Is there a more insufferably pretentious and intellectually vacuous so-called critic than this cocksucker? Who else can you name that has done more harm to film reviewing and cinema in general?

Red letter media damage with the prequel "reviews" was pretty daunting and I don't even like the prequels.

Ebert is ourguy.

...

absolutely /ourguy/

He admits that he's rewritten reviews and changed his opinions based on other people's opinions of a movie so that he doesn't seem to have wrongthink or go against the mob.

People learns more things and change their opinions in the progress. That only means that he didn't have autism.

That's not Ebert though.

You called?

What did Plinket get wrong?

He kickstarted the trend of cynical Youtubers and redditors "cinephiles" "reviewing" movies.

People get more senile, dumber and emotional with time.

I can think of one.

Well he did help write "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls" so he knows the ins and outs of bad movies pretty intimately.

His career is kind of a testament to the power of TV as a controller of information. Most people don't read printed newspaper movie reviews. They don't go to review websites or listen to what critics have to say. Even today, most people just go with whatever the Rotten Tomatoes score is and take that as the absolute truth, with only a few exceptions.

Siskel and Ebert only had fame and notoriety as critics because they were on tv in a decent timeslot, so their show got watched.. and even then, most people only watched to see two middle-aged faggots argue over minutia in movies they'd never go see.

How kino is this?

Its a Russ Meyer movie so its packed to the brim with highly fuckable women and loads of degeneracy even the tranny kind, all the way back in 1970! Truly a visionary

Wasn't Ebert a Catholic? He loved Mel's movie.

he writes about the experience here :
