the CIS are porky as fuck fam, their leaders are literally called the Trade Federation

the republic, on the otherhand, are a hegemonic, unwieldy, declining superpower with serious systematic flaws

there are no good guys

ewoks

they're modeled after the viet cong

You can tell the series' setting is not only "in a galaxy far, far away", but the events are taking place "a long time ago" because they don't even have socialism in the CURRENT YEAR yet.

I team up with ship, the sentient ship.

...

The political underpinnings of the film is done in service of those who have their hands on the levers of power. Qui Gon crash lands on Tattooine, sees slavery and only seeks Anakin's freedom because of his magical powers. You'd think slavery in and of itself should be what the Jedis fight against, but nope.

As for the factions, you have the Republic which is basically America, the Empire which is fascistic and the Rebellion which is basically a bunch of really classcucked socdems. Overall, Star Wars is the story of liberals beating back a fascist order and bringing us back to the system that might not be perfect, but is the best one they have.

The setting in general is kinda fucked. They have casual FTL travel, sentient robots, and all kinds of cool tech, and yet they still haven't reached Fully-Automated-Luxury-Space-Communism.

George is kinda racist

Who made this autistic setting? At least in Warhammer 40k it is pretty much accepted that the Imperium is hell on earth for 9999.9% of the population.

The Empire at the time the films came out was more analogous to the Soviet Union, considering the Cold War was going on. Hence Ronnie Rayguns desire to make Star Wars a reality.

Didn't Lucas say that

Starwars is just a stupid hamfisted knockoff of Dune. Don't get me wrong, I watch the films and have eaten this shit for years, but beyond the first films and some of the games being good the franchise is trash.

So Ronnie missed the point like always

I have been wondering, can Dune be considered friendly to Socialism/Marxism?

There is all of this talk about the Golden Path, and how engineering it, so that humanity survives/becomes better, sounds awfully like Marxism.

If by 'seize the state' you mean turn into an immortal worm man and tyrannize humanity for three thousand years with the intention of causing a mass diaspora upon your death such that no single event can ever wipe out humanity completely, sure.

The technology in Star Wars is completely inconsistent and generally fucked up. It's a "sci-fi" setting written by people who can't even describe what science is.

Fuck. Left my shitposting flag on.

...

...

Shit I forgot about them.
Why are their war droids just vehicles but other droids can act independently?

What did they mean by this?

I think people used to call it "soft sci-fi" or "science fantasy" or whatever because the speculative element that was considered crucial to science fiction was not present at all. However I have no idea what the hyper-consumerist "sci-fi and fantasy" community actually uses to name their genres these days. As I can see from the recent, stupid events involving the Hugo Awards, most sci-fi and fantasy awards are given to things that are not science fiction or fantasy.

CIS, though most leadership is evil dooku is our guy

I'd go full Kreia Max Stirner mode

The CIS are porky as fuck. The Republic uses mindless slaves as cannon fodder and the Jedi Order is hypocritical as fuck. The Sith are the best out of them but even they just replace one oppressive society with another. There is no good choice.

CIS? sinners!

Because SW is a noblebright-dark setting while 40K is grimdark

what's the Holla Forums approved ranking of Star Wars?

5 > 4 > 6
That's all that exists.

Oh I forgot 7, the remake of 4.

There used to be many other Force-sensitive groups like the Zeison Sha, the Jal Shey and the Jensaarai. Too bad Disney got rid of all that because anything more complex than "guy with red saber is bad, guy with blue/green saber is good" doesn't sell to their new audience of normalfag hyper-consumer fuckwits.

How many pirate flags are there here? This is the first thing a pirateposter has said that has any validity at all. Aside from the part about the Sith being the best, since in the old canon there were many other choices to pick from besides Jedi and Sith.

If anything, Star Wars could be considered to make a case for anarchism, even if that wasn't how it was intended to come off. The Clone Wars were a contrived conflict between a failing, bloated government propped up by a corrupt order of baby-snatching monks and a gang of money-hungry cyberpunk megacorporations, the ultimate lesson of which is that big business and big government are both run by the same people, and neither have the general public's interests in mind.

Well, the CIS has a Techno Union.

Honestly though, George Lucas probably cared little for the actual politics of both of those entities and just wanted a robots vs clones war.

Honestly, I liked the franchise better if most of the EU (The games are pretty good though, but they rely on the shitty prequel lore.) and the prequels all got retconned away. There was actually some mystery considering that concepts like the Sith didn't even exist and the Jedi weren't exactly solidified. If anything, they made Stars Wars too futuristic and Sci-Fi with the prequels, instead of making it a gritty space-fantasy universe like the original trilogy.

I might write a fan fiction script of a "better version" of the prequels. I mean, it's been done before, and it's not like George Lucas's writing is any better than that of your average fan fiction writer. (Even down to the bad romances.)

Why are talking about Star Wars and not Star Trek? Star Trek is literally FALC and capitalists (Ferengi) are portrayed as self-interested money obsessed people

V > III > IV > VII > VI > II > I

Yeah I like Revenge of the Sith deal with it.

Live with the Jawa communes

Look at the coat of arms.

It looks the fucking same.

It has that mass in the middle, arms going outside being encircled by an outer ring

Whatever it represents it's the fucking same thing!

It was reconned. Some people hoped it'd be better, but, based on all the evidence so far, Disney's canon is going to be even worse.

disney's starwars is horrible even compared to things like luuke skywalker or jarjar

Not the prequels.

Disney kept the Prequels canon, but removed all of the actually good EU content.

And, they're going to add even shittier canon.
