The second guy is Oersted, he's basically in a rivalry with a wizard Straybow, his friend, and seduces the princess with his manliness in a championship match. After a Romeo and Juliet love at first site spiel the princess gets captured and both Oersted and his friend Straybow team up with two other guys who had slain the last Demon King to go kill the Dmon King again. After the quest is "complete" the tower immediately starts shaking and Straybow supposedly died. Of course surprise twist he fucking didn't, he basically pretended to die and went to the secret entrance that revealed itself to save the air headed princess and basically fucked her brains out and seduced her simple minded brain away from Oersted becoming the next Demon King. After becoming the Demon King he fucks Oersted over so hard out of revenge combined with that side order of cucking that it turns Oersted into Odio the Demon King (after killing Straybow of course).

Live A Live. it's an SNES RPG that wasn't released in NA, but it had a European release.

People told me to play this game before but now i have another reason to check it out, thanks.

The best part is there is a dungeon where everyone in Odio's past is basically stuck in eternal limbo and everyone is stewing over that entire clusterfuck in the final world of the game.

Well, the guy on the left is Byuu from Bahamut Lagoon. He spends most of the game trying to rescue a princess he was engaged to Marry from a foreign nation who kidnapped her, only to find she willingly married the prince who kidnapped her in the first place.

The second guy is Orested from Live a Live who spends his part in the story trying to rescue a princess he was engaged to marry (wow, small world.) only for said princess to have fallen in love with his best friend and her kidnapper. She commits suicide after you kill the fuck out of said friend.

Pretty sure Live-a-Live officially remained Japan (and/or Asia) only and had to be fan-translated to be playable in English. PAL used to get fucked over a lot with JRPGs, to the point they didn't see Chrono Trigger of all things until the DS port 14 years after the original game came the US on the SNES. You might be thinking of Terranigma though, as it's one of the few reversals where PAL got it but the US got shafted (since Enix' US branch had closed)

If KoF XIV's Ikari Team ending is anything to go by they'll be back in the next game.

Verse's fragments pretty much revived everyone that was dead from the story. Including Ash and Gaidel, Leona's biological father. Orochi however is dealt with in Team Japan's ending.

Same goes for his son Kazuya.
