Why haven't you beaten us yet?

Why haven't you beaten us yet?

Why the fuck did they fuck up this franchise so badly so many times?
It easily could have stayed on par with Pokemon.

I saw you fuck up the other thread user

I ended up getting Digimon World 2, after renting it when I was younger and hearing the music for the tutorial boss. The older Digimon games feel more grindy so if there was a reason why anyone wouldn't finish it that would be it.

World 1 actually has no grinding at all if you know what you're doing, the game punishes you severely for training more than 3/4 times a day.
Can be beaten with two monsters too if you have an idea where to go, but it becomes a fucking mess if you don't get the mechanics and don't know where to go.

Cyber Sleuth was pretty good.

But I have. Multiple times.
You mean being the same shit every single time? The best thing about the series is that they're constantly experimenting, even if that means we get shit games sometimes.

Anyway, I'm playing DW2 right now and enjoying it much more than I did as a kid, it probably helps that I'm on an emulator so I can just speed things up whenever there's a need to grind or earn some money.

beat the game using monzemon, which is one of the easiest perfect level digimon to get (get numemon, go to toytown)

I've beaten DW1 and RE;Digitize

RE;Digitize is retardedly easy, I beat it the first time with Banchouleomon and then with a perfect stated Omegamon

We all saw.

The question is: which team did you join?

Digimon's good, but I still want a good Metabots and Zoids game.

Hopefully the alleged upcoming Zoids game will be good.

Them experiment is fine, but dropping and never picking up things that clearly worked and were liked is fucked, on top of having shit management.

Having each Digimon World be completely different but still having the same name is stupid as shit, especially when they found one that was popular enough.
Just improve the game that already worked and make that a little line of sequels and experiment with new shit on a different name.

But it seems the japs just fucking hate making money and making anything good. Anything that isn't shit is immediately sabotaged and then covered up like a muslim rape scandal in the UK.

They shit the bed with Adventure 02 and they're shitting the bed with Tri now.
People wanted Re:Digitize to be localized and they instead gave us All-Star Rumble which is a huge pile of shit.

Literally all they have to do is to make Tamers 02 and beg Konaka to come back on their knees and make sequels to the games people have literally been making petitions for

Gold Hawks is the only real option.

I can agree with this, at least. Maybe they should've made like SMT and used the main series to improve the DW1 formula, then have various spin-offs with different types of gameplay that also get refined with every sequel.

If only the scum at game freak make a pokemon game with digimon world gameplay.

Fuck i wish I knew that as a kid, I spent so much time training.
Never finished the game, got up to the final boss then my mon died of old age and i couldn't be fucked to raise another (I think I had the robot guy)

Gold Hawk master race, I hope you niggas captured metalgreymon when it appeared at that one dungeon.

Because pressing a to advance text for 40+ hours is boring.

I don't think you know what you are talking about

Fuck you user, you do not know my pain.

Which of the games is this?

Data Squad PS2 game.
Its a generic JRPG

Yeah, nah user. That is too much praise for such a game. It's like playing a bootleg of a digimon game for the ps2. But it has an official release.

What the fuck am I looking at? What kind of fucking menu structure is this?

BECAUSE I COULD NEVER FIND THAT TREE NIGGER THAT STOLE MY SHOES.
FUCK.

So has anyone played Digimon Adventure for the PSP?

I played it too, I can confirm this.
I got to the battles with the 7 Demon Lords before I finally quit.

Same user. I quit too around the same area. Generic usually implies that it is just an average game. Data Squad is its own type of fuckery. I can't blame bugs and it definitely not a beta build. It just feels so fucking hollow. Well, like a bootleg.

fair warning i've literally only cared about digimon because porn of the humans and obvious exceptions like Lilymon or Angelmon

probably not as easy to just vomit shit with the mascot character on it and have it catch on. That's what Pokemon does, that's what the newcomer Youkai Watch does (it's still probably going to die soon but who knows) That yellow dinosaur thing isn't as instantly cute and lovable as Pikachu/Red Cat Pikachi even if you know it's cool.

Obviously all three have quality to be found but digimon just aren't as cute as most pokemon and it's just too similar on the surface to get away without being compared directly to pokemon.

At this point i forget what i'm ranting about. Just know I mean no ill will and I think if things went slightly differently digimon would be as big today as something like Pokemon and from what i've heard it'd fucking deserve it.

Re:Digitize could have been just like DW1, they coulda done it man
but no, instead it's MEDIOCRE
I don't want to talk to empty headed "friend" characters about stupidass shit I don't give a fuck about, I wanna save the digital world from bad shit and recruit them to the city with my digital partner NON FUCKING STOP
NO

We never get nice things like that and you know it

It's not just that. Pokemon had a shit load of things that gave it an edge over Digimon.

1. Cute mascot
2. Simple world and mechanics (none of this evolve forward-and-backwards shit, until mega evolutions)
3. Cute anime and consistently high-quality, canonical, infrequent video game releases, which work as a pair
4. Video game encourages social interaction, making kids without the games feel left out, and encouraging people to talk more about pokemon, because they need to discuss the game to trade and battle
5. Tons of supplementary media, including a simple and fun card game
6. Simple and memorable catch phrases
7. Came a year earlier

The biggest is number 3. When Digimon landed, it was just some tomagachi thing in 1997, then didn't get an anime and its first video game until 1999, and by then, Pokemon craze was already way in full swing. Digimon also only got video games for a while for Playstation, which is a console, and WonderSwan, which nobody fucking had, so it lost on point 4 real hard there. Digimon had multiple trading card games, instead of one single strong canonical one.

The big joining theme here is canonicalism.
With Pokemon, you had a strong Anime, a strong video game line, a strong card game line, and strong supplementary media, all of which were vetted heavily. With Pokemon, you knew what you were getting and you knew you liked it.
Digimon had a strong anime, a shotgun of video games (13 fucking games between 1998 and 2001), some DOA card games, and keychain tomagachi shit. It was pretty much the generic brand Pokemon given the way it was run. No careful releases, no finesse to the video games, no real thought to the way that marketing was run. Just a spattering of media released as fast as they could get it out.

Digimon could never have been as strong as Pokemon unless it had come out earlier. Pokemon landed far too fucking hard and caught on way too quickly for that. Digimon could have been way more than it was in the hands of a much more competent company though. Bandai could make some good games, but they had no fucking idea how to control and run a franchise.

It wasn't just "vomit shit with the mascot character on it" it was a very deliberately run process. Cuteness doesn't hurt, for sure, but I found that when I was a kid, my mom was more likely to get me Pokemon stuff than Digimon stuff because it had a cute character on it, and she always commented on how cute Pikachu was. I didn't give a fuck about Pikachu, but my mom loved it.

Digimon is similar to Pokemon on the surface, but it was run into the fucking ground by an incompetent creator that didn't know how to manage it.

no

The biggest problem with Re:Digitize is that it doesn't have the same feeling of progression like World 1. In 1 you started with basically two little buildings and built the entire thing up and you could see and feel the progress as it became a little city/town.
Re:Digitize doesn't feel like you ever make significant progress or have any impact.

The biggest problems Digimon had was that the anime and the games had inconsistent quality, were completely different with each sequel and therefor constantly turned away its own audience.
Digimon Adventure was good, they fucked the old cast and brought a terrible follow up. Then Tamers came along and it saved it again, only for them to completely drop it and bring out mediocre shit.

Pokemon had simply good management and a plan for the franchise, each thing fit together and they never annoyed or alienated their own fans by keeping shit the same constantly and occasionally making a little spin off.
The anime is dog shit, but its not like children know or care about the quality of that.

Its quite possible they could have gotten their shit together at one point and grown to compete with Pokemon one on one, but they had no idea and still don't know what they're doing.

Why would you create something like this?

I went with Blue Falcons because Muh Angemon.
Imagine my surprise when my teams Patamon evolved into fucking Ninjamon

Well, allegedly there is a new Zoids game coming out. Fields of Rebellion if the jap media is to be believed. But I'll believe it when a trailer goes live on an official developer/publisher channel.

Even then, odds of it coming out to the west is slim. We'll probably get a version that is localized to call Zoids something like Transflesh-Metal Otherkin's or something.

Which games does you-know-who appear in?

...

DW3 and Rumble arena 1.

...

D-did i heard Renamon thread?

No, fuck off.

Filter furfags, do not reply to furfags, ignore furfags.

Are those the only ones? She seems like such a popular character I figure she would've been in more.

Those were the first ones, but she's in pretty much all the ds games.

I remember when Digimon World came out. Me and my friends were all excited for it, and back then, most of us weren't on the internet yet, so we weren't usually aware of games until after release. But Digimon was the coolest show on tv. So when the game came out we all had to get it day 1.

So I got home and was so excited to play the show I was watching every day after school. And then I find it's completely unrelated. They say it's File Island, but it's nothing like the one in the show, and it's not like you meet any characters from the show whatsoever. Even big guys like Devimon seem to be entirely different characters. So that killed a lot of my enthusiasm.

But hey, I still get to play Pokemon with these other monsters that I like, right? No. I just sit here and take him to the bathroom every five seconds or he turns into a literal piece of shit. I can't even battle because when I do, he just fights on his own, I can't issue commands or anything. It's like playing Pokemon when you don't have the badges to make them listen to you. So I got a bit of the way through the game, my friend did manage to beat it. But I just wasn't having fun. And I realize now it makes sense to make it a virtual pet, because that's the central component to the Digimon franchise, but those weren't what got me into the series, the anime was, so a game that was more like a virtual pet with fancy graphics, rather than the anime with gameplay, is not the video game for me.

Over a decade later I found out that there actually were Digimon games that were exactly what I was looking for. Released only in Japan for something called the WonderSwan. And only the first one is playable in English. You'd think with how autistic this fanbase is, someone in the last 15 years would do fan translations for at least one of the others, but no. But anyway, I go and I play Anode/Cathode Tamer, and all it does is make me sad that they didn't release it here, because I would have fucking loved it. But then I find out that the sequels not only improve the gameplay (because while the fanboy in me likes the first one, it's still meh at best), but they expand the story to tie in so heavily to the anime that Adventure 02 and Tamers are both sequels to the games, moreso than the early seasons of the anime. You got multiverse shit and the true origins of the digimon and the real big bad behind everything ever, and none of it was released here, despite being integral to actually making sense of the anime.

And oh yeah, then 15 years later a game directly based on the anime that was a huge hit worldwide gets released. Only in Japan. Other countries only get the more obscure weeb entries instead of the one that would appeal to casuals. I still can't understand the thinking on that.

Instead of the WonderSwan games I got Digimon World 2. And I liked it better than the first one, despite being grindy and I fucking hated how my car ran out of battery if I tried to explore at all. But it still didn't have anything that really drew me to the franchise, including any connection to the anime beyond a couple designs and names. I wanted to play in a world that felt similar. It's funny, because although I know at least Digimon World 1 actually is canon to the anime, the world doesn't feel the same at all. Meanwhile, the Pokemon games and anime are very clearly not canon to each other, but still manage to feel like the same world.

And I suppose that's the problem with digimon. Consistency. And I don't even mean in terms of quality. I mean they just don't seem interested in keeping an audience. They seem to think the name alone will hold an audience, when each entry is completely different in concept, in story, in gameplay, in everything. I mean I was autistic enough to get into Tamers due to a line in the first episode where they say the first two seasons were a show in this universe. So I'm like "alright, so this is digimon in the real world. I can get behind that." But then the next season was yet another reboot. And this time there wasn't even that little thread to hold my interest. Last year I went back and watched it, and it turned out to be good, and still sorta canon in a multiversal way, but you can't expect a kid to give a shit. They threw away all the emotional investment they built up over the previous seasons. And the games do the same by never having the stories connect (in an RPG, where story is important). They don't even care if people like one style of gameplay or not. They think they'll come just for the brand name. So I stopped buying.

And then recently I got totally into it again. Because now I'm autistic enough to draw the connections and understand the insane lore behind this series. But I still don't like the gameplay in any of these that much. My favorites are Digital Card Battle, and Andode/Cathode Tamer, just because they have direct connections to the anime and relatively simple gameplay that doesn't involve grinding forever. Digimon World 3 is alright too, but I never cared enough to invest all the hours it would take to beat it. There are better JRPGs out there, and once again, without any connections at all to the anime, I might as well just play some other game instead.

tl;dr: I'm gonna bitch about these WonderSwan games in every Digimon thread until someone makes a translation.

Didn't that new game got a fan translation?

Last I checked the fan translation wasn't actually finished yet. Glad they're working on it, though. Can't wait to play it. Even though I've been waiting for years. If anyone here has played it and can say just how playable it is yet, that would be great.

According to the translator's blog, all the story has been translated so far.
digimonadventurenglish.weebly.com/updates

Still needs to be actually inserted into the game, though. We'll see how that goes. As far as I understand, the actual translating is the easy part. It's putting the translation in the actual game that is difficult. I mean, if I wanted, I could translate entire games with Google Translate. But I know of no programs to just change the program of the game for you.

This is just about what happens. The guy(s) who did the Mother 3 translation years ago put up a compilation video of all the different ways the game broke down and glitched out because they didn't alter the code properly.

Not at all.

You're my kind of autist, buddy. Spent so much time training my mon, over and over, dieing and training, only progressing the story a little bit each time with each mon. At least stats had tiny bit of carry over with each generation and you could keep the techs you unlocked at the school.

Just as I was about to face the final boss with a Metalmamemon I saved the game, and thought "gee I better go train some more in case he's really hard". Mon died of old age a day later, so I reloaded the save and went for it. Not ridiculously hard but not easy, buffed stats and boatloads of items are all you need really.

Oh yeah, if anybody else enjoyed the shit out of Digital Card Battle (I sure did) you can play it in-browser here game-oldies.com/play-online/digimon-digital-card-battle-sony-playstation#

I named my digimon after my brother. He would walk by and I would start bitching that he can't do anything right, scold him for shitting on the floor. Good times.

Yes it was, what is wrong with you?

Because I don't like Digimon.

I have no idea if you'll like it or not, but I remember having shit tons of fun with zoids battle legends 2
I was pretty disappointed that we never got three though, only nips did.
If you don't know what it is, it plays like babbies first armored core.

Me too but only the Digimon, the humans never interested me.

I like Digital Card Battle because it's the link between the Digimon World games and the anime, making the whole thing even more autistic than it already was.

Thanks god that Nishida hasn't left the company yet. I don't hate pikachu but I'm amazed at how they managed to make a simple rat so obnoxious.

Wasn't Clefairy the original mascot until Pikachu was decided at the last minute? Weird that the starters were never serious contenders for being the mascots.

Not really remember that this is a Japanese game, so the mascot has to be cute.

Which Cyber Sleuth girl would you fuck?

...

Yeah, something like that I heard too. Guess Clefeairy was too pink and girly.

In practice, the starters were the mascots of the first games (Red and Green with charizard and venasaur). My guess the "official mascot" idea came from the anime and the needed to have a partner for Satoshi. Then the anime became popular and pikachu stayed as the face for the games.

For which they could had picked fucking Poliwag that was at least the game creator's favorite pokemon. I hate how the anime in too many aspects shaped what pokemon came to be… If only they bothered on making it good.

Thank you user.
Also another one.

It's like the devs cribbed ideas from the other Digimon games, but couldn't figure out how to make it fun so they just shat out Data Squad.

You'd think they'd want to bank off the nostalgia a lot of people have for the series and release that game over here, but nope. I don't think Bamco really knows what they're doing.

You forgot the best girl.

As nice as it would be if that were true, Digimon lacked the appealing designs and simplistic nature of Pokemon. The artwork has a certain roughness to it and a great deal of strange as fuck creatures. Then they stuck with the digital pet gimmick for too long and had you scooping poop and doing tedious training mini games long after that had gone out of style.

Digimon had a few great games, but ultimately lacked a core amazing title that had a ton of appeal, they never hit the perfect balance between ease of entry and potential depth, and they didn't have a juggernaut like Nintendo helping them out with marketing and promotion.

Because unlike pokemon, they decided to experiment and see what did and didn't work.

Why don't more games just have dialogue retrieved from a raw text file or some shit? Holdover did that (pic related) and not only did it get translated pretty easily but if you the player noticed any errors it was a breeze to just fix it yourself.

It's in cyber sleuth, but you'll be looking at Sakuyamon the most if you don't want to get dicked hard.

… I should rewatch Tamers.

...

Crusadermon.

you didnt know how to play back then i assume?

speed is literally the only important stat in the game, the rest you can get with equipment and various trainings once your Speed is maxed out.

tl;dr pokemon was easier to market and kids are fucking retards so whatever is marketed more will sell more regardless of objective quality.

Oh yeah, now I remember that kind of evolutions. How the hell they got casual child nudity past censors still baffles me. don't tell me I was the only one who was confused as a prepubescent kid seeing this

CHECKM8 ANTIPEDOS

That too, the city was already built and going before you even started the game, anything you do isn't improving it much at all

Men are different than women mate. Our minds are just stringed to have sex with women and or find them attractive. It's just what we are as hot blooded males. Otherwise why are you projecting like so?

So I'm a fucking autist, and in preparation for the Decode fan translation "eventually" I decided to list out all of the final two stages of Digimon and map them to each other so I don't waste my goddamn time. There are 39 of the next to last stage and only 37 of the final stage, but Lucemon FM doesn't evolve so that left only Lillymon or Lilamon out in the cold. There are much fewer of any other previous stage so I'll have to redundantly go through them anyone, and I didn't account for any X-antibody evolutions or other jogresses, but this is a decent list.

This one or the foodie.

Also hope the new game Bandai is bringing over will capture the feel of the original digimon world.

i doubt it will, but at least its a digimon game.

the original world feel will never be replicated, just think about it. until the very end, you thought you were the only human brought to the digimon world as the chosen one (for your abilities at raising digimon) to combat the strange phenomenon that was making all digimon go crazy in different ways and leave the town.

Decode straight out fails from the very beginning at replicating that feel because one, the town is already fully built and the only difference is that new digimon (which are all in predictable, clearly visible locations, unlike being mostly hidden or having a weird sidequest required to spawn them) occupy the buildings. And two, because from the very first moment you're sucked into the digiworld you are accompanied by two friends, then you meet the titty girl, then you meet shadow the hedgehog that kid with the BKWargreymon, and then you realize there's a coliseum with 100 floors full of human avatars, all in the first half hour of the game. It straight out fails at giving you that sense of isolation and being entrapped until you accomplish your mission that made the first one special, and it does so in less than 30 minutes.

the music was mostly white noise topically related to the area you were in, the canyon sounded like wind gusts passing through mountains, the forests were the sounds of bugs and birds, the lakes were the sound of water and fish, the mines were the sound of machinery and drilling, Decode is nothing like that, every area has some happy lucky music, it doesn't even feel like you're trapped and hopeless in a different universe.

plotwise, everything from Dawn/Dusk and upwards feels like the franchise took a wrong turn in the faggot cuckime alley and ended up being filled with anime girls and generic shonen stereotypes, why are the same 3 girls in every game now? we get the same character OCs shoehorned into everygame, we know that titty Mcpurplehair is going to be in, and we know that lerandomopenjacket D'dumbcunt with veemon is going to be in too as DLC most likely, and this one too.

gameplay-wise, decode was about the same as the original, except they had to shit up the trainings with minigames and force the player to permanently be short on BIT, unless you spend a couple of weeks fishing. the map is full of invisible walls and clunky textures, you have these huge impressing maps (for PSP at least) but you can't go here, and you can't go there, invisible wall here, knee-high ledge there.

the worst part is that you have 2 choices, don't buy the mediocre games? japs never localize them again, buy the mediocre games? they keep making more mediocre games. There is no way, through your wallet, to tell them that you want them to make BETTER games.

This is what some of the Next Order girls look like.

user pls, my dick is not ready for this

i hope there are no hairdrills or braided tails in this game

exactly what i was talking about.

it will never be half as good as the original as long as it keeps focusing on generic moe sluts designed to halt reproduction instead of focusing on being a good game with a good atmosphere, like the original was.

I dunno how a dev fucks up game design so badly. Just everything is wrong. The meme of random battles in jrpg is taken at face valuenin the game. The meme of rpgs being a menu cluster fuck is taken as face value in this game. Wiping out a field of enemies and waiting for them to die can take a whole minute. Jesus fucking christ man.

I'll do it right now if you want it so badly.

I know what this thread needs

Its pretty good, written by the same guy who did Serial Experiments Lain.

Just never watch the dub, its beyond abysmal.

Those are some qt girls.
Hopefully we'll get some human digimon r34 this time and retards making 10,000th guilmon eating Veemons asshole pic will finally fuck off and die.

Unreasonably large asses to smash and clap my face untilI pass out?

There is more than enough of that already.

Renamon is a manly dude in the German dub

Good thing Germany stopped mattering after 1945.

Why didn't they ever follow up on this?

They did user

I wish they never did.
It wasn't even a fighting game like the previous two, but instead some kind of poor mans power stone.

I beated the remake, but every time I try to beat the original the fucker goes back to be an egg in mount infinite.

I never got the lust for renamon, it's an animal.
Izumi into Kazemon did give me funny feelings in my lower body though.

Its mostly the personality and voice at least in the sub on top of the good design.

Proud, stoic and devoted warrioress with top tier singing voice sells a lot.

Kitsune mythology is also pretty much exclusively romantic or sexual in japan

I didn'0t know there was a Rumble Arena for PS1. I have Rumble Arena 1 and 2 on PS3, ironically. Is it any good? Or at least to give it a try? Specially for multiplayer.

I meant PS3. Of course I know from Rumble Arena on PS1.

It's a fun straight up 2d fighting game unlike RA2 which is like smash, in some ways it's superior to the second game, like character rooster, unique special moves that are replaced with bubble explosions in the second game, music is great and final boss is SNK tier asshole.

But it's a fox so that nulls out any sort of attractiveness, and america is not Japan so that culture of liking kitsunes doesn't exist or at least when it aired.

So how long until Digimon World 1 and 3 get released on psn? I've been waiting for like 8 years now.

Oops. Meant to link to OP instead.

no

I just downloaded. It's cool. But nothing beats Rumble Arena 1, though. Voice acting is FUCKING TERRIBLE.

I want to impregnate Nokia!

Personally I didn't care much for anyone.

I thought cyber sleuth was pretty mediocre overall but i enjoyed grinding my team up passed mega form, it's sad there wasn't much of a post game except a couple lame boss fights that only imperialdramon paladin mode was a challenge.

reminder movie 3 of adventure tri has been subbed, surprisingly good

It might be slightly better than the first two, but still boring as fuck. Practically nothing happens. They at least act like something is going to happen, but it doesn't. The Digimon literally only appear in the background in the tv in the first episode. I know it's really a movie and they're not really episodes, but I don't want to watch the first 25 mins or so of a Digimon movie and not see any Digimon.

HerculesKabuterimon was the most disappointing mega so far, and that ending fake out was so fucking stupid

I just wanted to see Patamon's ultimate evolution like in the first 02 movie. Since he was the most important one through most of the movie, I got my hopes up. But naw. Can't do cool things in Tri.

felt bad they couldn't save their own partners, 4th movie is next year in february so we'll have to see if they get their memories back or what

I agree it's (tri) rather weak

...

I did beat both of these games and they're not good.

Can anyone tell me if Digimon World DS or Dawn has more content?

Is there some kind of fancy tournament that adds high level Tamers once you beat the main story? Which has a bigger world and longer postgame? One of my biggest obsessions about videogames, especially handheld, is how much of what you enjoy and how long you can enjoy it is crammed into a little cartridge.

Digimon World DS probably has a campaign 10~ hours long. After that is a short Colosseum and its just grinding for digimon.
Dawn is about 15~ hours. They are almost identical games in combat system.

I've played my brother's DS years ago when he first got his and got hooked on it. The only thing I didn't like was not being able to see my Digimon on the screen like Pokemon always has. I just love seeing what I raised with all my hard work kicking ass for myself.

Even as young and inexperienced to a more in depth and complicated raising system I still figured how to hatch Digi-eggs and began raising some lines I really liked in no time.

They obviously will. But still, at this point I'm just curious as to how they'll find a way to make the next movie nothing but boring moeshit even though they're finally in the digital world again.

All right, that's too fucking good.

How is mindless grinding complicated?

I'm talking about conditions for them to Digivolve.

Yes would be good, actually

...

This stuff is clearly laid out, so what's complicated?

It isn't so much complicated as it is irritating. Maybe the later digivolutions that require multiple megas and not knowing their evolution line?

Now that fits much better, especially with jogress only Digimon requirements and having to own that digimon to evolve into that exact same Digimon.
