at least as far back as 2006), we've also got a number of reddit exiles around who are here for whatever reasons.

I've purged my image folders so many times that I don't have a solid point of referance like that for when I started on imageboards.
