The same way OP is a faggot.

I don't have a problem with this.

I respect his choice because I do miss the old days where datamining didn't immediately reveal all the secrets of a game.
I feel like Dark Souls with it's secret Darkroot Garden bonfire, Ash Lake and otherwise were the last time we'll get that pure sense of discovering something as a community. Real shame too.

This.
Datamining has killed games that are about exploring and learning and finding things. I have no problem with him hiding information/spoilers like this.

Personally I don't really mind, datamining tends to ruin games these days.

...

Fuck that. I paid $15 for it, I want all the content for the game upfront. Don't withhold shit because you're a smug faggot.

GTA V had some secrets that took years to find

Nigger I actually like finding out secrets in a game without knowing about them beforehand.

Extra hidden secrets!

platinumgames.com/official-blog/article/9064

You're a retard, OP.

...

>>>/reddit/

Thank fuck some people know the proper definitions of words.

I bought the game, it's mine to do with as I please

Plenty pretentious.

.a

Probably just a renamed extension, won't deter any real dataminers, just make tech-illiterate faggots like OP angry.

...

What a bunch of cucks. Games should be ripped apart and spoiled for as many people as possible.

You niggers still don't know what that word means.

hope someone does it as fast as possible just to spite this stupid faggot

tcrf.net/Mad_Professor_Mariarti

Like I said, plenty pretentious. You daft cunt.

We get it. You don't have the slightest clue what the word means. Now, fuck off.

Holy fuck just look up what the word means

Op is a massive faggot, posting porn

.a files are static C libraries. Try opening them up with an archiving/compressing program like winrar or 7zip.

This came out almost a year ago you retard.

Assumption of dignity. Undeserved importance.

Now post some smug anime faces and control that damage already.

OP you are a faggot.

There were unpacking tools available within 20 days of the release date.

Heed your own advice.

I am 3 items from 100% completion

then git gud
games are done to be discovered, is for faggot like you we end up with dev having brain dead concept of exploration

I'm indifferent, I don't think this makes any difference to anyone.

Have you tried not looking for spoilers?

I've completed every character's path on hard, including Keeper and Lost. There is no more "getting good" here, only RNG, waiting for them to show up in uncommon item pools.

It's cute how hard you are trying.

That's being prideful, not pretentious. I guess every person who has ever made a game is a pretentious cunt for loving the thing they spent years of their life working on.

Except BoI was well established at this point so it was extremely likely people were intending to do that. If there was undeserved importance, why were tools to open it up developed so quickly? Obviously it was important to enough people to warrant the action.

You're just assmad they used the word beautiful. Apparently pride in your work is pretentious

...

What?

The items I need only show up in angel rooms, which you'll see maybe 2 or 3 per run, tops, if you're lucky. Not only that, but it's a rarer item from the pool, so I have less than a 1/16th chance of it even appearing, if the room even decides to spawn an item

Exploration and hidden shit is cool, though, even though I'm terrible at finding secrets in games.

I wonder if there will ever be a way to hide secrets in a PC game effectively, other than a game just not being popular enough for people to care.

As long as all the methods to hide secrets are actually in game and not just HEY HACKERS FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU I consider it well hidden.

are you a femminist OP?

locking online on the dev server? i actually dont know….i guess would be better because brings games back to the '90 where if you didnt knew how to get this thing you where fucked

sup I haven't actually posted anything in like a year or so (just lurked), but I just wanted to say: OP you a fucking faggot

I've beaten all the challenges there are to the game
Holding R and waiting for the RNG to cooperate is not fun or challenging. It's obtuse and bad design

Sure, if he did actually make a beautiful game you could say it was pride here, but when you stick a text file in the innards of your game’s directory pleading with people not to share their findings online because you think someone attempting to or looking up how to reverse the game doesn’t want to be spoiled then you’re really trying to make your game out as more important than all the other games that a reverser has looked into in the past.

And this is bad how?

...

Different scenario. Bethesda is a shit company and deserves all negativity they get and worse.

I think you mean

How is the dev pretending to be something he's not?

Spoilers are spoilers and games are games
You don't get to choose what you're offended by

You got any proof on that, user?

Personally, I think spoiling stuff intentionally for anyone is a dick move. Besides, if you want to ruin someone's fun with Fallout 4, just list the myriad of legitimate issues with the game, lel.

To be honest, the people I've seen act the most giddy about FO4 lately are the people who make/sticky spoiler threads. I feel this says something, but I'm not too smart

What's your point? Bethesda took no measures to protect themselves from that. There were video files labeled ending a, ending b just sitting out in the open. No digging was required

The difference is the salt party shit was funny, you're not likely to get the same reaction to spoiling this game.

End-users have no legitimate reason to go to the game's folder, especially since they create their own local save files in C:/User/My Documents, and a shortcut on the desktop. Nice try ;-)

...

Other than not telling you the game's plot summary in the marketing and the game's intro.

Except searching through the game files, like you just said was required to see the ending files.

If the ending cutscenes were automatically unlocked in-game before even starting a new character, that would be "no measures"

God damn it, why am I defending this shit game

This isn't pretentious at all, it's actually an excellent decision.

And you don't know what pride means either. The game doesn't have to be objectively beautiful for him to take pride in it, and such a thing is impossible anyway since beauty is entirely subjective.
Your argument is still completely retarded. I bet you get pissed off at signs asking you not to do stuff too. You smoke all day erry day, who does that sign think he is asking that you not smoke here! Jesus fuck could it be any more pretentious?!

How often does everyone here masturbate? I'm down to once before bed.

Usually once a day. In the summer when it's hotter I might go twice a day, and I might not go every day when it get colder. I've contemplated trying a triple some day but never have the desire past that second fap.

And that gives you power over the dev?
You think that that means he must cater to your every whim?

It's not being pretentious its keeping the secrets in the game hidden.

Just kidding it's like everything new mechanics wise for afterbirth, buttons, jar of flies, all that shit is in there.
Just like the Post Mortem version of HUSH is in the files for afterbirth and is a boss in the new expansion for isaac.
THIS IS NOT A JOKE POST THEY ACTUALLY SOLD AFTERBIRTH AT THE PRICE OF THE GAME ITSELF DESPITE MOST OF AFTERBIRTH ALREADY BEING REBIRTH'S FILES.

You're a fucking idiot.

I don't know about you but I have no issues avoiding spoilers. The only place I talk / read about vidya is here and if I see a thread about a game I don't want spoiled I don't open it.

Edmund truly is a based dev, having the foresight to distribute the game ahead of time to save on download times!

ITT triggered isaac remake faggots

You're god damn right I'm triggered.

When my girlfriend's in town? None
When she's outta town?

I thought the game was fun especially for "free" game of the month with paid subscription to PSN, but the story is the last reason I played it.

You're worse than people who talk while watching movies.
BOHOO IT'S SPOILED FOR ME I CAN'T WATCH IT.
Real men only get more interested by spoilers because they want to see how the story gets from Point A to Point B (whatever was spoiled)

That's what I do too and I have yet to be spoiled a game that I actually give a shit about. But people are cunts that don't give a fuck and this is the last place I would be if a newly released game has a story I care about. I wouldn't even go to most websites just in case.

Story aside, I was thinking more along the lines of discovering the world around you like in open world games or games with hidden secrets like Dark Souls or Final Fantasy. Think of Ash Lake. How many people discovered that area on their own as opposed to stumbling upon a spoiler in a place they didn't expect? That sense of "Woah what's that" or "Holy shit" feeling you get makes the experience better.

I've yet to play Persona 4 but I know the big spoiler of that game and someday I'll play it to see how it all unfolds, but I wish I didn't know so I could experience the twist for myself. It's not wrong to want to play a game without knowing of spoilers. But you're right in one regard, even if a game you wanna play gets spoiled there's no reason to be a little bitch about it and not play it.

In an age where people just go to youtube and watch some loudmouth faggot play the game first, why would you even bother?

The thing is, while that fills the void, it gets rid of the actual "shock" of it when the reveal actually happens, for whatever it is. That's what people are starting to miss. At least for things that are actually spoilable.

A lot of the time a "spoiler" turns out to be shit you read on the back of the fucking box. Or is a game mechanic that gets introduced later when you could have totally used it before (and if you aren't braindead, have already figured out through experimentation).

true , but that doesn't make you any less retarded

Yeah, I remember when MMOs didn't have wikis with all the secrets, walkthroughs, dungeons, item descriptions and shit on them.
Too bad op doesn't because he's underage.

But how would you know?

...

This is going to be so much worse 3 days from now.

I'm with OP on this one. If you don't want to see spoilers, don't go to sites that post them. It's that simple.

The fact you guys are okay with this is exactly why devs don't even bother including modding tools anymore.

Okay with what, devs asking that you not spoil the game for others while doing nothing to actively stop it? That's what OP is upset over, a fucking text file asking him not to be a dick. The only thing stopping him from extracting those files is himself by not learning how to do it when he has access to the worlds largest knowledge library and all the tools he needs.

As another user pointed out, the assets for Hush and many planned expansion features were already in the base game.

Edmund also promised a mod tool of you buy the next expansion

What the fuck does any of that have to do with OP being a faggot as usual?

Devs going out of their way to make accessing the game content harder, maybe?

If you look it up, the files aren't standard library files. (I don't actually know for sure, because I don't own the game so I can't test it). Either way, don't complain when devs only provide with huge binary packages I guess.

They aren't making them any harder to access than anyone else. Almost every game has the resources compressed in some format that you can't just unzip.
Again, the only thing stopping OP from accessing that shit is himself.

The first line in the text file is

so yes, he is explicitly trying to make it more difficult to open. Did he succeed? Not really, as someone released an unpacker. It's still a douchey thing to do.

That is a tool that is available, fucking use it you goddamn retarded piece of shit. Almost every game is exactly the same, requiring third party software to get into their soft meaty bits.
Why do you shits think this is some terrible new way to fuck over consumers when its been a normal part of software development since before your sperm was even formed?

...

Just use an encryption on the important files that has it's key tied to player action. Like, using certain objects in a certain order will decrypt the file because parts of the key are tied to the item and the item use order matters. I don't think thats too hard to do.

FAGGOT "GAME" FOR FAGGOTS

There are tools
The same as with every game not using .zip archives or loose files
Said only you
He asked you not to do. Didn't tell you, didn't stop you, just asked.
And again, he isn't being pretentious at all. He isn't making his game out to be better than other games or of greater importance to video games as a whole, he is being proud of the game he made and is kindly asking that you not spoil it for yourself, and if you are going to anyway, not to ruin it for others.
Why do you insist on being this retarded?

...

Oh no people are not finding all of the secrets day 1 because they can't just easily look at the raw files. What a pretentious dev. :(((((((

I have read the thread and have come to the conclusion that OP is indeed a faggot.

He does not know the meanings of words.

so whats the problem? maybe you should write an email

...

What is on-disc DLC?

If you seriously can't overcome chances with pure skill, you're a whiny faggot.

1. You're a faggot
2. That readme was written a year ago and the tools have existed for quite a while.

Shit thread

...

this is an item drop chance roll, the only way to overcome this is to just not bother trying to get the item and beating the game without it

this is someone who has already beaten the game but still wants the item, there is no way around the dice roll since the item itself is his endgoal.

Someone needs to explain how this is pretentious at all.

You know what would be great? A Fighting game where your special moves only come out half the time and all your normal attacks are completely random. Don't like it? Git gud scrub, this shit takes real skill.

...

Oh OP is a ponyfag. Now everything makes sense.

The act of tearing videogames apart and getting into autistic mathematical detail for the best strategies and putting it all into a wiki is part of the reason games aren't as fun anymore and certain kind of games simply don't work.

You can legitimately no longer have an MMO with any kind of discovery and secrets in it, it's a game formula that's directly killed by wikis and there's nothing you can do about it. You can't find something in the game and keep it a secret from other people for the sake of your own advantage, because everyone will just look it up from a wiki anyway. You can't get lost in the world or discover amazing new places because there will be a world map with every pixel in it available 3 clicks away in google. Everyone can know everything, everyone will have the optimal setup, and you must also look up the optimal setup if you don't want to be handicapped in comparison.

As long as you have that available, you're forced to play pretend with yourself rather than truly having the experience. And as soon as you get tired or frustrated, you'll probably stop playing pretend and google up a walkthrough, rather than adjusting yourself to the situation by dealing with what you got or taking a break or doing something else. That's exactly what you used to do in the past. If you got stuck, you stopped trying and came back to it later. You ended up solving everything on your own.

Some people argue that being able to get the optimal strategy from somewhere is a good thing, but are you really even playing the game at that point? You're no better than people who want to pay to win rather than winning by your own ability. You're essentially looking up something akin to a cheat code; power from beyond yourself.

making games where game is dynamic enough to render wikis and stuff useless would require devs to do away with muh story and narrative shtick and go back to engineer gameplay, something nobody really wants to do because average nigger will eat up another everquest clone just as fine

Do tell me about this "dynamic" game formula that fixes the problem but nobody just "wants" to do.

Trying to subvert the problem will probably leave you with a very small range of game types.

Ok what level of dynamic would not be catalogued? I want a clear straight answer.

Ah, she keeps you in a chastity cage, eh?

You don't need to naturally find every item. There are plenty of ways to break the game and make it far more likely to generate what you want. If you weren't approaching the problem like a dumbshit it wouldn't be anywhere near as much of an issue for you.

Now that's a good bait.
I give it a 6/8

...

...

actually it's just spoilers and shitposting, Edmund has no issues with modding or people actually modding it or even 'digging in the files'
Nicalis is currently making modding tools for BoI, in fact

I don't play games to explore or what you call an experiance. Where's the gameplay? Walking around a world with an occasional mob popping up and you happen to find a hidden item, ok, you made the game longer. For what? A piece of data some dude coded to be hidden, or some hidden land. Exploration in a video game is the most retarded thing when you realize a lot of it is luck or you have to do some ass backwards requirements that, until you look it up, or are autistic, you'll never know existed. Rarely do games involve hidden shit into the gameplay and often is time sensative. That feeling of discovery is just a fleeting feeling when you realize your not the first to find it, it's not important and a waste of dev time just so you can feel anything. Exploration is garbage, just focus on being fun, and if exploring is fun, then go outside.

The only way this can happen is if the devs constantly add and modify the game on a day-to-day basis and force updates via always online.

>gf doesn't want me to fap
>sometimes wind up doing it anyway
I feel awful

and this is why you never listen to Holla Forums

If he was okay with it he wouldn't have included a whiny hackers-only disclaimer

For the expansion. Meaning you pay $15 for even more garbage item pool bloat, probably one new character (two if we get a secret one) and some kind of boss. Wow.

They should release the tools for classic, AB, and AB+, and for free. There is no fundamental changes between the expansions, just more content. Again, Hush and other expansion assets were in the base game so they knew ahead of time what their goals were.

Stop defending pay to mod

This entire thread, calling op a faggot, is exactly the same

This exploring shit died when action became more popular and accessible. You damnest right I want to push buttons because I want to get good. Dark Souls blended gameplay with exploring fine, cause you never stopped fighting and you needed to be good. Vauge bullshit like exploring cave number 3648 or rng room 2951 and magically and luckily find rare item 8359 is not engaging and that kind of exploring is bullshit. Open World in general, funny enough, killed exploring. GTAV is a diamond that is garbage like Skyrim, Binding of Issac and Undertale.

For reference this is where you jumped the shark user, jumped a second time when you brought up Undertale without provocation

Ok? What does that mean, what is wrong with actually being good at games and that combat, action and skill overrides exploration and "muh experience". I want to have fun, challenging myself and perfecting my craft and if something like some random cave with low tier mobs is available, then it was a waste of space and time.

He sounds like a nice guy but I heard about him in the past in a bad way, can anyone tell me what's his full story ?

Nigga Arcades are dead.

Does anybody want to debate or is thus just a circle jerk? Why are you bringing up Arcades?

Because that was when action games were most popular and accessible. Nothing is more accessible than popping in a quarter and getting instant non-stop action for as long as you are gud.

That's the only thing I hated about this. The rest is fine.
People who praise themselves are fucking faggots, though.

Unlike turning on a PC and playing a action game with only a (sometimes) one time fee? I swear this entire thread us just nostalgic adults who are upset that they can't tell the adults at the playground that they found something nobody, think I just understood why people are calling op a faggot. Guys, change is ok. People are allowed to have fun data mining and to play a game a way you didn't have access to. We can move forward together.

Faggots like you are why WoW turned into what it is today.

You can do that with an arcade game too ya dingus, MAME is a thing. But modern action games just aren't as popular and actiony as they were during the arcade boom, if they were then games like Serious Sam wouldn't constantly get shit on for being too video gamey while Dear Esther is praised as the Citizen Kane of video games and is getting a live play.

How is this thread around for so long? The dev made a good move in this case.

I don't know which universe you came from, but in this universe, not even the normalfags care about it beyond considering it "that neat artistic game".

Because I'm right and you're wrong, so I hate you and you need to know about it

Did it never cross your mind that Serious Sam is not a good game? All I'm debating is that, while nice, exploring is only going to help RPGS and games that are story and lore heavy, but games that require skill and the point of the game is to get good and wreck your opponent, then exploring in games is overall pointless. Lack of exploring and data mining is not killing gaming and it won't ruin experience for those looking for it.

Most of the times it's foreshadowed in the story beforehand, so there really is no "shock".
Plus then there's stupid shit like the fallout 4 salt party where people were getting mad at learning the exposition of the game. Plus, IIRC other fallout games had the same choices (sacrifice this or nuke this) so you could see it coming.

Based on what objective criteria? What scientific studies have determined the exact formula for a good game and compared Serious Sam to it? I like it therefore its a good game because it provides precisely what I want from it. That is an indisputable subjective fact.
Also, I wasn't saying shit about the whole exploration thing, just pointing out that the modern era of accessible action is nothing compared to what it was during the arcade boom. I mean, you honestly cant say Dark Souls has more action than something like Metal Slug, and people today prefer more cinematic experiences than they did action back then.

I came from Universe 5378-Beta-M-12. We had Burnstein Boars, how about you?

I don't really care. Rebirth was pretty good. Afterbirth was complete garbage though and I hated most of the design decisions within it. Health scaling bosses are not fun and I wish they weren't implemented. Or at least just keep Hush health scaling and nothing else. I actually like being overpowered. I like being able to one shot bosses. Is there a problem with that?

Every time I see this face, I'm filled with, blind white hot fury that scorches my veins.

Leftists themselves are aware that none of their original shit sells. It's why they latch onto popular IPs and repurpose them to shill their ideology.

They hope enough dumb goys will give them shekels before they figure out that the product is nothing like the previous ones and is all about calling them evil, racist shitlords.

So the douchebag is going out of his way to lock everyone out of game content, just so that he could feel better imagining that people have no ready access to shit and have to sit through the game to see it, as if inter-personal communication didn't fucking exist making the whole endeavor completely moot.

It may not be pretentious by definition, but is sure as shit retarded.

Usually about 4-5 times on a normal day. I do it when I get bored so I can take a nap.

7 times a day
I think I need help

I might be able to help you get past 10

...

Tbh OP, if you are gonna shit on Edmund. Shit on the fact he wants to be paid for Mod Support on Afterbirth+

the average nigger would have an aneurysm if he played everquest

2-7 times a day on average, sometimes up to 16

Yes I do, faggot.

(real) Rougelikes have a lot of RNG but the games gives a lot items. It's all about how you manage the drops you are given and not "I hope I can get an item and I hope if I do, it's not shit"

...

Wow OP, you're a colossal fucking faggot. What's the point of evenplaying the game if you're just going to get everything right away?

my hard drive got run over by a tank. post spidey

Dicking around obviously. Sometimes cheating is more fun than to play the game properly.

...

BBC bringin the fire

Like once a week.

...

i don't see OPs issue with this, they went to actual effort to prevent people from killing secrets from later in the game, it's not something that damges the palyer ability to play or own the game like drmsowhats the issue

it just makes it so that the experience of playing the game is more like how it used to be before the internet killed secrets, not to mentino the devlopers were clever in how they implemented it

i have to wonder if we can evr recapture the feeling of a game having truly unknown content, perhaps if cloud gaming took off and and game that was palyed exclusively on the cloud had content that couldn't be accessed via datamining?

Actually they left a hidden character out of the base game as a moddle finger to data miners and only patched it back in when the community solved a stupid ARG puzzle. Why should a community event affect the content of my SINGLE PLAYER game? and no it wasnt even a content or bugfix patch, it was less than 10 mb and applied the day they solved it

Amusingly, said ARG was spoiled by data miners
