Far Cry 2 is still a pretty lackluster game, though. I found it very bland and not fun to play at all. Far Cry 3 was bad for different reasons (as I'm sure is the case for Far Cry 4), but that doesn't mean 2 is a good game or even worth playing.

I haven't played 1, but from what I understand 2-4 are very different from 1 so maybe you won't like them.

I would say none of them are worth playing as they're bland open world FPS games, with 3 and being filled with stupid shit. For example, in 3 there's a shootout in a burning marijuana field while a song by Skrillex and Damien Marley plays. They added in a lot of boring padding as well.

I don't know, up to you. Could always try 3 and see if you like it, I guess.

I heard crysis is basically the spiritual successor, which i incidentally also only beat the first of, so maybe it's best to not delve into sequels.

I'd say 2 is definitely worth a play and I thought 3 was fun, but from what I've heard if you've played 3 you've played 4 so choose on what sort of setting you want. 3: Pirates and PMC, 4: Himalayan dictator.

2 had some stupid shit in it, which could be explained with "kill whitey" if some of the player characters weren't black, like the fact that every checkpoint opens fire on you. Keeping it more punishing than Hollywood would probably have involved quite a bit of feature creep without it just being Far Cry 2: It Ain't Me, which is what 4 was to 3 basically.

I would have liked them to go further down the path 2 was on and add some more features like being able to get through checkpoints if you were in your civvies and had your armour and main gun in the trunk, which could lead to your car getting searched and having to use your pistol, but instead they released Primal (did anyone actually play this I never see it mentioned?).

My favourite part about this game is how the devs had to hire an architect to design the buildings cause once the physics engine was done all the buildings kept collapsing.

but i'll give you a serious answer anyway.
the cops are a huge problem in GTAV but for none of the reasons you listed. police take time to respond to the scene of a crime and spawn outside of the "bubble" (like all AI) they dont "appear behind you".
They dont know my exact location and i find it fairly easy to hide from police. i have run up on cops. shot them in the back of the head, and escaped through alleyways and hopping fences to get outside the flashing area before being spotted on multiple occasions.
Also, the PITT maneuver is pretty damn effective, especially at high speeds on a real car. but running from the cops and resisting the PITT maneuver is pretty fucking easy if your tires arent popped.

im not defending GTAV. i just dont agree with those specific complaints…. cop AI is terrible especially compared to 4. the effects of shooting enemies (stumbling if shot in leg for example) is almost completely gone and ruined alot of the fun for me. as well as being attacked by cops for simply standing near them. you used to be able to get in a standoff with cops if you never pulled the trigger. they wouldnt shoot. now they start shooting if youre near one for too long.

I never change the framerate. For the resolution it just depends on the bitrate and the video itself (some videos can still look good at low bitrates but some will look like shit). Of course if it's a pretty long video and you have to use something like a 200 kbps bitrate, I wouldn't make it above 360p.

Oh and since the new limit is apparently 12MB, just use 12 000 instead of 10 000 for the bitrate calculations.

Yeah people keep saying "My WebM's look like shit" but then they try to compress too much high detail or motion into a low bitrate file

VP9 is amazing but its not magic, still has basic constraints to video, the newest versions even beat x265 in terms of compressing video while keeping quality but there is still some guidelines to bitrates required, while 200bitrate is good for even 480p 30FPS for 60FPS like you said you would have to drop down to 360p or even lower

Like these are all at 3000kbps

Doing that with say x264 would look like garbage, hell youtube encodes with on average 5.5mbit for 60FPS and it looks like trash

I meant trying to calculate the filesize with them so you can fit a certain size more easily.

If I was going to do 60FPS for 720p and make it look absolutely crystal clear you need about 1500 bitrate, for 1080p you'll need about 3000 (60FPS video requires about 1.5x more bandwidth than 30FPS does, why this is I don't know but its probably due to macroblock control and motion estimations)

I actually used 1500 for this one. Might have went too high since it's only 480p but at least it's pretty much the highest quality possible.
